Nestled in the food court of Mitsuwa market is a small food stall serving up some delicious katsu and curry. I got the Pork Katsu curry spicy, it also comes witha. small miso soup. I would say this is homestyle japanese cooking done well. The katsu was crispy, hot and fresh. Super tender and not overcooked. The curry was flavorful although I would have preferred even more spice. The miso soup was standard, and taste good. Overall a great option for a quick bite after you're done shopping.

I honestly think that this place was really good. The katsu curry was very tasty and the takoyaki was super delicious. I am definitely going to be returning here for their food. It was fast and the person taking my order was quick and polite. The food court is completely clean and nicely arranged. Great spot!

Since this restaurant is in a food court, there's no table service, and the ambiance is just what you'd expect from a typical Japanese food court. The pork chops were perfectly crispy, though a bit lean for my taste--I personally prefer a fattier cut. That said, it was still a great lunch, and the fried oysters were equally delicious. I'd definitely come back for another meal!

Out of all the food stands at Mitsuwa, Matsui is my favorite. I've been eating here since we first moved down to Dallas in 2019, and the quality hasn't changed. COVID-19 made a lot of the stands close down at Mitsuwa, but Matsui stayed strong during that time. They have a glass display of what the dishes look like (similar to what you see in Japan), and the portions are pretty big. I don't think their prices increased much in the last 3 years, which is why I still love to eat here. I usually get a small pork katsu don combo, and it comes with either cold soba noodles or hot udon soup. The price is like $13 after taxes and I have a bit of leftovers to take home. If you want some curry, get it on the side for $3. Ours came in a pretty big bowl and it was enough to feed 3 people. Overall, this is definitely one of the more solid spots in Mitsuwa if you want to dine at the food court.

The older gentleman at the counter was really sweet, or maybe he was just old and I love old people (': service was quick I think the portion was a little small for the $14 that I paid It was hearty and flavorful but a little too salty. Your sodium level will skyrocket after this meal lol if it was less salty I would've loved it. I liked that it had a lot of veggies, helped with the saltiness

I was at mitsuwa for some shopping, and decided to go try something out in the food court. We decided to try out matsui because I was craving soba noodles. There was a great lunch weekday deal that had soba noodles and a curry together which went to about 14$ which was a steal! I got the pork katsu curry and the katsu was the perfect crispiness, and the curry was very flavorful. The soba noodles were so good and refreshing I really enjoyed this entire meal. I added on an order of the 4 piece takoyaki and that was pretty good too! I will definitely be back here if I'm here in the area and wanting an affordable meal.

Matsui has my favorite classic pork katsu with curry in the DFW area. They are remarkably consistent with their food quality, taste, and portions. Always freshly fried to a beautiful crispy golden brown. Always an adequate amount of meat. Lots of rice, hot and tasty noodles. The list goes on. Please give Matsui a try if you are in the area. You will not be disappointed. As a bonus, their weekday lunch specials are a great value, with a 1/2 serving of the entree and an included bowl of hot/cold udon/soba with rice for the price of a full size entree only. I've gone for lunch about five times at this point and have always left full and satisfied. Outside of standard mealtimes, seating is easy to get, especially around weekday lunchtime. During mealtimes the food court can get pretty busy, so seating may be a challenge. P.S they do have a small additional charge for takeout orders to cover the cost of to-go boxes and utensils. Not a dealbreaker but can be annoying if you aren't anticipating it.

Im so excited to have found this food hall! The store front reminds me of food shops in Japan. I love zaru udon and its hard to find in the metroplex. I had it with tempura and it was delicious. The pork curry was also delicious. Definitely a great spot.

Great food, good prices, fair portions. Love the katsu don and cold udon. Friendly staff. Food comes out about the right amount of time. Usually a lunch rush line.

Flavor is on point. This place knows the difference between tempura and ebi fry! Fast, delicious and reasonable! Love this place for japanese curries as well!

Tucked away in the food court in Mitsuwa, Matsui offers Japanese noodle dishes, Donburi, and curry. It may be because I've been living away from Japanese food like this for a while, but Matsui really hit the spot. I thought the food was decent quality and we definitely got our money's worth. I really like the combo options so I can fulfill multiple cravings! They also offer free tea and water which is greatly appreciated :) The dining hall can be a little loud but there's plenty of seating. We'll be returning!

Matsui is located inside Mitsuwa Marketplace with plenty of parking. My husband and I decided to have dinner at Matsui on a Saturday a little before 5:30 pm since we were hungry (we just decided to shop at Mitsuwa but did not have plans to dine here initially). After looking over the menu, we ended up ordering: #26 Assorted Katsu $14.85 prior to tax- Please note chicken katsu substitution for pork katsu at no additional cost. I ordered this meal that comes with fried oyster, fried shrimp and katsu, served with a bowl of miso soup and bowl of rice. I also had a small slaw salad. I liked the assorted fried proteins and am glad it came with a slaw salad. I liked the peanut salad dressing and wished I had more of it on the side to dip my katsu in. I thought the soup was perfect since the evening we dined was on the cold side. The rice was also just fine. #5 Chicken Katsu Don with Hot Udon, $9.95 prior to tax- My husband ordered this combination dinner which surprised me with the amount of food it came with and with such an affordable price. I didn't eat any of my husband's food but he liked everything and was pretty full since he ate it all. ---------------------- (Total= $26.84 after tax) We dined here but there is a small note by the register that there is a $0.35 charge for to go orders. For some reason, my entrée was ready before my husband's. After paying for our order, my husband's order was ready 17 minutes afterwards and my meal was ready 12 minutes after ordering. Our number was announced via microphone so that we knew it was ready for pick up. And after eating, we placed our dirty dishes and trays at the window. There are some great entrees and combinations on the menu that I would like to try. I would come back here again if I lived in this area.

This was really good simple Japanese food. My friend and I were really happy with how good the food was and the prices were reasonable. I got that nostalgic feeling like I was back in Japan when I was eating the soba and tempura and the curry tasted closer to CoCo curry which was a pleasant surprise. Overall we really liked it and wished there was one in or near Houston.

We showed up with a party of 10 and they got us sat in roughly 20 minutes which I think was a fair amount of time for a Saturday 1:00pm time frame. Staff were all friendly and attentive. I got the pork cutlet omelet with cheese and spice level 7. My goodness, I inhaled that dish. We were coming up to fortworth for a thing and drove with some friends an extra 45 minutes in the opposite direction just to have this a second time on Sunday. I came across this spot on Yelp where the reviews were glowing, though I will say the menu is a little confusing.... That holds true in person too, but thankfully there are photos to guide you, which helps a lot. Also worth noting, they offer 20 (twenty!!!) levels of spiciness, which feels both exciting and pretty intimidating. I went with the pork katsu curry with rice. The omelet dishes looked amazing too and I was tempted, but crispy curry & rice won the day. I told the waiter I wanted medium spice and said 5, and the server smiled and said he would give me a level 1. I laughed, but he knew exactly what he was doing because even level 1 had a solid kick. My hubby ordered the same dish with chicken and added veggies (and cheese(. He decided to be bold and went with a level 2. Honestly, mine might have even tasted spicier, but at that point it is all relative. We arrived around 4:45pm on a Saturday and it was easy to get seated. By the time we left, the place was completely packed and there was a line forming, which tells you everything you need to know. The pork was perfectly crispy, the rice had that ideal sticky texture, and the curry sauce was rich and generous. Every bite hit the spot.

Their food court area was also small and had a handful of restaurants. The restrooms are located all the to the right side of the establishment, past the food court. While there are many Japanese goods available at this marketplace, the goods are not inexpensive. I appreciate they have my favorite drinks like CC Lemon and matcha, Japanese beauty products, and even some harder to come by Hawaiian Suns. There is a section to pick up pre-made sushi and cold food items as well as a pre-made and heat lamp covered area for hot food items, but both looked kind of dry. Not my favorite Mitsuwa location but would suffice and happy to have it around when I do need something in particular.

I didn't think that this meant don't season or baste any of the meat. But apparently, that's what it means. Not only that, but they gave us the spicy teriyaki sauce.
