A local favorite for a casual brunch or lunch, especially on a Sunday afternoon. Luckys has a relaxed feel to it with a 50s diner theme. Staff is also very attentive and friendly anytime we visit. I was craving something hearty so compromised on a chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes as well as the goat cheese and spinach salad. The meal was great, paired with fresh squeezed orange juice, but just wish the chicken fried steak had a little more flavor. The salad was great and everything else I've tried from here has been amazing, especially from the breakfast menu. I came in for breakfast--and stayed long enough to be fully convinced that if the lunch is anything like their 24-hour breakfast, it's just as good. Since moving to the neighborhood I've passed my Lucky's so many times and made a note to stop in. So while out for a walk, my partner and I decided to check out it. We arrived around 12:30 and there were a few groups waiting. We put our name on the list and were called about 15 mins later. It's a cool, neighborhood diner with eclectic led lights and tidbits of patronage and community and throughout. The lady who greeted us was nice and lead us to a booth where our waiter; a friendly, upbeat older gentleman with a cool gray mustache. He offered us water, coffee and mimosas while we looked over the menu. My partner ordered coffee and of course a carafe of mimosa for me (well us lol). You also get a complimentary basket of assorted bread while you wait. We both ordered traditional breakfasts: mine with bacon and potatoes. Hers with patty sausage and cheese grits. What a cool place! Such a fun little diner! They have all day breakfast so I got the chicken and waffles and an OJ and my friend got the breakfast tacos! All was delicious! They also give you complimentary little biscuits for the table which are delicious! The food also comes out so fast and the portions are huge (forgot to take a picture)! We started coming here 3-4 years ago on Christmas Eve with a daughter whose marriage had recently fallen apart. I'm pretty happy with the food. I make a pretty mean chicken fried chicken myself and I wish I could copy their batter. We had a ton of food, but what made the trip really successful was the light and sparkle of the girl who took care of us. I really wish I had gotten her name, but she was lovely and obviously very kind. I don't normally write reviews because the waitress is beautiful, but I guess there's always a first time. Love that it's farm-to-table and they use local components and companies for their eggs, breads, etc. I ordered the egg white omelette, which was a bit spicy (but I didn't mind it), oatmeal (which was good), and the multigrain toast (which was also good). This is a wonderful place. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food and ambiance of the 1950's diner era. Ruby was our server and she was the best server we have ever had in all of DFW. She and the restaurant Manager brought our little girl an amazing hot fudge sundae after we finished dinner and sang her Happy Birthday. They did that all on their own and we were so surprised. Today, this type of classy, thoughtful service Is very rare. The attention to detail in how well they take care of their customers is flawless. We will be back many more times. Came to Lucky's for brunch with some friends! It was soooo packed, we waited about 25 minutes to be seated which was great. The atmosphere was definitely high energy and I enjoyed it. The basket of warm bread that they bring for the table was soooo good! The homemade honey was amazing on my biscuit. I was shocked that they didn't have homemade jam/jelly, since they really promote local entities for their provisions. I also got the pineapple mimosa carafe, no complaints there. For my meal, I got the Enchiladas & egg entree. I don't know who thought of this combination but they deserve an award! It was soooooo delicious.
