    Chicken Katsu
    Anthony B.

AMAZING Best food I've had since Japan. The Katsu is delicious, and I highly recommend the Chicken Karaage! They also have Asai beer on tap, very cold and refreshing! The service is amazing, and you have the option to self-order at the kiosk, or order at the register. Their Takoyaki is also very delicious! Very authentic and local, it's in a food court inside of Mitsuwa Market, so it may get packed, overall, it's a relaxing atmosphere. This is a must!!

Quick and delicious!! Ordered at the kiosks up front. I had the chicken tempura combo, which came with chicken, some lettuce, miso soup, and rice. The chicken was delicious and crispy! Very generous portion size as well. I also ordered the dashi negi oroshi takoyaki, which was just okay. It came with soup, which made the takoyakis soggy at the bottom. Not the biggest fan because of the texture.

This place is located inside Mitsuwa. The food was average and the prices were decent. The wait time was about 20 mins for the order I placed which was 4 skewers and Tako Wasabi. I kinda wish it was shorter wait time, but I was happy the food came out freshly cooked.

Genuinely delicious. We've eaten here several times since they opened, and their food is really consistent. Especially given the speed, this take-out is simply fantastic.

I just ordered some foods tonight. Since I'm eating here on food tray had a cockroach running on my tray. I took my food tray to tell cashier but she didn't say anything when she saw cockroach running and took my food tray away with all full foods that I'm not finish yet. I don't have chance to take the picture of cockroach but it was supper bad service. I'm SO really mad. I will call my bank take my money back. What the food court is that?

So the food ain't bad but the picture on the menu is a total misrepresentation of what you get. I didn't want to say something but I did and frankly they don't care. I'd pay a few dollars more for more eel but I don't think I should have to. It's 4-5 pieces of eel on rice with sauce for $18.95?!

Small portions. Order per meat pieces and not entire meal. Some of the flavors was odd and a little salty. At least I tried it.

My first time and experience here was Saturday. It is too…read moresmall of a place for how good it is. But on the flip side, it's so good that it's worth the wait. We showed up with a party of 10 and they got us sat in roughly 20 minutes which I think was a fair amount of time for a Saturday 1:00pm time frame. Staff were all friendly and attentive. I got the pork cutlet omelet with cheese and spice level 7. My goodness, I inhaled that dish. We were coming up to fortworth for a thing and drove with some friends an extra 45 minutes in the opposite direction just to have this a second time on Sunday. Needless to say, I am a huge fan and will probably be driving out from San Antonio soon just for lunch here.

On the way back from a road trip to Paris, (sadly not the one with croissants, we are talking Paris…read moreTexas), we stopped in Frisco for an early dinner and found a winner. I came across this spot on Yelp where the reviews were glowing, though I will say the menu is a little confusing.... That holds true in person too, but thankfully there are photos to guide you, which helps a lot. Also worth noting, they offer 20 (twenty!!!) levels of spiciness, which feels both exciting and pretty intimidating. I went with the pork katsu curry with rice. The omelet dishes looked amazing too and I was tempted, but crispy curry & rice won the day. I told the waiter I wanted medium spice and said 5, and the server smiled and said he would give me a level 1. I laughed, but he knew exactly what he was doing because even level 1 had a solid kick. My hubby ordered the same dish with chicken and added veggies (and cheese(. He decided to be bold and went with a level 2. Honestly, mine might have even tasted spicier, but at that point it is all relative. We arrived around 4:45pm on a Saturday and it was easy to get seated. By the time we left, the place was completely packed and there was a line forming, which tells you everything you need to know. The pork was perfectly crispy, the rice had that ideal sticky texture, and the curry sauce was rich and generous. Every bite hit the spot.

This Mitsuwa location is located within a strip plaza with a good amount of parking. There are two entrances, with one closer to the food court area. The marketplace is smaller than the Mitsuwa location I used to frequent in Edgewater, New Jersey, and possibly closer in size to the Waikiki location, but that was to be expected. Their food court area was also small and had a handful of restaurants. The restrooms are located all the to the right side of the establishment, past the food court. While there are many Japanese goods available at this marketplace, the goods are not inexpensive. I appreciate they have my favorite drinks like CC Lemon and matcha, Japanese beauty products, and even some harder to come by Hawaiian Suns. There is a section to pick up pre-made sushi and cold food items as well as a pre-made and heat lamp covered area for hot food items, but both looked kind of dry. Not my favorite Mitsuwa location but would suffice and happy to have it around when I do need something in particular.

The restaurant wasn't busy at the time, so it was no big deal, but worth noting. The service was actually the highlight of the night, and earned this review one additional star simply because of the effort involved. Else it would be a 3 star review. There was only one server running the entire front of house while the restaurant got progressively busier, and only two chefs in the kitchen. Despite being swamped, the server worked her tail off. She didn't mess up a single order for our large group and kept things moving. I greatly appreciated her hard work. Appetizers (5/5): The wait for food was noticeable due to the staffing, but the appetizers were worth it. We ordered the Edamame, Yatai Gyoza, Agedashi Tofu, and Takoyaki, and all of them were delicious. Entrees (3/5): Unfortunately, the main courses were a bit basic compared to the starters. The Tonkotsu Ramen was strictly average; I've definitely had better broth and noodles elsewhere. If you are looking for the top-tier quality izakaya, Mr. Max Izakaya in Irving is hands down better option. However, you have to wait an hour for a table there.

We had scouted it out online, looking for a ramen place near where we were staying in Plano. Unassuming on the front, the inside is an amazing atmosphere with a vibe straight from a Shinjuku street stall. The wait staff was polite, and very nice. The chef was working away inside the replica street stall. The food arrived quickly, and was delicious! So much flavor! Everything new was somehow even better than the dish we tried before it. So good, so tasty! If we come back for another visit, Yatai is now on our list of restaurants to eat at again!
