I'm not vegan so the buttered corn and egg noodles are fine for me. Tofu has good texture- i think it's different from the tofu we buy in American groceries. Obsessed! I LOVE all the Ramen Hakata locations but this one by far is my favorite! The interior is up to date & clean, the AC worked great even during hot Texas summer & the employees were so kind. The broth wasn't heavy or too rich. My babes finished most of my noodles so I should opt for a large ramen next time. The Gyudon was a bit too sweet for my liking. I had to eat bits of ginger with every bite so it wouldn't be too sweet for me. My babes shared an udon, nothing special to add about it as I'm not a huge udon fan, only for the broth. When it was our turn to be seated, we where told by the waitress that they will charge us 18% gratuity. We questioned the waitress why we should be charged 18%. Her response blew our mind. She said that the rule was for 8 people but it was upon their discretion to charge 18%. She further commented, they can charge 18% even if it's only for 1 person, she repeated, it's their discretion. She challenged us, if we don't want to pay the 18%, we can just give up our table. WOW ! Well, we sat down because everyone was already hungry. But while seated at the table, our group of 5 adults started discussing what just happened. That waitress responses really affected everyone's mood. My husband asked for the manager. I got the miso bowl a different day. The miso bowl is a more normal ramen bowl. I wasn't too fond of the noodle with it. This place does not make their own noodles. To start, we had takoyaki, grilled ika, and geso karaage. We also decided to try the yuzu sparkling soda drink! The grilled squid was cooked just right, and the geso karaage was crunchy. We ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE YUZU SPARKLING SODA!! It was so addicting and yummy to drink. Definitely recommend it!! As for entrees, my brother got hakata ramen. He finished it quickly and loved how flavorful it is! My sister liked enjoyed her chicken tonkatsu as well. I was feeling a bit full, so I ordered a mini chashudon!
