I have been a regular of Maple Leaf Donuts at 1110 Saratoga Ave, San Jose, CA 95129 for many years. This is part of a local chain but I come to this one primarily as the main person I see is Jenny. She is ALWAYS friendly, polite and helpful. Over the years, this store has changed a lot. They now have sandwiches and special drinks. Jenny recommended to me on a past visit that I get a sandwich, as they were very good. Today I had the Deluxe Bagel which has egg, cream cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, and advocato. Absolutely delicious as it was made with the freshest ingredients and cracked eggs. The donets and apple fritters are always fresh and if you get there early enough, they will still be warm as they are made in house. Although the shop is old, it is kept clean and well maintained. It is primarily a take out but there are a few bench tables inside. The staff is very welcoming and the donuts and sandwiches are outstanding! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this donut shop!

at this point the Maple Leaf doughnut at Maple Leaf Plaza is just showing off

Best doughnuts ever with free friendly service every time, their case is filled with best in show winners of all types, bear claws, old fashions, rainbow sprinkles, chocolate peanut... you get the picture

My go to local donut spot. Best mom pop tasting donuts and always fresh. They open up really early so you can easily get em in the morning Nice staff and plenty of seating options. Great coffee selection and everything reasonably priced :) Downside: no longer do they add some donut holes when you Buy a dozen. This seemed to happen after new management took over :/

Donuts are my Kryptonite. Friendly, neighborhood shop with standard selections like the glazed raised, maple bar, apple fritters, and crullers. I can vouch for the glazed raised... it was fresh, not greasy, light and fluffy. The coffee selection was solid-- I opted for the Kona which was a perfect finish to my delicious treat! Happy day :) 10/10 would hit that again

Number 11. Sausage Bacon and Egg Sandwich, delicious!!

The #11 sandwich was DELICIOUS!! I also got an old fashioned donut with a little extra holes... thank you!! The lady there was super sweet and quick with the service. The shop was quiet and spacious, a very traditional mom and pop donut shop. I'll be coming back to try all the other foods :)

It clearly says the extra credit card charge for payments under $5.00.

Seen this place many times since i have to drive by here. Its a older place with no upgrade but the food price and quality is great. Nice people. They even have a sign for credit card charge. Honest people. Will come

Five stars for the owners. Nice and hardworking folks. Doughnuts are good too, not too much dough. But what stands out are the kind owners.

There was a good amount of premade custard filled donut holes on display. Despite them being prefilled and on display, the donut holes were still crispy and not soggy! I was delighted from the first bite. The prefilled donut holes are different from the regular ones. They are glazed and more similar to a cream puff which makes them super tasty. I love the irregular shapes of each of them and how big they were. The cream puff texture is what makes this custard filled donut holes not feel heavy when you eat them. Very yummy and addicting. The service was okay. I was greeted by both ladies at the counter and the worker who had assisted me seemed very attentive. I got a dozen cream filled donut holes which were 8.99. I spoke directly with the owner, Cassey, explained the situation, and asked why no one contacted me before giving away something I had already paid for. At some point, she basically just stopped responding to me on the phone. All of this over a $30 order that probably could've been resolved with the tiniest bit of customer service. Instead, I'm now annoyed enough to be writing a catty Yelp review and hoping for Peter Bakery's demise lol -- Edit: just to reiterate here, cause I hate being called a liar. I came the following day and I was told the cake was already donated. My call today was to escalate the item I paid for but was given away. Customers usually come in, grab what they need, pay, and head out, which keeps things moving smoothly. One of the best things about this bakery is the incredible variety of pastries and breads. Don't skip the refrigerated section either! They carry fruit sandwiches, tuna sandwiches, fried bread, donuts, somen noodles in a cup, and other delicious grab-and-go items. They also offer rice balls and drinks that can be ordered at the register. If you're in the area, definitely stop by and give them a try. Small businesses like this deserve our support!

Clover Bakery & Cafe is a small Japanese-style bakery and café that feels like the kind of…read moreneighborhood spot you randomly discover and keep coming back to. We walked into a cozy, compact space with shelves filled with freshly baked breads, pastries, and prepared foods, all arranged in a way that makes you want to browse slowly even though the shop is small. The atmosphere has that simple, welcoming feel reminiscent of the small bakeries you find throughout Japan, focusing more on quality and variety than on a large café setup. Seating is limited, so it is better suited for grabbing something to go rather than spending a long time inside. The biggest draw here is the combination of Japanese baked goods and savory items. The bakery selection offers a great mix of sweet and savory options, with classics like melon pan standing out for its crisp sugary topping and soft interior that stays light without being dry. The curry bread and croquette bread are also popular choices, both feeling comforting and freshly made rather than overly sweet or greasy. The bakery items are reasonably priced, which makes it easy to pick up multiple things without feeling like you are spending too much, and the variety means there is always something new to try. The onigiri selection is what really makes Clover stand out compared to a typical bakery. They offer a variety of rice balls with fillings like spicy tuna, tuna mayo, and unagi, making it a great option for a quick breakfast or light meal. The rice is well balanced and the fillings give each onigiri a different personality. The spicy tuna has a nice kick that comes through without overpowering the rice, while the unagi adds a sweeter, more savory flavor that works especially well with the slightly salty rice. The onigiri are a practical, satisfying choice for anyone looking for something more substantial than a pastry. Beyond the baked goods and onigiri, Clover also has drinks, sandwiches, and desserts including cakes and other pastries. The strawberry cake is a nice lighter dessert option, and the overall menu gives plenty of reasons to visit whether you are looking for breakfast, a snack, or something to bring home. The offerings feel thoughtfully selected, with enough variety to cover different cravings without making the menu feel scattered. Service is friendly and efficient, and the small size of the shop adds to the charm. Since it has become a popular local spot, some items can sell out during busy hours, so arriving earlier gives you the best selection. Parking can also be a little challenging during peak times, but the quick grab-and-go style makes the visit easy to manage. Clover Bakery & Cafe is a great stop for anyone who enjoys Japanese bakeries. The combination of fresh breads, affordable prices, and unique savory options like onigiri makes it feel different from a standard bakery. It is the type of place where it is worth picking up a few items and trying a mix of everything, leaving you with the sense that you have found a little neighborhood gem that delivers on both quality and variety.
