My friend and I tried out their sushi and a corn dog. The sushi was okay, kind of similar quality to grocery store sushi. My friend said the corn dog was also just decent. The employees were friendly and the meal didn't take too long to come out even though the food court was pretty busy. I think I was just expecting a little more from the sushi in terms of flavor and quality so overall I was a bit disappointed. It wasn't bad by any means, just don't come in expecting restaurant quality sushi.
Mat jib is always solid for takeout sushi and I'd recommend calling it in as sometimes they can have a rather long line. We usually get the roll combos. The only thing is that I don't understand why they don't stay open till 8pm like all the other restaurants, I think they leave a lot of business in the table and it can be tough to rush there before 7:15.
Was excited to try a corn dog here! They looked delicious. My friend and I split the cheese and regular corn dog half and half. It was ~$7 with tip. The corn dog was tasty. It was sweeter than I thought it was going to be with the sugar on the outside. I waited about 15 minutes after ordering for the food to be done. I was very glad to try this corn dog!
I love a good Korean corndog: the chewy exterior, the sweet sugar coating contrasted with the savory sausage, and Mat Jib, located in the H-Mart food court, does a good job of making them. I got the potato hot dog and the regular hot dog, freshly fried to order. Both were huge and well coated with sugar. They were delicious and I enjoyed them a lot! The only thing I wish they would provide is a wider variety of sauces, as they only have ketchup and yellow mustard. Cheese sauce, honey mustard, or maybe a Korean sweet and spicy are a few options that come to mind. Though COVID has driven up the price of these hot dogs, they are still a fast, tasty, and reasonably priced H-mart food court item.
Wow!! So tasty!! I've been wanting to try these ever since they opened. I'm never really in this area, but i decided it was time to take a trip on over. I got the half cheese, half sausage corn dog. Amazing!! I love the sugary crunch on the outside, it's not overly sweet, it's just enough. I also like how they put honey mustard and ketchup top. My husband thought it was some fancy sauce and didn't believe me at first when I told him it was just ketchup. The cheese was my favorite part. I think next time I might go with the full cheese option. They make them fresh so you do have to wait 10-15 minutes for your order-- totally worth it. It's really not like anything else I've tried before--salty, sweet, savory, crunch, awesome! They didn't seem to be part of the intercom number system, so you really just have to listen out for your number to be called. Employees were friendly, everyone had their mask on, I can't wait to go again!
I made it right in time for closing time on Sunday to place my order for a Korean Corn dog. I've seen these advertised for many years now but could never find them until I came upon Mat Jib. For $5.00, it's quite a steal for the experience. Does it taste good? Yes -- it's quite delicious. Just imagine a regular corn dog but in panko breading with oozing cheese and hotdog. Will I buy it again? Yes -- it's a great snack if you need something to much on. Overall, fantastic customer service. Can't wait to try the sushi!
This review is based on only the Korean hotdogs! This vendor is located in H Mart, there's a small area by all of the restaurants to be able to sit. We went around lunchtime on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. They said it would be about 25 minutes, so we walked around while we waited. I think my expectations were....too high. I don't want to say these were bad. But they were just hotdog/cheese dipped in batter and deep fried. Because of that, there wasn't a ton of flavor. The breading was pretty thick which made the hotdogs greasy because the breading held so much oil. I ended up picking off the batter and just eating the hotdog. I'd probably go back to try something else, but wouldn't get the Korean hotdogs again.
So as a vegetarian, I was curious if this place had any veggie dogs and they do! I had their mozzarella Korean hotdog and it was pretty good. As expected, it tasted like a fried mozzarella stick but the batter they used was perfectly fried. Was a bit difficult to eat since it was just cheese, but definitely hits the spot if you want something deep fried. My friend says he really liked the original Korean hotdog and agrees with the batter. Mat Jib is located inside H-mart and I love the casual vibes it has to offer. Great to get a quick bite and then move on to shopping afterwards. Staff was also very helpful and friendly. For a hotdog the price did seem a little steep at $5, but I think it is still reasonably priced for the quality. Overall, if you are in Cary and come to H-mart, I think this is definitely something to try at least once. If they add more veggie substitute hotdogs, that would really be amazing.
How do you go to H Mart and not get one of these? With all these korean corn dog videos popping up on the youtubes, I've been dying to get my hands on one. I am so happy this shop opened up on H Mart. Believe me, they taste as amazing as they look. Fresh, made to order with your choice of cheese on the inside or potato on the outside. They also sprinkle on some sugar to balance out the saltiness which is a nice touch. Def try the potato. Now, whenever I go to H Mart, I place an order for one of these babies, go shop for a bit, pick up my dog when it's ready, and munch on it while I continue shopping. Highly recommend. Really ups the H Mart shopping experience to the next level.
This place offered a unique take on a corndog. French fries on the outside of a hot dog with a pancake like breading, sprinkled with something sweet. The mozzarella one is a cheese stick, corn dog style The ban ban is half cheese, half hot dog (cheese on top half). The original is as you'd expect. Pretty good, very filling. Would have liked a better quality dog, but it was decent. I recommend trying it out - they also serve sushi, so I'll have to try it next time as well.
It was a fun experience eating a couple corn dogs here. My partner got the mozz - and I got the hot dog. The mozz was mostly dough and it is already pretty dough forward so I don't recommend it. I do recommend the hot dog - however I found it to be a little gummy and doughy. Once trying this was probably enough for me. Was a fun experience, but left a little bit to be desired.
INTRO: Mat Jib is currently the only place in the Triangle that sells Korean hotdogs. If you're looking for an authentic Korean street food experience, then I recommend checking this place out! SNACK 1: Potato Korean Hotdog ($5.00) - I honestly thought this was a bit overpriced for the product. It's essentially a corndog with small chunks of potatoes added to the outer shell. The potato hotdog is definitely tasty, and the texture is fantastic. The sprinkle of sugar crystals on the outer shell adds a hint of sweetness that enhances the savory and sweet flavor profile. I found the breading to be a bit too doughy and dry, so I had to use a few ketchup packets to add some moisture. 6/10 VENUE: The restaurant is located inside the food court of H Mart. PARKING: The parking is the H Mart parking lot. WORTH IT? YES if you're curious about Korean hotdogs. (Overall 6/10)
Mat Jib is one of the "mid" choices in H-Mart Cary's "food court" and I'd probably rank it 2nd, which isn't saying much because the only excellent concession here is the #1 ranked Love Bao (Taiwanese food), which I previously reviewed. We tried both sushi rolls and corn dogs in our 3 experiences as a customer at Mat Jib before: 2 for corndogs, 1 for sushi. The sushis are nothing special here; a bit overpriced for their mediocre quality. However, we'd return to Mat Jib for its Korean corndogs. There are 4 kinds of corndogs you can choose from: 1. Potato + Hotdog (no cheese) - $8 2. Half Half (Half mozarella/ half hotdog - $7 3. Only Mozarella - $7 4. Only Hotdog - $6 As you can see, no matter what we choose, there seems to be something lacking depending on your choice. What if I want a full hotdog with cheese with my corndog? "Oh sorry, you can't have that!" What if I also want cheese if I choose the potato + hotdog option? "Oh sorry, that's not one of the choices either!" If you're going to sell a corndog for $7+, why not fill it up more? In our latest visit, we got 1 Half Half corndog to share. I was standing in front of the Mat Jib concession, waiting behind what I thought was a short line. But it turned out that those people were just waiting for their order and the employee standing in front just looked at me without saying a word. I went closer to the cashier, and ordered that Half Half corndog. She asked if I wanted ketchup and mustard placed on top of the corndog or on the side. I said on top. The service in Mat Jib was kind of slow. There were only about 2 to 3 customers waiting before me, and it took about 15 minutes for our corndog to be ready. We got the spicy popcorn chicken from Love Bao 5 minutes earlier than 1 corndog. Ridiculous! Mat Jib shares dining spaces with other food concessions here in H-Mart, so there's nothing special about its ambiance. It can get super crowded here on weekends, so it might be better to just take out a corndog or 2 than wait for vacancy. We didn't have issues finding a couple of seats on a Wednesday evening, however. We enjoyed the mozarella cheesiness of the corndog and how the breading is tasty with the mustard & ketchup. One thing that annoyed us was how the hotdog inside was little since it's half; it was more like a Vienna sausage. Nonetheless, it was the most delicious corndog we've devoured together, a more satisfying choice than Mat Jib's sushi rolls and most of what you can get from other food concessions in H-Mart - Cary. | Overall Score: 3.3/5 read more

If you never knew of this place, you will now. This is a hidden gem within H-Mart. As you walk in, head to the food court area and they are right there. A small (maybe 200 sq ft) space with a kitchen and a counter where you can place your order and take the meal to go (or sit in the general dining area). Besides the Sushi they have (which is pretty good for a food court), they have these 'special' items which are on a stick... Cheese, half cheese / half sausage, sweet potato, and one more that i am forgetting. These are HEAVILY fried through, but they are pretty good (as I'm told by my kids who devoured them). For me, I ordered a few different rolls which, was surprisingly, really good! The choices are limited, however the fish is fresh and they do have someone who makes the sushi and a separate person who is the cashier (no cross contamination). read more
This review is only based on the hotdogs. We got the half and half and the potato hotdog. I'll give it to them that the potato one tasted nice and crispy (the potato part) - like a nicely fried French fry. However, even though we were starving, these hotdogs were too much. It was too much batter to actual hotdog and cheese ratio. It just became heavy and oily as we kept eating, honestly couldn't even finish it. The cheese pull is nice! I also appreciate that the mozzarella and the whole hotdog in general was not too salty. But that's about all the positive points. The hotdog itself is a sad excuse for a hotdog. It was too soft - a good hotdog needs to have some bite or snap to it and this did not. read more
Atmosphere: Mat Jib is one of the stands in the Hmart food court. In front of the stand, there is an enticing display of the different Korean hotdogs that they sell! Service: Our order was taken quickly, and it took around 10 minutes for our hotdog to be made. Food: We ordered the Ban Ban Dog, which was half mozzarella cheese and half sausage. We didn't really like that the components of the hotdog were completely separated -- the mozzarella was in the top half of the hotdog, while the sausage was in the bottom half. This made it difficult to enjoy the flavors of the cheese and sausage together. We have had Korean hotdogs at other restaurants that had both cheese and sausage throughout the entire hotdog, which we preferred since this allowed us to get a bit of everything in each bite. Overall: Mat Jib is a good addition to the Hmart food court, but we felt that we've had better Korean hotdogs before. We would return if we are specifically craving Korean hotdogs, but not with extremely high expectations. read more
We were in H Mart and decided to give these a try. Everyone seems to rave about these Korean hot dogs and the line was really long, but we decided to try anyway. Every single one is freshly cooked to order. Ours came out fresh and hot, and I was really expecting to like them....../but not for me. My taste buds simply could not wrap around a sweet hot dog. My rating is because of how well they did with cooking and how many people seem to enjoy. I'm not going to give a poor rating because it is not for me. So anyway, enjoy the experience and let me know your thoughts! read more

My boyfriend and I made the trek over to H Mart to check out the market and also grab some lunch. We'd heard about these corn dogs and wanted to try them. For the price, I was pretty underwhelmed with the service as well as the corn dogs. Service: The guy taking orders didn't seem happy to be there, but whatever. More concerning- behind the counter there was a girl working in flip flops, who then ended up eating something in clear view with another coworker. Just seemed unsanitary (especially considering they serve raw fish... sushi) and unprofessional. She ended up serving us our food too. As for the food: The hot dogs are $3-$5 depending on which one you get. We got the potato crusted one and the ban ban (half sausage, half cheese). They're described as being topped with honey mustard and having a sausage inside. It ended up being regular yellow mustard (that's fine, but why'd they advertise honey mustard, which would have been better...) and not a sausage -- it was a kinda cheap tasting hot dog. I wasn't expecting a gourmet meal but I feel like the menu descriptions were pretty misleading. The corn dogs took around 10 minutes or so to come out. They were fresh so that was nice. The dough was pretty chewy, so it was hard to eat without ketchup or mustard. The hot dog part didn't have much flavor. I liked the potato coating texture - it was like French fries - though it didn't have any seasoning or much flavor. All in all, I don't think I'll go back to this place but I'll definitely be back to H Mart. read more
I didn't expect to find Korean-style corn dogs in the Triangle, so I'm beyond happy that there is Mat-Jib! The only other Korean corn dog place I've been to is Chung Chun Rice Dog in Seattle Chinatown, and although Mat-Jib doesn't have as much of a variety, its quality is definitely comparable. If it's your first time trying a Korean dog, try the ban ban dog to see what you prefer--the top half is filled with warm melted mozzarella cheese, and the bottom half is the classic sausage. If you are a cheese fanatic, I would highly recommend the mozzarella cheese dog--it's just full on cheese goodness with the crunchy lightly sugar coated exterior and all of the satisfactory gooey cheese pulls. read more

I saw this place on my trip to hmart and was intrigued! Had to try one of each loaded corn dog. Now here's the thing. The bread is sugary, kind of like a beignet. It goes great with the hot dog. Also ordered the California roll and lover roll. So they have amazing sushi. read more
Ok so I guess the new wave are these Korean hotdogs but in my mind they're corndogs. I don't eat pork or beef so I opted for sushi. Let's say the sushi did not disappoint! Huge portions and I had to force myself to finish my roll. My son wanted the original Korean hotdog and it was quite a big serving for the price! Prices are very reasonable! Sushi prices are average but as stated you get huge rolls so you won't feel like you were cheated. This place is located inside of HMart food court and was pretty popular so prepare to have a small wait. I ordered one sushi roll and an original corn dog and it was about 15-20 min but it didn't bother us because we walked around the market until our number was called. If in the area again I will definitely swing by for sushi. read more
Hot diggity dog! Korean style corn dogs have finally come to the triangle! This new stall is located right in the food court of H-Mart right after you enter. They serve sushi as well but we only tried their corn dogs. After binge watching so many kdramas featuring these delightful treats, I've wondered if I'd ever get an opportunity to try them. Finally, my dream has come true without having to fly to South Korea. These are not your typical state fair corn dogs, no sir. These babies will whisk you away on a fluffy cloud to sweet, sweet paradise, yes sir. If anything you could probably even call them dessert dogs. Anyone who's got a sweet tooth will fall in love with them, especially kids. The flavors we chose for our corn dogs were the original for 3 bucks and potato for 5 bucks. Both had a crispy outer coating finished off with sugar, ketchup, and a sweet tangy mustard. The potato corn dog, as the name implies, had diced potatoes coating all over the outside. Both were a good hefty size about 6 inches in length. Probably one or two would be able to fill a person up depending on how hungry they were. Taste-wise, they were pretty darn good. The batter was airy and fluffy. As mentioned earlier, with all the sweetness from the sugar and sauces going on throughout the dogs, it felt like eating a dessert. But all of that sweetness melded nicely with the saltiness of the inner hot dog. Overall, a very good snack or meal if you're in for something sweet and unique. We'll be back again to try the other two flavors we didn't get. I imagine they'll be just as good. So come on over if you wanna see what authentic Korean corn dogs taste like! read more

Who doesn't like hotdogs and sushi?! This is our 2nd time back and my wife and kids love this place. The customer service is on point. We shared stories about experiences and I really felt at home while waiting for my food. It's better than your ordinary corn dog. The breading is thicker, crispier and sweeter. On the inside is salty and gooey cheese married to a savory hotdog. This creates a balance of flavor and fun textures. The potato crusted one adds French fries to the mix. A 5 dog combo is less than $20. There is nothing negative to say! This is a steal especially for a growing family and in Cary! I didn't even mention the sushi, but you get the point. Everything on the menu is amazing! Just give Mat-Jib a try! read more

If you want delicious sushi without creating a hole in your pocket, then look no further, Mat Jib is here!! This is definitely a hidden gem inside the H-mart un Cary. Don't let that fool you because the sushi you get here is mind blowingly amazing. They have multiple rolls and each one is just as good as it gets. I've had their Tiger roll and Avocado roll twice in a week now and I could go for more. It's that good. The rolls have the right balance of all the flavors and is made to perfection. If you're inside H-mart, I would definitely recommend trying this place. It's worth every penny. read more

Located inside of the H Mart. This is a very interesting grocery store to explore. They have they best fruit and produce. The Mat Jib is one of several vendors in the food court. They have a display showing the options, you place the order and wait for your number to be called. We did the original and the potato corndog. The breading reminds me of doughnut or funnel cake, especially the original which is sugar coated. The potato one is like fried mashed potatoes. Can get the ketchup and mustard on the side or dressed on top. It is better with those toppings but we selected to have on the side and could have used another pack each. Very interesting to try. Worth going once to experience but not something we would want more than once. read more

This place is SOOOOOO GOOODDDDD! You have to try it. Especially if you're a cheese lover. The hot dogs are chicken, which is great because I don't eat pork. They come with sugar on it, I might ask to get less sugar next time because I didn't need it to be so crunchy and the outside could've been softer but to each it's own. The staff is friendly and it only took like 10-15 minutes to get all 3. I think there's also a deal where you can get 5 for 16. Absolutely delicious and I never knew cheese corndogs were a thing so I thoroughly enjoyed it. You can also get ketchup and mustard on the side or on it- I chose to get it on the side so I could dip it in as I please. read more

We were on the hunt for Korean hot dogs and found this cool restaurant inside the H Mart Asian Market. Turns out they have more than cheesy goodness in a corn dog. They also have really good sushi. Everything is freshly made so there is a bit of a wait. It was ALL worth the wait! The cheese pull from the hotdog is out of this world! read more
