I was up super early this morning and wanted a Vietnamese iced coffee, but my regular haunts weren't open yet. This Manley's location, which I'd never tried before, was the only place open that was fairly close to home, so I ordered an iced coffee and bagel and lox sandwich via delivery. Unfortunately, the Vietnamese iced coffee was terrible. It was strong and bitter and somehow too sweet and milky at the same time. I have been to every local man leaves, and this is by far the best location. Their donuts are the freshest. They are always smiling and friendly. And they always have the best selection. The fresh squeezed orange juice is fantastic. They make great breakfast sandwich sandwiches on bagels and croissants. They also have killer Vietnamese coffee that you can get blended. By far, my #1 favorite donut shop in San Jose. Yes I said it! Their assortment of donuts is truly the best, and even when they run out of my favorites (maple bars!!!), they have so many other delicious options to choose from. I want to add though that their donuts and croissants AND breakfast sandwiches are all delicious. Their donuts are always fresh / never stale, even as it gets later in the early afternoon, and their food selection is simply delicious. Oh! And I do appreciate their coffee and drink selection too! Extremely Disappointing Experience & Unprofessional Staff I am incredibly disappointed with my recent experience at Manley's at Bascom, especially after being a loyal customer since my kids were little. Two weeks prior to an event, I pre-ordered 5 dozen donut holes ($17.50 value) and paid for them. When I arrived on the pick-up day with my receipt, cashier Kim told me my order wasn't there and suggested I had "probably already picked them up." Despite showing her the receipt, she dismissed my claim. She then said she would check the cameras to see if I was, in fact the one that came that day, but then claimed it was "too late" and that "no one pre-orders 2 weeks in advance." This was incredibly frustrating as I had proof of payment. When I simply asked for a refund of my $17.50 so I could get donuts elsewhere for my event, she flat-out refused. My husband and I returned the next day, receipt in hand, and were met with continued argument and refusal to acknowledge the error or issue a refund. The way Kim treated me felt like I was being accused of lying about picking up my order, which is unacceptable customer service. It's truly shocking to receive such poor service and be denied a refund for an item I paid for but never received, especially after years of patronage, and all over $17.50. This experience was incredibly disappointing. I never got a chance to talk with the owners. I told Kim and the other cashier that I would be shocked if they thought this is how you treat a loyal customer. I am hoping the owners read this and understand how disappointing this was as I used to like coming to their shop. read more

I've seen this shop multiple times, and the past Sunday, I decided to stop by! Immediately- you can smell the freshly baked donuts and you're greeted warmly by the sweet staff here. The menu is endless with drink and non-donut options - but the donuts take center stage! The choices of donuts were window to window - I love sprinkled donuts the most, but I just HAD to try their glazed donut holes because they looked so yummy. What I loved about this location is that even in near afternoon they were well stocked with flavors and bringing out more donuts too! Sunday morning donut runs can be exciting but also difficult, especially if you have a favorite donut that's also very popular. Thankfully, I managed to get my vanilla sprinkled donut and my boyfriend got his chocolate donut - what a success! Everyone here is so friendly, and when we paid for our donuts - I noticed a line began forming behind us. I love this place! This is definitely a hole in the wall donut shop! I was actually passing by and I haven't had a donut in quite some time in the morning for breakfast. Ended up coming here and I couldn't find the place at first then I realized it's on its own little section aside from the shopping area its next to. Totally separate parking lot. So I check it out and saw some croissant sandwich pictures on the outside and thought that actually sounded really good so I got that instead. They have a pretty good selection in donuts and I ended up getting a old fashioned donut which tasted delicious! Got the maple and that tasted awesome because it wasn't so sweet and it wasn't over glazed like most places that I've been to. They got donut holes as usual and those are my favorite. Delicious!!! That's it! Then I got a croissant sandwich which was pretty good and the price was inexpensive. It's pretty basic but it's still pretty good! NO apokogies.. just a big difference in price as we pay for lack of readiness to get others. This place is right around the corner from my house so it's a yummy splurge from time to time and a great place to grab some donuts for work. Every time I go in they are super friendly and helpful too. The whole family is in there working hard and they are all just very nice people. I am pretty basic in my choice for a donut. I like Chocolate Old fFashioned donuts and they always have good ones. The outer ring has that perfect crunch and the center of the donut is softer. They are always really fresh tasting too. I typically get that and a Cafe Latte and I am perfectly happy. My sister did clue me into the fact that they will fill the donut holes with either cream or jelly if you ask. Although both are good I prefer the jelly filled ones. It's a perfect little donut bite with a small amount of jelly in the middle. But they are addicting so it's easy to eat more than you plan on. Every time I take them into work they are the first things to disappear. One of my Foreman told me he can't seem to stop himself when I bring them in. He says every time he walks by the box he will grab one and the next thing he knows he has eaten five or six. Definitely give those a try. read more

We've been eating here for years. But in the last eighteen months or so, the workers have never given us our correct orders. We've never received the donuts we asked for (how that happens is a mystery), or sandwiches have been given to the wrong customers. The donuts and sandwiches are really good. I was partial to their croissants and all-in-one bagel sandwiches, but it's become a crap shoot as to what you'll actually get. The last time I went in was the last, early 2021, where our sandwiches were given to the person behind us, who had a specific list of her own things to order. Our sandwiches were not on her list, and she sent them back saying she wanted something else on them to match her order. It never, ever occurred to the guy behind the counter he got the order mixed up. I paid for the donuts, but I demanded a refund for the sandwiches. They didn't even offer to make me a new set of sandwiches. The owner and the other guy I could tell were exhausted and frustrated. I know that hurts a small business, but it's inexcusable for me to give them free money and say, oh, that's ok. Still, when I got home, they were the wrong donuts. I do not think they are corrupt, or crooked, and I do not intend to imply this at all, otherwise they wouldn't have survived all these 15+ years I've been going there. I think they just need better customer service management/organization refreshers. I really like the owners of the shop. I've chatted at length with them about lots of things, watched their kids grow up, and I admired how hard they work at their business because, well, it's friggin hard. But in the end, a business also has to close the deal with near-flawless customer service and meet basic customer expectations, one of which, is that the customer gets what they pay for. read more

The staff was super friendly and the donuts were interesting...they tasted different than your average (and bland) neighborhood donut shop, which are everywhere in San Jose. But different wasn't necessarily better. I need to go again. Using the maple bar, cinnamon roll, and jelly filled as my guide, all 3 had a different texture in both the dough and icing. Hidden gem that can easily be missed when driving by. Their sandwiches are delicious, especially the tuna on a croissant. The bango bash (banana and mango) smoothie is also a household favorite.
