Geisha - 3/5, huge roll, but the spicy tuna was not raw. It was cooked, which gave a texture that was akin to being canned or from a bag. Ocean 21 - 5/5, my fave of the night! The steak was cooked correctly at medium rare, but was extremely bland and chewy. The sea bass was outstanding. The server was nice, but never asked what we wanted to drink. We came for a birthday party and brought our 5 year old son for his first hibachi experience. He has a slight speech impediment but he's super friendly and chatty. He tried talking to the cook several times and the cook made fun of the way he spoke. He asked what language he was speaking, if he spoke English and if he was from somewhere else. I know they're supposed to be funny but he only made fun of my son and made normal funny comments otherwise. And who makes fun of a 5 year old with a speech impediment?! One other guest even commented saying "cmon man you know what he's saying, don't do that." I was pissed and would have left if it wouldn't have ruined the night for everyone else. So I was a good sport about it at the time. But we'll never be back. No one from our party will be. We paid over $100 for my son to be roasted by a chef. He should be ashamed of himself. I haven't had the best experiences with the quality or taste of hibachi food but this place was decent; they give you noodles and rice in good portions and the food is fresh. I had the snapper and shrimp combo hibachi and to me the snapper was just okay, the shrimp was great and adding yum yum sauce and spicy sauce took it over the top! My date enjoyed his food a lot and it was Valentine's Day; the staff was really friendly and entertaining and the service was fast. Today is October 10th. I called to make a reservation for November 22. She was surprised I was calling so early so no problem, right? Wrong. This reservation was for my son's birthday with all his friends and some of us parents. We needed 1 and a half tables for 7:00pm. They did not agree to this. They wanted to force me to go at 8:00pm which was too late for us. They refused my business and reservation. We do Habachi all the time and I do most birthdays at Habachi. When my family and I arrived for our evening reservation, the restaurant was pretty much empty but became livelier as the evening went on. We were seated at our own grill and were given complimentary miso soup and a small salad, shortly after ordering what we each wanted, our chef arrived to begin the show. Our chef was full of energy and very kind. I had disclosed that we wanted halal meat over the phone and the chef greeted us with salams as he began his show, I loved the inclusivity that he and the rest of the staff showed. We mentioned it would be a big group so they sat us secluded in the back room which was perfect, upon entry I notice a strand of hair on the table dangling. I didn't say anything just politely wiped it away. Next, the server came and got all of our drink orders and we were like okay service is moving fast on a Friday. We were happy then when it came time to order the food the server disappeared for what felt like over 40mins. He didn't take our order until about 7:50 p.m. someone had to go find him in order to get that done. The chef was amazing he made the LONG wait worth it. The food was amazing, he sung happy birthday to our son. I mean it was really nice in the end. I just want this to never happen again as we spent 200$ with TIP included.. I know he send the big table and immediately thought "I don't have to do to much work because my tip is going to be nice." But that's not how that works. A few of my favorite things are: Ahi Tuna tower with no rice, the butterfly kiss which is a sashimi roll with no rice, and any of the naruto rolls. The last time we were there they just started an "All You Can Eat Sushi" menu. Not a buffet. You order from a small menu. Lunch is $14.00 and Dinner is $30.00. However you see the amount of water in the glass, the sole existence of a dedicated halal hibachi location for the Dallas-Fort Worth is something worth celebrating. Although it comes with a $2 surcharge and with advanced reservations, this something is certainly better than nothing. Service here is stellar, especially considering the ups and downs of managing a Non-Traditional dinner event. They were able to coordinate with us so that we had hot food on our plates in time to eat, and were very accommodating when it came time to pray. I couldn't ask for better. Now in terms of what's halal, they carry limited quantities of chicken and filet mignon, not steak, plus obviously all of their seafood option. They do use some sake in cooking and show, but were ready to supply us without. The meat was cooked right to temp and was fresh, delicious and most importantly fun. Remember to mix everything together and use their sauces for maximum flavor! I know myself and others were ectastic when we found out there was halal hibachi, but with DFW I was ready to be disappointed. Four stars mainly because it was a darn good value. I had more than enough food for lunch and after tax and tip it was about $15. I got plenty of decent quality sashimi. Some shrimp, fish balls, a crab/rice cake, a soup, a salad. I was very content with everything and would come again to try the three roll lunch special which is the same price. My friends each got their choices of three rolls and they were completely happy with that.
