What is there to say about Costco that hasn't already been said? I hadn't been to a Costco location since my daughter was a child and we had a membership. Had to swing by to pick up some things for work (my boss has an exec membership). The store was spacious; of course, it's a warehouse. Everything you could need in life-in bulk. Long and I mean insanely long checkout lines BUT the cashiers speed you right through. Super busy and packed with people. Clean store. Clean bathrooms. Last but not least, the $1.50 hot dog combo. I couldn't even eat half of it, I was so full. Also, it may or may not have given me the bubble guts later in the day. Hahahahaha. read more

Overall: 4.5/5 This is our go-to Costco since it's the nearest location with a gas station. We also stop here to pick up medications, so it's super convenient to get all our errands done in one place. They have everything we need. Hot Dog ($1.50): Tastes the same as ever. It's served in a bag instead of foil, and the condiments are self-serve. The relish is delicious, and it comes with a soft drink. Calzone: Very crispy outer edge that was a bit overdone. I'm generally a long-time Costco fanboy, and have been going to this location for ages. It has the usual hectic downsides of parking and crazy check-out lines, but it's overall a solid location of one of my favorite places. Today I had a small negative experience I wanted to relay, though, in case it's seen and taken as feedback. They had free hats advertised that I made the drive for, but since I already had auto-renewal enabled I didn't quality to receive one. It sounds as if many people online were given the hat either way, though, which to me is what would make sense to be the case. The worker I spoke to encouraged me to literally turn off auto-renewals so that I could qualify in the future, but that's literally the opposite of the entire purpose though, right? It felt like a weirdly counterproductive way of putting off a member, prioritizing policy over logic and good faith. read more

In March of 2026 this place has a rating of 3.5. I did not know a Costco could get less than five stars, and after coming here a ton, I still don't know how this place has such a low score. It's fantastic. Costco as a chain consistently provides me and my family a 5 star experience. They are always spacious, clean, well organized, and chock full of great deals for bulk shopping. Plus! There are typically samples available for their food items. Oftentimes there's meat based samples so I usually skip out on them, but husband has had a lovely experience. It's a great spot for medicine and supplements that you know you're going to consistently take. The volume is always really big. I'm told the tee shirts are soft and comfy too. The only Costco in north Austin but it gets the job done. The best time to come in the weekends are 9:30am or before. Or else you will get stuck in the check out line that is not set up between and funnels traffic. For the most part during the day it will always be busy. That said, parking is typically rough, foot traffic is heavy, and the gas lines on weekends can be atrocious. Best time to come is a weekday afternoon before Austin traffic picks up. Customer service at the front desk is hit or miss, some employees are super relaxed, while others can have a bit of an attitude. I went to the Wm Cannon location in person to make an appointment for new tires. I chose the tires and scheduled an appointment for a week later. When I showed up, no one had ordered the tires. I was told they could have them the next day. I had already taken the day off so I couldn't take another day. The guy sent me to Research Blvd location, he said he would call to let them know I was on my way. When I arrived, I had the misfortune of meeting Reid. Apparently Reed was supposed to be off but had to come in and decided that I was the customer he would be most unpleasant to. He did his best to make sure I knew I was an inconvenience. I bought the membership for this purchase and possible large appliance purchases coming up. I'll be cancelling the membership after this year. It's not worth it. read more

Costco is great. Don't get into Austin that often to go, but it is worth having a membership for the $1.50 hotdog. Only thing I don't like is sometimes I find a product that's really great, but then I never find it again. Peanut butter Chex for example, the greatest ever. No longer carry it. My daughter likes the body butter lotion. Gone can't find it. Rotisserie chicken strips, awesome, gone can't find it. Of course they have been replaced by many other options and the prices are good for the large quantity. So it's always fun coming for a hot dog and some groceries. Love both Costcos in Austin. We usually hit the south one, but because of traffic tried the north one. It is just as good maybe better, since it had items that have been missing from the south one. We loaded up on our favorite spicy ahi tuna sashimi, and great Malbec wine for $7 a bottle. I needed some new kicks and Costco was the place. Two pairs of decent Sketchers for $40 and one pair of Izods for $19. Are you kidding me?! And they had my size 13 unlike other stores. My only complaint, which is not Costco's fault, is the new biodegradeable plastic bags their rotisserie chickens now come in due to stupid ignorant laws Austin City No Brain Council put in place. Make sure you double box it so it doesn't leak all over your car. I can't wait for the one to open soon in the Albany region! read more

I don't know how I cannot give Costco any less than a 5-Star rating. I have been shopping there as a member for several years now. Many of my friends were Costco members for a long time and always told me I should join so I finally took the plunge. I ended up getting the Costco Visa card, which is also been great since it's 4% cashback.. I don't think I've ever had a bad experience at Costco and there are a lot of positives to being a member here. I don't go here as often as many families may do because I live by myself and I don't have a family so I'm shopping for one so I have to be careful. But I always get the gas here which is usually several cents cheaper than anyone else in town. Sometimes Walmart Murphy's Oil may come close, but never beats Costco's price. They expanded the entrance to the gas station so now we have more room and less bottlenecks. I only get annoyed with those customers who are impatient, waiting for a pump and move out of sync and throw off the flow. I love that $1.50 Costco 100% beef hotdog with a soda. Their pizza is pretty darn good too, it's a steal for $9.99 for a large take-home and I think the cheese pizza is the best. Nearly everything here is lower and cost than H-E-B or Walmart but you just have to buy a larger quantity. The bananas here are cheaper and much of the fruit as well. The frozen section always has some great deals and this is my place to get Topo Chico when they have it in stock. I love their croissants and their cakes are very, very good here and very well priced. Same with their cheesecake and no one sells an extra large pumpkin pie for $5.99. The last year and a half or so I have dabbled with their eyeglasses. The prices and selection here are so great that I ended up getting around 10 pairs of prescription glasses and sunglasses. The reason is I went to an eye doctor a couple years ago and needed eyeglasses then they tried to sell me a pair for $425! I was flabbergasted! I go to Costco and bring my prescription and they're like all of the special lens upgrades are bundled and it cost me an average of $130 - while the eye doctor charges you for every little Lens upgrade like glare or blue light and etc, Costco doesn't do that. The girl there also told me I should get prescription sunglasses because they are "life-changing". I kind of laughed at her, but she was so right! I love my prescription sunglasses because when I wear my usual Ray Ban sunglasses I am blind but not with these! So you see that's why I needed 10 pairs - so many cool frames and options! lol! And I love their return policy here! They will accept anything at any time within reason. Like you can't return food a year later, but they back up their products and will provide you with the refund. That's great peace of mind, especially when you're buying things like large expensive electronics. I got my LG OLED TV from Best Buy and within 3 months I had a defective screen issue and Best Buy deferred me to LG for help because I didn't pay for the Best Buy maintenance plan (and never will). I just kept thinking I should've bought this at Costco because they would have taken it back with no issues or problems like they have with most everything I have returned. I've been an Executive member here many years but have begun to question whether I should continue. Nice employees. Clean store. But...2 lines stretching half-way back into the store. Not only annoying to check out, but it actually makes it hard to shop. My only complaint is how far away it is from downtown. Other than that, great Costco location. Plenty of parking, and lots of selections inside. There's also tons of staff around to help if needed, be that in the aisles looking for items or handing out samples. It does get pretty busy at times, so just time out when you want to go. I have gone on Sunday afternoons and it is really busy then! Nevertheless, the lines move fast (checkout and gas) so it's not too big of an inconvenience, in the end. This is a high stress Costco location. Go to the one in Cedar Park or Pfugerville for a better experience. I just don't know about this location but it seems like there are two types of people that shop here those that want to go in and out of the store and they will bulldoze you if you are in their way or the entire family leisurely shopping. 183 is also a mess and the entry and exit points in and out of the parking lot is just not planned to handle all the traffic. If you don't come 20 minutes before they open - parking here is just pure madness. Best to avoid this place or take the day off during the week and come here before lunch. read more

While I'm excited to be at Costco now with everything going on in the country. I was very unhappy with how they chose to go about my membership process. I went today in the middle of the day to avoid long lines. Over all was about 15 mins to be seen. Yay there. Yet when I was called up I asked a simple question about how many users per account/membership. I was told a primary and one house hold. I was like perfect. Things run along then of course I'm nudged about their CC. But never was the words Credit Card mentioned. I decline. My Total comes up to $130...... I'm taken back as I thought I was getting the intro membership. Never was I asked about a level I wanted to told about my opinions. I was just placed into the top tier. Which mind you if I would be spending more I would be all about. But I know my shopping habits. Then when I voiced that I didn't want that tier, I was told I would be able to downgrade in 24hours. I hadn't put my payment in or anything. Odd The lady whom was singing me up. Began to tell me. Oh the basic was is pointless. You don't earn anything with that one. Ok but shouldn't that be my decision as the customer on which membership package I choose. Before I left I was noticing that many people where just being placed into the top tier of membership's no where did I hear anyone explaining the difference. Also there is signage covering the base membership price. I'll be going back in 24 hours to downgrade to the level I was wanting to start with. I will update if anything goes good or bad. I have only been shopping at Costco for 8 months and have been around to a fair share of them. This location, as well as every one I've been to, gets crazy crowded and I suggest you come here as soon as you can. The parking lot fills up quick, but I must say that once you step inside here it totally makes up for it. From the front to the back of the store I haven't met a single employee that wasn't willing to offer help or assistance. I think what I enjoy most about this Costco is the different variety of food. Some people come to Costco for meds, electronics, plants. I find myself in the grocery section every time and I find something new with every visit. I even bought a pre-built computer from this location for less than $1300 before peripherals and it is performing better than any previous computer I've had. Plus the Costco warranty on it is SUPERB. Ordered some dog food using a SHOP card; the order arrived over a week later and also taped up like it was attempting to make weight at a local wrestling federation. Costco has a great policy with SHOP orders where they don't do refunds/etc for complete boondogles, but they still debit the same amount of money as if they were delivering excellence. I've shopped at this Costco for 27 years, and it's staffed by the most excellent and accommodating people. Always clean. Always on point. BUT. Costco corporate just did an awful thing, fundamentally changing my opinion of the company. They just announced they will not stock Mifepristone... which they do not currently stock and have never announced they planned to stock. It is disturbing and inappropriate for Costco to announce this, and I can only conclude that they have capitulated to pressure from interest groups of people who wouldn't purchase this medication anyway. There is demand. This is healthcare. And Costco has no business deciding what healthcare options are available to its members. The only remedy I can imagine is for Costco corporate to release a statement describing how they determine demand for new products, what that demand actually looks like for Mifepristone among members, and to draft and release a formal policy describing how Costco will decide in the future which medications it will carry. read more

Drove 1-1/2 hours from out of town last night and stopped by to get items for Christmas. We wanted some meat and at the time, they had started cleaning up said they couldn't cut the bulk rib pack - "too dangerous" yet they had smaller "flanked cut" ribs about 3/8" thick; BS but, not going to argue with the night crew. Came back the next day and bought a bulk NY stip loin and the (2) pack bulk short ribs. Again I asked and they said "no problem" they were $6.99 / lb. I got the meat back it was now priced at $8.99 / lb. I asked for a manager and instead of holding up the register, I checkout with the $100 plus ribs instead of the $80 plus ribs. I went to customer service and the manager came over since I had asked for him. His response, "I should have charged you even more". My response, was that might have been ok "IF, you would have communicated there would be a charge to cut my ribs. As such, you I think you should charge me the bulk price of $6.99 since your team did not inform me of the charges". He then said "sorry, I can refund you if you like"? Let's think about this, cutting a bulk package should be a "service" not a customer expense. Second, his explanation of time vs expense is BS. 15 seconds to remove the bulk pack, zero trimming on bulk beef ribs, 3-4 minutes to cut. He has maybe $3.00 in total labor and .08 in packing costs. This used to be a free service that aligned with what Costco used to be. They are moving more to a Walmart approach with this lack of customer service with nickel and dime charges. I've only been to this costco twice but the second time it left me feeling so stressed. The lines are long and the aisles are small but that's fine. What really stressed me out was the food court. I asked how long a pizza was going to take and they said 20 minutes. Tell me why I waited 45 minutes and was yelled at multiple times. Other people had a similar experience. They don't call out the numbers of full pizzas until there's a stack of like 5-10 and they are so busy you can't even go ask if yours is ready. They need a better system by hiring more people and having a screen for everyone to see what orders are ready. I can't even be mad at the workers for being rude because they were hustling so hard with not enough hands. Do better costco! read more

This Costco location has more plants (tree saplings) than the South Austin store. It also stocks more Indian food varieties including organic dal (lentils) and sona masoori rice, usually by Khazana brand. Checkout lines are long, especially during the weekend. read more

Just left Costco Pflugerville chasing down a pair of shoes. In& Out in minutes. Come here to North Austin Costco, just for a pair of shoes, and the lines are crazy. It's about 4:15 on Friday 6/19/20; Not sure what the difference is but the lines here are insane. Since I have only a few items, a very nice couple let me go ahead of them in the self check out line. Gotta love that Texas hospitality. 3 stars for crowd control. Seriously need some "Line Monitors" and cones to control the mayhem. IMHO! I've seen it managed better in other stores. You love something until they give you a reason not to. I've generally had a great experience in this Costco besides the times I have been in the membership services. The other day, Therese D. made me like I was being interrogated for refunding my recent membership renewal. Therese was extremely rude and unprofessional. Backstory - I didn't intend to renew my membership automatically but it was set on auto renewal for some reason so as soon as that was charged, I went in within the week to get that refunded. My membership without the renewal ends at the end of the month and this is the beginning of the month, so it baffles me why she was giving me a difficult time getting a refund. Therese asked me why I don't want to renew and I said it's because I don't buy enough to keep my membership. Then she proceeded to look at my purchase history and said in an irritated tone "well, you buy a lot here, you buy something every month" And then this is when I started to feel uncomfortable because I have already provided a reason and what is "enough" is a personal preference and she has no right to judge for another person without knowing the other person's financial situation. That was not the end of it, she then had asked me the same question and I had to repeat myself like the answer I provided was not good enough. At the end of the day, that is not how she should treat a customer and a customer can decide to cancel a membership whenever they want. What Terese has failed to do - to provide professional customer service and good sales techniques. If she was trying to convince me to keep my membership, she could have phrased it much nice and ask me to reconsider given my purchase record. But nope, her attitude was unpleasant and her tones and word felt like an attack to me as a customer. Costco shouldn't pride itself on best customer service if its employees continue to have this kind of unfriendly and impolite customer service. read more
