Oooh Can- nadaaaa! You know the anthem. Well now get to know the diner. Hey y'all. What's the haps? It's a sunny Sunday in the big D. North Dallas corridor is jumping daily, and today is no exception. So brunch spots are open for business. In the mood for maple syrup, (autocorrect was going for syphilis, wtf? Never a mood for that, not on a waffle or otherwise) man that jacked my flow up. Oh yes, syrup. Hard to focus now. Stop laughing, I'm still awaiting my food with that now in my head. Over ordered but everything was good! The Bloody Caesar reminded me of Canada. The waffles were crispy and airy. I could have done without the pierogies because it was a bit bland but everything else had great flavor. The service was good and our server was tentative. read more

We found this diner with 3000 plus reviews while we were visiting Dallas, and I had to try it. Even on a Tuesday for lunch there was still a wait time. Although you can put down your name and they will text you when ready. We waited about 15 minutes. They won't seat you until all your party is there. Our waitress was very nice. I checked in for the free cookie and she gave me two. Sadly, the raspberry lemon cookie, might have been the best part of the meal. I ordered my husband the classic poutine and I got the meatloaf or beef in a bonnet. The poutine was way too rich for my taste. Fries tasted soggy in the gravy and salty. I liked the meat in a bonnet but it was filled to the brim with mashed potatoes. Again, extremely heavy fare---I couldn't finish. The temperature for both were perfect. My kids got the pancake breakfast and a waffle on the side. I was kind of shocked the waffle alone was $9. An interesting experience, but the food was just too heavy for me. Wait times are ridiculous. What's the point of waiting an hour for diner food? They should improve wait times or at least have coffee or water available. Water would be appreciated when you are forced to wait outside in 90+ degree heat in Dallas. read more

We absolutely loved this place. Long wait but we did the join waitlist option from Yelp as we drove so we only waited 10-15min after checking in with the host stand. Our server was on point, so fantastic! The blueberry cream cheese scone is amazing, we dug in too fast to get a pic. This place was well worth the wait. I could only eat about a quarter of my meal but I'm taking it home for dinner. read more

Food was ok. Cabbage rolls reminded us of dog food. A tea mug arrived with lipstick and grease marks, poutine arrived cold, wait for food was excessive and to be seated, even more so (even on the waitlist and after reaching #1, we had waited another 15 minutes resulting in an 1.45 minute wait!). Waitress and hosts were super professional and sweet. We've lived in Dallas for 3 years and finally decided to try this place as we also have enjoyed our travels to different parts of Canada (owner is Canadian) but for me, it was not worth returning. Pot roast poutine. Pot roast poutine. Pot roast poutine. Damn, it didn't appear. I was hoping that by repeating it thrice a large dish of their delicious pot roast poutine would suddenly appear. Look, I am not an expert on poutine. The closest I have been to Canada is the Canadian steakhouse at Disney and I have a couple of part-time Canadian neighbors. I am sure there are plenty of people on Yelp who are experts on all things Canadian because they did an Ancestry test that said they are .089% Canadian. But I digress. The pot roast poutine is excellent. I am a dude from New Orleans. In New Orleans, we have french fries with cheese and roast beef gravy. It is the national dish of Louisiana. Maybe that is stretching it but I love it. The pot roast poutine here is nearly that good. Trust me on this. So now that I have raved about the poutine, what about everything else? Well, I had a Reuben that was good but nowhere near as good as the poutine. They do have a massive chicken sandwich that looked good too. Will you have to wait? Probably. Is it worth it? If you get the poutine it is. Parking is easy and service is great. For a pro tip, check the Yelp app for the waitlist. You can save yourself some waiting time that way. read more

We went to Maple Leaf Diner for a late lunch with my daughter and granddaughter. We used the Yelp waitlist which is highly recommended. During peak hours, it can be a two hour wait! We started out with a Bloody Cesar for my husband and a Canadian Whiskey Sour for me. He said it was a refreshing change from a Bloody Mary. The Whiskey Sour was refreshing with a little sweet. Then we had the Pierogies and Southern Poutine to start out with. Both were delightful. The pierogies were very tasty, with perfectly cooked bacon & onions. I'm not a big gravy fan so I didn't think I'd like the poutine. I'm so glad I tried it because it was delicious! My daughter had the bacon burger which was perfectly cooked to order and yummy. Even my granddaughter's chicken strips and fries were great! I had the stuffed cabbage and my husband had the English Pot roast in a Bonnet. The fries as my side were fresh and delicious. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and the cabbage rolls were great. My husband enjoyed his pot roast as well. Our service was great and oh yeah, the coffee was exceptional as well. I went to lunch here one weekday with coworkers. It is kind of hidden in the back of a shopping center. I love breakfast so I got the Chicken, Bacon & Waffles $16.99. The chicken was really good, had flavorful seasoning you could actually taste in the breading. The bacon was just okay, not as crispy as I would like. The waffle itself was good too, had a nice crunchy exterior on the edges while still being soft and fluffy inside. I enjoyed the cream puff on top too. It has whipped cream and a few sparingly strawberries on it. I did not use much of the maple syrup as it was quite sweet already. If they included a gravy I think this would have put the whole thing over the top. The service was okay, it was a little slow to get the checks but other than that good throughout. I think it is pretty good but for the price, a little off on value but I would go back. read more

This is one of the only restaurants I have been back to two days in a row!! And we always leave happy. Maple Leaf is seriously my happy place. It is always hopping BUT there is a waitlist! Get on it before you go, especially if it is the weekend! The prices are quite reasonable too. Breakfast is their strength, that's what everyone orders here. Recommended: CANADIAN CLASSIC POUTINE. The online reservation system is life-saving as you can start the wait from home and leave when you're about to get seated. On weekends, the wait can easily be over 1.5 hours. Seated promptly when we arrived. Our server was extremely attentive given how busy it was. Food came out quickly. Definitely order the chicken, bacon and waffles - the chicken was kind of dry but it is a unique dish. The eggs benedict was standard: nothing special but what else do you expect with breakfast food. I give this place 5 stars overall because of their friendly service, ability to handle a lot of customers well, and good food. Highly recommend. read more

Came in for brunch. Just make sure you get on the waitlist because on the weekend especially it will be quite a bit of a wait. It was worth it though. The food was delicious and came out quick. We had gone on a weekend, definitely should get on the waitlist ahead of time or you'll be facing an hour plus wait. Restaurant was packed with plenty of people and the smells of food were amazing. Even though it was busy on a Sunday during brunch the service was rather quick and attentive. There is a lot on the menu that is for sure. If you're visiting the area I'd recommend going outside your comfort zone and try something new. I got the country sausage waffle and a half poutine shared with my wife. This was hands down the best breakfast I've had in a while at a restaurant. The portion size was definitely worth the price and flavourful to boot. read more

Stop what you're doing and get down to Maple Leaf diner asap! Hands down the best Bacon chicken and waffles I've ever had. The dish was prepared mile high and full of bacon. They even added two cream puffs on top with extra love. The staff made me feel right at home and even told me their favorite options as well the background story of the establishment. This hole in the wall makes you feel like you're back on the farm eating fresh food prepared with care. The restaurant is clean, inviting and has tables big enough for the entire family. We're bringing our slice of Canada to Dallas! Owner Michael Delaurier (an experienced restauranteur from Windsor, Ontario Canada) couldn't find food in his wife's Dallas hometown that felt like home hence he opened Maple Leaf Diner and brings a little slice of Canada to Dallas. Mike serves up traditional homemade diner delights like pot roast, burgers, chicken fried chicken and made-from-scratch pies as well as his homemade Canadian favourites like Poutine (fresh cut french fries topped with cheese curds and smothered in homemade gravy), PeaMeal Bacon (the REAL Canadian Bacon), Cabbage Rolls, Poutine, and Butter Tarts.

Mike Delaurier, an experienced restauranteur native to Windsor, Ontario Canada, opened Maple Leaf Diner in 2015 because he couldn't find food in Dallas that felt like home. Mike is a third-generation restauranteur trained to cook in the kitchens of his prominent Southern Ontario food family.

My wife and I got word of this 2 nights after they opened. We've since been back 6 times, and will continue to do so. I'll cut to the chase: If you work in restaurants and know the biz, these guys need your help. I don't think they expected this volume of business, and they're SEVERELY understaffed. It's been a lifetime since I worked a restaurant, front or back of house, and although I now have a solid career in IT, I am tempted to throw on an apron and hell, just bus tables if that's what they need. I love this place that much. If you go on a weekend, expect a wait. They're serving amazing food at low prices, and word has already gotten out - the last time we went for a Sunday breakfast, the place was packed to the gills, and the wait was about 40 minutes. In that time, I could tell that the front of house staff were "in the weeds," due to too many tables to take care of. Even with the manager hustling his butt to help. All of that said, once you're seated, expect some fantastic grub. The first night we went, they were still doing a BBQ Ribs platter with shrimp that blew my socks off. The ribs were succulent, in a blueberry maple BBQ sauce, and finding out they retired this dish disappointed me sorely. Fortunately, they have lots of other fantastic food. 6 visits, and we've been working our way through the menu. EVERYTHING is fantastic. All plates are a fulfilling amount of food, and delicious at that. The Poutine is a must-try, but any appetizers you order here, you should plan on splitting with at least one more person. The fried mushrooms are the best I've ever had. The Corn Dip is another one I would recommend highly, and the onion rings, my god, the onion rings are food of the gods. For entrees, anything fried is their strongest point. I have recommended that several of our first-time dining partners at this place order the Flagship Chicken Sandwich, or the Pizza Burger. For breakfast, the Chicken & Waffles plate is a feast, and the Eggs Benedict is some of the best I've had in my entire life - with real back bacon! Not "Canadian Bacon" (ham)! The Fish & Chips is a great entree, and I haven't had a burger here that I didn't love. I'd say leave room for dessert, but it's unlikely that you will - just get a slice of pie to go! All in all, at affordable prices, this restaurant serves up outstanding food, but needs a little more staffing. Hopefully, that'll get fixed, because I plan on returning to this restaurant often. read more

Walking up, the host greeted us with a smile so warm, I half expected to see a moose waving at me next. It was like being teleported straight to Canada, minus the long flight and the snow. We were seated quicker than you can say "Eh," in a spot that felt just right amidst the bustling ambiance of fellow food adventurers. Now, let me talk about our waiter - a true gem, shining brighter than the Northern Lights. The place was buzzing like a hive in spring, but he treated us like we were the Queen and King of Canuck. With a grin and a grace, he dished out recommendations, and my boyfriend, bless his adventurous soul, dove right into one of them and emerged victorious and satisfied. As for me? I just happened across Maple Leaf Diner last month and it was fantastic! I found a reason to go back 2 more times in December as well! Lot of typical dishes mainly from Canada, a good sample of their eating habits. Very tasty and not to expensive. Good portions. e enjoyed every minute of our meal. The staff is super friendly, the owner stopped by to check on us and make sure we were happy, and everything was perfect. I decided to indulge instead with their Salmon Benedict, which is served with two latkes and a bowl of fruit. The salmon was delicious, tender and melted in my mouth like butter. Served on crispy toasted English muffins, with perfectly poached eggs, and a sinful amount of decadent hollandaise sauce. The latkes (basically hash brown pancakes, for the uninitiated) were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served with sour cream. Rounded out with their fresh, hot coffee, it was a great meal. Consistency of the pancake itself was wonderful texture-not gummy. The crazy chicken/waffle combo was a sight to behold. The pot roast was melt-in-your mouth excellent. Buffalo chicken with crisp onion rings: magical. And the poutine was both authentic and surprisingly not greasy at all. We will return!
