My friend and I tried out their sushi and a corn dog. The sushi was okay, kind of similar quality to grocery store sushi. My friend said the corn dog was also just decent. The employees were friendly and the meal didn't take too long to come out even though the food court was pretty busy. I think I was just expecting a little more from the sushi in terms of flavor and quality so overall I was a bit disappointed. It wasn't bad by any means, just don't come in expecting restaurant quality sushi.

Mat jib is always solid for takeout sushi and I'd recommend calling it in as sometimes they can have a rather long line. We usually get the roll combos. The only thing is that I don't understand why they don't stay open till 8pm like all the other restaurants, I think they leave a lot of business in the table and it can be tough to rush there before 7:15.

Was excited to try a corn dog here! They looked delicious. My friend and I split the cheese and regular corn dog half and half. It was ~$7 with tip. The corn dog was tasty. It was sweeter than I thought it was going to be with the sugar on the outside. I waited about 15 minutes after ordering for the food to be done. I was very glad to try this corn dog!

I love a good Korean corndog: the chewy exterior, the sweet sugar coating contrasted with the savory sausage, and Mat Jib, located in the H-Mart food court, does a good job of making them. I got the potato hot dog and the regular hot dog, freshly fried to order. Both were huge and well coated with sugar. They were delicious and I enjoyed them a lot! The only thing I wish they would provide is a wider variety of sauces, as they only have ketchup and yellow mustard. Cheese sauce, honey mustard, or maybe a Korean sweet and spicy are a few options that come to mind. Though COVID has driven up the price of these hot dogs, they are still a fast, tasty, and reasonably priced H-mart food court item.

Wow!! So tasty!! I've been wanting to try these ever since they opened. I'm never really in this area, but i decided it was time to take a trip on over. I got the half cheese, half sausage corn dog. Amazing!! I love the sugary crunch on the outside, it's not overly sweet, it's just enough. I also like how they put honey mustard and ketchup top. My husband thought it was some fancy sauce and didn't believe me at first when I told him it was just ketchup. The cheese was my favorite part. I think next time I might go with the full cheese option. They make them fresh so you do have to wait 10-15 minutes for your order-- totally worth it. It's really not like anything else I've tried before--salty, sweet, savory, crunch, awesome! They didn't seem to be part of the intercom number system, so you really just have to listen out for your number to be called. Employees were friendly, everyone had their mask on, I can't wait to go again!

I made it right in time for closing time on Sunday to place my order for a Korean Corn dog. I've seen these advertised for many years now but could never find them until I came upon Mat Jib. For $5.00, it's quite a steal for the experience. Does it taste good? Yes -- it's quite delicious. Just imagine a regular corn dog but in panko breading with oozing cheese and hotdog. Will I buy it again? Yes -- it's a great snack if you need something to much on. Overall, fantastic customer service. Can't wait to try the sushi!

This review is based on only the Korean hotdogs! This vendor is located in H Mart, there's a small area by all of the restaurants to be able to sit. We went around lunchtime on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. They said it would be about 25 minutes, so we walked around while we waited. I think my expectations were....too high. I don't want to say these were bad. But they were just hotdog/cheese dipped in batter and deep fried. Because of that, there wasn't a ton of flavor. The breading was pretty thick which made the hotdogs greasy because the breading held so much oil. I ended up picking off the batter and just eating the hotdog. I'd probably go back to try something else, but wouldn't get the Korean hotdogs again.

So as a vegetarian, I was curious if this place had any veggie dogs and they do! I had their mozzarella Korean hotdog and it was pretty good. As expected, it tasted like a fried mozzarella stick but the batter they used was perfectly fried. Was a bit difficult to eat since it was just cheese, but definitely hits the spot if you want something deep fried. My friend says he really liked the original Korean hotdog and agrees with the batter. Mat Jib is located inside H-mart and I love the casual vibes it has to offer. Great to get a quick bite and then move on to shopping afterwards. Staff was also very helpful and friendly. For a hotdog the price did seem a little steep at $5, but I think it is still reasonably priced for the quality. Overall, if you are in Cary and come to H-mart, I think this is definitely something to try at least once. If they add more veggie substitute hotdogs, that would really be amazing.

How do you go to H Mart and not get one of these? With all these korean corn dog videos popping up on the youtubes, I've been dying to get my hands on one. I am so happy this shop opened up on H Mart. Believe me, they taste as amazing as they look. Fresh, made to order with your choice of cheese on the inside or potato on the outside. They also sprinkle on some sugar to balance out the saltiness which is a nice touch. Def try the potato. Now, whenever I go to H Mart, I place an order for one of these babies, go shop for a bit, pick up my dog when it's ready, and munch on it while I continue shopping. Highly recommend. Really ups the H Mart shopping experience to the next level.

This place offered a unique take on a corndog. French fries on the outside of a hot dog with a pancake like breading, sprinkled with something sweet. The mozzarella one is a cheese stick, corn dog style The ban ban is half cheese, half hot dog (cheese on top half). The original is as you'd expect. Pretty good, very filling. Would have liked a better quality dog, but it was decent. I recommend trying it out - they also serve sushi, so I'll have to try it next time as well.

It was a fun experience eating a couple corn dogs here. My partner got the mozz - and I got the hot dog. The mozz was mostly dough and it is already pretty dough forward so I don't recommend it. I do recommend the hot dog - however I found it to be a little gummy and doughy. Once trying this was probably enough for me. Was a fun experience, but left a little bit to be desired.

INTRO: Mat Jib is currently the only place in the Triangle that sells Korean hotdogs. If you're looking for an authentic Korean street food experience, then I recommend checking this place out! SNACK 1: Potato Korean Hotdog ($5.00) - I honestly thought this was a bit overpriced for the product. It's essentially a corndog with small chunks of potatoes added to the outer shell. The potato hotdog is definitely tasty, and the texture is fantastic. The sprinkle of sugar crystals on the outer shell adds a hint of sweetness that enhances the savory and sweet flavor profile. I found the breading to be a bit too doughy and dry, so I had to use a few ketchup packets to add some moisture. 6/10 VENUE: The restaurant is located inside the food court of H Mart. PARKING: The parking is the H Mart parking lot. WORTH IT? YES if you're curious about Korean hotdogs. (Overall 6/10)

There Jim Rivers has been setting up his steel hot dog stand for nearly 14 years now, and is there almost everyday beginning at 11:30 - he misses some days because he also sets up at the North Carolina State Fair each year. He steams his weiners - Red Hots (neon red Southern weiner)for $1,50, Nathans All Beef for $2.00, Jalapeno (with the pepper already in the weiner) for $2.50, and a Sausage dog, also for $2.50. His toppings(whatever you want at no additional charge) include mustard, ketchup (ugh!), chili, onions, slaw, mayo (double ugh!), cheese, sauerraut, red onion (foo foo), and relish (we get visitors from the far north). The Red Hot is your basic Southern Chili dog with a weiner of questionable parentage, chile, onions and/or slaw, on a nice, soft bun. This is a very good hot dog. The chili is not home made since the All Knowing, All Seeing Wake County government has decided that only brick and mortar restaurants can prepare such items in their duly and regularly inspected kitchens - this apparently is true even if the rating is not particularly good. Jim uses Patterson's Grand Slam All Beef Chili, which is available in 5 pound tubs or #10 cans. This is very good commercially prepared chili, right up there with Matinee brand used by Allen & Son in Chapel Hill. The Nathan's All Beef hot dog with chili, mustard, and Jim's slaw is an outstanding slaw dog - one of the best I've tried, and I've tried more than a few. The quality of the weiner reals comes thru, and is very well showcased by the soft bun, tasty chili, and not too sweet mayo based slaw. On my next visit, I'll try the Jalapeno dog and the Sausage dog instead of the All Beef - well, probably in addition too it. Jim is friendly and personable, the service is quick, the pricing reasonable - there is no seating available, but sitting in an airconditioned auto munching several dogs ain't at all bad.

A little more Hurricanes gear, which I didn't need, but what can you do. 3 dogs and a coke for $14. Prices may not be the same, but such is life. I ordered all three dogs with mustard, onions, and slaw, and one also had the chili. I have to admit a few splashes of Texas Pete hot sauce took them over the top. The dogs themselves are great quality, none of the mystery meats that some of these other Carolina dogs have. And I'm glad they didn't load the chili on. Maybe this is not legal to say in the south, but I'm just not a fan of a chili dog with so much chili that the whole thing falls apart. The toppings should complement the dog, not overwhelm it. OK, I digress... The service was tremendous. I chatted with the owners about various topics for a good half hour and they were incredibly hospitable. They even gave me a couple of Tootsie rolls. Even though I can't do chocolate, I was glad to take them as a token of hospitality.

The Roast Grill feels less like a restaurant and more like a preserved piece of mid-20th-century Americana hidden in plain sight along West Street. The narrow counter, wood-paneled walls, neon beer signs, Coca-Cola memorabilia, handwritten notices, old photographs, Hurricanes tributes, and decades of accumulated objects create an atmosphere that simply cannot be manufactured today. The place reminded me a little of Chicago's famous Billy Goat Tavern--especially the feeling of discovering something authentic tucked beneath an increasingly overbuilt urban streetscape. I ordered two hot dogs all the way with mustard, onions, chili, and slaw--absolutely NO ketchup, of course--along with a Coke in a glass bottle. The chili is legendary and reportedly takes up to three days to prepare. Whether that is folklore or fact, it certainly gives the hot dogs a flavor unlike almost anywhere else in Raleigh. One of my favorite details was the mounted goat wearing a red hat beneath the neon beer signs. It somehow fits perfectly within the visual layering and quirky personality of the interior. Even the traditions remain intact. At the end of the meal, every customer receives a Tootsie Roll. Places like the Roast Grill are becoming increasingly rare. I had lunch there on Thursday--and liked it so much that I went back again on Friday. Two days in a row. One word of caution: this is a true short-order grill. Everything is freshly made to order, and they are often very busy. You will not get your food as quickly as you would at a fast-food place like McDonald's or Wendy's. If you are in a big hurry, head west on Western Boulevard to McDonald's, Bojangles, Wendy's, or Cook Out--all places I patronize--but they are not the same type of venue. Cloos' Coney Island is a hot dog and classic American comfort food restaurant that has been operating in Raleigh since 1988, with strong ties to the NC State student community and local residents. According to their own signage and social pages, they proudly market themselves as "An Original Detroit Hot Dog Stand, Est. 1988." The restaurant is decorated like a classic diner or luncheonette. White tile gives a clean, bright feel, paired with black checkerboard accents. The décor is reminiscent of original White Castle, White Diamond, and Waffle House locations. There's even a Sopranos-themed pinball machine. Seating includes a lunch counter with round revolving stools and 1950s-style dinette tables and chairs. On Thursday, I ordered a Coney Dog and French fries. With the exception of the Chicago Dog, their hot dogs are 90 percent beef, with the remainder pork products. The Coney Dog is their specialty, served on a steamed bun with chili, mustard, and onions--try it; you'll love it. The fries are excellent--thin, string-style fries like McDonald's used to make years ago. My friend had the Chicago Dog, a Vienna all-beef frank customized with Carolina flair, adding slaw atop their Coney Dog toppings. They have a soda fountain with Coke products, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and both sweet and unsweet tea. As a fun detail, there's a Coca-Cola CLASSIC sign near the fountain--perfectly fitting for a place established in the late '80s. Because they offer both tea and lemonade, they list Arnold Palmers (sweet or unsweet) on the menu. They also offer bottled water and a selection of domestic and premium bottled beers. On Friday, I went alone, sat at the counter, and ordered the Philly Cheesesteak--listed on their menu as one of their signature items, and now I know why. I chose steak with green peppers and onions and added mushrooms for a small extra charge. I don't care for mustard (a Midwest thing) or mayonnaise (a Southern thing) on my cheesesteaks. When I worked in Philadelphia and ate at Pat's and the street carts, I always had ketchup on the bun. At Cloos', I dipped both my cheesesteak and fries into genuine Heinz ketchup from glass bottles--outstanding. I liked the fries so much the day before that I ordered another small order. Growing up in New Jersey, a root beer with a cheesesteak just felt right--even though I rarely drink soda. Some pairings are simply meant to be. The staff are great--nice, patient, and constantly engaging with customers. There's an ongoing conversation about everything, and you can tell they genuinely enjoy their work, their coworkers, and their customers. If you're expecting service with a deep Southern accent, this might not be the place--but the warmth and authenticity more than make up for it. Needless to say, I plan to go back. Two five-star experiences, back-to-back.
