I want to like this furniture more. Sometimes they have amazingly beautiful things, and sometimes the stuff doesn't suit my taste. But one thing I noticed is that the prices are on the higher side, despite the furniture not being made of solid wood or any long-term quality. I think it's more about the aesthetic here. read more

I came here for a last minute Christmas tree and was delighted to meet Jason and Rosalio who overheard me mention that cut up pine trees make a great smell when burned and they immediately grabbed trunks of trimmed trees and cut them into the perfect size and bagged them for me. I offered to tip them for their services and they politely declined and told me it was their pleasure. It was a small thing but service like this has shown me so much character and joy from these two young men. read more

I brought a beautiful centerpiece in for consignment last march 2025. They told me when it's sold they would send me a check within three months. I called the store in April to see if the item yet they said yes my $75 check would be mailed to me in the next three months. I called the store again in July and asked why I had not received my check. They said it had been mailed to me and probably was in transit right now. I have not received my check and I am tired of bugging them for my $75. My mother is moving to Austin and I would've loved to bring her shopping at your store but no, I will not be using your store and I'm telling everyone I know how bad your service is. It's disappointing that y'all lost a couple thousand dollars in sales over not sending me my $75 in a timely manner. read more

The selection at "Home Consignment" is vast to say the least. Any room in your home you need furnished, they can do it. From wall art to lamps or barstools to bedrooms the gently used items are reasonably priced for all budgets. Located in the Rim at IH 10 West at 1604. They don't work on commission but available to ask or answer your questions. read more

It only takes one bad experience to ruin what so far had been several great ones. If you're purchasing anything that comes with hardware, beware or double check it in-store before purchasing! We purchased a bed (headboard, frame, slats) and were told it came with all of the hardware. When assembling it, we quickly realized that most of the hardware provided didn't work or wasn't even needed (only the black screws pictured worked for securing the slats). Upon reaching out, we were told to return to the store (which is an hour one way) so they could find something that worked. How could they without having the bed to test it with? To this, they suggested we provide them with a screw that fits from the hardware store so they can match that in store. I inquired about a reimbursement on purchasing new hardware as an alternative instead of going all the way back to Home Consignment, and were told that it's generally inexpensive and that they can give it to us for free if we went to the store... We ended up going to a local hardware store but still couldn't find an "out of box" solution that fit. Ended up purchasing a 2ft screw that was the right diameter and had to cut/grind it down to the right length. On top of this, the support legs provided also aren't the correct length either. They don't touch the ground even when extending them to their fullest. Ultimately, we feel cheated. Seems like a "hardware kit" was put together to make it seem like the bed came with everything when it in fact did not. After hours of work, we were able to put the bed together, but all due to us being able to making custom parts. As of this review, I haven't heard back from the store with a solution. At the very least I felt like they should have reimbursed the cost of the hardware (around $20) as a courtesy...it's the gesture that counts. read more

Sadly had a terrible experience (the first time was a good one) a few months ago w no resolution in sight. What I was told they would accept (all in good condition at my home) they didn't accept, after using their movers and paying for that, with the expectation that most or all items would sell at least for some amount (they said they would), didn't get contract or payment in reasonable time, tried getting resolved from manager and owner to no avail and I'm out a lot of money having to pay their movers to bring couch and furniture back- they were missing items and parts and are now unsellable in my garage. I have been shopping and consigning with HCC for years. They always have a store filled to the brim with all kinds of interesting furniture and accent pieces. I have purchased sofas, dining room tables, lot's of beautiful art, and home accents all for very reasonable prices. I am a home stager, so I frequent here often and rarely ever walked out empty-handed. The employees there are friendly and super-helpful. Kristin, especially, is the best! read more

I had a glass table there for 2 months. It was not selling despite it being in new condition. The Arbor Walk location is more focused on selling new furniture brought in by their partner company. My table sat tucked behind the register wall for 2 months and used as a table for decorative items while newer items were immediately placed up front and in full view for the customers to see. This place is definitely different than what it used to be. The furniture has new prices and the used furniture has damages or have an art deco 80s design. The store manager is an expert at ignoring customers. The same customers who help fund her salary. Save your money. Go elsewhere. read more

This store used to be one of my favorite spots in town for finding unique/interesting home decor at great prices. Now, I'm disappointed every time I walk in. Their inventory has tilted away from true consignment items to brand new/wholesale items, which are harder to spot unless you know what you're looking for. I'm sure they get a higher profit off of those items since they don't have to split money with a consigner when they're purchased, but it rubs me the wrong way because it feels like buyers are being tricked into paying full price for something when one would reasonably assume that things in a consignment store are less than that. Also, I don't know who does their intake these days but their inventory has become increasingly hideous over the last 5-6 years. Unless you want to trick out your place like with the worst of what the mid century modern aesthetic has to offer, in which case, this store is right up your alley. And I haven't even touched on the price point yet-- those have also shifted dramatically in the last few years. I got some beautiful decor pieces for less than $100/each in this place's heyday; now you'd struggle to find anything in there that doesn't *start* at $200, and once again, what they offer is absolutely hideous. I don't know who their target market is these days, but it's sure as heck not me. If anything I've described sounds appealing to you, give it a shot. Otherwise, there are plenty of other consignment stores in town that offer unique/interesting inventory that's authentic and reasonably priced for the make/quality. read more

One good thing I can say about this place is that it is very clean and has good merchandise. However, their prices are very high. Over the years that I've been coming in there, I've only bought a few things. Some of the people that work there are nice, but others are not. I purchased a large piece of artwork. The saleswoman asked me if I thought I would need to return it within five days. I said no. After getting the artwork home and seeing that it was far too large for my home, I called and asked about the five day policy. The lady I spoke with said she had no idea what I was talking about but I could sell the piece on consignment and they would keep half the money. What a shady way to do business. read more

Long story short: Exercise caution if using their recommended third party mover. My wife and I have been going to Home Consignment Center for years. Whenever we're looking for new furniture, it's one of our first two stops. Until our most recent purchase, we've always had a good experience. However, last Saturday we purchased almost $2,000 of furniture that needed delivered. We've never had any issues with delivery from other consignment stores, even when using third parties, so we didn't think anything of it. Home Consignment Center told us the third party charged a $75 minimum and $75 per hour thereafter. When the movers arrived at our house, however, they weren't on the same page. They told us we needed to pay $150, even though we're comfortably within the 20-mile delivery radius and they were only dropping off two pieces of furniture (well within the minimum one hour of work). We called the movers -- they were confrontational. They said $150.00 would have been clear based on the rate sheet at Home Consignment Center (which we were never shown). We called Home Consignment Center, and THAT employee was also very confrontational and accusatory, accepting zero responsibility for the mishap and stating that they just tell customers it's a $75 minimum and they're not at all associated with Angel's Moving Service. We found ourselves caught in the middle of two companies, each of which is being aggressive and confrontational towards us when all we're trying to communicate is that we're surprised by the fact we're getting charged twice as much as we were quoted by Home Consignment Center. We can't really blame Angel's Moving Service. They were charging us what they felt they were entitled to based on their arrangement with Home Consignment Center. With furniture on our doorstep and nobody at Home Consignment Center offering assistance or accepting responsibility -- it's not like we couldn't pay. So we were left holding the bag. If rates had been communicated accurately, we would have used a third party mover we've had GREAT experiences with that would have cost us half of what we ended up being forced to pay Angel's Moving Service. We also requested a call back from a manager at Home Consignment Center, but still haven't heard from anyone two days later. After many years of giving Home Consignment Center our patronage, I unfortunately don't believe we'll be returning given how poorly this miscommunication has been handled. If you purchase furniture from them that requires delivery, I'd strongly recommend securing your own third party mover rather than trusting their recommendation for Angel's Moving Service. At the very least, contact Angel's Moving Service directly to verify what they're going to charge before they initiate the pickup from Home Consignment Center and arrive on your doorstep with a different price than you were originally quoted. read more

I went here with my family this past Saturday (7/30). We found a beautiful gray chair that we were interested in. They wouldn't give us the time of day. We asked if this chair was ready to be sold and they RUDELY said they had others that were prioritized and that maybe "maybe" at the end of the day it could be ready. So the message we received was they were not interested in our business or making a sell. That's fine. Consignment stores are a dime a dozen in Austin. I work in customer service and there is a way you can say things. This is the last time we will make a trip that is out of our way to this place of business. read more

I'm currently redecorating my living room so I've been checking out all the furniture stores nearby and today I stumbled across Home Consignment Center. When I first walked in I wasn't sure what to expect but being a consignment shop the store had a little bit of everything and I do mean EVERYTHING! Couches, chairs, mirrors, rugs, a stuffed animal head, dryer, and anything else you can possibly think of for your home & quite a few things you couldn't think of as well :-). I really enjoyed myself while looking at ALL the items in the store and it did carry some really cool furniture items & unique pieces but there were some VERY gaudy items as well. The store is pretty big but FYI it is pretty filled up w/ from ceiling to floor so it is kinda tight as you are looking. For it being a consignment store I have to say many of the items being sold were priced very high so high that I'd rather just buy new furniture versus a used item. Being it was my 1st visit I did ask what the return policy was & they do not do returns.. I get it but w/ the prices so high it's kinda hard to commit to purchasing an item w/ not being able to return it.....eeeeeeeek no returns very scary for me!!!!! read more

Know this if you ever intend on trying to put a "hold" on anything you like: My wife saw a Jewelry cabinet one day, and came home with pictures. She liked it enough to ask me to come back the next day and see for myself. We called that morning to be sure it was still there, which it was. My wife had me ask if they could put a hold on the item for 2 hrs. They said yes they would do it if we were sure we were coming in. We were. Once we got there and saw the unit, while not perfect by any means, we decided to make an offer it. They told her that "since you called and had a hold put on it, we will not reduce the price. You will need to pay full price." This was never disclosed when we called." Had they told us that we would not have put the hold on or perhaps even gone back. This is a very opportunistic approach to business and since the "buyer" is already in the store, much harder to refuse and go home emptyhanded. BBOOOOOO read more

I'm a big discount/thrift store shopper. So as we are furniture hunting right now, it seemed only natural to first hit up some consignment furniture stores. HCC occupies a very large space, and is absolutely crammed with all manner of furniture: chairs, tables, armoires, bookshelves, beds, nightstands, benches... you name it, it's probably here somewhere. And also, jewelry. A bit of an odd mix, but whatever works. We didn't find anything suitable today, but that could change in a month or two -- it just depends on people bring in to sell. The ladies who helped us were a friendly lot, and did not push or pressure us to buy, something we appreciated. A radio station was there today doing an in-store promotion, so we ended up with four free football tickets and coupons for free bottles of Snapple. Is this a great city or what? read more

This store is AMAZING! It's filled with new (at discounted prices), used and UNIQUELY FABULOUS pieces! And, it's an atmosphere that is so stimulating you'll be glazed over in a happy fog by the time you figure out which of the million pieces you want to buy! There is art everywhere, amazing chandeliers, traditional furniture and so many fun finds to meet your personal style, you'll think they have been bringing in pieces with you in mind!?! There is fun music playing, SUCH a great staff (they genuinely seem to be as excited about their store & inventory as you?!), who are never pushy, who are not commission based, and truly seem to make your happiness, their priority. The actual purchase of our furniture was great. The young man that helped us was very courteous and feiendly, and answered all our questions very clearly. Fast forward to today, and we're having a lot of trouble finding help to get it to our residence. I called the store to inquire about return policies, I couldn't FIND MY RECEIPT or I would have read it there. Ms. Peggy andwered my call, and was rude from the start. First off a call came in at the same time as mine, and I was put on hold without any mention beforehand. Second instead of explaining return policies or even mentioning the receipt, Ms. Peggy stumbled for the words to say that I needed to call after 4 so I can talk to her manager. I said okay, because I just wanted the call to end, and was hung up on. My husband called a few minutes later for a more clear explanation, and she was just as rude. In regards to returns she decides to say "Well? You should have read the receipt." When we ask about delivery fees she just asks how far away we are and completely dismisses our initial question until we forcefully answer hers first. Like I said, the actual purchase process was lovely. The young man that helped us was very enjoyable, but Ms. Peggy had ruined the experience. We will not be dealing with her specifically again. I have purchased many items in this store, and it is always a treasure hunt. Sometimes I have found exquisite items at a price far lower than you would expect. Other items are more ordinary, but these are less money than Overstock.com and available immediately. I recently bought my husband a nice ring in the jewelry department. My wife sent me to pick up a console she had just bought the day before. I arrived at the back entrance where you pickup the furniture and I was greeted and ask for my paperwork. To make this story short, the store had mix up the tags with another piece and I basically bought the wrong piece. Ellen the store manager came up to me and quickly fixed the situation and let me keep the console we originally bought at the same price of the smaller unit that we paid for. She apologized for the time it took to figure that out and was very nice the whole time. For that they get a 5 star review. read more

You're going to have to have a particular taste to like this store. I've tried it several times, including over the holidays and could never get my groove on here until I finally figured it out: this store is stuck in 1982 and you need to be too to appreciate it. The furniture - consignment - is big and overdone with lots of extra (cheap) details - think Sears à la 1982! Its heavy and dark and crammed together, which makes it difficult to imagine where it might fit in your place. Those cheap over the top acrylic stands/holders so popular in any '80's Miami Vice episode? They're here. Furniture aside, I can tell you I don't enjoy the help here. On my last visit, about three weeks ago, I spent ~30 min in the store browsing everything I could see moving chairs to get a view, sitting down, etc. In several cases sales persons stood less than five feet from me chatting to each other. And no one helped me. Or said hi. Or made eye contact. Is it the gold chains I'm wearing? This matches my previous experience here: without the right look (on you as a customer) or appreciation for big out of date furniture, you are not going to enjoy this store. read more

We like this consignment store quite a bit for a number of reasons. First, it is huge..there is a lot of very different inventory. Second, the inventory changes quickly...so it feels like a new store from week to week. Third, they do a good job merchandising the items to give you ideas of how things could look in a room setting. And finally their sales staff is constantly roving about so if you need help they are there...but there is absolutely no high pressure sales like a typical furniture store... Either I'm too picky, or this place has spiraled into a gravity well for bad furniture. After reading the Yelp reviews I thought I would check this out. Good furniture, on consignment, sounds like what I'm looking for. What I found was a Big Lots for furniture. There are quality furniture consignment stores around Austin, but this was just junk. Lots of junk, but still junk. I saw six sets of the same laminate bedroom set. (Laminate = wood pulp covered in a sticker that looks like wood grain) A previous reviewer had talked about the management being discriminating about what they took in to sell, but I don't think that is the case any more. Pretty cool place. A lot of stuff and most of it is from model homes, as was explained by the first reviewer. This means that the furniture here--as a general rule-- is: - luxurious enough to look expensive without having cost the original builder/stager a fortune - safe color palettes (beige, black, brown, gold, white) - far less expensive than if you purchased new stuff I actually found more casegoods that were on the unique side...a pair of silver dressers that screamed Hollywood glam that I must've spent 20 minutes in front of trying to think of a client who might want them because I thought they were too cool...a bedroom set that I thought was very stylish and masculine (however I would never use all the pieces of the set in one room)...and a ceramic Asian-inspired stool (black) that looked straight out of the West Elm catalog for $69. They seem to have good service too...I called a day after a recent visit to buy 2 chairs for a client and discovered they'd already been sold...two days later, the saleswoman on the phone called me back to say she'd received more chairs that might fit the style I was looking for. I love that! It's like having a free design assistant. read more

Do you like spending a ridiculous amount of money on new or used furniture? If your answer is "YES!" with the exclamation point intact, then this place is for you! It had the feel of a good Salvation Army to me with the higher quality of used furniture... unfortunately, the prices were about 7 -10x higher than what I would ever expect to pay for some of this stuff. A wicker outdoor furniture set for instance $1999... which... let me tell you... if a wicker outdoor furniture set that might be used is that expensive, there had better be flat screen tv's and dolby surround sound embedded in it... give me a break. They even had a small used organ... exactly like one I have seen at a Salvation Army for $49 for $799... who's buying that?!?!?! No one. Great concept... ridiculous prices... thumbs way down. read more
