I picked up my car from the VPC and it had a spare tire on it and the regular tire's valve stem had apparently broken off during the shipment. I was referred to API by the VPC so I called to see if they could help me. They were kind of busy and it was toward the end of the day, but they said to bring it over and they'd work on it. After taking a look at it, they replaced the metal TPMS stem with a rubber one (they didn't have the TPMS valve stem in stock) and were done in about 20 minutes. The price was right, too! I needed a new radio console installed along with routine oil change, differential fluid, tire rotation, etc. at the dealership for our 2015 Subaru Outback. AutoNation Subaru promised 2 days but it turned out they hadn't ordered the radio and it would take 7-10 business days, so--for the first time ever--we took it to Kevin at API for the routine stuff and would take it back to AutoNation for the radio another time. We dropped it off June 23 and would pick it up June 29 (which we did.) Drove it home (~5 miles) and it sat until Tuesday at 4:30 a.m. when my wife went to work. The car started shimmying and a burning smell and grinding sound came out from under the hood. She pulled over as the car lost power and the car wouldn't stop rolling in Park; used emergency brake and towed it back to API that morning (June 30). Kevin diagnosed the outback needed a new transmission but denied any culpability, saying instead this is a dealership problem and try to con them into extending the warranty. Towed it to Catonsville Subaru and we have their video diagnostic and written report stating the differential assembly was empty of fluid and the transmission was filled with differential fluid. It cost almost $20K to repair the damage and Kevin and API (with his son and daughter) refuse to respond. I hate to spend $10K to recover $20K but they are leaving us no choice. I've mailed hardcopies, sent email requesting "read receipts (APISOUTH@YAHOO.com) but they immediately delete them without reading. API has their folksy "aw shucks, I'm just one o' ya'll" routine down pat but it's shadier than Trump bitcoin. I recommend avoiding this place like the plague. read more

My engine light had been on for a little while and after self-diagnosing, I contacted my warranty company for a listing of reputable locations. API came highly recommended and of course, they were booked. However, i exclaimed my story and what I had already done. They agreed to take a look and confirm what I suspected might be a quick (quick enough) fix. I made my appointment for their next available date and they agreed to a quick look the next day. Being that I work during the day, I dropped off when they opened for a quick look. They were able to order the part and have it on hand by the time of my appointment. I will definitely return for any future needs with my car. Their customer service is hands down, family care. No pushing, no selling, just service. Overall my experience with them was non-existent and not worth waiting. My check engine light in my Mercedes came on, so I looked around for shops with good reviews. I decided to give API a call to set up a time to bring in my vehicle. I called august 27th (Friday), they told me I could bring it in next Thursday, Sept 2nd. So first thing that morning my husband followed me to drop my vehicle off for the day. They called me back around lunch time, maybe 12:30. Left a voicemail and I tried calling them back all day, being sent to voicemail after the line ringing for a few seconds. One of the guys calls me and tells me that they didn't want to charge me $400 for a diagnostic without talking with me. He claimed that he needed to remove stuff from the engine/hood to get a better idea. Yet, they never answered my calls back. They asked if the car was still drivable and asked if I could come pick it up before closing at 6. Upon getting there he told me that I could bring it back in "sometime next week" and never specified a day or time. Or even the diagnostic result from the scanner. When I got back into my car I could tell they did the diagnostic via the scanner because the check engine was reset. And my car mats were dirty. I don't understand what the point was of waiting a week, dropping off my vehicle for the whole day, just for them to tell me nothing. I ended up taking my vehicle to XDealerTechs. They scheduled a time with me to bring it in for a day. So I dropped it off the night prior. 3 hours after opening they tell me the diagnostic and the estimate for repair. I agreed everything sounded right and now tomorrow evening my car will be ready for pick up. Could of avoided all the nonsense if I had just went with them from the beginning. read more

These guys are great. We have been bringing our vehicles to them for years, ever since they fixed my in-laws' SUV while they were down visiting about a decade ago. They are honest, and never hard-sell you. They will give you their take on what MUST be fixed vs what you can push off (while keeping an eye out), which has really helped out keeping costs down over the years. Found out when I dropped off my car at the VPC for shipment overseas that the emergency brakes were not holding. I don't use the emergency brakes so it was frustrating to find out at the last minute especially with a l flight out 6 hours later I was in a bind. Fortunately Brian and Kevin at API which is located right next to the VPC took great care of me. They squeezed me into their already busy schedule to see what was wrong. It ended up being a simple fix that Kevin quickly performed and put the brakes back together again all in 1.5 hr. This enabled me to meet my original vehicle drop off spot. Brian and his team were a life saver. Even if they were not able to fix it away they have a system set up to do a POA for them to deliver to car down to the VPC once it was fix, while I was overseas. My Subaru just got off the boat and had some rear axle clicking as I drove away. I went back to the port folks and they were not super accommodating and pretty much were trying to get rid of me without any issues. They sent me up to API and those guys were awesome. They don't know how to do proper diagnostics. They simply throw parts at the cars and hope it fixes the problem. Sometimes you get lucky and they are able to rip off their vendors by returning now used parts your car didn't need to begin with and other times they will simply have you paying for parts you never needed to begin with. read more
