I went to Yelp looking up a brunch spot near me and this came up . . . However I don't know if I'd say this was the brunch I had in mind. I was thankful I was able to call and get on the waitlist as when we arrived the place was PACKED. We were offered outside seating however it was COLD outside and I don't tolerate cold weather well. So we waited for an inside table and the place is on the smaller side of most brunch spots I visit. Got seated and reviewed the menu ~ I had to laugh as my niece flipped the menu to look for more options only to see none there. I ordered the breakfast tacos with bacon and cheese ~ three came with the order and the bacon was chopped and mixed into the eggs. Not bad but different and not what I had expected. My niece got the burger and her mom got the lox bagel. Her bagel came with a side of fruit and if I liked lox, I would have ordered that as it looked to be more filling than the tacos. I eventually had to go get a sweater as every time the door opened a gust of cold air would fill the place but that's a me problem not something I see them being able to fix. Seems like a place that locals come to as I heard one guy say "someone's in my spot" ~ don't recall a drink menu being offered to me, but I did see what looked like a full bar. It's not likely I'll return but this is more so because it's off the beaten path for me versus anything that else.

Great little brunch spot in Lakewood. The staff were all super nice and the menu was short and to the point but my biscuits and gravy were pretty good ! I was worried the jalapeños maybe spicy but I didn't really notice. Overall great little spot !

You know how there are some places you go because they are consistently good and reliable? The Heights is one of those places. It's our local neighborhood spot for great breakfast, delicious lunches/dinners, and solid cocktails. It's a cozy place with a beautiful bar, a few high tops and banquette seating, largely frequented by locals. They also do have outside seating in decent weather. The staff is attentive but not overbearing. But, y'all, the food is seriously always good. Breakfast and brunch are popular... don't miss out on the migas or the toasted oatmeal granola pancakes. (If anyone remembers the Legal Grounds days -- these are the prom cakes.) My bestie requests we visit every time she is in town because she's obsessed with those pancakes! Biscuits and gravy are also yummy! They serve Full City Rooster coffee/espresso/lattes/etc. Or get you a mimosa, or two, if you aren't into coffee drinks! Lunch and dinner also have standout items. The pork chop, the pot roast, the mussels, and the burgers!! They also have a fish of the day and a special dessert on their daily chalkboard. Oh -- I almost forgot the Reuben. Try that, too! Full bar with really great classic signature cocktails on the menu. Who doesn't love a sloe gin fizz?? The Heights is the quintessential neighborhood spot you don't wanna miss!

We decided to check out the heights for branch. They had great reviews on Yelp. And if I focus solely on the food, I agree, the food is fresh, simple and good. I got the bagel and lox and they did not skimp on the salmon or the capers. It also came with fresh fruit, which was tasty as well. My kid got the plain burger and added bacon, it came with fries. She really enjoyed it. They also have a full bar and coffee cocktails. If you get there, after prime time, it would be a cool place to hang out. So why won't I be back? Because I went at about 12:15 and we called ahead of time, and they put our name on the wait list. I don't know why they have a wait list.Because we still stood in line. When we got there, there was a line out the door, the establishment is not really made with the waiting area. So we were standing in the aisle between people's tables, while the wait staff was trying to walk around us to serve other tables. It is a very small restaurant, and it really is not conducive for the crowd. They do have outside seating, but the day we were there, it was very chilly outside. And even though they have heaters inside of the outside seating, which is basically a tent for me and my party, it was too cold to eat outside. So unless I go during nonprime time hours, I probably won't be back.

My family and I stopped by The Heights on a Sunday afternoon for brunch. The service was attentive, the food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the outdoor ambiance was great. The restaurant was pretty packed inside during the lunch rush, so we chose to sit outside--and it ended up being the perfect spot on such a nice day.

The ambiance is great. Lots of familiar faces. Super food. Great service at the bar with Jake. He knows what you want to order and works fast and efficiently to keep you coming back.

Jake, best bar tender in East Dallas. Brunch customers love his drinks and attention to detail. Food is amazing. I always get the pancakes.
    Pat H.

Lots of repeat customers. Jake, the bar tender, knows his customers. He makes the best drinks with lots of flair. He's humble, but great. I like the pancakes, scrambled eggs. Bacon is made to your preference. Easy parking. Great vibe with lots of Lakewood stars showing up for Sat or Sunday brunch.

Great food and service. Been a staple of mine for 6 years. Over the past 6 months though portion sizes have shrunk to an absurd size, particularly for the brisket pot roast. Shrinkflation is here.

Toasted Short Stack of Oatmeal Pancakes
    Chelsea O.

A weekly staple for us. If we're not there for Sunday breakfast, then we're there for dinner at some point. Everything is always consistent and full of flavor. They truly care about the service and food they put out. Such a great local spot, very cozy inside. We love sitting at the bar or out on the patio. From a regular, here's what I would order: - toasted oatmeal pancakes with sausage - potato hash - burger - DEVILED EGGS (I dream about them) - pot roast - shrimp Louie

    Chicken Pot Pie. BOMB
    Travis S.

Good outstanding. Great bartenders. Solid dive bar. Always have specials for drinks and food and the staples on the menu never miss. The chicken pot pie is the best you can get in Dallas. It's fantastic. Ice cold martinis are a must and they also have great burgers. Local place for the people of Lakewood for a while and a staple for the days to come.

    Pork Chop!

Has this place bookmarked for a while and me and the wife finally hit it on a date night recently. We both loved the vibe and the food. I had a few Sazerac's and she had the Espresso Martini and we both enjoyed the appetizer cocktails. For the main course I got the pork chop and it is easily one of my favorite's in DFW (not overpriced like other's bone-in chop). The sautéed green beans really surprised me. She got the chicken pot pie and she had to keep slapping my hand away from sneaking bites.

That's the whole thing. French discipline, Texas spirit, six syllables, no further explanation offered or required, and if you do not immediately understand exactly what that means the moment you walk into The Joule on Main Street then I do not know what to tell you except that the rosemary tallow fries are going to clarify things very quickly. CBD Provisions opened in 2013 as the Joule Hotel's in-house restaurant, became famous for a crispy pig's head carnitas that required you to pull strips of meat off an actual half pig's head at the table and tuck them into tortillas, which is a dish so committed to its own bit that it belongs in a museum, and then closed in July 2025 for a months-long renovation that brought in new culinary director Sezer Deniz. Deniz trained under Chef Jean Paul Naquin at the Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon, France. He has twenty-plus years in Michelin-starred kitchens including Alinea in Chicago. He is now making breakfast tacos inside a hotel in downtown Dallas and I want to be very clear that this is a promotion. The room has exposed brick and wood floors and steel beams and mosaic tile and antique mirrors and railcar booth seating and a center banquette and stone tabletops, all of which sounds like it should be competing with itself but instead produces the specific feeling of a place that has been here long enough to know what it is. I sat at the bar, which is the correct place to sit, and ordered the short rib corn cake stack, which is braised short rib and avocado and two poached eggs and a poblano hollandaise and which arrives looking like the cover of a cookbook that does not exist but absolutely should. The poblano hollandaise is the detail I keep returning to. Not regular hollandaise. Poblano hollandaise. Someone in that kitchen made a decision to take a classical French sauce with two centuries of culinary tradition behind it and introduce it to a pepper from Puebla, Mexico, and what resulted is something that makes you look at regular hollandaise and think, you had potential, you just never reached it. I ate the entire thing and then contemplated ordering another one and then did not because I am a person with limits, technically. The CBD Provisions burger is a double smash with American cheese and grilled onion and house pickles and something called fancy sauce, which is a name I respect enormously because it is not pretending to be anything other than exactly what it is. It comes with rosemary tallow fries, which are the reason I will order this burger every time I come here for the rest of my life. Rosemary. Tallow. Fries. Three words that in combination produce something that should be legally classified as a controlled substance. French in method, Texan in manner. Boots and a brasserie. The Joule has been on Main Street for years and CBD Provisions has been feeding people inside it for over a decade, new chef and new tile floors notwithstanding, and it has figured out the thing that most hotel restaurants never figure out, which is that the goal is not to remind you that you are eating in a hotel. The goal is to make you forget entirely. I forgot entirely. The tallow fries helped.

The reservation required prepayment, was nonrefundable, just shy of $5k per night and required additional paperwork. This was my second time reserving this room in the past year. I flew in from Fort Lauderdale, stayed in a smaller suite the first night. The following morning, I was informed that the penthouse would not be available because the current occupant had an emergency and the hotel "was obligated" to allow them to remain. I was moved to a different penthouse, given a significant discount, and treated professionally by management. However, the issue was never the discount. The issue was that the accommodation I specifically selected, prepaid for, and planned my trip around was not honored. The Loft Penthouse was nice. The staff was courteous. But after traveling from Florida for a once-in-a-lifetime reunion, I left with the understanding that even a prepaid, nonrefundable reservation for a specialty suite may not actually be secure. That's something future guests should know when making their plans. What troubles me most is that this occurred during the FIFA Club World Cup, when Dallas was hosting numerous athletes, celebrities, executives, sponsors, and VIP guests. While I have no way of knowing who remained in the penthouse, it is difficult not to notice that a reservation I made nearly two weeks in advance, prepaid in full, and completed additional paperwork for was the reservation that was displaced. If the Penthouse and Loft Penthouse were truly equivalent accommodations, there should have been no issue relocating the guest who extended their stay to the Loft Penthouse rather than relocating the guest who had prepaid for the Penthouse nearly two weeks in advance. The partial refund that was offered, does not restore the experience that I booked and planned around. What I experienced was unfulfillment of a contractual obligation from the hotel's end while I kept my end of the contractual obligation. Whether I was the least important person in the room or simply the easiest to inconvenience - What was done cannot be undone.
