Thoroughly enjoyed this experience! Ok so they have new ownership (same name) so I'd keep that in mind when reading the reviews. My experience was I went in at lunch on a Tuesday. I had 30 minutes and asked the server if that would be enough time. It was! I got the premium lunch all you can eat so nothing was off limits! I ate so much salmon sashimi, tuna, yellow tail. It took some time but I finally got back for an updated impression after the changes at masuki, and I could not be more thrilled. The ayce menu has returned with MUCH improved quality and offerings of sushi and other sides. The fish has been consistently fresh and well cut on my most recent visits, and the yuzu tuna/salmon in particular is a new favorite. I'm also happy to see riceless options still available, as that is always a draw for me. My only note on the food itself would be that I wish there were more options for sashimi as that menu is VERY limited compared to nigiri. The service has also been great, keeping waters filled and making plesant conversation where appropriate. We were excited to see another AYCE place. It's along the side of the strip mall in the H-Mart complex in Plano. Lots of parking and not difficult to find. The space is small compared to most AYCE places and they seem a bit disorganized. Maybe it's something to work out in their early stages. We went for Mother's Day and they charged us something different than what was advertised. It took a few minutes to get seated although there weren't that many seated tables. We received a printed menu and an order form with a pencil. No explanations and they didn't reiterate any of their rules/guidelines. It took ages for someone to come back around to take our order. They came back a few minutes later and said that it could take up to 30 mins for the sushi portion of our order. We had to ask for our drinks twice, another order form, soy sauce, wasabi, ginger.... The sashimi was plated nicely but we would have preferred less focus on plating for faster service. A few of our dishes never made it out. With only one other table occupied, it took approximately 30 minutes to receive the first portion of our order. When requesting a simple substitution (steamed rice instead of fried), our server seemed genuinely puzzled, which added an unexpected twist to the meal. The sushi itself was presented nicely but lacked distinction -- each roll tasting remarkably similar to the next. Service throughout the meal was polite but somewhat disorganized. We arrived around 8:30pm and were seated pretty quick. We were told last order was at 9pm so it might be better to order off menu rather than AYCE which we did. It did end up being cheaper in the long run so thankful for that advise. This is a nice, clean, modern looking place with a mixture of tables and booths. We ordered some rolls, sushi, and were given miso soup. No wasabi or ginger were brought out but were provided on request. While we were eating our first order we were brought the check and the server looked a bit taken aback when I reminded him that last order was at 9pm as I was told.At this point things started to feel a bit rushed and uncomfortable. We were asked if we wanted togo cups for our beers! I'll definitely go back for the AYCE menu but I wouldn't recommend going within at least an hour and a half of closing unless you're looking for a quick bite. Unfortunately I cannot give half marks because this is a solid 3.5 mainly because of the rush and no ginger but it doesn't deserve a 3 either. Always excited to try new Asian restaurants especially if it's a buffet and a sushi place. We stopped in for their lunch special AYCE for $19.99 and I thought it was a fair price for what they offer. Started off with miso soup which has a good flavor, calamari ring which is always a a hit for me and shrimp pot stickers that I really didn't care for. The sushi and rolls we had were average at best but for the price I really have nothing to complain about. They look fresh, made to order and have decent rice to fish ratio. I don't know what's the menu difference for lunch and dinner but I might come back again for another odd hour lunch adventure. read more

Nice to have a new AYCE Around this area. Seems like they are in their soft opening stage. We had several choices of sushi and rolls plus a few of their appetizers. This place had wonderful hospitality from the staff, and great engagement from the manager, Deuk. Food arrived promptly, and the two options for AYCE offered great items from Regular to Premium items. There was the added bonus of Ramen, which we promptly order after seeing. They recently changed ownership and are really focused on quality. Tempura items are all hand battered. Sushi quality was great. I highly recommend the seared tuna and salmon in the nigiri section. Let me preface this review by saying we feel extremely fortunate that we did not get sick after eating here. From the very first bite, it was obvious the fish was not fresh. Many of the pieces were mushy or had coloring and taste issue. The tuna served to us was brown with white edges -- not the vibrant color you expect from quality fresh tuna. Fresh tuna should appear bright and clean in color; brown or gray tones are signs of oxidation and aging, often indicating the fish is past its prime. For an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant, the fact that we only ordered one round and left half of it on the plate says everything. The quality was disappointing enough that we lost our appetite almost immediately. It's even more troubling that the young waiter didn't question us when we told him the fish was bad and pointed it out to him and then asked for our check. I would have expected him to go get his manager. We definitely will not be returning. read more

So. I'm still shocked as I type this to think how they fry eel here. Every eel based sushi is fried. Hella fried. Tempura fried. And I didn't expect that because despite getting eel at a good 30-40 restaurants in the past few years I've not once had every eel dish at the restaurant be fried. The place is AYCE and as such charges you if you don't finish the food so I struggled to get through one roll and barely made it, but did it. Soju is only plain. No plum wine. Some basic sake. And some beers. Which maybe some better drinks would've made the difference with that eel struggle but other than that truly mind boggling decision to waste eel like that...everything else was decent. Reasonably priced considering all they offer. I just hate what they did to those poor poor eels. I'm sorry yall died for bad sushi. But the rest was great. There was only three kinds of sashimi on the menu (salmon, tuna, and yellowtail.) The beef hibachi was a complete joke. It came with a whole plate of onions and a few morsels of beef. Beef was tough too. Chicken karagee was dry & meat was not marinated well . No mayo to accompany . Miso soup was overly salty Quality of food here is below average. Dessert was not included. The only saving grace was the good service because there were only a few tables. This would be more of a place if you only liked sushis. We had a really disappointing experience at Masuki Sushi. When we first arrived, the hostess led us to a dirty table, then told us to go wait by the front door so she could clean it--even though there were plenty of clean, open tables available (only two other groups of customers were present). Once we were finally seated, we were handed an order sheet with zero explanation about how the all-you-can-eat system worked. We later found out (after ordering) that there were limitations, like only one premium appetizer per person, but no one mentioned this upfront. After submitting our order, a server came back and told us we had ordered too much and made us reduce it, which was frustrating. The food came out extremely slowly, EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE ONLY TWO OTHER GROUPS IN THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT. Because of the delays, we only managed to get in three rounds of food--and we didn't order that much. Just as we were trying to place another round, we were told we were over the time limit--again, a rule no one informed us about when we were seated (it turned out to be 75 min order limit and a 90 min sit limit). We were promptly kicked out of the restaurant after paying. On top of all that, we were never offered water until we asked, they forgot one of our sake orders, and then charged us for it anyway (which I had to dispute). The food itself was okay. The yellowtail was especially good--nice and fatty--but the rest was standard all-you-can-eat sushi quality. I was the only person in the restaurant I asked if there was anyway I can make a modification because I have a dietary restrictions due to a chronic illness. It was explained to me that they are under new management meaning new owners just as 11 days ago the waiter was very kind however that's where the positive experience ended. I was the only person in the restaurant during lunchtime, a restaurant which is beautifully furnished. Given my chronic health issue I explained how I can't eat raw fish I needed anything and everything seared. Well what was served as seared looked more like it was thawed out. Server got napkins for me , oh that's another thing they don't give napkins they give the cheapest little things that you would get off the hotdog truck to wipe face. The food was absolutely horrific. I was vomiting everywhere at the table on a plate all over table in a tall glass. It was so awful and still is and it's late late wed night / early thurs am.on top of all the vomiting and hardly ordering any food he charged me $40. The posted price is different. for past 36 hrs I've been so sick! I still can't get over that they told me it was $40 and fully charged me. I did leave a tip because I was assuming the server is probably working his way through college or something and the fact that I was the only person there I felt bad for him.
