Omg the complimentary scone was solid - most delicious one I had up to date. Deep fried olives were weird but oven roasted nuts were good (Roasted Broccolini) was great. I couldn't taste the brown butter as much as I'd like (I like a lot) but the capers and pepper elevated the dish a lot. (Heirloom carrots) Sauce in carrots was my favorite - the cara cara beurre blanc was #1 to me, my favorite sauce ever. The scone they give you in the beginning is a really nice touch. Make a reservation online as spots fill up fast. The parking lot is decent but busy, they do have a valet on site. Had the best dinner with my friend. We were both celebrating accomplishments in our lives so it felt good to treat yourselves to a nice dinner. We started with wine (Puerte de Rus) and we both got the RIGATONI ALLA VODKA as our main entrees- I added chicken on mine for extra protein. It was so good ! The chicken was a little bland but I think most places do that for health reasons (can't be so salty or seasoned for some). The staff were all well trained and knowledgeable. It was a rainy, cold Friday night, when my husband and I were trying to decide on a place to eat for dinner. We wanted somewhere intimate, and warm. That's when we found Gemma. And it truly checked all the boxes for us! We didn't have reservations, and the hostess quickly told us there was plenty of room at the bar. I am not normally a bar kind of girl because I don't drink, but this experience was different. The bar was elegant in a simple refined way, and the bar tenders treated us with great respect, even though we were not drinking anything other than water. They were personal and engaging the whole time. We ordered our dinner, and I had the filet and it was scrumptious. Yes, I did explain a steak just that way. It was cooked perfectly, and the seasoning was delicious. We also ordered the Brussels prints - another winner! And I don't want to leave out the fries, of course they were seasoned just right too. Seriously... this was a perfect dinner for a rainy evening. We both left saying this was truly the best experience we have had eating in a while. Gemma was such a great choice for my birthday -- everything we ordered was so good. One standout was the fried Castelvetrano olives, which I'd never had before anywhere, and they were absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be ordering those again. Went here last night for our anniversary dinner. It was a nice casual restaurant with decently priced food. The only thing I didn't like is how closely the tables were placed. I felt like I was sitting too close to the other diners. The food and service were good. We got the steak tartare and the fried olives with pecans. The tartare was delicious but I'm not sure why the olives are so famous. For mains we got the rabbit pappardelle and the pork chops. I liked the pappardelle more than the pork. I also had a martini with my food and the restaurant gave us two glasses of bubbly for our special day! I thought that was a nice touch. Service was good without being intrusive. We got lucky to find free parking but most people need to be prepared to valet their car. All in all, a good experience. read more

I was excited to try Gemma after hearing they received the Michelin Bib Gourmand again this year. They started us with cranberry bread and salted butter, not my personal favorite, but my parents liked it! We split a dozen oysters (half Maine, half Alabama) and the Maine oysters were definitely the winners. For mains, the skirt steak was a bit overcooked for me, but the shrimp fried rice had great flavor. I had the rigatoni alla vodka, good flavor from the Calabrian chilis, but the sauce was a little watery. The best dish by far was the braised rabbit pappardelle, packed with flavor and a must-try. Our waiter, Anthony, was very attentive with excellent recommendations. Service overall was great, and I loved the ambience and cozy vibes of the restaurant. Food-wise this place is probably a solid three plus. But I'm giving them four stars for the bartenders. Not having reservations we were told that we needed to sit in the bar. That was not such a bad thing because honestly, the bar had a cooler vibe than the dining room did. But the large part of that was the two bartenders that were both very personable and kept the show rolling while we ate. The food to me was pretty solid, but I will stop short of saying it was fantastic. My Chicken was over-cooked and therefore dried out, but still tasty. The Frites were excellent. I thought the food at Gemma was maybe slightly above average. For my entree, I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka. While I love vodka sauce and the taste was good overall, this version was a bit less flavorful than others, and the consistency was less creamy than I prefer. My husband ordered the sakura heritage pork, and we felt like the flavor was not super memorable. The patatas bravas on the side sounded good on the menu but were also about average. Charming bistro. When we first came in, we were greeted kindly and the first half of the meal was great. We were given scones with a salted butter. Started out with the Mussel Escabeche as an appetizer. The bread was buttery and grilled and it went well with the mussels vinaigrette sauce. The Idaho Trout was quite nice and flaky like white fish should. The biggest disappointment was the Akaushi rib eye as the mushrooms were dry on the ends and too oily and the rib eye was not well marbled. We didn't finish it. It was supposed to be 18 oz and for two people... but it doesn't seem to be worth it. The fries with garlic aioli was quite nice and would get again. This place is more like a 3.75 out of 5 stars. With a newborn its so difficult to get some time to ourselves, but for our wedding anniversary we wanted to check out a place in dallas for a simple dinner. Luckily the in-laws were able to help watch the baby. I think this place is fairly popular, so you definitely should make a reservation online, and if you're looking to eat here on the weekend, i think you should make reservations a couple weeks in advance. They will first give you some homemade biscuits, which is both a bit savory and sweet. We ended up getting 1 item from the raw bar, two appetizers and two entrees. I think the best item was the hamachi, since it's been over 10 months since my wife and i had raw food, due to her being pregnant. The hamachi was really fresh and the sauce it came with was so flavorful. Out of the two entrees, i enjoyed the sakura pork more than the duck. However, the fries that came with the duck was really good. HAMACHI CRUDO orange, calabrian chili, crispy capers BURRATA Strawberries, snap peas, pecans, rhubarb, basil Beat Salad with creme fraiche SAKURA HERITAGE PORK "SECRETO" patatas bravas, bravas sauce, garlic aioli Duck with Fries The service was really good, and the interior design and vibe was great. The Knox/Henderson area just keeps growing and Gemma is a great addition to the area. There are so many restaurants to choose from in Dallas and after our experience, Gemma was an excellent choice. We enjoyed the seafood platter, rigatoni alla vodka, fried quail, french fries & the gianduja tart while enjoying several glasses of cremant de limoux rose. Dinner was great and made even better by the great service that we received from Tyler P. We had a great experience dining at Gemma. From the moment we walked in, hospitality was friendly and we felt taken care of. Everyone is offered a small scone to begin with which was delicious. We then split the shrimp spaghetti and steak frites (substituted normal fries for the duck fat tater tots) and were very pleased with everything. The steak was solid and felt fair priced but the spaghetti was the star of the show and I would for sure order it again. Gemma - Saturday Dinner Review (4.5) Gemma absolutely delivered on every front during my recent Saturday dinner. Our waiter, Anthony, set the tone with his great personality and attentive service was friendly, professional, and perfectly timed throughout the night. We started with fresh scones that arrived warm, soft, and buttery that was definitely a decadent opener served with salted butter that honestly could have been dessert on its own. Next came the fried olives and pecans, an unexpected yet perfect pairing that I loved. Both the burrata and hamachi crudo followed and were absolutely exquisite. Everything was clean with vibrant flavors and beautifully presented. For my main course, I went with the Filet au Poivre accompanied by frites and a side of creamed spinach. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender, flavorful, and easily one of the best filet mignons I've had in Dallas. The frites were solid, and the spinach rounded out the plate nicely. For dessert, we shared the apple crisp and gianduja chocolate tart. Both were excellent, though not showstoppers definitely a nice way to end the meal but not the reason I'd return. Overall, Gemma is an outstanding restaurant with warm service, thoughtful food, and a relaxed yet polished atmosphere. This restaurant is definitely such a cute little gem! Went here for a girls dinner and we loved our dining experience. We loved the ambiance and the service and the food was great as well. We wanted to try everything because it all sounded so good on the menu that we probably over ordered.. (per usual) hahah but my favorite dish was probably the heirloom beets in their appetizer! And the pasta was good. The steak was just regular which is their Saturday special dish and the leek tart was interesting but kind of salty. My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner. Our server was excellent -- attentive, friendly, and even offered a couple of off-menu items that were delicious. My cocktail was also great. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try the duck frites because of my seafood allergy; the restaurant uses a shared fryer for seafood, so I opted for the pappardelle instead. It was tasty but the portion was smaller than expected. My wife ordered the skirt steak with shrimp fried rice -- she said the steak was a little too chewy, but the flavor was incredible. We finished with the affogato, but the ice cream was very hard (almost freezer-burned), though the espresso itself was excellent. Service was great until the very end -- when I handed over my card, the front-of-house staff, rather loudly, asked me to come up and enter my PIN instead of handling the situation discreetly. We went to Gemma for Valentine's Day this year. The last time we came here was our first Valentine's Day together in 2020. We were really excited especially since they won a Michelin star last year. But overall the experience was pretty disappointing. Our server was nice enough but wasn't really helpful and didn't really guide our experience like you would expect at an upscale dining establishment. Honestly she barely spoke to us, didn't guide us through the menu, didn't really explain the drink options, she just took our order and moved on. My husband got an old fashioned that he liked, I started with a mocktail since I was driving, it was a basil ncucumber mocktail and it was incredibly sour. I may have gone with something else but when I asked the server I was told there was a basil cucumber or blood orange, again with very little details I figured basil cucumber was a good option. I drank it but it mostly tasted like tart infused water. We ordered an extra appetizer at the beginning of the meal, caviar tater tots. Again they weren't well explained, but I'm really glad we did order it because it was likely the best thing we had. For our first course on the pre fixe I got the salmon tartare which was lack luster. It really didn't have much flavor at all. My husband had the chicken liver mouse and he said it was good 7.5/10 for him. For the second course we both got the charred octopus dish. The dish was very one note, the octopus wasn't charred at all and all the elements kinda blended together. For the entree we both got the braised pork cheek. The cheek was tender and the polenta was cooked perfectly, but again the dish was one note. Like it was missing acid or something to set off the richness of the dish. For dessert my husband got the brownie and I got the semifreddo to go. The brownie he said was fine but nothing special. I haven't eaten the semifreddo yet. We left full but mostly disappointed. I understand it's a holiday and it's a big day of the year but when your bill including tip is almost $500 at a Michelin star restaurant, it feels pretty deflating to have such a lack luster experience. read more

Gemma Gemma, you've put me in quite a dilemma. Let me start by saying how great the hospitality is. From the birthday card for my wife we were greeted with when we arrived to the wait staff that made sure our glasses were full and made us feel comfortable, it's safe to say Gemma is elite when it comes to hospitality. In regards to food, we started with fried olives, Burrata, and Korean sticky ribs. The fried olives and pecans were something I never expected I would like but were so good. Such a great salty taste to start our meal. The Burrata was wonderful. The bite with the Burrata, peppers, and prosciutto on the toasted bread was bursting with flavor. The highlight of the appetizers was the sticky ribs. Easily the best ribs I'd ever eaten. I want a bottle of that sauce to go. For entrees we indulged in the rabbit pappardelle and Idaho trout. I can't explain the comfort I felt eating the rabbit pappardelle. It felt like home and visiting a new city for the first time all wrapped in one. My only regret is we didn't get to try the rigatoni alla vodka. For dessert, we saw "panna cotta" and went blind because panna cotta is my wife and i's favorite dessert. I wish we would've read that it was made with a blood orange liqueur. To be blunt, it tasted kind of like a Jell-O shot in panna cotta form. I'm not sure who like that's kind of flavor, but I wish we would've tried something else and ended on a higher note. read more

While the location is a little off (located on a corner of a quieter lot), the interior provides a beautiful space to have a date or catch up with friends. There is valet available but you can also park yourself in the lot and it's quite easy. We started off with the oysters ($4 per oyster) from East coast which were great and not fishy. They do have an oyster happy hour at the bar week nights from 4-6pm. They also give you a warmed bread/scone with cranberries and salted butter which was delicious. We also ordered the Friday special which was great and the duck frites. The fries are amazing and cooked perfectly - our waiter also brought us a garlic aoli and ketchup to pair with the fries. Cocktail was amazing and tasted great. While this was a good meal, we left a bit unsatisfied and wanting more. Worth the visit but not sure we'll make this a regular place we come back to. read more

The ambience is amazing, has a city-chic feel. Al though they couldn't figure out the hvac system (too cold, then too warm), it was a fantastic meal. We started out with the Jumbo Lump Crab cake- very little binding but stayed together perfect, meaning huge lumps of sweet tasting crab in a caper beurre blanc sauce which was subtle and perfect. Then we had the Pappardelle- the sauce was literally, rabbit perfectly tender and the pancetta added a touch of salt, the swiss chard was a perfect addition to this dish. I'd eat this again. Perhaps equally as good (maybe better) was the Spaghetini- had shrimp and herbs, incredible flavor, tasted like it was cooking all day but the shrimp were perfectly cooked (I'd eat this again as well). Five of us dined on a Wednesday evening. It was my first time, but a few others had been before. Gemma has a very interesting menu full of variety and whimsy. From a buttery hamachi starter to fried green olives to a wagyu cheeseburger to fresh oysters to incredible pasta dishes --- plus desserts and fun cocktails to boot. We started with the hamachi (sashimi), raw oysters, and ceviche. All were fantastically prepared and so good that we ordered a round 2! Mains included the rabbit parpadelle, a vodka rigatoni, wagyu cheeseburger, and the veal schnitzel. All enjoyed their entrees - I had the wagyu cheeseburger... it was okay, they didn't ask how I wanted it, and it was overcooked for my likeness. Thin cut shoestring fries were spot on. Dessert included a pistachio semifreddo. I was so full I passed, but it was reportedly very good! Service was very good - everything was high quality, and I look forward to a return. It's almost perfect. It's a really odd location (like a business park) that, if you didn't know it was there, you'd miss it. Lack of eye appeal from the outside is then turned around as the interior is cute and welcoming, as is the greeting. Drinks were great to start, and a nice wine menu is offered. The food was excellent. We tried a salmon taretar, which was very good, but maybe needed a bit more heat. The Waygu Carpaccio was delicious and all together a great dish. The Beet & Endive Salad was possibly the best dish of the evening, maybe because of how different and surprisingly good it was. So many elements came together to make every bite a delight! The only thing I can fault is the presentation, which was a bit pedestrian, but certainly didn't detract from the flavors. Don't miss it. We got the Tagliatelle and the Pappardelle pastas as entrees, and both were stellar! I probably would go back weekly for both if we lived here. The final dish was the coconut chocolate brownie that called to us even though we were both completely sated. We ate every bite! SO good!
