World Market is an eclectic store with global style, offering a variety of items from home furnishings and kitchen items to international foods and drinks. I have found woven baskets from Ghana and Christmas ornaments from Kazakhstan. You can go in and be immediately overwhelmed or bask in the delight of all your findings. World Market is my go-to for chocolate covered tea biscuits, certain types of jams and wines from around the world. The store's ambiance often feels like an open market luring you to different parts of the store. If you are looking for a unique gift, this is the store you. Today I was looking for green tea for a friend...not any type of green tea. I was specifically looking for white hibiscus and peach green tea. Score! I found ample amount of this tea with a plethora of other similar teas. The cashier was so kind to point precisely to the part of the store where I could find all their teas. I drop into World Market relatively regularly to check out their seasonal tableware and decor, along with their fun candy, tea, and drink selections. I also really like their wrapping paper and gift bag options, and find cute hostess gift items aplenty. Today I stopped in and didn't find anything I wanted, but I'll keep coming back because every season is different and their selection rotates. On a very sad for me note, they stopped carrying the chorizo sausage I occasionally buy for a treat. I'm sad to see it go! But you can't have it all. This store is clean and fun to wander in, and the staff is friendly. The checkout line can be a bit slow depending on who's working and how chatty they tend to be. But better friendly staff than the opposite. The parking at this location is terrible- not the fault of World Market, but a factor as a customer nonetheless. read more

I like that they have a clearance section and everything else is expensive or different prices that you might agree or disagree on. The staff is willing to help you without you even asking them first because they walk around asking you if you need some assistance which is actually very helpful because I didn't need some And I got what I needed with the help and I was checking out and it was very easy and very helpful to answer all my questions at the checkout point. The manager Emmanuel at the Bee Caves store is Amazing!! He is, sweet, knowledgeable, kind, personable, helpful and attentive!! We were looking for 6 chairs to go with my new wooden dining table. Emmanuel went above to help me measure, try out a chair at home. I came back and ordered five more. He helped me apply for credit card so I could get discount. This is a cool store. I used to shop here quite a bit. Of course I do 50% of my shopping online now. I wanted to get out the other day to look at an Xmas gift for somebody and I wanted to see it in person. The store was pretty busy and I was having trouble finding what I wanted to look over. I ran into a nice employee who was cool and helpful. She walked me over to the shelf where the item was and It was exactly what I wanted. I can't begin to express how much this store has. I came at the right time of year with all the autumn & Halloween displays out. It was such a treat!! They had an entire wall of Torani sugar free syrup, I have been looking so long for different flavors and they had more than I could imagine! But the candles totally stole the show. Dozens upon dozens of candles, all regular and seasonal. I couldn't believe it, most were amazing and the ones that weren't are not bad, just not as good. I shop here often. They have very unique items as well as a great foods section. I love the different cultures represented in the foods. The prosciutto and other meats, the Iberian jamon chips, and the sauces are all very good. I've also bought furniture and recently a rug. Oh World Market. Every time I walk in, I want something. Fortunately I have the sense to give anything I'm interested in a thorough once over. The furniture can either be fairly well made or rickety junk. But burning $300 for something they have well made is a lot better than finding a similar piece elsewhere for $1000+. The food selection, while bizarre, has some interesting things you really can't find elsewhere. We don't seem to buy wine there though. read more

Even walking out the door they asked me if I found everything ok and I told them since I'm not from the area that I really couldn't fit anything I wanted in my bag. They very friendly said thank you for coming and Hope next time I am in town I will visit. I felt it was very nice of them and didn't feel pressure to buy anything. I ordered a Super cool round bookshelf online Apr 22. Waited for weeks and have been charged for the piece of furniture. Today is May 14 and it still hasn't arrived. I have spoken with world market's customer service after spending over 2 hours on hold and filed two customer service tickets (never answered). They referred me to seko deliveries. I spoke to two different offices. The last person assured me that the bookshelf would be delivered this week and a delivery person would reach out to me to arrange a time. I haven't heard a word. Service is getting worse if that's possible: Today 07/28/16 there was no person at the checkout. Had to ask someone to come over and serve. When the person comes over then more incompetence, was overcharged for one extra item. It was then corrected but still way too long. ----- Wait line at the checkout is still too long. ----- Still super slow at the checkouts, what's the excuse now Cost Plus ? It's holidays season and you don't have all the checkouts open ? I see lots of staff walking around the store. I totally forgot about World Market. I've always gotten their emails but after I moved from the chain store wasteland of south Dallas, I never really thought to go here again until recently. I needed an umbrella for my patio STAT and it appeared WM was having a sale. I had the best experience there. This girl who helped me out (beth??) was just amazing. Went to the back to look for the color I wanted, helped me figure out that one was cheaper than another and was basically my personal assistant through the whole process. She was fantastic. I had to return one item (some umbrella lights) today and again, had a fantastic experience. I was *that* customer. You know the one. Didn't have a receipt, the original packaging or frankly any idea at all what the price was. In fact, I tried to return it with different packaging altogether from the set of lights I'd replaced it with. Yeah, real winner. Maxine got me all sorted with herculean patience and research on the interwebs. She went above and beyond to help me out. Of course, there's a whole bunch of cool stuff, great jewelry, art, rugs, home stuff, wine, beer, snacks, toys but I was most impressed by how spot on the help was both times. read more

New things I found at World Market: A large red plastic Japanese umbrella for an outdoor table. But it's PLASTIC. Beautiful handmade paper gift bags with ribbon handles. The textures and colors are dreamy. I purchased several. Large assortment of greeting cards. Really, where I get my card fix for special occasions. A small glass front cooler at checkout filled with assorted cans and bottles of waters, juices, and colas. Where's the beer and cans of wine? A more open space plan that seems to showcase their foods and kitchen wares better. Samples of their thin ginger cookies and Kettle potato chips. Bright summery pillows. Several styles of outdoor furniture. Battery operated strings of outdoor lights. I will probably go back for some of these. Nothing on sale in the beer and wine department. If you sign up for their reward program, you get coupons via e-mail, and a lot of times you can use them in conjunction with the regular store coupons, so I get some great deals from time to time. It's not as good as CVS where I think sometimes they actually pay me to shop, but still, the savings are substantial. The item I most love to purchase here is Illy brand coffee. I tried it at 360 Uno and thought it was the most delicious coffee ever but was disheartened by the prices at Central Market. It's much more affordable here and seems equally fresh (don't let the dust on the canister deter you, I promise it's really good). The furniture, which is reasonably priced, has proven sturdy as well attractive. My dining table and benches look brand new despite being used daily for 5 years and moved in a U-Haul twice. And the same can be said for my coffee table, which is pushing 10 years. I almost wish it would wear out because I'd actually like something new! I'd not hesitate at all to buy furniture here again. Or anything else for that matter. Actually, I take that back, I would hesitate to buy Electric Reindeer wine again. It was $3 and disgusting. I recently went into a World Market because I heard rumor that they sold Cafe du Monde beignet mixes for a third of the price on Amazon and it made me remember how in love I am with this store. When I was younger and had more expendable income and time to spare (aka high school), I used to hit up World Market every weekend with my friends. They have EVERYTHING. Everything from adorable gift wrapping supplies to cute bathroom supplies and household items. There's a ton of different kinds of furniture to check out and a whole corner of the store devoted to kitchen utensils, supplies, every sort of little adorable gadget you could ask for. I have had to seriously restrain myself from buying everything in the kitchen set. I WANT IT ALL! In the back is where all the snacks, gourmet food, mixes and drinks are. There's also always a variety of items from different countries for purchase, which are usually organized into different countries of origin. A visit to this location a couple weeks ago brought all those memories back to me, except with added benefit of alcohol!! Since I drink now AND am into wine, I perused their wine section and found some decently priced wine and a pretty large selection. I ended up impulse purchasing a $7 bottle of Tempranillo based on a recommendation, which was okay, but only cost me $7! I could seriously spend hours and hundreds of dollars at this store if I were able. Most things are priced higher than what I would spend on almost anything, but it's somewhat comparable to any other higher-end place (not Target). If you need anything for your house or just have time and.or cash to kill, seriously check this place out. It's amazing. read more

If Crate&Barrel and Trader Joe's had a baby, it would be World Market. Although it reminds me of those two stores, I believe that World Market offers their own unique products. I was navigating the interwebs for the perfect relatively priced end table. Do you know how hard that is?! Yes I can get one from Amazon, but they look tacky. Yes I know Target sells some, but they look cheap. And no I'm not going to spend $300 at West Elm for one! And then I found World Market. A good looking table...check! At a relatively fair price...check! After looking at their catalogue, it probably took me 3 minutes to make up my mind about buying one. But before I went to the store to purchase the table, I made sure to sign up for their World Market Explorer program so I could get a 10% coupon. After printing out the coupon, I was out the door and on my way. Although I only had one goal in mind, it's so easy to get distracted by all the modern furnitures and decorations in there. While I was waiting for an employee to get the table from the back, I unconsciously wandered over to the picnic bench area and before I knew it, it had been 5 minutes! Poor employee who was probably holding my table wondering where I had gone. To anyone looking for interior decoration ideas, World Market is the place for you! "Oh man, pier one, err, i mean world market sure is full of imports." I think those were my first words when i entered the store. It was really all i could think of. I went looking for furniture, a chair, maybe a desk or something. I found all of these things, but i couldnt afford any of them. I ended up leaving with an extension cord that you can plug a light bulb into. It was a futile attempt at living beyond my means. World market is pretty big, think spaghetti warehouse emptied out and filled with wicker shit. The best part of world market is their booze. They have make your own six pack sets just like Whip-in. They have delicious mini kegs, and wine or saki if youre feeling "fancy." I wouldnt put it past myself to go back to world market if i ever felt like i needed paper lanterns or papier mache masks of Ganesh, and when that day comes... Ill be there in a heartbeat. World market is pier one, but for hipsters. Good beer, slightly pricey room filler. Three stars. read more

I come here thinking I need one thing and walk out with a basket full of decor/housewares/crazy foreign food/wine/rugs/etc. I love World Market and avoid it because I know how hard it is to control myself with so many cute items that would be perfect in my house and YEAH! they're on sale! Don't get me started on the European candy and cookies. For me World Market's strong suit are the little things. The interesting items you set on a shelf or hang on the wall, hoping someone will ask "Where did you get that?" And you can ramble on about some amazing, life-changing trip to China/India/Africa where you saved the life of a small child and their family gave you this item as a token of thanks. We just bought a rug here and it was fantastic. We looked around the day before when we were in getting wine and signed up to be a World Market member. The next day we returned after measuring out and deciding the rug must be ours. It was 50% off and we had just received a 10% off coupon as a new World Market member. However, we had forgotten the coupon - but no problem, just pulled it up on the old iphone and they gave us 10% off the 50% off price! WOW what amazing people! We came from a 3 day long trip from California and had a coupon that was about to expire, in the hastle of getting to our new hours, dropping off the Uhaul and unloading the car from the trailer, it was almost time for Cost Plus World Market to close! I called 15 minutes before they were going to close and begged them to let us buy a dining table that was on sale and use the coupon that was about to expire. Elisa answered the phone and was so kind! We came in 2 minutes before they were going to close, chose a table and some chairs. She was so helpful and cheerful! We know how crapy it is when you're about to close and people take their time shopping.... but I have never felt so comfortable! She reassured us that it was ok... they don't work on commission and she was still so kind! Definitely souther hospitality! If I had written this review, oh, say about 5 years ago, I wouldn't be as glowing as I am today. I used to have a love-hate relationship with World Market because EVERYTHING was so dang expensive. Fast forward to today. Now, they have a rewards program, coupons readily available in the newspapers, and clearance items that aren't completely falling apart. Yes, the rest of the store can still be expensive, but they have gotten better in the past few years with making their items more affordable. So in regards to this particular location- I actually prefer coming to this one over the one closer to my neighborhood in Sunset Valley. The layout of this location is done fairly well, with food goods directly in the back, wine in the corner, and dining/kitchen stuff on one side. There are also furniture and decor areas, but I mainly like to go and oogle in the kitchen and dining areas. Surprisingly so, their glassware and kitchen jars/canisters are on the cheap end- with some products starting around $.99. I always know I'll come across a cheap jar or two if I need one. I also enjoy the variety of shapes and sizes of different items such as glassware, bakeware, kitchen tools, etc. Sometimes you can get good deals on item sets. They make great housewarming gifts if you don't know what to get someone. Who wouldn't love a wok set or a box of Indian spices? In addition to out-of-country market items, they also have a good representation of American goods. With Mardi Gras season, they have a variety of hot sauces and candies often found in Louisiana. They also have Texas themed goods from time to time which can be fun to share with out-of-towners. The staff at this location are a friendly bunch. The only downside is that sometimes there can be 1-2 people at the registers at a time and there's always a line- but that's not much of a complaint that should keep you away from the store. read more

Some of the things in there seem to be priced good, others seem to be prices way too high. But I guess that is a little of "one man's trash.. is another man's treasure". After reading the other reviews I just had to defend one of my favorite places for wine purchases! Their wine prices are very competitive with that of even Spec's. And their selection is better than one would even think, they have a good amount of Californians and plenty of Italians and French. They also have a good amount of Australians and New Zealands. They are even starting to branch out to have some Greek, Austrians, and a few others. Their furniture is pretty excellent as well. Excellent quality wood that is not cheaply made. My dining set has lasted me years with no scuffs or scratches (as much as accidents do happen). Plus the nick-knacks at that store are always fun to look at and sometimes buy. And the staff at this store are some of the friendliest in all of Austin stores. Just ask for a manager named Lukas, he can help you with anything at that store. read more
