I want to thank Ethan, the service manager, for taking the time out of his busy day to personally call me and explain the company's position regarding my review. I appreciate the effort to clarify the misunderstanding. According to Ethan, the business does not require payment upfront. Instead, the text we received was a pre-approval link meant to inform us of the potential cost following a diagnostic. Unfortunately, this wasn't clearly communicated during my original call with Lou. If he had mentioned that we'd receive a text requiring approval before any work could be done--and that payment would only be due after the diagnostic--I would not have left a one-star review. From a customer's perspective, receiving a $200+ link without prior explanation understandably creates the impression that payment is required in advance. This was a clear miscommunication, and I'm willing to chalk it up as such. That said, I strongly recommend the business makes this process more transparent in future calls. Customers should be clearly told: 1. They will receive a text with a pre-approval link. 2. No payment is due until after the diagnostic is complete. In today's climate, transparency is critical, and many customers--like myself--may feel uneasy approving charges before their vehicle has even been seen. They both are extremely personable and customer service oriented - Jesse kept me updated daily while my car was being evaluated, and they both took time to explain what was going on in a way that was easy to understand. I like that they take pictures of everything and provide a full report of what's going on - it is very helpful. One thing to note is that I did pay $170 to evaluate what was going on with my check engine light, which seemed a little high but I don't have much locally to compare it to so it's hard to say if that's unusual. Just something to be aware of if you want to bring your car in for that, I guess. Anyway, between the good customer service and the proximity to my house, I am sure I will be a long term customer.

When I explained that a lifetime warranty on the part and service should cover the inspection to verify the failure, she refused to discuss the matter. Instead of talking professionally, she yelled "Excuse me!", walked away, and ordered us to leave the shop while refusing to address our other repair needs.We have been customers here in the past, but the complete lack of professionalism and the outright refusal to honor their own written warranty is unacceptable. But I finally decided to share my experience because I think it's important to warn future customers, especially those who don't have a lot of extra money to spare. The good: There's a shuttle service for customers, which is convenient. The driver was very cheerful and interested in having conversations with customers, which made the ride interesting. The staff members were polite, and the lobby has free coffee for customers. The terrible: I chose this place for my car inspection because of the positive ratings on Yelp and Google. But alas, the mechanic who inspected my car quoted me $1k+ for a part that was actually in perfect condition and failed my inspection. When I asked where the leak was, the rep said the part was shiny, and that indicated a leak. A few days later, a family member who is a mechanic inspected the part and confirmed that it was, in fact, in perfect condition. So he took my car back to this place for a re-inspection. When questioned, the reps couldn't point out a single leak on that part, and they passed him. Folks, please be careful, especially if you're a woman or someone who doesn't know much about cars. Based on my experience, I felt like I was being taken advantage of. My advice: Question every part they claim has failed, leaked, or broken. Heck, ask them to walk you over and show you exactly where the part has "failed." If you're familiar with car mechanics and have the tools, inspect your car thoroughly beforehand so you know the condition of your car before handing it over for an inspection. And if you don't know much about cars, bring a friend or family member who does. Having someone knowledgeable with you can help you ask questions and better understand what the mechanic is telling you. I'm honestly very disappointed with BA Auto. I went in expecting an honest inspection, and this experience left me questioning their integrity. I'm finally posting this after almost 3 years because I hope it helps someone else avoid a similar experience.

I called Expert Auto Repair & Tires and spoke to Olivia and said the price would be $20 and take 5 mins. I went to the location where I was greeted immediately. Oscar had me pull my car up and he plugged the tire right on the spot! I wasn't there for more than 10 mins between getting the tire plugged and paying. Both Olivia and Oscar were very nice and made sure the service was completed to my satisfaction before I paid. The only thing I will say was it was too much air in the tire compared to the other 3 but it was nothing to just let some out. I will definitely be going back for future vehicle maintenance when the time comes!

I knew H many years ago, and found he is still the same honest expertly guy as two decades ago. Damage to my German car from a deer strike did way more damage than met the eye including a bent frame. These guys went at it for as long as it took to make it 100% and they dealt incredibly well with my Geico insurance. I was less than enthused with Geico but they made the best of it and saved my car and save me a LOT of out-of-pocket expense. No one could ever tell it had work. Very happy to have it back!

He and Hertzl didn't want me leaving disappointed. So, in 90 short minutes, they took out the water sander and buffer and had another go at it. Their dedication to our satisfaction is impressive. I highly recommend this business for body work. In fact, they did such a good job with my car, we're bringing in my son's car for some mechanical work. Because we already have a reliable mechanic, I normally wouldn't have rolled the dice on their automotive skills. After they put my beauty back together, I'd trust them with any car work.

Notice how the good reviews are over a year old, it's from the old owners who were honest. The new guys are scammers and tried to sell me completely unnecessary work on my transmission. I took it to another shop in Laurel and it was fixed in 2 days. These guys wanted to rebuild the transmission. They also charge a diagnostic fee of $165. Other transmission shops will scan the codes for free. My advice is go to North Laurel Transmission right down the street. They will diagnose your transmission for free and won't sell you a fluid service when the transmission has a code for a sensor that needs replacing.

I needed a new radio console installed along with routine oil change, differential fluid, tire…read morerotation, etc. at the dealership for our 2015 Subaru Outback. AutoNation Subaru promised 2 days but it turned out they hadn't ordered the radio and it would take 7-10 business days, so--for the first time ever--we took it to Kevin at API for the routine stuff and would take it back to AutoNation for the radio another time. We dropped it off June 23 and would pick it up June 29 (which we did.) Drove it home (~5 miles) and it sat until Tuesday at 4:30 a.m. when my wife went to work. The car started shimmying and a burning smell and grinding sound came out from under the hood. She pulled over as the car lost power and the car wouldn't stop rolling in Park; used emergency brake and towed it back to API that morning (June 30). Kevin diagnosed the outback needed a new transmission but denied any culpability, saying instead this is a dealership problem and try to con them into extending the warranty. Towed it to Catonsville Subaru and we have their video diagnostic and written report stating the differential assembly was empty of fluid and the transmission was filled with differential fluid. It cost almost $20K to repair the damage and Kevin and API (with his son and daughter) refuse to respond. I hate to spend $10K to recover $20K but they are leaving us no choice. I've mailed hardcopies, sent email requesting "read receipts (APISOUTH@YAHOO.com) but they immediately delete them without reading. API has their folksy "aw shucks, I'm just one o' ya'll" routine down pat but it's shadier than Trump bitcoin. I recommend avoiding this place like the plague.
