I've been a donut lover since I can remember and when I recently tried this place for the first (and last) time the other day, I had no idea how badly it would end. I went in to look for an apple fritter, which they had 1 left, and also decided, based on the look of it, to try a few cinnamon rolls. Brought them home, and my wife and I had one donut each - we both had stomach problems a few hours later. She knew I had saved a cinnamon roll for the next day and warned me that it may give me the same reaction. Well I ate it anyway, in the morning, and had a bout of diarrhea later that afternoon. I've been eating donuts on and off from Stan's and Donut Wheel, among a few others in the area for years since moving to the south bay and never have I had such a violent reaction to a few donuts. The donuts here are so good. I shared a dozen donut holes for $1.50 with my friend and they were soft, well flavored, not too sweet. The lady was kind of expressionless but kept saying thank you (made me smile). The place is really cute-- booths with pink chairs, cream tables, retro style menu, paintings on the walls. Merp. It's whatever. Came before 10 and they had like no donuts left. They only make one batch in the morning, I guess. I got a chocolate glazed donut. The glaze was not chocolatey at all, and the donut itself felt slightly stale and dry. The glaze they use...it's either too sugary or they use too much of it, because the buttermilk donut I had was almost inedible. I don't understand why people like these donuts. I came around 2 PM, one hour before closing and found they had a really small selection of donuts left. I ordered a French cruller and a maple glaze yeast donut, and the total was only $1.40. Looks like all donuts are just $0.70. I didn't like the French cruller very much because it tasted a little doughy. Usually French crullers are lighter. Brought these into the office, and people snatched them up. I purchased a dozen and a half of donuts, and with the last one being jelly filled, paid $11.85. I don't get how the math for that works, considering $0.70 is for a regular donut and $1.10 is for a nicer donut (jelly or bar donut), and $7.00 is for a dozen. But they threw in a bunch of free donut holes, and they let me use my credit card because my purchase was over $5. They have delicious looking apple fritters for $1.35 as well. read more

Very rude cashier. I ordered a coffee and it tasted very stale, like it has been there since 5 am. There were multiple coffee thermoses with different flavors on the table. I wanted to dump out the nasty coffee and replace it with a fresher, newer made one, cashier said "if you don't like it don't drink it" and that I would have to pay for another one. Such a good spot for Sandwiches (breakfast or lunch). Me and all of my kids have our favorites and always get quick service and good sandwiches for a reasonable price. It breaks my heart to write this review, I have been going there for years. The management changed to a young couple recently but I didn't see them there today. I have never seen the 2 employees before today but THEY OVER CHARGED ME. Please pay attention! I got 7 donuts, I saw her charge $6 for the 6 donuts then I saw her charge $2 (which I had assumed was for the apple fritter) but then I saw her charge $1.75 for the fritter (the fritter price is on the board is $1.75) bringing the total to $9.75 for 7 donuts. She didn't give me a receipt and I didn't hold up the line with an explanation for the over charge, I figured that can be the last tip they ever get from me. I will miss you Maple Leaf, I appreciate all the memories of kindness and great service over the years but you have now lost my trust and I found this experience insulting. Well, the lines have disappeared and the doughnuts are not selling out by 10 am. Sure enough, the ownership has changed. The doughnuts and the croissants are cold and lifeless. The croissants are greasy and dense. I also feel it's just not as clean as it used to be. While the new owners seem nice, I do hope they do themselves a favor and ask the previous owners for advice. read more

I've been coming here for long time but since COVID it's been a while . I came in yesterday and one of the ladies had gloves on and when I made my purchase she only took one glove off and touched the money with both hands she then washed her hands with the same glove on and one off only for like maybe 6 seconds Then proceeded to touch my donuts when I told her she Should have just taken both gloves off and washed her hands and put new gloves on she got other staff members involved and got an attitude when I started denying that what she was doing was correct. I had to tell them to just listen and pay attention to what u are really doing . U cannot wear the same gloves all day and at the same time touch money I don't care how expensive gloves are this is my life I don't want to catch Covid. This is not good protocol for sanitization skills so I wondered if this happened in front of my eyes then what goes on when they don't have people around . After I ate my sandwich and a doughnut that she filled I started feeling a little sick to my stomach maybe 1 hour later . Great donut place. I realize, yes, they're just deep fried dough coated in some sugar... but these are really the best donuts in the area. Once, Manley's Donuts held that title for our family, but no more! These are fresh and tasty without tasting heavy or oily. I try not to eat much other fried foods, but I really have a weakness for donuts. And this place always provides "quality" donuts with friendly service. Came in at 4am for an early early donut run. Maybe I got a bad batch, but most of the donuts (6 out of 8) that I had ordered were fried with really old oil. I found the taste off-putting, but I passed them over to some others who didn't make any comments. I suppose those donuts weren't stale at least.
