    Katsu sandwich with chips
    Kevin C.

I came here in search of their delicious looking katsu sandwich featured on the Morgan Street Food Hall website, and came across two food stalls - the Katsu and the Bowls. The katsu sandwiches are actually on the Bowls side, but I think they're run by the same owner. Wanting to give this a try, I ordered a classic katsu sandwich and was impressed by the portions - an oversized chicken fillet on a large brioche bun with a generous amount of toppings and a side of fried potato chips. A bit unfortunately, my katsu was a bit tough so I'm giving this place four stars, not five. But I'll definitely be back to try one of the other specialty katsu sandwiches in the future.

I went to this place after a lot of search for "Katsu chicken" sandwich . It tasted nothing like "katsu". It was a regular fried chicken with whole lot of grated cabbage. They added Kimchi, but the flavor is barely noticeable. Not enough sauce added to give katsu flavor. There is fried egg, which is plus. Overall, it doesn't meet the Katsu flavored sandwich expectations. Could have been better to be authentic. No complaints about service. As it's in food court kind of place, ambience is cozy and good hangout place.

Today i was craving for a good sandwich, so I decided to go to Morgan Street food hall and see if I could find something and this place got my attention, when i saw the different ingredients on the sandwich i was like i need to try this and got me a Ninja chicken Katsu Sandwich, and let me tell you I wasn't disappointed, this sandwich is full of flavor, crunchy, and the combo with the cabbage and the sauce so delicious, and the home made chips they nail it pretty good, one of the best sandwiches i ever had, i definitely coming back to try something else. I didn't give them 5 star because i think is a little over price (personal opinion) but they are really good size.

A foodie recently posted about Katsu on Instagram recently. I was sold on the California chicken katsu sandwich which had avocado, pickles, tomatoes, crunchy cole slaw and some kind of delicious sauce. The guy behind the counter told me to get a lot of napkins, and he was right! The sandwich is quite large, so be prepared for a slightly messy, but delicious, meal. The homemade chips were good, too. Overall, I enjoyed my sandwich quite a bit and I'll probably try another item off their menu.

After being overwhelmed by options at the Morgan Street Food Hall, Matt and I opted to get a chicken sandwich at The Katsu--and boy were we pleasantly surprised! The sandwiches are huge, the chicken is crispy, and the sauce is delicious. We also really liked the balance of crispness and softness in the homemade potato chips (I don't like mine overcooked). I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at The Katsu, but I would grab another sandwich there if I was visiting the food hall again!

I had the California chicken sando and I thought it was great! I definitely needed more than the 2 napkins I had though. My only issue was the chips. I wish they were seasoned, that would have made them awesome!

I was exploring Morgan Street Food Hall when I came upon this place. They have katsu burgers!! Out of the 4 different katsu burgers available, I asked the owner which one her favorite was and she said The California. I was impressed! The California Katsu Burger had the sweet saucy goodness on top of the perfectly crunchy chicken - a great mix of flavors. We also ordered the Bulgogi Philly Cheesesteak (my favorite). Being a big fan on bulgogi, i loved having it in a bun with some cheesee YUM! Loved this place!

The Katsu is easily my favorite place in the Morgan St. food hall. I always finish this meal so satisfied. I decided to try the California Katsu and I was not disappointed (as usual). The California Katsu has chicken katsu, cabbage cole slaw, avocado, pickles and a delicious sweet chili sauce. I am a sucker for a good sweet chili sauce, so this was right up my alley! The sandwich itself was so delicious that I was easily able to get over how messy it was. Make sure to get a lot of napkins when you eat here because you will need them! My hands were covered in sauce and greasy goodness by the end of the meal. But I promise you, the sweet chili sauce makes it all worth it. The flavors complimented each other so well. My only complaint is the chips. They were very bland and I didn't have any sauce to dip them in. Next time I would ask for a side of sweet chili sauce to dip them in, because that seems like it would be so good. Minus the bland chips, this was my favorite meal that I've had here and I will come back! I want to try everything on their menu.

The teriyaki chicken sandwhich was really good , the bun was soft and fresh and buttery and the chicken was thick and crunchy and the sauces were mild and really good it was a great sandwhich

I think the katsu is a great addition to Morgan Street Food Hall and has a lot of potential. The took over the spot that the broth was in, guessing the broth just fused into the bowl. We got the teriyaki chicken sandwich and while the flavor was good the sandwich was cold, like not room temperature, legit cold. I wanted to return it, but my husband was too hungry to wait for another one. The sandwich itself was huge and had a hefty piece of fried chicken on there. The sauce was also tasty. I'd give them another try and just hope that everything was hot next time!

Service was quick but the food was okay. The sauce made it taste good and the sandwich was pretty filling. I was not a fan of the fries they were very bland. Wish they had put more sauce on the sandwich or offered some to add. Price was reasonable and I would try a different meal if I were to visit again. The soda was delicious very fruity but not super sweet.

Located inside the Morgan Street Foodhall I walked around for 10 minutes before I finally decided on Katsu. They had the most diverse and interesting menu of places in there and i chose a chicken sandwich with sweet chili sauce, avocado, and some sort of lettuce or something on top of it. It also came with a heaping side of fries. While the sandwich was good, the chicken wasn't particularly great and was the weakest link in the whole sandwich. The bun, sauce, avocado and grass or whatever was on top of it could have been a delicious meal in itself. The Katsu is good food and alot of it for a reasonable price but when I look back on my life a year from now and think about the best things I've eaten, it will probably miss the list.

Five stars, no hesitation…read more I heard about Sono Sushi through Resy and finally made it in. It's located in downtown Raleigh on Fayetteville Street, right next to the ABC 11 studios, easy to find and a great spot if you're already downtown. The ambiance is great and fits the food well. There's a nice mix of seating, tables along the windows looking out onto the street, high top tables, traditional dining tables, and a sushi bar if you want to sit up close and watch everything being made. It feels lively without being loud, and works well whether you're there for a date night or a more casual meal. We started with the Aburi appetizer, torched salmon belly, ooba, salmon roe, Japanese seabream, yuzu kosho, and ponzu, and it was outstanding. Everything worked together perfectly, rich, bright, and balanced. I also ordered ikura and ebi, even though I meant to order ama ebi, but no regrets there. Still excellent. We shared the Poke Roll with wakame, avocado, cucumber, mango, tuna, salmon, hamachi, and Sono poke sauce, and it was very good, fresh, flavorful, and well composed without being overdone. My wife ordered the spicy miso ramen and loved it. The broth was the star, deep and comforting, and the pork chashu pieces were massive, in a good way. I went with the chicken katsu curry, panko fried chicken thigh with house curry and koshihikari rice, something I haven't had since Little Tokyo in LA a few years ago, and it tasted like home. Comforting, familiar, and exactly what I was hoping for. For drinks, I ordered the "SONO? SO-YES!" entirely because of the name, but also because I love blood orange. Casamigos Blanco tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, coconut cream, simple syrup, and blood orange juice, it was excellent. My only complaint is that I wanted more of it. My wife got the Okinawa Spritz, a play on an Aperol spritz with passionfruit, and it was even better than the original. We finished with the yuzu cheesecake. I debated between that and the ube cheesecake, but since this is a Japanese restaurant, yuzu felt right, and it absolutely delivered. Overall, everything from the food to the drinks hit. This is a place I would happily return to, and honestly, I'm already looking forward to the next visit.
