I went to Arita recently in Holly Springs. When I arrived at Sora today, I could've sworn I was in Arita's parking lot. That's insane. Who copies a parking lot? But no, I was indeed at Sora and parked just fine on a Saturday afternoon. The woman up front let me sit where I wanted. Jenny was my server. She was welcoming, helpful and kind. There's a lot going on with their menu, but the pictures were generous. I appreciated that! With Jenny's help, I ordered the Rolls Royce and the Naruto Roll. Also, the pork bun and spicy edamame. It was too much food, btw. But the rolls were bogo, so I had to get two. Two winners, two almost losers. The Royce was flavorful while the Naruto was bland. They know this, so they give you a "Naruto Sauce," which didn't help much. Besides, the pieces were so loosely packed that their insides kept falling apart into the sauce bowl. It was a dumb scene and I'll never order it again. As far as flavor goes, the obligatory green horseradish concoction helped. A little. Pork bun was tasty, but it also fell apart, splitting at the back, exposing its rear like an outfit Prince would wear onstage. As crazy as it sounds, I'm gonna say the spicy edamame were the standout dish. But I couldn't finish the healthy portion, so I took it home. The prices are too high. I ended up paying $50 for the visit, while the rolls were bogo. Bogo deal and still $50! That's why I won't be back. Aside from the little missteps, it was still a positive outing, but the prices are a no-go. I ordered the Sushi Symphony combo, which looked absolutely stunning--clean presentation, vibrant colors, the whole Instagram-ready moment. But don't let the look deceive you. Once you get past the visuals, the execution just doesn't quite land. The biggest miss was the sushi rice. It lacked that subtle balance of vinegar and seasoning that really brings everything together, so each piece felt a bit flat. Fresh fish can only carry things so far when the foundation isn't there. Very clean and bright small restaurant very well equipped for quick order and take out. Professional and friendly staff. I came in rather than delivery to avoid sogginess. I decided to take pictures of the dishes before they bagged it up. I ordered the Tropical Tuna Tartare and the wonton soup for my scratchy throat. it came out pretty and FRESH! The staff at Sora Sushi is amazing! The restaurant is super clean and bright. The sushi roll BOGOs are delicious and an unbeatable value; try the Sponge Bob and Green Monster. The appetizers including the crispy chicken and fried calamari are absolute tops in the game. The other entrees are also very good. Sora is on our regular dinner out rotation. Overall: I only ordered ramen here but I can say it wasn't good. The ramen broth was shockingly weak, and the ingredients used in the ramen didn't taste right or fresh. Food: The ramen broth is super weak and doesn't taste remotely near what you order. The tonkatsu broth tasted like a light sodium chicken broth that was watered down. The other ingredients in the bowl didn't help either, pretty much everything inside was sub-par if not a complete miss. Service: The service is normal for a sit down place. Average wait time for food and a waiter that comes by to check up on you every once in awhile. Ambiance: The interior is nice and has plenty of seating. read more

Their soft opening was today, and we were excited to try it for dinner. They have a great location near the Apex Wal-Mart, and there is plenty of parking. The restaurant is small, clean, and bright, and they have a sushi bar, in addition to the tables and booths. It looks like outdoor seating is coming soon. Almost half of their extensive menu is sushi (they offer a BOGO), but we went for the seafood ramen and the spicy garlic chicken. My ramen was loaded with seafood, including scallops and shrimp tempura. The broth was unusual (to me), and seemed heavy on the soy sauce. It worked with the ramen, though, and I very much enjoyed it. My friend loved his spicy garlic chicken, from the Chinese section of the menu, and he said it had a nice kick to it. Kevin, our server, did a fantastic job! Our water glasses were never empty, and he checked on us frequently, too. He told us they had been very busy on their first day. The restaurant is really nice and clean, with a chic feel to it. We were greeted and seated pretty quickly. Our waitress was quick & kind as she did have a few other tables. The wontons came out first and were so good. You could tell they were made right there and weren't bought frozen, so I'd recommend them, 8/10. The Ramen was just okay (maybe a 6/10). It wasn't what I was hoping for..it really needed that deep, authentic broth flavor. The sushi was tasted fresh &, and the best part is they have buy one, get one free, which I always love at a sushi spot. The pieces held together perfectly. There's very few sushi restaurants that stay open that doesn't close mid-day (11-9:30pm weekdays/10:30pm) on weekends) so extra points that that. read more

Apex has a gem! I was able to try Sora ahead of their grand opening and I was blown away! I'm not a sushi person but I can't deny good food. I was able to try their dynamite roll, chicken curry ramen, Mongolian beef, edamame, and Thai tea. Everything was amazing and not too spicy, even when indicated. The staff was super friendly and it's a really nice space. Theg serve sushi, ramen, traditional Chinese dishes, and pastas (lo mein). They have bogo sushi everyday and everything is made fresh in house: the sushi, the broth, and the sauces. And they have a drive thru for pick up orders! Plenty of parking in the new shopping area. read more

Well, we did not try the ramen noodles like the ramen haters below, but the sushi was amazing. I hope Sora takes note on the their ramen because we love the place. I do try let folks know what to expect from a food, price, ambiance and service perspective. Ambiance; Sora is a place to go if you want a nice low key experience to take the kids to have some really good sushi. It was clean, bright, and welcoming to both families and couples. Service; the service was spot on, not overwhelming, but attentive. The place is small enough you feel like you are getting personal attention. Food; Sora has a really good selection of creative sushi rolls. My wife went for the Mango Tuna Tango and Crazy Salmon Sushi rolls. Wow, what a great choice on each. My rarely fight over food, but we almost had to arm wrestle for the last piece of each roll. I really appreciated the conservative use of rice, it was a perfect amount. Most Sushi places in the area, Cary, Apex and Durham, like to load up on the rice (excluding our normal go to, "Gas Station Sushi"...which is not it's real a me, but if you have been you will know what I'm talking about). Price; I have to say the prices are reasonable for the quality of sushi and the fact Sora does the classic buy 1, get 1 free...we walked away very satisfied by the price to service to food quality ratio. In summary, we will be back to explore the menu and try more of their creative sushi selections... and maybe try the one of their ramen's if are feeling adventurous. :) read more

I took a bite of their spicy tuna roll and realized it's Salmon not Tuna. I asked the server and she insisted that it is Tuna. I took another bite and was not convinced. Very clean, excellent and friendly service... love that they have BOGO sushi with some very unique rolls I haven't found elsewhere. Clean and uncluttered atmosphere with ample seating inside and out. I do agree with some of the other reviews that their ramen broth could use a little more "umph" (just based on 2 other ramen places I've tried in the area) but I do like their curry ramen. Without question the worst ramen I've ever had in my life. The ramen broth came in a half quart barely half full. A side sauce of broth essentially. It tasted 100% like straight up boiled water. There was literally NO flavor in it to the point it was almost impressive. The canned corn by far had the most flavor which is wildddd. There are SO many better options in the area. I don't typically write reviews, especially negative ones, but my first visit to Sora Sushi left me with no choice. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen expecting a fresh, hot meal, but what arrived was a lukewarm soup lacking in fresh ingredients. I politely made a comment about the temperature of the soup and they kindly offered to replace the dish. I was halfway through the second attempt when I looked down and noticed a small piece (approximately 1 inch long) of shaved metal! I immediately stopped eating and flagged down the server. To their credit, they were apologetic and removed the item from the bill, but the damage was done. It's not just vapid, it is a major safety hazard. Overall, the staff remained courteous throughout. While I understand mistakes happen in the kitchen, two serious issues in one meal is unacceptable. We will not be returning and, unfortunately, cannot recommend it to friends or family based on this experience. read more

Loved our visit to Sora Sushi Ramen! We ordered appetizers, sushi, and mochi for dessert. Everything was delicious! As a native SoCal girl, I've been searching for good sushi in NC. I have to say the rolls were the same quality as other sushi places around the Triangle area, but their salmon nigiri was some of the best I've ever had! The staff was incredibly friendly and polite and our service was wonderful, especially given that fact that they had just opened. Loved the vibe of the restaurant too! Went for sushi and ramen tonight and I was pleasantly surprised. Ramen not as excellent as Noodle Blvd but really solid! Tonkatsu ramen broth had a nice deep flavor, and not salty (which is a complaint I often have about ramen in the area). Wish it had been a little warmer in temperature but other wise really enjoyed it. Perfect chashu pork, perfectly cooked egg. We ordered 4 sushi rolls: Rolls Royce, crazy salmon, panther, scorpion. Rolls Royce was my favorite! Popcorn chicken and bang bang shrimp appys also very tasty. Will definitely go back when craving ramen. Glad this is an option in Apex! read more

Tried Sora with the family this evening- believe they just opened last week. Good: The decor is nice- everything looked new, staff seemed friendly. Not so good: Ordered their spicy mala ramen (2 orders- for my son and I), spicy tuna rolls, chicken fried rice, and miso soup. The sichuan peppercorn in the ramen was too overpowering/ son and I didn't finish our ramen, very disappointing. Told the waiter, he said he would let the chef know in the future. However, there was no discount or offer to make a new one. The spicy tuna rolls, miso soup and fried rice were ok. Know they've been open a week but don't think I will be visiting again. read more
