We live in Lakewood, and I have been wanting to try The Heights for some time. The restaurant is relatively small, and I believe they take reservations. I went there solo on a Friday night and was able to get an individual bar seat. They have a full bar and the bartenders are great. The service was excellent throughout dinner, and the place has a good vibe. Food is truly delicious with the number of signature items including the pork chop and the wedge salad. I went to Yelp looking up a brunch spot near me and this came up . . . However I don't know if I'd say this was the brunch I had in mind. I was thankful I was able to call and get on the waitlist as when we arrived the place was PACKED. We were offered outside seating however it was COLD outside and I don't tolerate cold weather well. So we waited for an inside table and the place is on the smaller side of most brunch spots I visit. Got seated and reviewed the menu ~ I had to laugh as my niece flipped the menu to look for more options only to see none there. I ordered the breakfast tacos with bacon and cheese ~ three came with the order and the bacon was chopped and mixed into the eggs. Not bad but different and not what I had expected. My niece got the burger and her mom got the lox bagel. Her bagel came with a side of fruit and if I liked lox, I would have ordered that as it looked to be more filling than the tacos. I eventually had to go get a sweater as every time the door opened a gust of cold air would fill the place but that's a me problem not something I see them being able to fix. Seems like a place that locals come to as I heard one guy say "someone's in my spot" ~ don't recall a drink menu being offered to me, but I did see what looked like a full bar. I came in craving something warm and comforting and asked the host/server what they'd recommend. Without hesitation, they said the chicken pot pie and mentioned it sells out all the time. It's our local neighborhood spot for great breakfast, delicious lunches/dinners, and solid cocktails. It's a cozy place with a beautiful bar, a few high tops and banquette seating, largely frequented by locals. They also do have outside seating in decent weather. The staff is attentive but not overbearing. But, y'all, the food is seriously always good. Breakfast and brunch are popular... don't miss out on the migas or the toasted oatmeal granola pancakes. (If anyone remembers the Legal Grounds days -- these are the prom cakes.) My bestie requests we visit every time she is in town because she's obsessed with those pancakes! Biscuits and gravy are also yummy! They serve Full City Rooster coffee/espresso/lattes/etc. Or get you a mimosa, or two, if you aren't into coffee drinks! Lunch and dinner also have standout items. We decided to check out the heights for branch. They had great reviews on Yelp. And if I focus solely on the food, I agree, the food is fresh, simple and good. I got the bagel and lox and they did not skimp on the salmon or the capers. It also came with fresh fruit, which was tasty as well. My kid got the plain burger and added bacon, it came with fries. She really enjoyed it. They also have a full bar and coffee cocktails. If you get there, after prime time, it would be a cool place to hang out. So why won't I be back? Because I went at about 12:15 and we called ahead of time, and they put our name on the wait list. I don't know why they have a wait list.Because we still stood in line. When we got there, there was a line out the door, the establishment is not really made with the waiting area. So we were standing in the aisle between people's tables, while the wait staff was trying to walk around us to serve other tables. It is a very small restaurant, and it really is not conducive for the crowd. They do have outside seating, but the day we were there, it was very chilly outside. And even though they have heaters inside of the outside seating, which is basically a tent for me and my party, it was too cold to eat outside. So unless I go during nonprime time hours, I probably won't be back. read more

When you walk in, you immediately absorb the vibe- the music is at a level where you can still have conversation, the lights are dim which create a cozy ambiance and the service was inviting. We ordered the wings and pimento queso dip. While both were good, I enjoyed the wings the most out of the whole experience. They are a dry flavorful rub, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. By the look of the rub, you'd think it was too much but it isn't. I ordered the onion soup which comes out hot. It was delicious. I followed it up by the wedge salad. I felt like it had a good amount of toppings and wasn't overly dressed. I tried my partner's steak fries, except he ordered mashed potatoes, the steak was seasoned perfectly and so juicy, was hoping he'd share more! The mashed potatoes were tasty! I had a few Sazerac's and she had the Espresso Martini and we both enjoyed the appetizer cocktails. Warm, cozy, inviting is how I would describe The Heights. Yesterday morning was cold and dreary but my day was made so much brighter after a warm and hearty breakfast, sweet smiles and a cup of coffee that was never allowed to go beyond half empty. I wanted to go someplace that we hadn't been before and The Heights isn't very far from our home so we stopped in. Hubby kept it simple and went for the Basic Breakfast and his rosemary potato hash was the star of his plate, wonderfully crispy and beautifully flavored with chopped rosemary. Yes, I stole a few off his plate and I have no regrets. Now on to my breakfast, it was a wonderful symphony of flavors, textures and all around goodness. The Toasted Oatmeal Granola Pancakes were every bit of deliciousness as described in the name. These pancakes are fluffy but the toasted oatmeal in the batter makes them dense and adds a great chew to each bite. They're also topped with house made granola that's crunchy and lightly sweetened as well as fresh berries that add brightness to the dish. I decided to because I need to give some love to the all that make this place so special(other than the obvious credit to the chef for always putting out great food). We had the deviled eggs for a started, then The Heights Burger & Steak Frites for our entrees. Everything was delicious! These might be some of my favorite deviled eggs, the sriracha dollop really added a flavor profile that this dish sometimes lacks. Our server was very attentive and made great recommendations for bars that were walking distance after we finished dinner to keep the night going. This is a spot we will likely be back to... hopefully for one of their weekend brunches because their menu looks great. read more
