Sushi Robata is one of the better sushi places in DFW. I think it's been around a long time too? I've been to Sushi Robata many times and their sushi quality has stayed the same good quality. Their other non-sushi dishes are good as well. There's a reason they've around for so long. You might have to wait a bit for a table on the weekend. Although they do take reservations for big parties.

Ordered takeout through the phone; got a philly roll, fatty tuna nigiri, salmon sashimi, and a volcano roll. Philly roll was good and had raw salmon in it which was nice, and the cream cheese flavor was pungent. Salmon sashimi was also good and had a nice firm bite to it. This was my first time trying fatty tuna and I can say it was great, and was definitely the standout in this order; no fishiness whatsoever, had a nice pink hue to it and felt like butter in my mouth. For the volcano roll, they actually forgot to give it to us, and we had to go back and get it which sucked. However it was okay, it had lots of sauce and crawfish toppings were nice as well, but nothing crazy. Overall would this place a 7.5/10.

Delicious bento boxes. Comes with rice, miso soup and cold and crisp side salad. Quick service and friendly waitresses. Great place for work lunch as you can get out in less than an hour! Chill ambiance!

Tried this place for the first time today and it was a good choice for dinner. The service is great as the servers here clear out your plates as you finish them but it's not to the point where it feels like they're hovering. As it was my first time here it took me a while looking through the menu as I tried to decide what to get and I did not feel rushed at all. For the appetizers we got the ebi tempura and two different skewers. The ebi tempura was light and crispy which I liked a lot. The skewers on the other hand were lacking a bit of flavor in the meat itself even after adding the togarashi on top. As for the sushi we got the spicy salmon, dallas roll, and golden dragon roll. I think my favorite was the spicy salmon, I like how it is chunks of salmon instead of traditional spicy salmon where it is mashed together. The Dallas roll and Golden Dragon rolls were good too. Overall, I think this is a pretty decent spot to go for dinner with a friend or with family if you are around the area. It is more on the quiet and lowkey side when it comes to vibes of the place.

The Dallas roll taste like plastic. The chicken screwer had no flavor. The tequila sunrise was so water down, I couldn't taste the alcohol. I have never been to a place where it was all bad. I love sushi and I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Pretty good experience with delicious sushi. It does get packed and when it does, service gets affected. Still, all sushi here is fresh. It's been a while since I went here but couldn't be happier

It is a different world when you walk inside Sushi Robata. You leave the heat and city hustle and bustle and step into a nice cool and dimly lit relaxing "food spa". However as the place began to fill up, it became evident that the place does not absorb sound well and the noise within rose in crescendo with the crowd size. The music also changed to a style that I will only describe as less than pleasant. We were not seated more than a moment before our server arrived to take our drink and food orders. We started out with Edamame and Seaweed Salad. Both were good. My favorite thing about the Edamame was that it was not overly salted as many places serve it. My Shrimp Sushi was very good and the Salmon Shashimi good, not great. It is in season currently so I was a bit disappointed by it not being "great". My Shrimp Tempura Roll was more mush than crunch, so that was disappointing as well. Overall, the experience failed to impress. While not horrible, it was just ok, so I honestly don't know that I would return.

I called in a to-go order, and I ended up waiting for a while after arriving to be acknowledged by any of the staff, which was a little disappointing. The sushi was good though! They have a really good lunch deal.

Stopped by Sushi Robata a few days ago to celebrate a friend's birthday! It was a Wednesday night around 6:30 when I arrived and there were several other patrons already but the place wasn't too busy. My friend and I arrived separately but the staff allowed me to sit at a table for two early as I waited for her to get here. The ambience inside is very cute and homey and the service here was really great! Our server came by multiple times to check up on us and make sure we were doing okay, and even took care to ask if we wanted wasabi in our nigiri and what kind of soy sauce we'd like (low sodium or regular). My friend and I split a tonkotsu ramen and they even offered to split it into two smaller bowls for us when we put the order in, which I thought was a really nice touch. We also ordered some takoyaki to share, and we got our own selection of nigiris. I also added a chawanmushi to my meal because I love it and wanted to try theirs. The ramen was quite solid, and had some interesting toppings that I don't see too often, such as pickled mustard greens. The chashu was very tender and the broth was super flavorful without being too salty. I wasn't a huge fan of the egg included, as it was totally hard boiled to the point of chalky yolks; personally I prefer a runny egg. But all in all a solid option in this area. Takoyaki was excellent and probably the best I've had in the North Dallas/Plano/Addison area. Chawanmushi came out piping hot and was packed with goodies like bay scallop, shrimp, mushrooms, and fish cake. Egg was super fluffy and flavorful! Nigiri was priced very reasonably and each order comes with two pieces, so I didn't get the chance to try quite as many fish as I wanted to. I ordered mainly off the specials menu and all the fish that came out was super fresh. My favorites of the night were probably the sawara and the shima aji. Unfortunately the sushi rice left something to be desired; to me it was quite bland. Personally I like a stronger flavor in the rice from vinegar sugar and salt, but I had to dip these pieces in a soy sauce and wasabi. Next time I might consider sashimi sets or ordering sashimi a la carte. We were both stuffed after the savory foods, but it was a birthday celebration so we finished with strawberry shortcake, which I believe is made in house. It was super light and fluffy and the perfect sweetness. Cream complimented the tart sweetness of the strawberries wonderfully. There are so many other cooked items on the menu that I'd love to come back and try in the future, maybe with a larger group. Their menu is truly so extensive and it was overwhelming trying to narrow down choices, so coming with more people to share a bunch of things is my next goal :) I don't see mont blanc on dessert menus often in this area, so definitely want to come back and try that in particular. Thanks for a great experience, Sushi Robata! Can't wait to return.

I can't say enough good things about this sushiya. Having lived in Japan, I'm unfortunately as snobby as they come (unfortunately because it's so hard to find a truly great authentic sushi place). And the Taisho here was incredible, gave us the best of the best, super authentic and delicious!! I'm not sure if they have an Omakase on the menu, but he took care of us start to finish as if they did. From the engawa, to the shima aji, Kama toro, and more, we were so satisfied and had the best time. The rest of the staff was so nice, fun chatting about anime, and just an incredible experience. Highly recommended. For any real sushi lover, come and enjoy. Even the Sushi Geek would be happy here!

Overall: solid local Japanese restaurant with friendly understanding service. Menu is a slightly odd hodge podge of sushi, bentos, noodles, and more but definitely a surprising find in the heart of Texas. Food: agedashi tofu to start was fried well with a thin crispy layer. The raw fish were fresh without the fishy smell or flavor. The rolls were exceptionally long and well rolled. Ambience/Decor/Service: very normal decor with a small sushi bar and plenty of tables. Waiters with their quick service. We accidentally ordered the wrong item and they were super understanding getting it switch out for us!

Not a problem since we enjoyed sitting on the patio and enjoying our drinks. The bartenders were great, fast and very friendly. I appreciate that before pouring my wine, the one bartender put in a lot of effort to buffing my glass. I ordered a plum wine to start, which is always delicious and sweet. We were seated a little earlier than 20 minutes, but unfortunately weren't greeted for a bit following that. They were super busy though. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable, and we stuck with splitting apps versus getting ramen. We ordered the shishito peppers, karaage, takoyaki, and edamame. To drink, we ordered and split the hot sake. The first plates came out pretty quickly, and were hot and delicious. Our hot sake took a while to be delivered, and we had to ask our waiter to double check it was still on the way. Then when it arrived, we had to fight off a bunch of gnats that kept landing on the bottle. I guess they wanted to party, too! The shishito peppers were definitely my favorite. They were perfectly coated in sauce and flavoring. The karaage was tender and tastes especially good when paired with the watermelon. takoyaki was served hot and it's a blast watching the Bonita flakes dance on the balls. The edamame, while good, needed to be stirred up because the salt distribution was heavy on certain pieces. We wished we could order dessert, but felt a bit rushed by the server. It was a little before 10pm, so we understand they're off at 11pm, but as a former server there's definitely better ways to keep up with the closing process that feels less intrusive to the patrons. Overall, we had a blast at Wabi house and the food was great. Maybe we went on an off night for service, but overall will definitely be back again!!

I am surprised despite the popularity, the wait was not long at all and we were able to get seat almost immediately. For the first time, we ordered 2 appetizers - shrimp tempura and gyoza, not particularly outstanding, but they came out fast! As we were diving into our appetizers, the ramen was ready for us. I had the Spicy Miso Special (with mild spice) and my boyfriend had the Hinodeya special with medium spice. I personally like mine better because it was creamy and super flavorful compared to the Hinodeya special. My boyfriend tends to get stomach ache and fee bloated if he eats too much MSG. But he didn't feel any of those symptoms. To him, it was one of the biggest indicators if that is a good ramen or not. For the second time, we ordered takoyaki and karaage. Again, nothing too outstanding. This time, my boyfriend had what I had last time and I ordered the Tonkatsu special (no pic, sorry!). Maybe because of the lack of spice, I still prefer the Spicy Miso Special over Tonkatsu (Tonkatsu ramen is always my go-to in ramen spots). Regardless, we enjoyed our meals very much in both times. I think we have found our go-to ramen spot in DFW area!

The appetizer also came with a decent amount of pieces (I think 5?). After this I ordered the spicy miso special ramen which was superb. They give you the option to change the spiciness which I appreciated because sometimes you want something very spicy and sometimes you don't. Everything in the ramen was fantastic: the egg was gooey, the pork melted in my mouth, and the noodles were firm without being overcooked. The broth was seasoned so well and super yummy to where I didn't feel the need to add anything to my bowl. My total for my food plus a soda came to about $30 which is typical for the amount I got. I'd say it was definitely worth it! I will say, if you're a bit messy like I am, to wear a dark colored shirt since you may leave with a few broth stains. (Still worth it).

The inside is tiny and there isn't even a proper "waiting" area. I've also tried coming here before, and there was also a long wait. I'm glad I decided to stick it out this time. We ordered the Wagyu sushi, Yakitori, Tonkotsu Miso Ramen, and the Tomato Ramen. The Wagyu sushi is torched right in front of you! The Wagyu was incredibly tender and the sauce was delicious. My only *nitpicky* critique is the rice was ever so slightly too moist, but that didn't stop me from inhaling the sushi. Next, the Yakitori was phenomenal. I've never had such tender chicken in my life. There was a nice layer of delicious sauce coating the skewer. Again, just a really nitpicky feedback I have was that I wish the Yakitori had the tiniest bit more char to it, but nevertheless was an incredible bite, and I'd 100% order again in a heartbeat. Onto the ramen - easily hands down one of the best ramen I've had in DFW. The broth is flavorful, and I love the noodles. I'm not sure if they're handmade from scratch, but they had the perfect thickness and chewiness. I also loved generous the portion of cha shu slices. Most other places only give you 1-2 thin slices, but that was not the case here. The pork was tender. The ajitama was solid too, although I prefer more of a soft-boiled egg. While the meat portion is more generous here, the tonkotsu didn't come with many vegetables. A lot of other ramen places I've been to will have corn, fried garlic, etc as default, but those are all additional cost add-ons here. The ramen was delicious without them though but just something to note. We also got the tomato ramen as it's the chef recommendation. The dish is very creative and the execution was great. Personally, I still prefer traditional ramens but it was certainly a nice culinary creation to try. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and would come here again. Just be aware there may be a wait, and because they're so busy, you do have to proactively flag down staff. However, the staff are still really nice despite all the tasks they're juggling at once.

I'm going to preface this by saying there's a lot of potential here but it's sufficient for the…read moredemographic that it serves. We got spicy gyoza to start, black pork tonkatsu w/ small curry rice bowl and a spicy dan dan. Gyoza came smothered in their sweet garlic chilli which defeats the purpose of a crispy gyoza skirt. It might be better to retain the crisp and crunch of the gyoza skin with the chilli sauce on the side? On to the ramen -- if you want to know if you're getting a quality bowl, look no further than the preparation of the egg. No respectable ramen shop would serve you well done boiled eggs which was the case here. The tonkatsu had heavy garlic flavor which is good but was unfortunately overshadowed by the abundance of burnt garlic bits. Not much to say about the Dan Dan. Bathroom clean but had a strong smelled. Would not go out of my way nor return with the amount of noodle options in dfw.

The noodles were delightfully chewy and the broth had a rich and full flavor without being overly fatty; I finished every drop of the garlicky goodness. The pork chashu was tender and the egg had a jammy orange yolk. The Birria ramen sounded interesting but a bit gimmicky. They also have chicken ramen for those who cannot appreciate the deliciousness that pork offers. The interior was cozy and upscale for a ramen spot and they have an outdoor patio which is nearly as large as the inside. The service was respectable but not noteworthy. Cons: A little pricey but I guess that's par for the course in Preston Hollow. $23 for my bowl of ramen after tax & tip. Moriya Shokuda is still my current favorite ramen spot but JINYA is very solid! 4.5 stars!

Parking wasn't bad either, there are lots and a garage nearby. However, the food itself fell flat for me. We ordered the crispy chicken happy hour special, which comes with a side salad. The chicken was on the dry side. Whenever I order Kaarage, it usually comes with a dipping sauce, but there was none here and that would've really helped out. The dressing on the side salad was way too acidic, making it hard to eat as well. In addition, we ordered the takoyaki as an appetizer. The takoyaki themselves were pretty solid, but the texture of the mayo was off. I'm not sure if they make their mayo in-house, but i noticed it was curdled. For the ramen, we ordered Jinya Tonkotsu Black and Creamy Veggie Ramen. Pricing is standard for DFW ramen restaurants, although *slightly* higher than some others (by like $1). The base ramen comes with a good variety of toppings! However, the ramen was just okay. The noodles are on the skinnier side, which I prefer thicker, chewier noodles. The pork chashu serving was small, and it tasted kind of old and wasn't that tender nor flavorful. The broth was just alright. I prefer soft-boiled, jammy ramen eggs, but the ajitama here was cooked longer than I would've liked. Ironically, I thought the veggie ramen was *much* better. The broth had better flavor, and they use different noodles than the tonkotsu, which were thicker (and exactly what I like!). Lastly, we had the matcha tiramisu for dessert. On a positive note, the matcha flavor was detectable. However, the tiramisu crème wasn't that fluffy, and there were noticeable amounts of undissolved sugar. Both the curdled mayo and tiramisu crème provide enough data points to suggest that whoever in the kitchen is responsible for blending/mixing needs some more training and attention to detail.

I went the day before Thanksgiving and the japanese chef was a one man show. He was the only one running the establishment because everyone else had left to go to Japan for the holiday. He is so so so so nice. I don't go back to restaurants very often but this place has my heart. This time I got the spicy pork ramen (17), spicy garlic chicken ramen (18), and then got the spicy garlic pork ramen (19) togo. I will say it is a little bit salty, with the garlic ones being more salty than the non garlic ones. However the garlic ones do have more flavor. There's not that much meat/protein either just one piece of meat and an egg. The could be slightly better but it's still good. It also just has bamboo shoots but nothing else. A very simple bowl. Ambiance is nice, it feels upscale but also homey at the same time. They have an open kitchen concept which I like.

I had to dig for it. I know they probably put the meat at the bottom so it'll warm up with the broth, but I prefer it at the top. The egg was whole and cooked so it was a little runny inside, which I liked. I also liked the noodles. Unrelated to the food, I sat on the bench and there was a customer sitting on the bench beside me. She kept shifting around and causing the entire bench to move, which I didn't like.
