I thought the food at Gemma was maybe slightly above average. For my entree, I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka. While I love vodka sauce and the taste was good overall, this version was a bit less flavorful than others, and the consistency was less creamy than I prefer. My husband ordered the sakura heritage pork, and we felt like the flavor was not super memorable. The patatas bravas on the side sounded good on the menu but were also about average. While our meal wasn't bad, given how many restaurants there are in the area, I'm not sure if I will be back.

I would definitely recommend checking this place out! Unusual for Dallas, but this actually has a parking lot and so it is easy to park. The restaurant is very nicely and intimately decorated our server was fantastic and made great recommendations. Our food came out cooked super perfection. The drinks were cold and delicious and I really had no complaints about my experience! Will definitely be back.

Gemma is a lovely dining experience, great service and hospitality. I think the menu has gotten larger, with several appetizer options that could also serve as vegetable sides. Our group all got something different and everyone enjoyed their meal, but I think I ordered best: skirt steak with shrimp fried rice, duck fat tots, dirty martini.

I came here for a fun celebration with my coworker. The ambiance is classy, perfect for a date or a cute place to celebrate with friends. The food was delicious and we got drinks as well. They have valet parking but you can find parking around the area as well if you prefer.

Charming bistro. When we first came in, we were greeted kindly and the first half of the meal was great. We were given scones with a salted butter. Started out with the Mussel Escabeche as an appetizer. The bread was buttery and grilled and it went well with the mussels vinaigrette sauce. The Idaho Trout was quite nice and flaky like white fish should. The biggest disappointment was the Akaushi rib eye as the mushrooms were dry on the ends and too oily and the rib eye was not well marbled. We didn't finish it. It was supposed to be 18 oz and for two people... but it doesn't seem to be worth it. The fries with garlic aioli was quite nice and would get again. Really nice staff, but I would not get the Akaushi rib eye again.

This place is more like a 3.75 out of 5 stars. With a newborn its so difficult to get some time to ourselves, but for our wedding anniversary we wanted to check out a place in dallas for a simple dinner. Luckily the in-laws were able to help watch the baby. I think this place is fairly popular, so you definitely should make a reservation online, and if you're looking to eat here on the weekend, i think you should make reservations a couple weeks in advance. They will first give you some homemade biscuits, which is both a bit savory and sweet. We ended up getting 1 item from the raw bar, two appetizers and two entrees. I think the best item was the hamachi, since it's been over 10 months since my wife and i had raw food, due to her being pregnant. The hamachi was really fresh and the sauce it came with was so flavorful. Out of the two entrees, i enjoyed the sakura pork more than the duck. However, the fries that came with the duck was really good. HAMACHI CRUDO orange, calabrian chili, crispy capers BURRATA Strawberries, snap peas, pecans, rhubarb, basil Beat Salad with creme fraiche SAKURA HERITAGE PORK "SECRETO" patatas bravas, bravas sauce, garlic aioli Duck with Fries The service was really good, and the interior design and vibe was great. There are some parking spots outside, but the majority if for valet. I think you'll need to be lucky if you want to self park.

We had a great experience dining at Gemma. From the moment we walked in, hospitality was friendly and we felt taken care of. Everyone is offered a small scone to begin with which was delicious. We then split the shrimp spaghetti and steak frites (substituted normal fries for the duck fat tater tots) and were very pleased with everything. The steak was solid and felt fair priced but the spaghetti was the star of the show and I would for sure order it again. Overall, we had a nice experience, enjoyed the warm atmosphere, and would come back again for a nicer date night. Note- make your reservation in advance because spots here go quickly.

Gemma - Saturday Dinner Review (4.5) Gemma absolutely delivered on every front during my recent Saturday dinner. Our waiter, Anthony, set the tone with his great personality and attentive service was friendly, professional, and perfectly timed throughout the night. We started with fresh scones that arrived warm, soft, and buttery that was definitely a decadent opener served with salted butter that honestly could have been dessert on its own. Next came the fried olives and pecans, an unexpected yet perfect pairing that I loved. Both the burrata and hamachi crudo followed and were absolutely exquisite. Everything was clean with vibrant flavors and beautifully presented. For my main course, I went with the Filet au Poivre accompanied by frites and a side of creamed spinach. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender, flavorful, and easily one of the best filet mignons I've had in Dallas. The frites were solid, and the spinach rounded out the plate nicely. For dessert, we shared the apple crisp and gianduja chocolate tart. Both were excellent, though not showstoppers definitely a nice way to end the meal but not the reason I'd return. Overall, Gemma is an outstanding restaurant with warm service, thoughtful food, and a relaxed yet polished atmosphere. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for one of Dallas's most consistently great dining experiences. Rating: 4.5 out of 5

We went to Gemma for Valentine's Day this year. The last time we came here was our first Valentine's Day together in 2020. We were really excited especially since they won a Michelin star last year. But overall the experience was pretty disappointing. Our server was nice enough but wasn't really helpful and didn't really guide our experience like you would expect at an upscale dining establishment. Honestly she barely spoke to us, didn't guide us through the menu, didn't really explain the drink options, she just took our order and moved on. My husband got an old fashioned that he liked, I started with a mocktail since I was driving, it was a basil ncucumber mocktail and it was incredibly sour. I may have gone with something else but when I asked the server I was told there was a basil cucumber or blood orange, again with very little details I figured basil cucumber was a good option. I drank it but it mostly tasted like tart infused water. We ordered an extra appetizer at the beginning of the meal, caviar tater tots. Again they weren't well explained, but I'm really glad we did order it because it was likely the best thing we had. For our first course on the pre fixe I got the salmon tartare which was lack luster. It really didn't have much flavor at all. My husband had the chicken liver mouse and he said it was good 7.5/10 for him. For the second course we both got the charred octopus dish. The dish was very one note, the octopus wasn't charred at all and all the elements kinda blended together. For the entree we both got the braised pork cheek. The cheek was tender and the polenta was cooked perfectly, but again the dish was one note. Like it was missing acid or something to set off the richness of the dish. For dessert my husband got the brownie and I got the semifreddo to go. The brownie he said was fine but nothing special. I haven't eaten the semifreddo yet. We left full but mostly disappointed. I understand it's a holiday and it's a big day of the year but when your bill including tip is almost $500 at a Michelin star restaurant, it feels pretty deflating to have such a lack luster experience.

This restaurant is definitely such a cute little gem! Went here for a girls dinner and we loved our dining experience. We loved the ambiance and the service and the food was great as well. We wanted to try everything because it all sounded so good on the menu that we probably over ordered.. (per usual) hahah but my favorite dish was probably the heirloom beets in their appetizer! And the pasta was good. The steak was just regular which is their Saturday special dish and the leek tart was interesting but kind of salty. Overall we had a great dinner here and I will definitely be going back to try some of their other dishes :)

We had such a lovely dining experience at this establishment. The service was top-notch. The food was exceptional. The drinks were pristine. Absolutely zero complaints. We cannot wait to dine again. Helpful hint.... Make a reservation because the restaurant is small and busy (without feeling rushed).

I was excited to try Gemma after hearing they received the Michelin Bib Gourmand again this year. They started us with cranberry bread and salted butter, not my personal favorite, but my parents liked it! We split a dozen oysters (half Maine, half Alabama) and the Maine oysters were definitely the winners. For mains, the skirt steak was a bit overcooked for me, but the shrimp fried rice had great flavor. I had the rigatoni alla vodka, good flavor from the Calabrian chilis, but the sauce was a little watery. The best dish by far was the braised rabbit pappardelle, packed with flavor and a must-try. Our waiter, Anthony, was very attentive with excellent recommendations. Service overall was great, and I loved the ambience and cozy vibes of the restaurant. We were too full for dessert, so I'll definitely be back to try more. Great experience!

My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner. Our server was excellent -- attentive, friendly, and even offered a couple of off-menu items that were delicious. My cocktail was also great. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try the duck frites because of my seafood allergy; the restaurant uses a shared fryer for seafood, so I opted for the pappardelle instead. It was tasty but the portion was smaller than expected. My wife ordered the skirt steak with shrimp fried rice -- she said the steak was a little too chewy, but the flavor was incredible. We finished with the affogato, but the ice cream was very hard (almost freezer-burned), though the espresso itself was excellent. Service was great until the very end -- when I handed over my card, the front-of-house staff, rather loudly, asked me to come up and enter my PIN instead of handling the situation discreetly. It was an awkward end to an otherwise enjoyable evening.

The restaurant was very full, and we only planned to quickly grab a decaf cappuccino and some bread at the bar. I am 36 weeks pregnant. There was one open seat at the bar, and the two people sitting on either side were with other guests and did not appear to be leaving anytime soon. I asked the gentleman who had just stood up if he had closed his tab, and he confirmed that he had. Based on that, and the hostess directing us toward the bar, I sat down while my partner stood next to me. When we went to order a cappuccino, the male bartender immediately told us the bar had a waitlist and that the seat was "reserved." There was no reserved sign, and the guest had literally just vacated the seat. I explained that I was only grabbing a quick cappuccino and would not be there long. I even said, "No problem, I won't be here long," and made my intentions clear. Instead of working with that, he told me he would have to ask me to get up. I would have been perfectly happy to move once the party arrived or if the seat was actually needed. However, the interaction was handled abruptly and without basic courtesy or flexibility. What makes this more disappointing is that we had actually enjoyed the restaurant a few nights earlier. During that visit, Ashley took care of us and she was an absolute gem--warm, attentive, and exactly what great hospitality should feel like. I would highly recommend sitting with her. I had even met one of the investors during that visit. While I don't frequent Il Bracco regularly, I do know many people in the Dallas hospitality industry, including owners and operators, and situations like this are exactly the kinds of service breakdowns we discuss so they can avoid them in their own restaurants. Unfortunately, after this interaction, I will not be returning. The bartender's approach to guest interaction and basic hospitality needs serious attention. Good luck guys!

To begin, I would not recommend using their valet even though it is free, because they seem to only have one person working it so it takes forever for them to take your car. We had to wait for over 10 minutes for the valet guy to come back to his post, meanwhile I'm stopped in the middle of the street with car having to drive around me. It would have been much faster to just park in their garage which is also free for I think 2 hours once validated by the restaurant. The valet also didn't have a system for keeping track of the cars, no key tag, number to text, or anything, he just asked for my name and said he would remember me. That didn't seem like the safest process to me. Not to mention, when we picked our car up he just gave me the key to drive it off from the space myself instead. Valet aside, the restaurant was really nice inside and had good balance of not quite fine dining, but also not too casual, which is what I was looking for. They also decorated for the holidays and the red bows overhanging were a nice touch. As an Italian restaurant, they had plenty of pasta options however our entire table decided to go with the waitress recommended Pollo Parmesan. I think we all were interested in the fact that it contained both red and white sauce, so it allowed us to have the best of both worlds. I wasn't sure how it would mix well at first, but it ending up complementing each other nicely. Lastly, the ladies also appreciate that they provided a bag hanger for their purses. I would like to come back to try their other dishes, I just won't waste time using valet again.

But what really made the experience unforgettable was our server, Leigh. She went above and beyond in every way possible. She didn't just explain the menu- she told a story. From the background of the owner to the details of each dish, you could tell how much care and passion went into everything. She checked in at all the right moments, made sure we had everything we needed, and genuinely cared that we loved each bite. And the food... wow. It transported me to Italy. We started with the arugula salad with bresaola dressed with lemon - super refreshing - paired with the arancini. The bread dipped in the sauce was insane: perfectly crisp on the outside, with rich, flavorful rice inside. We shared the triangoli ravioli stuffed with ricotta and topped with mushroom, hazelnut, and parmesan, and it was incredible. The hazelnut added the perfect crunch and nutty depth. Then came the tagliatelle with wagyu bolognese--perfectly balanced, rich, and made even better with clearly homemade pasta. We finished savory dishes with the veal saltimbocca, and I swear it made me feel like I was sitting in Rome. The sauce was incredible, and the sage really brought everything together. But the true showstoppers? Dessert. My Italian grandma said the cannolo was the best she's ever had - and that says everything. Light, crisp, and not overly sweet. Then the chocolate dessert with olive oil and sea salt... I went in for two bites and somehow finished the entire thing without realizing. Easily the best chocolate dessert I've ever had. This place is out of this world. Would order all of these dishes again. In a city full of restaurants, this is one I will come back to every single time I'm in Dallas. Absolutely 5 stars. Brava.

From the beginning it felt like we were ruining his life. He was cheerless and curt and wouldn't make eye contact with anyone. It would be more understandable if the restaurant was super busy or understaffed. But this was Monday at 6 pm. We listed a birthday on the reservation, but it wasn't acknowledged. Why bother to ask if we are celebrating? We waited for empty plates and glasses to be cleared between courses. We waited a long time for him to return so we could order a second glass of wine. Even longer for the plates to be cleared and longer still for the opportunity to order dessert...a piece of cake for the birthday girl and two after dinner drinks...but the drinks weren't picked up from the bar when the cake was delivered, and only remembered when we asked for the check. We watched him pick them up (well after the cake was consumed) on his way to leave the bill. No mention that they had been overlooked, no thank you, no good night. This was our first time at Barsotti's and it will be our last. Aside from the awful service, we had issues with the food as well. The veal was pounded paper thin and fried hard resulting in a tough, chewy texture similar to dried beef or jerky. It was dry and overcooked on two different dishes. On a more positive note, we enjoyed the fried ravioli appetizer and the redfish was fine. While our waiter was largely MIA and unpleasant when he did show up, the bus boy/assistant was gracious and attentive. Maybe he was trying to compensate for his colleague. BTW, the offensive employee was in his late 40s to mid 50s with a slight build and salt and pepper hair.

The portion sizes didn't make any sense. My husband only had 8 pieces and I had so much I only finished half. We've been to Italy, we understand European plates. But if someone had come to check on us, my husband would have ordered more food (or Luca should have mentioned the small portion when he ordered). Since it's supposed to be a fine dining establishment, we expected to have a manager check on us. That never happened. This was NOT a $360 dining experience (which was our bill for the worst customer service we've ever experienced).
