Solid brunch spot if you're in uptown area and curious on trying it. The yelp waitlist for this area is very inaccurate. It said about 30-45 mins for a wait time around 10am on a Saturday. 1.5 hours later and we were still on it and we assumed it was busy. After calling the serve just said to come on over. It appeared that they sit patrons walk ins faster than people on the waitlist. However we got a cinnamon snail ($7) and it was somewhat flat, lacked flavor, and good for 2 -4 bites. We got the monte cristo ($16)which was very solid and had lots of flavor. The farmers market ($14.50) was huge in portion but lacked flavor or seasoning. Our waiter did forget our hashbrowns that they immediately brought out in a few mins- but this place looks disorganized and somewhat chaotic. There's better brunch spots in uptown- I wouldn't recommend this place immediately as the bar section was offering seasonal cocktails for about $17 each. At that point I'd go across to Bowen house for a matching price but higher quality. read more

I had ordered from this place for delivery, but I always wanted to come into the restaurant. My nephew came to help me out with some planting projects and I told him I would take them to breakfast. He said he wanted a real breakfast breakfast not hippie toast with avocados on it so I told him let's come to dream Café. First off you could use the Yelp app to make a reservation or get on the waitlist which is fabulous. We had wanted to go after church today and I saw that there was actually no weight happening so this was a double bonus. The restaurant will validate your parking in the adjacent parking garage for up to two hours for free seeing that there was no waitlist meant that I wouldn't be spending part of that time waiting to get seated. We were promptly greeted by several people. It was great coffee came out right away as did our popovers that's what their iconic here for. My Nephew ordered chicken and waffles. The chicken was plenty full and juicy, and the waffles were nice and thick they were served with real maple syrup. I got this chicken fried steak breakfast with eggs on the side and there was also a biscuit which my nephew took and hashbrowns. I have half of my breakfast for a meal tomorrow. The place was great. The prices were great and the food was delicious. If you're coming over here put into your GPS dream Café parking and it will take you right to the appropriate parking garage. Too simple. read more

Cute location with great staff. My dad and i came here for brunch today and shared the cloud cakes and quiche. The cloud cakes were disappointing. The bottom pancake was overcooked on both sides. Also- it doesnt come with enough toppings. The quiche was pretty good- the hashbrowns were unseasoned and underwhelming. I got a juice shot that was pretty good- complexion or something. Not sure which view I liked more: the food on the table or the girl across from me! Seriously, the food here is amazing, and the wait staff is equally amazing. I wasn't sure what to get because everything looked good, and I joked with our waitress, Misty, that maybe I'd just start with the first thing on the menu and work my way down every time I come back. The monte cristo was delicious and the one bite I had of the mile high omelette was pretty tasty, too. You have to try the popover if you go. It's a nice side to any meal, and the house-made strawberry butter is fantastic. Oh, and for my iced coffee lovers out there, I thought it was neat that instead of traditional ice cubes (which inevitably melt and water down your coffee), they use frozen coffee cubes! Five stars. Took my mom and son for lunch at dream cafe. First I will say the parking was easy. It's I parking garage and once you go up it's right around the corner and dream cafe does validate. Once inside it's set up like a diner with plenty of seating but because it was so nice outside we wanted to dine out there. Plenty of seating and really nice. Our waiter was very helpful. Because I plan to come back later to try breakfast I went with a lunch option of grilled cheese with ham and tomato soup. It was really good and filling. The location is in the heart of uptown. Easy to find, and there is plenty of free street parking around the perimeter. There is a parking lot but you have to pay for it. The restaurant is very quaint, modern, fresh. The staff was sweet, and helpful, although they did take a long time to get us the check at the end. The best part of this restaurant is they do cater to vegans and people who want to eat healthy when going out. I ordered an oatmilk chai latte with whole grain pancakes, and hashbrown. The latte hit the spot instantly! The hashbrown was Heaven- it was a perfect mix of soft in the middle and crispy on the outside. The pancakes in the otherhand were a bit heavy and bland, nothing special. Of course we have to consider i am getting the healthy pancake, it's not going to be the most delicious in the world. I made reservations for 9:45am as I read that it could get pretty busy. We arrived and were immediately greeted warmly and lead to our seat. The decor is bright and airy. It actually feels a bit dreamy. We sat at table in the rear and quickly thereafter our waitress arrived. She was so nice and bubbly; offering suggestions and answering any questions. My gf ordered a latte and I ordered a mimosa of course! Both drinks were fresh and good! For brunch; the cloud cakes and strap hanger with bacon. Everything was hot and cooked to perfection. The cloud cakes were different.. in that they were more on the flat side vs fluffy. But they were really good. I loved the buttered-jam that came with the toast as well. Me and my girlfriend traveled to Dallas from San Antonio for the State Fair of Texas and was in search for a good brunch spot. Dream Cafe was perfect from the moment we walked inside to the moment we left. Our Server Misty was the best. She was personable and 5/5 on all recommendations. We ordered Bignets and Deviled eggs for appetizer with Mimosas and for our entrees we split the Country Fries Steak platter with the French Toast platter and the Omelet. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. An overall okay experience. A party of 3 and we were all seated quickly. It was mid-morning on a Friday, and there was plenty of seating. Our waiter was so sweet and cared for our table. It was so much food which was great! The biscuit was so so so good! Homemade and moist! Didn't crumble out of my hand. I do wish the scrambled eggs were a bit less browned inside. It also took a very long time to get food. Thankfully we had coffee and conversation. Came on a Saturday during brunch time and thankfully had no wait times. Our server was amazing and continuously checked in on us and fill up our water cups. I ordered a small grapefruit juice and monte cristo and my boyfriend ordered the eggs Benedict with the energizer juice. Overall, the drinks and food were great! I really enjoyed the monte cristo, flavorful with the ham and paired well with the honey mustard. It comes with a fruit cup but I wasn't able to eat majority of the fruits as there was pineapple inside (my fault for not informing them of food allergy) however, was able to try the orange and it was sweet. Both grapefruit juice and the Energizer were fresh. Energizer has some ginger so I didn't try it but was told that the ginger wasn't too strong. You get two small unseasoned dried up pieces of chicken strips with the most disgusting piece of waffle I've ever had in my whole entire life. During a recent visit to my company's Dallas office, my team and I decided to order from Dream Cafe for breakfast. While we all ordered a variety of items as a group, I tried the following items: - Popover with strawberry butter: While it looked like a misshapen croissant, it was undercooked and doughy but also pretty flavorless. I thought the strawberry butter might help but it was also flavorless. I didn't end up eating this and wouldn't order this item again. Cinnamon snail: I expected this to be soft like a normal cinnamon roll, but it was very crunchy. Because of how crunchy it was, the plastic knife didn't even cut through it. We ended up each tearing a piece off using our hands. Nola beignets: These tasted great but weren't like your normal beignets as they were more dense and not as fluffy. We all agreed that these tasted like fried donuts. Cold brew with sugar free syrup: The flavor of the syrup wasn't very prominent in this cold brew but otherwise it was good. Overall, the food was OK but I wouldn't order from here again during our next team event. read more

We have lived in Uptown for 27 years and Dream Cafe is our hands-down favorite spot for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. We stay hopeful that they will decide to open for dinner someday as well! While they offer healthy, vegan, gluten free options, the menu provides plenty of comfort food as well. It is family owned; we look forward to visiting with the owners Mary and Emma and catching up with the manager Greg and our favoirite server Misty. Every staff member is friendly, helpful, and professional. If you're lucky enough to live in Uptown, Dream Cafe is easily walkable and right on the McKinney trolley route. Really nice brunch place in the Uptown area with friendly staff! I previously grabbed their cloud cakes a few months ago, but got the chance to go again with my partner recently. We sat on the patio as it was a nice day - would recommend if the weather is nice as it can get loud inside, but the interior of the cafe is nice. Ended up getting a cappuccino to get a caffeine kick, it was just enough size wise and not too sweet. Then came main meal time. Admittedly, I ordered Austin Tacos given they have a lot of good reviews on Yelp, wanted something different and wanted access to eggs (lol). Taste-wise, the salsa crema definitely was a unique taste I wasn't used to, but I liked it overall. A part of me felt like the dish could've used a little oomph, so I tried adding ketchup and hot sauce to bring out the flavor. Overall a good dish, but I'm not sure if I'd order it again due to my taste preferences - nothing on the dish itself! My partner tried the huevos rancheros. He definitely favored the green/tomatillo sauce over the darker red/brown sauce - it also had a unique/sweet/spicy flavor, but it's likely due to familiarity. Both of us did notice parts of our tortilla did seem a little stale/burnt, but it didn't detract from the dishes too much. What we do want to give praise on is their portions (and potentially way of cooking)! They say they are a very health minded restaurant and it doesn't just show in their offering of smoothies, using alternative rice/wheat tortillas, etc., but the feeling we got afterwards. My problem with a lot of brunch places is that the food portions are too large and/or leave you feeling bloated at the end. My partner and I felt satisfied after leaving, but didn't have that icky feeling of being full. This is something that I also experienced with my friends when I first visited a while back.
