Went on a busy Friday night but were seated quickly. We started off with crab Rangoon which was really good (mostly cream cheese which is my preference). We then had the Tom Kha, Mongolian beef, and chicken hibachi meals. The portions are very generous so for many plate options it would be enough for 2 people. This was my first time at Sushi Iwa, and it was a great experience. The restaurant was clean and spacious. Their menu is a binder that has pictures of each dish, which is extremely helpful. Good morning! I am new to the Area and my girlfriend wanted to meet for lunch here yesterday. The name implied it was just a sushi bar and so I was trying to work out what I would eat because I'm not a huge sushi fan. But they had everything in anything you could imagine. They had Thai food, Chinese food, Japanese food, appetizers, the lunch portions were gigantic! And I got the Penang curry with shrimp, and it was absolutely fabulous. My friend got the Mongolian beef, which I made her give me a taste and it was also fantastic. The side salad was fresh and crisp and their sesame ginger dressing which is made in house was so good that we actually bought some to take home. I will be back and I will bring my husband. We live 45 minutes away. But I it is one of those restaurants that is totally worth the drive! Very happy to have found an excellent Asian restaurant. read more

Our small plates and dishes for soy sauce were not clean and it bothered me that the person putting this on the table didn't notice. We also ordered the drunken noodles with tofu and egg with a side salad, pretty in pink sushi and the super veggies sushi. The pretty pink was too good. It had crunchy nuts and sweet potato inside. The super veggies one was a bit spicy for me because of the jalapeño, but it was delicious regardless. The drunken noodles were my second favorite. Them came loaded with tofu and eggs which was a plus. The salad with the house ginger dressing offered a perfect balance with the other dishes. We went there on a Saturday evening, and the place was PACKED! It was very hard to walk in to put our names down, but the staff remained calm, respectful and friendly... I don't know how they do it! Let's start with the good. The ambience is exactly what you would expect from a sushi restaurant. It feels clean and the waitress checks on you every 30 seconds. Now for the other stuff. The menu is roughly the size of a 1980s encyclopedia Britannica collection. This isn't necessarily bad because they have sushi roll laid out in excruciating detail. If you haven't been to the gym this day, you can consider lifting the menu a bicep workout. I had to give it four stars mainly because the price which I think is a tad steep. This isn't a place I could go regularly because it is just too much. Outside of that it is a good place to eat. We've been going here for about 6 years now, but we mostly do carry out and we always order sushi... we keep saying we're going to try something new but we haven't yet. My favorite roll is the White River and my husband's favorite is Cherish You. We also always get the miso and edamame. Nice sized portions. The only thing that bugs me is they don't seem to read the notes when we place the order, for example we will ask for 6 packs of low sodium soy and will get 2 packs of regular... ??? Really good sushi for a great price. The quality of the sushi, and the amount that you get for their bogo deal is unmatched. They also have a great selection of foods other than sushi (thai, soups, etc...). But their sushi is my favorite for both the quality, and the ability to eat until full without breaking the bank. Food was very good, interior was fine. What I didnt like was their charging 75 cents for a small container of salad dressing which was not disclosed to us and I find it outrageously expensive! I've never know restaurants to practice this tactic and it definitely reflects badly on their reataurant. In addition an 18% gratuity was added to a party of 6, also an uncommon practice for a small party. To make matters worse, the receipt said, "gratuity not included " yet clearly it was. Terrible practice to squeeze money from consumers in a sneaky way. Bring your own salad dressing!, but then they will probably add a surcharge for a straw! read more

I was in town visiting family, and they took me here. I'm so glad they did. I didn't have many expectations as it was a sushi place in the middle of a suburban shopping center, but it was really fantastic. It's pricey, but you get a lot of food with your order, and they have BOGO sushi deals. The menu is really extensive, and the rolls have creative names. They can do some customization for you if there's a roll you're interested in but don't want one of the ingredients. Aside from the sushi, the teriyaki is flavorful and the noodles are great. Our edamame was unevenly seasoned, but I still enjoyed it. I ended up ordering the rock n roll and veggie tempura rolls and a side of lo mein noodles. It all hit the spot. Service was really prompt and they made sure we always had enough water. Next time I'm in town I'll make sure my family takes me here again! read more

I had heard good things about Sushi Iwa and decided to finally give it a go. I went with their BOGO sushi and ordered the hot mama and rainbow roll. Both rolls were 20.95 each. I also got some crab rangoon as an appetizer. The crab rangoons were yummy and hard to mess up. In my opinion, the sushi was not as good as what people told me. The rice was cold instead of room temp. The rolls weren't cut evenly as some were huge and hard to eat in one bite (which is the only way to eat sushi. If you cut your roll in half, you're doing it wrong. And lastly, the rolls were sort of falling apart. I wasn't impressed. I'm hoping their other dishes are better than their sushi. If I come back I would try those but definitely not for the sushi. I do appreciate that they have pictures for everything on the menu. The service was good and there's plenty of parking since it's in a shopping center. There's a few spots in front of the restaurant but you'll have better luck with the parking lot in the back. read more

I'm a little sad but I feel a lot has gone downhill since my last visit several years ago. The prices have sky rocketed for one and is super expensive. It seemed like the manager brought our cocktail out but didn't seem that friendly. We ordered hot green tea and the tea packet they used wasn't that great and the pot didn't retain heat at all. The pot was cold by the time the tea steeped and they used to use large pots but now they are small. I ordered chicken and veggies pad Thai, several sushi rolls and some fried rice. The fried rice tastes like a frozen bag of fried rice, the chicken in the pad Thai was inedible. It was rubbery and chewy. The noodles itself were okay but the choice of veggies were off. My partner didn't enjoy the sushi either as it was all really warm and didn't feel as fresh. The lemon sushi roll had a slice of a whole lemon rind under the fish, which was unappealing. The place didn't feel too clean either and the cleaning of tables looked and felt rushed, missing cleanly it properly. Our server we had though was very nice. My family and I have been here many times, mostly for eat in, but did take out this week. My daughter and I love the sushi, always fresh and a huge selection. My grandson loves the sesame chicken or the lo mien dish with beef. We have had the edamame as well and it is a good sized portion. They do have many other dishes besides sushi, so there is something for everyone, but most people go there for the sushi. They are always busy, but you have a better chance of getting in on a week night. I have never been for lunch. They give you a list of the sushi and a pencil and you check off the ones you want. The menu has pictures and descriptions of the sushi that helps a lot. Service is usually good, but its sometimes hard to get a drink refill or the waiter's attention if you need something. Our #2 place for sushi, and we eat it a lot...it is my daughter's favorite food. We will be back! read more

I am not sure as to why I have never completed a review of this place. We have been eating here for years and always enjoyed their sushi. I have never ate in - I have always ordered online while someone else would deliver it to me - so yesterday was my first time actually going into the location. If you are not familiar with this restaurant, they have over 80 sushi rolls to choose from on their menu. The rolls are buy one and get one free. I can't speak for the entrees - as I have never had one, but they look pretty good from the other reviews. Honestly, the sushi menu can be very overwhelming at first because of all the choices! You have rolls with cream cheese, fried, baked, with bananas, dried fruit, mango, and EVEN BACON. The combinations of flavors and toppings can be enhanced with any additional adds on you like (additional charge of course). They are a little more pricier than some other places, but we believe for what you get, it's worth the money. This time we ordered the following: Malaysia Spring Rolls: Crispy spring rolls filled with minced beef, Enoki mushroom, garlic, purple onions and yellow curry. Two pieces. Vegetable Spring Rolls: Crispy spring rolls filled with cabbage, shiitake mushroom, rice noodles, onion and carrot. Two pieces. Sweet Potato Tempura Roll with Cream Cheese Spicy Tuna Roll with Cream Cheese Mango Tango: Soy paper wrapped around rice, mango, avocado and dried plum, topped with mango sauce and pomegranate sauce. Las Vegas Roll: Grilled eel, crab stick, cream cheese and avocado, crispy Tempura style and topped with Eel Sauce. Fireman: Seared albacore and Tempura flakes, topped with avocado, orange carviar, red roe, wasabi roe and spicy mayonnaise. Bagel Rolls (2 of them): Salmon, cream cheese and avocado, crispy Tempura style and topped with Eel Sauce. We also made sure to include a note with the Payday Roll stating: **FOOD ALLERGY** PLEASE BAG THE PAYDAY ROLL IN A SEPARATE CONTAINER ***************** Our bill totaled about $80.00 with tax. Keep this in mind, as it is very important - I am allergy to shellfish and the Payday roll has shrimp in it and ON TOP. We set the order to be picked up by 7:30 the same day. Once we arrived at the location, it was PACKED! I mean PEOPLE everywhere. It was somewhat of an uncomfortable feeling - I know the bans have been lifted to some degree, but yeah - that was a little tooo much for me. I walked into the building and notice it is jammed packed with people and FOOD. I mean there are to go overs EVERYWHERE, people at tables eating, people standing awaiting their food, phones ringing - total nightmare. However, the lady greeted me and asked what my name was. She looked for the order and brought it over to confirm it was mine and that everything was as requested. When we got to the PAYDAY being bagged separate, she paused and said I don't think so. We look over the online order and it's clearly there in bold. You can tell she was a little panicky at this point, so am I. None the less, she took the order to the side and inspected it. Everything was in deed there and in fact they did put it in a separate container AND BAG! Great stuff! With that, I grabbed the food and rolled out. Our favorites out of this were: Fireman Roll Payday Roll Las Vegas Roll The Bagel Roll Malaysia Spring Rolls with Sweet Chili Sauce The other rolls were good, but they just didn't make us want to go back for more. The Spicy Tuna and Sweet Potato Rolls with Cream Cheese were simple rolls - nothing to them. The Mango Tango, was sweet and fresh but I would want that as like a "dessert" and with that I wouldn't want it while eating my regular savory sushi (personal preference). The Vegetable rolls was a little greasy for our taste buds and well it didn't have a lot of flavor. It could it have been that it wasn't fresh out the fryer and had sat for a little but overall it just wasn't something we wanted to have again. Honestly, its been over a year since I've been here cuz felt the quality was headed downhill. Today I wanted to have some sushi at an odd time 3:30pm and this was the only place that I could find that was open. Even found out that they served lunch menu till 4pm! Ordered bogo rolls (sexy girls) and jalapeño chicken, and it was soooo good!!! Both the sushi rolls and chicken dish were tasty!
