I ordered grilled mackeral and two salmon bento that was supposed to come with potato salad, cabbage, edamame, and eggroll but it came with grated radish and boiled spinach instead. This was for dinner to go on a weekend. The eggroll was also missing. I honestly didnt care for anything we got. The grilled mackeral didnt taste like it was grilled. Everything was bland. Maybe we'll give it another try and stick to sushi instead.

Solid place! I think everything was done well, not life changing but legit and tasty. Was craving Tempura and it was such a nice light batter. Lots of parking in a huge lot. Pretty inside with large booths and lots of natural light

First time here and won't be my last! I went for a dinner date with a friend and we started off with fried shishito pepper as our appetizer, then the sashimi assortment deluxe 5 kinds and chicken katsudon. We were very happy and satisfied with everything we ordered! The fried shishito pepper did not have a strong seasoning but the fried and touch of salt taste was just perfect, the chicken katsudon wasn't any special but just good and the sashimi was SUPER DUPER fresh and yummy!! I'm obsessed. The restaurant is spacious and kinda cutesy! The service was good and I will be back real soon!!

    CHICKEN KATSU CURRY

A gem in Plano! Eating this Pork Katsu plate and the Chicken Katsu Curry felt like my husband and I were back in Sunshine City eating at our favorite katsu place in Japan. This place is the real deal. If you are homesick or just missing katsu please stop at this place for it! We also had Hamachi Nigiri and the quality was amazing. They did not skimp on the fish, it was also a good cut and deliciously fresh! The staff were very kind and the inside is very clean. I will definitely be saving this place to return to and recommending others to visit!

I was honestly trying not to make a review on this place until i was able to come back but the food was so good ! I got a mackerel set meal, a banana cherry cocktail, and a yuzu highball . The service was amazing, it was one lady doing 4 tables and she was very efficient and polite. She also made the delicious cocktails ! The ambiance was warm, relaxing and had good background music that wasn't overwhelming. The food and the drinks were so good, and it was literally 30 minutes before they closed ! They ran the place like they weren't closing at all and we got to try some smoked tuna with cucumber (it was delicious‍). I'm looking forward to my next visit to try the chicken katsu curry and a melon float !

Update: December 15, 2025 We went to try their lunch menu. We also brought our middle son, a big fan of Japanese food. They have a different menu for lunch. They also offer combo lunch. I ordered Soba shoyu noodles soup and tuna rolls. They're delicious. Service is great. Great ambiance. Our middle son agreed that this Japanese restaurant is the best so far in the area. They're using fresh and good quality ingredients.

Happy birthday to you! And by you, I mean my youngest brother! My family came here for my brother's birthday, and boy was I blown away! This place had one of the most beautiful and comforting interior decoration/design out of the restaurants I have reviewed so far. The outside had this cool display with action figures. I don't watch anime, but I'm sure if I did, the display would've been even cooler than it already was. W service as well! Tasty food, this place is solid and I will be back

Came here on a recommendation because I was seriously craving ten don, a tempura rice bowl situation, and it hit the spot. I went during lunch and was a little surprised that it was part of their lunch special and it did come with soba noodles and a salad. The soba was comforting and light, and the salad was fresh and simple in the best way. All the tempura l was crispy and satisfying without being too greasy. The wait staff were so kind and attentive, which made the whole experience feel really warm. I would absolutely come back.

Very authentic Japanese restaurant nestled within a quiet shopping complex. They are known for their curries and katsu, which they excel in. We usually order the katsu-ni curry, which is a fried pork cutlet cooked in egg, the katsu curry, or the katsu don, which is a fried pork cutlet over seasoned rice. It's the best tonkatsu and curry I've had in DFW. Part of what makes it great is they use high quality Berkshire pork that is juicy with a good balance of fat. The Jiro-style ramen is also really good. Very hearty and flavorful. The interior here feels like you're in Japan and the staff is actually Japanese which is great. They currently give free soft serve ice cream for kids which is a big plus. We eat here a lot but never get sick of it because it's always a great experience.

I heard how this place had the best tonkatsu so I went to give it a try. I think I made a mistake when I ordered the egg with the tonkatsu since it kinda drowned out the flavor of the pork. It was still pretty good but next time, no egg for sure. My friend said he liked his beef curry udon. I had a piece of his grilled Mackerel and it was just ok. If I was in the area then I'll eat here again but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.

Tucked away in this quiet plaza is one of the most authentic Japanese restaurants in the area. Shokudo literally translates to "eating hall", which to me means food hall - which I can totally feel the vibe when I walk in - and that's not a bad thing! Super casual experience and friendly service - I love being able to just order stuff via QR code and not having to bug the waiter a billion times because I forgot to add something. Authentic flavors and freshness are always a top notch here. I feel like this is an excellent place to get several small things so you can sample many different flavor profiles in one sitting. Personally I like to start with something like the salmon ikura bowl and work my way up to some katsu curry rice to make sure I hit my basic food groups of fish, pork and rice Just be mindful to check their hours - their kitchen usually closes 30 minutes before the doors do, so be sure to leave yourself enough time. This place otherwise doesn't disappoint.

Tried this place out a few days ago since we were shopping in the area. The ambiance is nice and makes you feel like you're in Japan. The food is amazing. I was very impressed by their Katsu Curry and they make their own curry as well. Sometimes it can be a bit too sweet for my liking but I feel like theirs has a good balance and you can pick the spice level. The katsu was well fried and super tasty. The teriyaki chicken is ok, quite basic but not bad. The katsu is what you should go for here. We also got a shrimp tempura roll which was pretty good. Overall we enjoyed the food and I look forward to going back and trying more things. If I want katsu I have a go to place now!

We ordered their Original Takoyaki and Chicken Katsu Curry, both of which hit the spot! The dishes here are so authentic, everything tasted as if it were teleported in from Japan. They even serve Cream Soda here (a Japanese classic)! The restaurant had lots of cute decor. I especially liked reading what others wrote on the Japanese fortune tree as I waited to be seated. I'm in Texas for a short time and am happy to admit that this restaurant was worth the visit despite all of the other restaurants I could have tried.

Last night I stopped by after seeing an ad on an evening scroll on my IG, and the algorithm knows me and my fish-tooth all too well. I drove 25 minutes and was presented with a lowkey shop. I was greeted by the cashier fellow, chose the Classic Box, and loved the authenticity and carefully crafted packaging (nice touch). The sushi was fresh, detailed, and satisfied my cravings. I can see people questioning whether the convenience of these boxes is comparable to restaurant dining experiences in prices, but that's also based on personal preferences as the quality is the same/better than most. I would love to see more box/custom options on the menu! Love to see how this young sushi spot evolves!

The presentation is beautiful! But the food itself was pretty lackluster for the cost. I got a variety set and my bf got the seared salmon set. Admittedly I've been to Aji-Kiji in San Francisco so my standards for boxed sushi omakase level was very high. Aji-Kiji was more elevated from the tiny building room to the food presentation, however the price was great too. Here it felt cheap in a few areas yet the price is the same level as them. The rice isn't the best and by extension, the rolls aren't perfect. I can get over that though, just picky due to the cost. Next, the fish was fishy. It was enough to make me worried if I could get sick. I ended up being fine, but honestly this place is just average sushi made to look better than it is

I got gyoza and Katsu Don, and my partner got a Charashi Bowl and Red Clam sushi. The gyoza I'd say was above average and pleasantly crispy. The provided salad was pleasant with a strong citrusy ginger flavor. The Red Clam sushi had wasabi hidden underneath the meat, so keep that in mind if you're a spice baby like myself. My partner described the Charashi bowl as good, especially for the price. My Katsu Don is where I felt everything fell a little flat. It was overly sweet, the rice underneath tasted a bit stale and like nothing, and the katsu itself was a bit too moist and no longer crispy on the outside. However, I must note that it was an impressive $13, when I feel the usual is more like over $20, for a decent amount. The waitstaff brought us these lovely pre-peeled and cut oranges with the check and they were a nice touch to the meal. Overall we had a decent, pleasant experience here!
