I've been bringing my car to Clark for a variety of repairs and maintenance services (brakes, check engine light, etc.) for about 5 years now. I keep coming back despite moving to a different neighborhood because it's the **only** place I've worked with in Baltimore that seems honest and competent. Clark regularly charges literally hundreds less compared to other shops that have given me estimates. They are friendly and practical. They have never tried to upsell me. As a woman, I am so grateful to have a place to take my car where I don't have to worry about being financially taken advantage of because of sexist assumptions that women don't understand cars. The service was excellent. I needed locksmith services for my old viper alarm key fob to be programmed & I also got a spare key made. The key fob was difficult for me, but they handled the issue with no problem and with flying colors. The pricing was great and much cheaper than the dealership and what other shops/locksmiths were trying to charge me. They are a must to use. I have been recommending him just a few hours after he completed his work. They are amazing, you won't be disappointed at all. No surprises with the prices or services. Relocated here two months ago. First I was baffled about the inspection process in this state. How can the price of an inspection not be a set price. The mechanics are all looking for the same issues on every car. Their inspection price was Half the cost of another repair shops price. They explained to me that it depends upon the rate of the mechanics pay. Anywaze my 2007 Saab has a few issues not starting intermittently and was not weather related. I was advised to replace starter, battery, and alternator in my former state. I dropped the car off at Clarks. Paul discovered a fuel injection problem(flooding). He was not that familiar with Saabs and could not recreate the problem. I was charged slightly over 100.00. plus he gave me a list of repairs that should be performed in the very near future. Some of these I was aware of. I appreciated his honesty and once I get the flooding issue resolved I will return for the remainder of the recommended repairs. I wish I had waited for my relocation to Baltimore. I could have saved myself 1900.00 dollars that the Saab experts in MA. sucked out of me that did not resolve the problem. The folks at Clark Auto were recommended to me by my daughter. She remarked, "Honest." So I tried them for an oil change. No problems, i waited (had an appointment) while they changed the oil. No fuss, no muss. No upselling, no trying to get me to agree to change my wiper blades, none of that BS. And the bill reflected that. Very refreshing approach. I was pointed towards this shop by a family member after getting screwed over by Advanced Auto, Jiffy Lube, and the other big name shops in the area. Appointment was for 9am and my car was promptly taken back and they started working on it almost immediately. Issues were communicated very clearly and they were incredibly transparent on what they were doing and the price of it. Jiffy Lube charged me $60 in labor for a 20 minute headlight change, Clark Auto charged me $88 in labor for TWO rotor replacements and a smoke test which took around two hours. Very fairly priced, very kind folks, Clark Auto is definitely going to be my go-to for any repairs in the future. read more

Had a slow leak in a tire and took it to Merchant's in Parkville. I've bought 5 tires from them in the last 4 months so thought they might be willing to plug it for free. They told me the nail went in 'at an angle' and I'd need a new tire. I'm no expert but it wasn't in the sidewall and in the past I've always been able to have holes in the tread region plugged without problem. I then took myself down to Clark's on Harford who not only plugged it for me but didn't charge me a dime. Just did it out of kindness and neighborhood courtesy. They were surprised another place told me it could not be repaired. And while it's possible the plug won't hold, they get a gold star just for doing this for me. Perfect example of why you should get a second opinion and how a local business treats neighborhood customers vs. a corporate mentality of 'what can I get from you right now.' I say when I write a review that I write as many bad as good, which is true and that I take my time to do this either to warn people or to let them know of something good which i find so rarely. This is the good I find so rarely. I found this shop online because my guy isnt working on cars anymore. So finding a new shop that is good is difficult, ESPECIALLY for a woman, whether you understand cars or not. This must be my week and my car is fixed. The people at the shop seem to know what they are doing, including the receptionist? I did test their honesty, and they passed without charging me one unnecessary penny. I was anxious to find an honest place to get the state inspection done. Recently I've gotten an inspection just to check before a long distance drive at the dealership with no problem so I knew it should pass but I was just afraid someone would take advantage of the situation. So I live a little away from here but came here because of a yelp review.... I brought my car here for a subframe install, cv axle, and sway bar stabalizer.. I had to wait 2 months to get my car back, but when I got it back the steering wheel was loose but they didnt know why.. I had been a total of 4 months without my car so I figured maybe it was because of the subframe install, Im making a trip to Canada and went to check my brakes. I finally take off the wheel and see no sway bar stabalizer at all..!!!!! I take it back to them calmly at first and try to get an explanation and the shop owner LIES to me and said they did the opposit side and I know they didnt because the old piece is still there..!!!! And why would you remove a piece and have me drive around without it, why wouldnt you put the old piece back on...?????? Refused to take another look at it and did not offer refund for work they did NOT do.. BE WARNED, HORRIBLE OWNERSHIP..!!!!! I never write reviews but this place was worth it. I love this place...honest and trust worthy people who won't rip you off and try to screw you over. I took my car to another shop to have it inspected and they said there was thousands of things wrong with is and quoted me $3,300.00 to fix everything. Clark's looked it over and all I needed was a very minor fix and they fixed it with no additional costs on the inspection. once again honesty rears it's head at clark auto. my car was pulling to the left. i thought it might need a front end alignment. i was informed that the alignment was fine and it was probably a bearing or hub assembly problem that would be covered at the dealer under my warranty. that's exactly what it was. i appreciate the expertise and ethics of this repair shop.my co-worker had similar experience with clark auto. it's good to know there is an auto repair shop that doesn't try to gouge the consumer. i would not take my vehicle anywhere for service and would highly recommend it to anyone. read more
