I've been a customer of this shop for over 10 years, since moving to Elkridge. They were initially chosen for convenience, but since then, they've become the only mechanics I'll use. I'll even tow my car from far away (AAA hates me) to have them service my cars. They will readily admit any limitations to servicing my cars, and are very up front about whether it's worth the cost to make repairs. They make great recommendations about what cars are high maintenance, and give very accurate repair estimates before they start the work. I would highly recommend them for any service work, and trust any recommendations they make to be in my best interest and maybe not what makes them the most money. BACKGROUND: I found this garage online because they had a special for a Maryland auto inspection. Coming from New York,. I had no idea as to the level of detail involved in a MD inspection - much tougher than NY! But that is no fault of this particular garage. It turned out that I needed ~$1,500 worth of work. SERVICE: The two brothers were very friendly - it was work that I obviously needed to schedule and they worked with me - even sending me itemized estimates over email and corresponding that way. I appreciated their honesty. The labor involved with my repairs (shocks, struts, gas line and a few other minor things) was certainly going to take a least 2 days. We worked it out so I could drop it off on a Saturday and pick it up on Monday after work. PRICE: New to the area, I sent the estimate to my trusted mechanic in NY and he validated that they were charging me fair and reasonable prices. I am happy to report my final bill actually came in just a little bit below original estimate. This garage is a little far from me in Glen Burnie, but I will certainly keep them in mind as I progress with my car. read more

I had the best experience at Dependable Auto Care. First of all the service is so friendly, I was greeted with a smile and that is more important than you can know. When I actually took my car in to be inspected Steve was super nice and chatted with me. It makes waiting so much less awkward. Everything I had done was finished before the time they quoted, and I paid a little less than the price they quoted me. When the dealer is trying to take me to the cleaners, Dave and Dependable Auto save me %50 or more from what the dealer wanted, because sometimes the dealer says you need it, and Dependable Auto says not needed and I save hundreds $$$. In general: state inspections SUCK. A dishonest mechanic will fail you for any-and-everything, just to get repairs done at their shop. I was very afraid of this happening after reading reviews of other state inspection locations. This place is GREAT. Fast service while I waited. I had some worn down tread on my front tires, which I needed to replace anyway. So while I did fail the inspection, I was able to bring it back next day with new tires and passed (no charge for re-inspections). The representative (owner?) in the front is so friendly and fun to talk to. He told me funny stories about past inspections to pass the time and you could tell he was very passionate and knowledgeable about what he did. Definitely quick service and friendly staff. I would trust them with repairs just based on this experience alone. read more

I was having a tire emergency yesterday. TWO tires with screws in them. And, I'm going out of town tomorrow. So, I needed them fixed ASAP. I dropped one tire off there in the morning. The owner set me up for an appointment in the afternoon to take care of the other one. I went back at 2:30. They put the car in the shop, and within a half hour, all was back to normal. These guys are great. I've been getting my car (Honda CRV) serviced here for almost 3 years and have never had a problem. I trust Dave and his techs so much that recently, I had a major repair which they handled so smoothly I almost didn't mind repair. All of their services are much cheaper than what I've paid for similar services at other shops and their customer service cannot be beaten. They give update calls (I know, hard to believe!), give me rides back to my house if it's an all day service, and give me up front quotes and clear explanations about what is going on with my car. So I've been hearing a certain type of noise from the front left of my vehicle while driving. I know what it was as I had the same symptoms and noise from the front right 2 years ago. So I KNEW what needs to be done. I had to change my front left ball joint of my Honda Accord. I ordered the parts online (amazon) as I knew what needed to be replace to resolve my issue. I came to Dependable Auto Service with my part in hand and asked for a quote. One of the brothers was able to explain to me that he would need to diagnose the noise and there may be more to it than just a ball joint. I asked for an estimate of JUST what it would take to replace the ball joint as I told him that I had the same noise 2 years ago. His response "$300" Three Hundred dollars. I was shocked as I drove to NEARBY mechanics earlier in the day and they quoted half of that at $150-$160. The reason I did not go to the earlier ones as there was an appointment needed, I need at the spot repair with my part on-hand. I'm sure they are knowledgable in their service but don't quote me something extra enormous for a specific job. If they had come back during the repair and showed me additional repairs and additional costs that would have been just fine. I would have appreciated that and taken my business here but NO, over priced QUOTE! TIP: Look at nearby mechanics for a reasonable mechanic. read more

Way overpriced! The low priced inspection roped us in to Dependable Auto. Our mechanic of 20 years, does not do inspections. (He's super busy, best mechanic in Elkridge, cars galore lined up to get repairs there due his great service and pricing). We should have gone to the one our mechanic referred but instead went to Dependable based on the Yelp reviews. That was a mistake never again. The cost of repairs Dave quoted us were ridiculous over $1500.00 and he said he wasn't sure he could get the parts for our vehicle if he were to repair. I researched it and found out the parts are plentiful for this make and model. Our mechanic will be taking care of it from here and the repairs will cost much less than what Dependable Auto is charging. read more

It's so important to have a good mechanic, we've had bad experiences in the past and it just brings such peace of mind to know you have someone you can trust. These guys are really, really great. We were so nervous about passing the strenuous Maryland inspection when we moved here, but they made the process easy and didn't make us do anything we didn't absolutely have to. Since then, every time we come in I'm greeted with a smile and great conversation by Dave or his cousin at the desk while I wait. I brought my Volvo C70 in for a State Safety Inspection. The inspection was done at a very reasonable cost (lower than anyone else in the area), and although the shop could not work on the car to address the problems that it found (they do not work on Volvo's), the owner stated that they would redo the inspection after I had the items addressed as long as it was within 30 days and the car had less than 1,000 since the inspection. The second inspection went through without issue. I liked the professionalism and honesty of the repair shop. I plan to take my vehicles to them in the future. read more

My wife had brakes serviced at this shop and a couple months later the rotors which were turned became warped again. She was disappointed the brakes needed to be serviced again and emailed Dependable Auto Service to ask what can be done to get it resolved. They told her to drop it off and ended up replacing the warped rotors and replaced the rear rotors too for good measure.....for FREE. Mind you the front rotors were originally turned not replacement parts. I would have expected for them to maybe turn the rotors again or replace them at a discount, but Dependable Auto Service did not charge anything. They told my wife they wanted to show the quality of work they perform, they would have suggested we replace the rotors from the get-go but they were doing what the dealership suggested to my wife. Dependable Auto Service went way above and beyond to make us satisfied customers. I HIGHLY recommend them. read more

I've gone to this shop for about three years now. Their prices were fair and they did a fine job until I brought my car in to get the AC fixed this past month. They charged me $1200 and the AC still didn't work. When I brought the car back so they could re-assess it, they said it was a computer issue and I'd have to go to a Nissan dealership to get the AC fixed. I feel very disappointed and taken advantage of, after having to pay $1200 and the issue hasn't changed. Although the people at Dependable Auto Service seem really nice and polite, I think what they did today was dishonest and unprofessional. The bottom line is that they failed at their job and still charged me for it. read more

My wife and I have taken our cars in for service a few times and I'm very disappointed with this place at this point. Dependable Auto Service is exceptionally selective about the type of work they perform and the type of vehicles they accept. They don't work on cars earlier than model year 1997, they don't work on diesel engines, they don't perform any repairs below the intake manifold and they don't perform work on airbags or diagnose airbag related issues. And that's just what we've encountered, who knows what other issues they don't repair and its only after you bring the car in for evaluation do these people communicate this to you. So you're hit with a diagnostic fee and you still leave with a vehicle that needs to be repaired. There are plenty of other repair shops in the area that accept a wider variety of work and just as capable. And I think they're pretty pricey as well. Good luck. read more

I take my Honda here for maintenance and repairs. The prices are very reasonable and they haven't recommend extra work than what's necessary. The service is very fast and efficient and I have nothing to complain about their work. Had a chat with one of the brothers the last time I was there waiting for an oil change.
