I donated a lot this summer and I'm starting fresh again. I tried on a few outfits, but didn't really love anything. Cashmere sweaters were not very soft. The price was decent, but I would want a softer touch for the price they were asking. Just wasn't a hit for me this time.

The online sizing chart was a little confusing, but she still helped me understand the measurements and choose the right size with confidence. She even went beyond that by looking into tailoring options for me. After I left Macy's, I had some disappointing experiences at nearby stores. I ended up returning because Alex had provided such a personalized and helpful experience. Even when I came back a week later to try on the suit I ordered and get her opinion, she followed up with the same care and helped me look up another tailor for alterations before my event. Alex is exactly the kind of associate who makes shopping in person worthwhile. Her patience, initiative, authenticity, and attention to detail are things you simply cannot always get from online shopping or AI. I truly appreciate her going above and beyond, and I want to thank her for showing up as her authentic self and making sure I felt taken care of throughout the entire process.

Not sure it is a factor of getting older and wiser, but being the first the purchase a holiday trinket or buying something only because it is 75% off is no longer a draw for me. During normal times, to find Macy's representatives is difficult. However, during the holiday season it feels like there is 2-3 representatives on the entire floor. I found a very nice shirt in their clearance rack. We do keep an eye out for their sales events. We have found that service is excellent in all of the departments. I do like that they have comfy chairs available, so I could chill and catch up on all the NFL Draft news while my better half continued shopping. They are dog-friendly, and most folks keep their pooches on a short leash.

A few newer shops I hadn't seen since my last visit and a few others that have since closed, but the old loves remained including the amazing Restoration Hardware here that is FOUR stories and loaded with every pretty thing you could ever want. Also some higher end jewelry stores like Gucci and David Yurman here. This is a huge complex with several parking decks and areas and it was extremely crowded by around noon-1pm on a Sunday. Great place to have lunch and shop - that RH is the thing of dreams!

One of my Finance groups hosts a monthly Finance meeting at The Domain. Shopping...some of my favorite fun stores are at the Domain such as J. Crew and Anthropologie. I love these two stores because they have unique goods at great prices, in general, and specifically, have amazing sales. If you are a big baller, you can shop at stores like Neiman Marcus, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Tiffany's and whole host of other high stores. I'm a tiny baller. Smile. Dining - At the Domain you can get reasonably priced foods to high end fare. Some of my favorite places to dine in the Domain include Glorias, Flower Child, Paul Martin's and Haywire. Important to note, most restaurants have great happy hours and associated amazing prices. Nightlife - Some say that The Domain (especially on Rock Rose Avenue) is the new 6th Street (known for its bars and Live music). I would not venture out that far. However, if you want to party in the wee hours of the night, you can do it at The Domain. Fun Experiences - You can transport yourself to fun such as IPIC movie theatre, Museum of Illusion or the Battle of the Games. This Rack location has a decent selection. Most recently went shoe shopping with my boyfriend and he found exactly what he needed. Sometimes the store seems a little messy and chaotic with merchandise not displayed properly. It seems customers and employees just kind of let merchandise get tossed about. Other than that, good place to shop for better quality clothing and accessories at discounted prices.

I'll come another day. I did come here in a mission though, and that was for a new luggage bag. I didn't want hard case, and I didn't want expandable. I just recently flown to California and to Maine, and on both trips, I saw people having to rearrange their bags to zip up the expandable part of their luggage, and that the hard cases don't fit in their luggage sizing at the gate. So I want something thin that has some wiggle room to flatten out. I saw only 2 that I liked and fit the sizing I liked, but they were still $80. I think I'll keep looking. I still have time before my next vacation. Since I was there I wanted to walk around and look at their holiday decor. They do have some cute things for wall, and for Halloween. But for me. I'm done decorating for the seasons and holidays. But still like to look at them.

So before wasting my time, I asked an associate if I could return a carry on suitcase that had not worked (defective rollers) on the one trip this month it had been used on. She said yes. I waited in line 25 min only to have an unfriendly manager tell me I couldn't return it or even exchange it because it had been used and was scuffed from its one airline trip. I travel once a month. My last carry-on with roller lasted 13 years! No scuffs, btw. This one was junk, even if a Samsonite. This experience is exactly why I shop Amazon. Easy return system. I'll never shop at a TJ Maxx again. Certainly not the one in Great Hills! Terrible service. The manager wasn't even polite, just rude about it. Didn't even have a minute to talk about it in a civil manner.

For the record, this Zara was closed for 6 months for remodels. It is practically a different store…read morenow and is more in line with the Zaras of now. I have started to actually try to put together outfits and good ole fast fashion Zara has helped me get into it while not absolutely breaking the bank. This is the first time I've come to this Zara since the remodel and the space feels so much more open now. Almost too open where it feels like you have to wander so far to find anything. It's significantly cleaner and organized than in the past. I got a few things and when I checked out, they have that new autocheckout system where you drop it all in a box and it somehow knows what you got. I'm not the biggest fan of that system, but it's better than waiting in a disastrous line. Shoutout ZARAMAN for having some cool clothes for me. I had a moment when halfway through a stay and suddenly realize, "Oh no... I forgot to pack that." Normally I'd make a quick H-E-B run, but Target was closer, so off I went. Walking through the front doors felt oddly... surreal. Not because anything was dramatically wrong. Because everything felt like it had simply stopped moving forward. Shelves were either sparsely stocked or looked like they'd lost an argument with a tornado. Entire sections felt disheveled and forgotten. It wasn't dirty so much as... neglected. Like everyone collectively agreed to straighten things up tomorrow. I needed coconut water for my daily matcha, so I confidently opened the Target app, found the aisle number, and set off on my little grocery quest. Except... The layout of this store seems determined to challenge both logic and navigation. The aisle arrangement felt oddly disconnected, making what should have been a simple grab-and-go mission turn into an unexpected scavenger hunt. Normally I'd flag down an employee. If I could find one. I wandered for what felt like far longer than necessary and, despite looking, never crossed paths with a single team member on the sales floor. Eventually, persistence paid off. I found my coconut water, headed to self-checkout, completed my purchase, and escaped back into the fresh air. As I walked toward my car... I swear I heard a tiny voice behind me whisper, "Help us..." Surely my imagination.
