We got the grilled beef tongue, grilled salmon, tonkatsu, pork belly, and potato croquet. The beef tongue was tender and delicious. The grilled salmon was good too, but I would like go try a different dish next time. The pork belly was good too. It was in a sweet sauce. The tonkatsu was huge (you have to ask for it since it's not on the menu) and it tasted great too. The potato croquet was also good. My bf really liked the tonkatsu, beef tongue, and potato croquet. I returned to Sushi Robata for their dinner menu. Dinner is more of an izakaya style with smaller a la carte dishes. Some of the things we ordered were the grilled shishito peppers, yellowtail fish collar, shrimp and vegetable tempura, special sashimi combo, and tempura ice cream. The special menu shows all the fish they have in stock for the day and where they are from in Japan. We had the special sashimi combo and was thoroughly impressed with the presentation and freshness of the fish. It was served with real grated wasabi which was the winner for me. The dinner ended with one of my favorite desserts, tempura ice cream. I'm so happy they have a choice between matcha and vanilla. Matcha was my go-to. Light crispy outside with rich tea ice cream in the middle. Service was perfect. The staff are all Japanese and showed genuine Japanese hospitality. They knew I had a reservation and asked if I had preference where I wanted to sit. The servers took time to explain the menu and accommodated the portion sizes because we had an odd number party. I had an incredibly upsetting experience at this restaurant and will never return. I stopped in to grab a drink and sit with my African American coworkers, who were already eating at the bar as paying customers. As soon as I walked in and headed toward the restroom, I was immediately confronted by a waitress who told me I couldn't use the bathroom because, according to her, there were only two people at the table. I explained multiple times that I was with the group at the bar and had every intention of joining them as a customer. Despite clarifying this, she continued to accuse me of lying and even followed me to the restroom, insisting that I didn't know the people I was with. The entire interaction was humiliating, hostile, and completely unnecessary. I understand that many restaurants have policies stating that restrooms are for customers only. I respect that. However, my coworkers were paying customers, and I was there to join them. Instead of treating me with basic courtesy and giving me the benefit of the doubt, I was singled out, harassed, and made to feel unwelcome. My coworkers were embarrassed and shocked by how I was treated. The way this situation was handled felt rooted in harmful stereotypes and racial bias. No customer should be followed, accused of lying, or publicly humiliated for trying to use the restroom while joining friends who are already dining there. Because of this experience, I chose not to spend my money there, and I will not be returning. I sincerely hope management addresses this behavior and provides better training to ensure other customers are treated with dignity and respect. read more

Ordered takeout through the phone; got a philly roll, fatty tuna nigiri, salmon sashimi, and a volcano roll. Philly roll was good and had raw salmon in it which was nice, and the cream cheese flavor was pungent. Salmon sashimi was also good and had a nice firm bite to it. This was my first time trying fatty tuna and I can say it was great, and was definitely the standout in this order; no fishiness whatsoever, had a nice pink hue to it and felt like butter in my mouth. For the volcano roll, they actually forgot to give it to us, and we had to go back and get it which sucked. However it was okay, it had lots of sauce and crawfish toppings were nice as well, but nothing crazy. Overall would this place a 7.5/10. read more

We usually get the order to-go , and they provide the microwave safe box, however, if dine in at the restaurant with the same thing, they will provide only the cheapest plastic foam box, but not the microwave safe box even u ask for the other one. They only want to save the tiny cost but not providing customer better experience. Not the traditional Japanese culture and service level you would expect but price range is mid/high comparing with other Japanese restaurants. Will not go back again and will not recommend anyone if you expect good service. Save several cents but lost 10 year customer. Good job. read more

Tried this place for the first time today and it was a good choice for dinner. The service is great as the servers here clear out your plates as you finish them but it's not to the point where it feels like they're hovering. As it was my first time here it took me a while looking through the menu as I tried to decide what to get and I did not feel rushed at all. For the appetizers we got the ebi tempura and two different skewers. The ebi tempura was light and crispy which I liked a lot. The skewers on the other hand were lacking a bit of flavor in the meat itself even after adding the togarashi on top. As for the sushi we got the spicy salmon, dallas roll, and golden dragon roll. I think my favorite was the spicy salmon, I like how it is chunks of salmon instead of traditional spicy salmon where it is mashed together. The Dallas roll and Golden Dragon rolls were good too. Our family has been long time Sushi Robata customers since they were at the tiny food court behind the Mei Hua Supermarket. I am a cancer patient with dietary restrictions. Last night, I brought my own purified water to the restaurant for a celebration meal with my family. The lady in charge came to our table to tell us no outside water allowed. I explained I needed my purified water due to my medical condition. She offered their filtered water or I can buy their water in a bottle. I explained again for my medical condition, my own purified water was safer for me. She still said not allowed. So I did not eat nor drink water and just watched my family finish the ordered foods. Stopped by Sushi Robata a few days ago to celebrate a friend's birthday! It was a Wednesday night around 6:30 when I arrived and there were several other patrons already but the place wasn't too busy. My friend and I arrived separately but the staff allowed me to sit at a table for two early as I waited for her to get here. The ambience inside is very cute and homey and the service here was really great! Our server came by multiple times to check up on us and make sure we were doing okay, and even took care to ask if we wanted wasabi in our nigiri and what kind of soy sauce we'd like (low sodium or regular). My friend and I split a tonkotsu ramen and they even offered to split it into two smaller bowls for us when we put the order in, which I thought was a really nice touch. We also ordered some takoyaki to share, and we got our own selection of nigiris. I also added a chawanmushi to my meal because I love it and wanted to try theirs. The ramen was quite solid, and had some interesting toppings that I don't see too often, such as pickled mustard greens. The chashu was very tender and the broth was super flavorful without being too salty. I wasn't a huge fan of the egg included, as it was totally hard boiled to the point of chalky yolks; personally I prefer a runny egg. But all in all a solid option in this area. Takoyaki was excellent and probably the best I've had in the North Dallas/Plano/Addison area. Chawanmushi came out piping hot and was packed with goodies like bay scallop, shrimp, mushrooms, and fish cake. Egg was super fluffy and flavorful! Nigiri was priced very reasonably and each order comes with two pieces, so I didn't get the chance to try quite as many fish as I wanted to. I ordered mainly off the specials menu and all the fish that came out was super fresh. My favorites of the night were probably the sawara and the shima aji. Unfortunately the sushi rice left something to be desired; to me it was quite bland. Personally I like a stronger flavor in the rice from vinegar sugar and salt, but I had to dip these pieces in a soy sauce and wasabi. Next time I might consider sashimi sets or ordering sashimi a la carte. We were both stuffed after the savory foods, but it was a birthday celebration so we finished with strawberry shortcake, which I believe is made in house. It was super light and fluffy and the perfect sweetness. Cream complimented the tart sweetness of the strawberries wonderfully. There are so many other cooked items on the menu that I'd love to come back and try in the future, maybe with a larger group. Their menu is truly so extensive and it was overwhelming trying to narrow down choices, so coming with more people to share a bunch of things is my next goal :) I don't see mont blanc on dessert menus often in this area, so definitely want to come back and try that in particular. I can't say enough good things about this sushiya. Having lived in Japan, I'm unfortunately as snobby as they come (unfortunately because it's so hard to find a truly great authentic sushi place). And the Taisho here was incredible, gave us the best of the best, super authentic and delicious!! I'm not sure if they have an Omakase on the menu, but he took care of us start to finish as if they did. From the engawa, to the shima aji, Kama toro, and more, we were so satisfied and had the best time. The rest of the staff was so nice, fun chatting about anime, and just an incredible experience. There were 3-4 separate menus I felt because we asked for alcohol and one had wine the other beer but we finally got settled and ordered lunch special sushi rolls.
