I brought my car in for the Maryland Vehicle Safety Inspection. The mechanic called out a list of repairs after the inspection, claiming they were required for the Maryland inspection to pass. After doing my own research, it became clear that not everything on the list of repairs were safety-related or required by the state. Only after pressing the issue did the mechanic (named Malik) agreed and revised the list, which already raised red flags about trustworthiness of this shop. The experience only got worse from there. I dropped my car off early the next morning, as instructed, and called later in the day to ask Malik when it might be ready so I could arrange a ride. Instead of a simple, helpful response, I was met with outright hostility. When I asked, "Do you expect the car to be ready today or tomorrow?" Malik curtly replied: "Your car will be ready when it is ready." I asked my question a different way. Malik replied with the same exact response, " It will be ready when it is ready" I tried to explain that I just needed an estimate to plan my transportation. Malik responded "What part of what I told you don't you understand?" This level of rudeness and unprofessionalism toward a paying customer is completely unacceptable. Clear communication and basic respect should be the bare minimum, especially when you're entrusting someone with your vehicle and paying for their time and expertise. I cannot in good faith recommend Fell Point Auto to others. There are plenty of competent and respectful auto professionals in Baltimore , Fell Point Auto isn't one. read more

This is a delayed review, but I was so lucky to find Fells Point Auto Repair. I live about 30 miles from Baltimore, and my brakes were making concerning noises. I was scared to drive home. The mechanic here checked out my car as soon as I pulled up and assured me that I could make it back home safely. He didn't even charge me. It's hard to find someone honest, and I would definitely come here regularly if I lived closer. read more

summary : theft incompetent irrespecutful owner and shop. what they did to me : I took my car after my car failed the Maryland transmission test because of a Torque Converter problem. First thing he says is it's probably your transmitter! but I'm going to check and turn off the engine light and if you didn't pass come back! ok I did so, except no receipt or report, or even my emission report when I picked up the car. next day my car does not start ; battery emptied out! ok mistakes happen, having left food and coffee cup trash did suggest my car has been driven by them and they probably have forgot to turn the light off or something else, still not to tell me this, was not very ... thoughtful? but the bigger problem is that my car which has passed the registration test couple months ago (and this is stated on the report from another mechanic that transmission works fine) starts making a loud ticking sound when I start it or go to rev/parking gear right after I pick it ip from Fells point auto repair. I had to take my car to another shop ( I'm a full-time student so it took me a couple weeks before being able to take time off and doing so), only to learn my transmission smells like it's burning by the second mechanic shop. I don't know what my transmission status was but I do find it odd that right after I take my car back the ticking sound started, and I do find it outrageous to call and tell the owner respectfully what has happened and hear him yelling at me and insulting me and calling me a liar. I hope you enjoy the money you stole from me and be happy with making a poor student go bankrupt. I even told him I don't think you did this on purpose but maybe a mistake has happened? he took no responsibility and could not even remain civil for a short collaborative conversation. his mistake has caused me 2000 dollars, so be careful, and don't live your life based off trust in human decency as I did. read more

Got a groupon for a full synthetic oil change with this shop. It is conveniently located on Eastern avenue close to harbor east. I dropped off my keys with a kind gentleman who was very busy, but still attentive. He was supposed to give me a call but forgot to call, but also gave me an estimated time to come by and the car was definitely done by that point so no holds barred for that. This is no frills, you park your car in the parking lot, and then you go right up to the garage and tell them that you need to redeem the groupon for whatever type of oil you need...and then you're all set! This Auto Shop is fantastic! I am relatively new to Maryland and did not know where to take my car for an inspection and repair. Luckily, I stumbled on this auto shop with a quick Google search! This garage is locally owned and operated by brothers who clearly take pride and care in their work. Not only did they agree to see me the same day as my inquiry, but they completed all work in a timely manner and at a great price. I was shown exactly what was wrong with my vehicle and was given accurate quotes. They worked patiently with my schedule and my many (many) questions. Took my car there for repairs from a accident 4 years ago, insurance company paid for the repairs but all they did was cosmetic they never repaired my front end . Recently took it to a good mechanic and was asked if I been in a accident recently said no they told me my front end was never repaired from the accident 4 years ago. Bent lower control arm Rack and pinion was bent and never repaired They aligned my steering wheel with my tires to make it look like it was fixed. I will never take my car back to Roy and his gang of thieves that steal insurance money. Also my brother Inlaw who took his truck there for repairs after a accident was screwed also they never put his truck back the same, floor boards falling off, front fender was loose. The gentleman I dealt with (the owner?) was polite, very nice, and working very diligently. He performed the oil change quickly and paid attention to details that other shops sometimes miss, like re-setting my car's "Oil Maintenance Required" reminder. Would definitely return. read more

this is one of the worse mechanics i ever encountered he inspected my car failed it mark thtee things thinking he was gonna make a load of cash i took it somewhere else to get them repairs fixed and a real mechanic told me all of my motor mounts where broke how u inspec my car and not see the motor mounts are broken ? one other time like a year ago i went here because my car would shake when it comes to a stop he couldn't find the problem and ended up putting peace's on my car that wasn't for my car i took it to Nissan because that how bad had he handled my car i was over it they called me and informed me he use a bunch of old parts that was not even for my car they had a bag of parts when i picked up my car if this mechanic is your only option.....walk or get a bike he's the worse ! read more

This is a terrible and unscrupulous repair shop. I took my car for an oil change, and immediately after the oil change my car started alarming "oil pressure is low". I was obviously very concerned - I turned back and spent nearly an hour arguing with the manager about it. He didn't even want to inspect the car - he kept saying that they did everything right, and that the alarm must be an unrelated problem. This is obviously an idiotic idea, as anyone with a brain can tell. I had NEVER seen this alarm before, and immediately after the oil change it started alarming - obviously it was related. The manager kept saying that he was trying to "educate me" about "how an oil change works". Um, maybe he should educated himself and his employees. I went to a second mechanic shop, and they told me that it was likely a filter problem. I called back the manager of the first shop, and he said he had a second filter that we could try. I drove back to the first repair shop - as I was driving on the highway the engine light started blinking and the red brake lights started flashing as well. They finally replaced the filter, and all the alarms stopped. This process took FOUR HOURS! On top of it, they didn't want to refund me, but finally agreed to do so. These people are complete cretins - don't trust them with your car. They will turn a simple problem into a time consuming and expensive mess. The wrong filter could have killed my engine and gotten me into a serious accident. This is EXTREMELY dangerous, and they didn't even want to acknowledge that they did anything wrong. read more

I had a great experience with Fells Point Auto Repair. I got a flat tire and was freaking out because I have no idea how to fix anything with cars and it was getting late. I'm not sure the name of the person who I spoke to on the phone, but he allowed me to bring my car to the shop right away, even though he was about to close.
