I probably go to Marshall's twice a month and spend anywhere from $300 to $1000 every shopping trip. The manager on duty at the round rock marshals this evening was so aggressive. Round Rock Marshall's this evening was so aggressive and treated me with such disrespect, literally left a cart FULL of stuff and an OPENED drink on the counter & walked out. The sales clerk was very friendly and excepted my returns for store credit, and then the manager came over, did not even greet me and started talking down to her employee. "Have you actually checked that these are on the receipt?" She began scrutinizing all four items I was returning told me that, the penguin tie I was returning, they did not sell that brand (even though it had the tag attached to it still). The tie, I was looking up the receipt on my phone because it was not on the paper receipt I had with me. She went through the rest of the items, making sure that the tag on the item matched the department. And THEN, she scanned THE Jason Wu dress that was $49 (on her portable scanner). She then told me I could not return my Jason Wu dress because in her mobile scanner the color was not "red"! Mind you, I literally bought two red Jason Wu dresses the last time I was at the store because I was unable to decide which one I liked better. I'm super annoyed because I was very excited about the things I was going to get for my upcoming Bali vacation & have never been treated this way by a sales manager. Usually, they are pressing me to get the marshals credit card because I buy so much each time I go in. I had six shirts for my son and eight complete outfits for myself, a curling iron, a couple of notebooks, two phone chargers, and two phone cases to match the burnt orange dress I was getting for the UT football game this weekend. Plus, they already opened sparkling water... Add it up! That's what you just lost. I will never shop at that location ever again. I can't get those two hours of my time back. What bothers me the MOST was the way she was treating her employee. She was 15 years her senior, and a terrible example of how to treat people and talk to others.

Marshall's....hmm. I noticed I hadn't left a review yet. I agree with the other reviews that they have a great selection of shoes, but there are times when I come here unable to find anything I like. Yet my coworker always finds the cutest shoes on sale. Same goes for clothes for me. I may browse and browse the racks and mostly leave empty handed. My coworker will find a great bargain on clothes. The thing I do love about this store is the beauty aisle. Face masks, hair care and makeup brushes. Score! Household items? Score! Organization boxes or shelves? Score! These are the items where I have to tell myself to calm down and not overdo it. I love to browse the household items they have. I bought a lot of great stuff here to organize my overflowing closet. Now it's in great shape! My coworker scored a great gift for our White Elephant gift exchange one year. It was a Moscow Mule set and people were fighting over it. The checkout lines used to be so long and I usually come during lunch so I am in a hurry. That has actually improved when I visit. The lines definitely go faster than another big discount store. I definitely appreciated that. Check this place out to see if you find a great deal.

They have the cutest journals! And they're usually under $9!

I love this Marshalls. They have EVERYTHING. I always walk out with something. The store is organized and I can always find what I'm looking for (and then some....). I haven't had any issues with the employees here. Everyone seems fairly nice... never had a rude experience. My favorite section is the pet section. They have the bests stuff for pretty darn cheap.... no need to get a dog bed at Petsmart or Petco.. just come to Marshalls!

Bug bites from trying on clothes there!

Kohl's - The main reason I visit Kohl's: Amazon Returns!

    Kohl's

I've been a Kohl's customer for many, many years, but no longer. I doubt I will buy anything here…read moreagain. They so rarely had my size in Levis that I just stopped looking, anyway. I can go to the Levis website and order the exact pair I want in my size and they will be on my doorstep in a day or two. So why bother coming to Kohl's anymore? Amazon Returns. A few days ago, I was here for an Amazon return and they handed me a coupon for 20% off my purchase at Kohl's. So I thought I'd use it. In a nutshell, that 20% off coupon Amazon gives you is bullshit. Allow me to explain... I went to the area where all of the men's sportswear clothing used to be to discover that there wasn't much to choose from. There was a lot of Champion gear, but their track pants felt like burlap. Seriously. Burlap. Nevertheless, I found a nice pair of Under Armor joggers. Good enough. I also found a Yellowstone board game (a gift for my parents - they love the TV show - shush, don't tell'em I got'em that until after this Christmas). My wife got some bras. So three totally unrelated items: pants, bras, and board game. While checking out, however, we were informed that we wouldn't be getting 20% off of anything because the coupon wouldn't work for the things we wanted. It says it all right there, in that tiny font wording on the coupon that no naked eye can read, the giant list of everything in the store that the 20% doesn't apply to. After I took the coupon home and put it under my microscope so I could read it, I would venture to say that the 20% off coupon does not work for 95% of the stuff for sale within Kohl's. After paying a lot more than we thought we would have to pay for our stuff, we were walking out when I noticed that there was a second larger location for the rest of the men's sportswear on the other side of the registers, hidden behind all their Christmas stuff. Silly me! Why didn't I just look behind the mound of Christmas swag back where the women's clothes used to be for my men's pants?! This store sucks. Unless there are some big changes, I doubt Kohl's will be around much longer. This place continues to go downhill, year after year. I seriously doubt that putting a Sephora in the middle of the store will save them. I remember when Blockbuster Video tried to save themselves by having a Radio Shack outlet that sold a small selection of cords, batteries, adapters, etc. in some of their stores. That did not work out for either of them in the end, and I predict history repeating itself in the end with Kohl's (Sephora may survive, though). Hopefully, by the time Kohl's goes under Amazon will have a drone service available to pick up my returns in my driveway.

She was quick, patient, and genuinely kind. If this review were based solely on her service, it would easily be a 5/5. She truly deserves a raise. The bad: I was standing in line patiently while watching employees talk in front of me, with two registers initially open. The employee at register one turned off her light, causing the remaining line to become even longer. The customer who was next in line went to register one to check out, understandably thinking it was still open, only to be told it was not. Meanwhile, people who were behind her then moved ahead to the only open register in the entire store. When the customer questioned the employee at register one about why she wasn't informed sooner, the employee stared at her, popped her gum, and shrugged her shoulders. Later, someone else in line walked to the front and asked the employee from register one if another register could be opened. She responded that she was leaving for the day and that no one else could take her place, though she apologized for the inconvenience. There are great deals at this store, and I typically don't blame employees. However, aside from the slight attitude displayed, this situation points to a clear lack of proper management. With unemployment at a record high and this store appearing short-staffed, this location could greatly benefit from hiring more employees. Doing so would not only help stimulate the economy but also provide customers with a much better experience. Separate note: I was only there to make a return. There really should be a return-only lane in these stores, and the absence of one has been noticeable across multiple Burlington locations. That said, it's hard to expect improvements like that when the store can't consistently keep more than one register open.

An elderly customer--who was simply unaware of the store's updated pricing model--was harshly spoken to by the store manager, Jennifer. When the customer politely expressed surprise at the higher prices, Jennifer snapped at her and said, "Pay attention next time! It's not Dollar Tree's problem you didn't pay attention." The customer was visibly shocked and too timid to defend herself. It was heartbreaking to watch. There was absolutely no need for the tone or hostility--especially directed at someone clearly just confused by recent changes. We all deserve patience and respect, but especially our elders. While I understand that staffing challenges exist and retail work is not easy, Jennifer's demeanor was unprofessional and unnecessarily cruel. A manager's role is to lead by example, and in this case, that example was one of impatience, disrespect, and lack of empathy. I spoke with the assistant manager privately and respectfully urged her to ask Jennifer to treat customers with basic decency. We are all human, and a little kindness goes a long way.

Since today is their first day everything looks great, clean and neat and well stocked, and plenty of employees to help. There's a big variety of sections including toys, makeup, decor, and lots more, but my favorites are the snacks and graphic tees. For snacks the prices are close to convenience store prices so they're not a great value, but the selection is great with all kinds of things including Japanese candy and hard to find trendy items. Meanwhile the t-shirts seem like a great value at $5.55 for licensed designs that would cost $15 at Kohl's. One complaint is that this location seems to have only self checkout registers which are fine except one of my two purchases didn't ring up at the right price. The nearby employee was happy to fix it for me quickly, but it did slow things down a bit. I imagine it will go more smoothly when not crowded, and it does let you have half a dozen registers going at once instead of just one or two cashiers struggling at peak times.
