    Wife whom loves Sushi Sakana
    David M.

Well, we were here about 23 days ago with some good friends of ours who introduced us to sushi Sakana, and the wife and I had to come back and try it ourselves! Well, we both started with miso soup and then we ordered a bento box for each of us, one being a salmon and the other being beef tenderloin. Both the salmon and the beef tenderloin are cooked perfectly. There was a nice bed of mixed veggies from the grill underneath each of the two proteins and they were exceptional, added to the flavor of the salmon and the beef tenderloin. The other items we ordered we had California roll. You get four pieces and they were simply delicious and we also got a little salad with mango sauce and I got a couple of Gyoza's. Service was wonderful. They kept our water glasses filled up, brought the meals, promptly and service as always has been impeccable of which we sincerely appreciate. Ambience is typical for a restaurant of the style and turned out real nice. Very enjoyable meal for lunch lunchtime and we thank you very much to the entire staff at sushi Sakana from the cooks to the waitresses, very enjoyable and an enjoyable time

Salmon bowl - not great fish, but the portion size was a happy thing
    Melissa O.

Portion size/value is great (salmon bowl was loaded with salmon), but the food is not good. Pork katsu and karaage were totally unmemorable. Fish was bad quality. Even the toro was mediocre - not sure how that's possible considering it's tuna belly. I've never had toro that was this bland and tough. In a strip mall and feels like it. Service is very friendly, though the dishes came out pretty slowly. Free dessert was a nice touch. Also... they didn't know what karaage was. We actually had to say "Japanese fried chicken." Do with that what you will.

Amazing as always. I came here after leaving another place. This was and will always be the better choice. You want great sushi, come here. If you want great service, come here. The music they play as well makes eating more fun as well. Love this place.

Salmon Bowl (Sake Don) and Red Rose (Salmon, Jalapenos)

I think I found my new favorite sushi takeout spot! Every time I order here I always get the salmon sashimi bowl. I think they're the only one that serves it with the thickest slices ever and the pieces always melts in my mouth. This time I also ordered the red rose which is a no rice roll with tuna and salmon stuffed with jalapeño, crab and avocado. I'm telling you they don't skimp on their portions. The slices are thick and fresh, definitely worth it. They also pack their to-go orders so neatly and I never had an issue with their service. I would love to visit the restaurant in person soon!

Sushi Sakana is a good sushi restaurant in Plano. They offer a modern interior look that brings in a luxury casual experience. The services are quick, kind, and attentive. The food comes out very presentable with clear ingredients demonstrated. The quality is fairly good but not the freshest and provided mediocre flavor with other ingredients. Overall it is worth to try at least once in the area. But be cautious the price is on the higher expensive end listed closely to $20 per rolls.

Fantastic spot for sushi in Plano with great service as well! They offer a wide variety of menu items ranging from sashimi to specialty rolls, and everything we had was delicious! For appetizers, we started with the seaweed salad and agedashi tofu. While the seaweed salad was tasty and refreshing, the agedashi tofu is probably the one item we had that I wouldn't rush to order again. It was good as just fried tofu with a dipping sauce / broth, but it lacked in toppings such as bonito flakes and scallions. Moving onto the sushi, we got the guns & roses roll, hand roll trio (spicy tuna / California / salmon & avocado), sushi combo with 8 pieces, and toro sashimi. All of this was phenomenal -- the fish tasted fresh across the board, the hand rolls were filled to the brim, and the specialty guns & roses roll was flavorful and balanced. If I had to pick, the star of the show for me would have to be the toro sashimi as it was so buttery and delicious. Otherwise, I was very impressed by how much I loved the guns & roses roll since the sauces worked well together and didn't overpower the fresh fish. To finish off our meal, they provided us with a complimentary dessert consisting of taiyaki ice cream with strawberry jam sandwiched in between! It was completely unexpected, but we both really enjoyed the simple and refreshing sweet treat :)

    Chicken Katsu and white rice

Here's a review based on all the photos: I had a really enjoyable dining experience. The food was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The crispy chicken cutlet served with rice was perfectly cooked--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and topped with a rich savory sauce that paired wonderfully with the fluffy rice. The steak bento was another highlight, with juicy, well-seasoned pieces of steak served alongside vegetables and rice, creating a satisfying and balanced meal. The dessert was also a lovely finish to the meal. The small, bite-sized pieces were light and creamy, drizzled with chocolate and arranged nicely on the plate, making it both visually appealing and delicious. The restaurant itself had a warm and cozy atmosphere, with clean table settings and a calm, welcoming environment that made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a great place to relax, enjoy good food, and share a nice meal. I would definitely come back again. Vegas roll

I just moved to Texas and have been looking for a good sushi place and this is far and away the best I have had here. I had the sashimi combo and the Vegas roll, both of which were so so good. The salmon sashimi and yellowtail were my favorites. The chef and server were both really kind and provided great service. Additionally the place is really well done and it's a great place for a date night.

My first time getting takeout from this place & I was impressed! The food was ready in 20 minutes & the pick-up was smooth. The sushi was all super fresh & delicious. Even the soft shell crab wasn't soggy & was yummy. I'd go back & try them again.

    Salmon sashimi (6) -- delicious!!

Sushi Sakana has become our newest obsession, our favorite sushi spot in Plano. Theres a lot of competition right now, but Sushi Sakana stands out. They offer a spectacular menu, qaint cozy sexy ambiance, the rolls are generous (bring your appetite), and the sashimi is always fresh. Yes, the prices are a little high, but the quality more than makes up for it ... you really do get what you pay for.

However, the past two times we shared this place with another couple who loves sushi just as much as my husband and I do. One reason we kept coming back, aside from all the delicious food, was how they labeled their menu with the top food allergens. As a food allergy mom, I appreciated this so much! Especially when I was still breastfeeding, I had to eliminate all of my daughter's allergies to breastfeed safely. The main ones I had to look out for was gluten, dairy, egg, nuts, and sesame seeds. The safe was aware of my limitations and shared empathy, not annoyance like other places. T Thankfully I'm out of that stage so I can eat anything on the menu now. We would like to take our daughter here some day, she loves sushi a lot! But being only 5 years old, we'll need to save it for a special occasion. We get carried away when we come here. The food here is top notch and worth every penny, so we'll have to save up. Cooked dishes we always order: Brussel sprouts, steamed mushrooms, hamachi collar and miso cod. All the nigiri/sushi is fresh and you can't ignore the specials or seasonal menu!

Having lived in Hawaii, we ate sushi, sashimi, and poke on a regular basis. Finding spots like this allows us to create new memories while also feeling a bit nostalgic for the flavors we love. We might have gone a little overboard, but everything was incredible! We ordered the Crunchy Eel Roll, Hamachi Nigiri, and Tuna Nigiri, along with two of the EBESU Course menus. My husband had the Chirashi Don and I went with the Toro Tekka Don. Love, love, love. As you can see, it was a lot of food, but every single piece was cooked and cut to perfection. The dishes are very easy to share, and I think next time we'll lean into that more so we can sample even more of the menu. If you are looking for authentic, high-quality Japanese food, this is the place to go!

I got gyoza and Katsu Don, and my partner got a Charashi Bowl and Red Clam sushi. The gyoza I'd say was above average and pleasantly crispy. The provided salad was pleasant with a strong citrusy ginger flavor. The Red Clam sushi had wasabi hidden underneath the meat, so keep that in mind if you're a spice baby like myself. My partner described the Charashi bowl as good, especially for the price. My Katsu Don is where I felt everything fell a little flat. It was overly sweet, the rice underneath tasted a bit stale and like nothing, and the katsu itself was a bit too moist and no longer crispy on the outside. However, I must note that it was an impressive $13, when I feel the usual is more like over $20, for a decent amount. The waitstaff brought us these lovely pre-peeled and cut oranges with the check and they were a nice touch to the meal. Overall we had a decent, pleasant experience here!

I'd like to start by saying this is some of my favorite gyoza I've ever had, including when I visited Japan. This is a must get. The sauce was delightful, the outside was perfect with a crunchy bottom and soft top, and the filling was delicious. Well worth $7. My bf got some calamari ring tempura, which was fine but we got a small portion compared to when we usually get calamari. There was only like 3 big rings and 2 small on the plate. I also got a Gyu sushi to try. Was it worth $4.50? Maybe, maybe not but I enjoyed it and it was a much higher quality than the beef sushi at say Kura. Now my Beef Yakisoba was questionable honestly. Smaller portion than I'm used to, the beef tasted awkwardly like hamburg and was chewy, and the sauce it was stir fried in was really sweet and thick, almost like honey. Someone might like it but for $18 it wasn't what I expected and wasn't to my tastes Bf got a Charashi bowl for $25 and stated it was mid as expected for the price. I think we would return, but IMO our food was a mixed bag.
