I've been into this location a few times and have always had a good experience. Today I went in and was blown away by the helplessness of the staff. While on the floor I grabbed so many items that I was dropping them. Out of nowhere a sales associate offered to take them to the front and hold them for me. Then when I got to the register I was missing a tag. The young lady at the register searched and searched and eventually found it. Everything rang up perfectly and I left extremely happy. I bought Hugo Boss sunglasses that were tagged as including a box. The box was not given to me, and when I went back, I was told it had been thrown away. I was then told they couldn't provide another box because it "wasn't a high brand," which didn't make sense given the brand. What made this worse was that after leaving a review, management contacted me directly by text and responded in a rude and unprofessional manner instead of trying to resolve the issue. Ok, they are under new management so maybe they don't care what they sell or how the employees are representing the brand but gosh yall! This is as bad a Goodwill with all the stains and holes. At least the employees at Goodwill don't look like they are heading to the lake! I would hope the owner would like people who are somewhat reasonable to represent them. For the love GET OFF YOUR PHONE! They must have had a really good weekend because ethe racks are low on merchandise and they had hardly any shoes. I just recently heard of Uptown Cheapskate. They have a few scattered through the Austin area. I've been to 2 of them so far. They do have a large parking lot. They're in a large shopping center. As I walked in, I was greeted. I wanted to see if they would buy my clothes that I no longer wear. I had a large bag full of random items, dress pants, sweaters, shorts, dresses. A little bit of everything. I had to create an account on their iPad. Which took a few minutes. Not sure why they needed so much information about me. Seems a little excessive. Seriously, you need my drivers license number? For what? Moving forward, she said it would take about 45 minutes. I was okay with that. I was going to walk around the store and see what they had. And if I wanted to, I could go to the stores nearby, they will text or email you when they're done with their process. Places like this for me, is hit or miss. Unfortunately it was a miss for me. I didn't find anything that I wanted, but that doesn't mean the next time I come by will be the same. These places have new inventory coming in all the time. Guess that could be the fun of it, what treasures will I find? They called out my name and I went to the counter to see what they bought. Turns out the bag of clothes I brought in, they only bought 2 items. A Lilly Pulitzer dress and a Cashmere sweater. They offered me a store credit of (something) I can't remember the price. But the store credit option is more than the cash option. I took the cash option, just because, finding something I will like might take a while, and looking at their several stores just to use the credit. So cash it was. $13.50 is what i was offered for the 2 items. Obviously they need to make money, so they low ball you and sell for twice that. Or sell for more than what they give. I'm okay with the process. The clothes that they didn't buy, I was told they donate to a local place in Round Rock. Which I'm fine with. I needed space in my closet. It really wasn't about the money. I knew going into this I wasn't going to get close to what I paid. BUT...... when I walk around and randomly pull items off the rack and assess what you're selling, and see what you offered me, it's shady. My Lilly dress, worn once, in perfect condition. Not a stitch out of place. No makeup stains, No sweat or deodorant stains. Like com'on $13.50 for 2 excellent condition items? Can't think of anything that would keep me from going back. Do understand though that about 75% of the merch - at least at this location - is for girls or young women. Older guys like me can find some jeans and shirts but I suspect the styling of the women's clothes would't be popular with older women. And as I say the predominance of the clothing is women's. Friendly service? Check. People who seem like they actually like working there? Check. Wide variety, good condition, fair prices? Check all the way. One note; if you are selling and have more than two bags (all clothing must be bagged) and come later in the day, you may be asked to leave only two bags and be prepared to do something else or wait a while for your offer. The later in the day it gets, the more the clothing they're sorting tends to pile up. Other than that, go and save some bucks and get your new look. read more

Brought in two huge IKEA bags of nice clothes -- all clean, no stains, no holes, some never-worn shoes, and good brands for men, women, and teens. Was told it would take 30-35 minutes, but after waiting over that, they claimed they "already called my name," which they definitely did not. The worker was rude and had an attitude. After going through everything, they only picked 7 items and offered me $23. Meanwhile, the store was a mess, full of cheap fast fashion in way worse condition than what I brought. Then they asked if I wanted to "donate" the rest, which felt like a way for them to resell my stuff without paying. Whole experience felt like a scam. Never going back. read more

Great place to try and sell your gently used clothing items, and buy clothing when they have good promos going on. I had better luck selling to them earlier this year versus now for some reason, not sure why. In any case, this time around I was able to score a great professional-looking dress for a little over seven dollars, thanks to the end of the year promo they had going on. This is a clothing consignment store with a vast selection of different fashions. It's only about 3000 ft.² or a third the size of the Ross next door. They also sell shoes and accessories. The majority of clothes found here are ladies fashions, but there is a section for men. Needless to say, the prices here are far higher than your average Goodwill, and even more than the Ross dress for less store next-door. The trade-off, however, is that the selection is better, and the quality of the goods is also better. read more

Such a cute spot! I was in the area and decided to pop in-- what struck me initially was how organized everything was! The color coded racks made it fun and easy to shop. Great prices, recognizable brands and even shoes in my size (10+)! The staff was friendly and helpful and let me know that they accept clothes from customers that are washed, lightly worn, and (preferably) an on trend, recognizable brand. I learned that they give clothes away to those in need as well. Definitely a cool spot that I'll return to. read more

This was my first time visiting this location and I won't be back. This is based off of customer service alone! My daughter and I were looking around and selected an armful of items...the entire time we are shopping an associate seen us and even spoke to us. When we get ready to try the clothes on we are told their dressing room is closed and closes at 6:30. We had already been in the store over 30 minutes and no one advised us of this nor is there a sign stating this. While trying to debate between buying the items we picked out or not we overhear another customer questioning about why most of her clothes were not accepted and another associate tells her that they stopped accepting "Cheap" clothes....my daughter and myself looked at her with disbelief as well as the other customer just looked so offended by the statement. I get this is a secondhand store that sells gently used name brand clothes but to define someone's clothes as a "cheap brand" is insulting. read more

I took three bags of clothes today. The items were good quality and season appropriate. They took five items and offered me $14.50! Not worth the trouble hauling everything there! I even called before I went and asked if they take seasonal things or anything and was told that they're looking for seasonal items like jackets, pants, long sleeved shirts and accessories like belts and shoes. I had several nice pee coats, sweaters, and shoes and they only took one puffer jacket, a cardigan and three belts. The puffer jacket was Anne Klein. I was actually impressed with their brands they carried in their store, especially with their bags and purses. They never texted me and when I called the next day they said they donated all my clothes and gave me store credit. Their system clearly has issues as when I called and told the gentleman my situation he thought I was someone else so I wasn't alone in their failed communication. I had to print my call log from cell phone to show no text was sent to my phone. I lost my clothes. Had to spend time proving myself and arguing after work. Not worth the time or drive. I love Old Town cheapskate it is such a cute store with all kinds of clothes for everybody. When they first opened up, they had bathrooms available for their customers. They don't have that anymore, which is a bummer. They also used to have these little rolling carts for your clothes that you wanted to buy to pull around while you continue to Shop they don't have that anymore and it gets really heavy holding your clothes and sometimes you're trying to match things together so their new system of putting things behind the counter doesn't really work. I went there today actually and I spent a good amount of money I would have spent more if there was a bathroom and if there were baskets or rolling carts to hold my clothes. read more

Went to Uptown to see what they would offer for 2 pairs of shoes and purse. Waited, walked around looking to see what they had. Notice a pair of shoes that are the exact same ones I brought in priced at $17.99. I said ok. When they texted to let me know that they were done. I walked up and they offered me $23 for all 3 items, i looked at the girl and said really. How much for just the shoes. She said $13 Im like wow. Ok. This store is a rip off. Most of the clothes there belong at Goodwill. I will never go back. You would probably get more from Facebook market or Offer Up then here at this store. read more
