I went to pick up a to-go order for a sick relative after receiving a notification that it was ready. After waiting 25 minutes, I learned there had been a system issue and my order had not been started. The owner, Michael Clark, responded aggressively when I asked about the delay. I then received notification you cancelled my order.When I returned, I simply asked why you cancelled my order. Naturally, I was confused because I had already been told that my order was being prepared and would take approximately 10 minutes (after waiting a previous 40 minutes). What was most concerning was not the AT&T outage or the additional wait. I understand that technical problems occur and that those circumstances may have been completely outside of your control. My friend and I stopped by at 1 PM on a Saturday and were surprised to see a long line formed out the door. Luckily, we joined the online waitlist ahead of time, so we didn't have to wait at all. I ordered the pork cutlet curry (spice level 3). The curry was flavorful and had a good kick of spice. They also gave us a generous amount of rice. The pork cutlet itself was cooked well, and the breading was nice and crunchy. Be sure to try the curry with the complimentary pickled radish! On the way back from a road trip to Paris, (sadly not the one with croissants, we are talking Paris Texas), we stopped in Frisco for an early dinner and found a winner. I came across this spot on Yelp where the reviews were glowing, though I will say the menu is a little confusing.... That holds true in person too, but thankfully there are photos to guide you, which helps a lot. Also worth noting, they offer 20 (twenty!!!) levels of spiciness, which feels both exciting and pretty intimidating. I went with the pork katsu curry with rice. The omelet dishes looked amazing too and I was tempted, but crispy curry & rice won the day. I told the waiter I wanted medium spice and said 5, and the server smiled and said he would give me a level 1. I laughed, but he knew exactly what he was doing because even level 1 had a solid kick. My hubby ordered the same dish with chicken and added veggies (and cheese(. He decided to be bold and went with a level 2. Honestly, mine might have even tasted spicier, but at that point it is all relative. We arrived around 4:45pm on a Saturday and it was easy to get seated. The cutlets themselves were on the thinner side, but they were still tasty and cooked perfectly. My only complaint was that the egg layer over the rice was much thinner than I expected. We came in to pick up an order and were also affected by the system/internet issue, so we completely understood that there was going to be a delay. Things happen, and waiting a little longer really wasn't the problem. What was uncomfortable was the way the owner/manager handled the situation. While we were sitting there waiting for our own order, we witnessed his interaction with another customer who appeared to be dealing with the exact same issue. She seemed to simply be asking what was happening with her order, and the way he spoke to her came across as unnecessarily rude, frustrated, and condescending. Unfortunately, our own interaction with him was similar. When we asked about our order and the delay, we were also met with a dismissive and frustrated attitude. We weren't blaming anyone for the system being down we were just trying to understand what was happening and how long we should expect to wait. From where we were sitting, another customer was being talked down to for asking a reasonable question, and after experiencing a similar attitude ourselves, it was especially disappointing to watch. I understand how stressful it must be to run a restaurant when the ordering system goes down and multiple customers are waiting. But those are also the moments when customer service matters most. The technical problems may have been completely outside the restaurant's control; the way customers are spoken to is not. The delay itself wouldn't have caused me to leave a negative review. The way the situation was handled and seeing another customer treated similarly is what left the bad impression. Oh my goodness, i have been awaiting my visit to Dallas for the holidays solely on visiting the ONLY coco ichibanya in Texas. This place is cozy and has only seating for about 60 people, when we started driving, i added ourselves to the Yelp waitlist which did help but they're always busy and for good reason of a wait time so get yourself smart so you don't have to wait once you get there and stand around with your party. The food is mainly Japanese curry, which is what they are known for, the abundant selection in protein, add ons, and spice level was great, especially looking at the fun kids plates and the staff greeting us warmly, with kids getting little gatcha toys for a fun little prize. My go-to is their garlic cheese bread and their chicken cutlet with veggies. 5/5 It's so delicious and the consistency of their food is spot on and hasn't disappointed me. Their chicken is cooked to perfection, and their curry is what makes everything taste so amazingly delicious. Thankfully I had leftovers and my fiancée ordered food to have for tomorrow. I finished the test of my leftovers about 3 hours after dining at their restaurant. It even tastes good reheated and we all know that not about of food tastes good or as delicious as effective you had it freshly made. Great food and great service overall. However, we did experience a concerning issue. My wife found a piece of plastic in the keema cheese fries and had already chewed it before noticing. We immediately informed the manager, and the dish was replaced with multiple apologies, which we appreciated. One suggestion I have is to bring back the divided trays that included a separate section for the Japanese pickles.
