Great food, but some lapses in quality. we joined the wait list on Yelp and didn't have to wait too long before being seated. I ordered an orange juice, which was just standard no-pulp OJ. They only have one size which is quite large, so I had to take most of it to go. I had the Everyday Breakfast Sampler with Eggs, Sausage, a Bagel and Pancakes. The eggs were very average. I think they turned out exactly as if I had cooked them, so no new ground being broken here. Tue sausage was okay, but a bit on the greasy side. The bagel was average too, but the housemade jelly was great! The pancakes were fine too and even better that it's served with real butter. I sampled some fries from my mom's plate and those were top-notch! Very good fries. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was like your standard diner. Overall, the food here was good, but the OJ, bagel and eggs were quite average.

Maple Leaf Diner offers a few traditional Canadian dishes with Texan portion sizes. The majority of the menu actually features classic American dishes. The food itself was enjoyable. However, the Canadian theme and novelty of the presentation make Maple Leaf Diner what it is. If I were a local, I couldn't imagine eating here often, but it's definitely a great spot to hit once in a while or if you're from out of town.

Great place for breakfast or Lunch. Chicken fried chicken breakfast or lunch is my go to, but also had the pot roast. Come hungry!

I got the chicken bacon and waffles. Huge plate it's kind of a meme. The flavor fatigue hit fast. The waffles are good. The chicken was a bit overdone for me. The cream puff was a nice touch but just so incredibly sweet. Service was just okay.

Such a good reuben!! Big fan. Ordered it a couple more times after this. Poutine was good but very salty, as expected.

The food was great, the waiter was really kind. The place is comfortable and great. Very busy on a Saturday morning but we still only had to wait 15 minutes so they are hustling those tables! Only thing I can say to improve was that the inside was a bit confusing. Everyone was waiting around and no one was out front. While we were seated, a couple was wondering through the inside unsure on where to go. Other than that it was SO good! They are totally busy but worth the wait.

It's been a while since I reviewed Maple Leaf Diner. Since my last review, the COVID pandemic is over so this review focuses on Maple Leaf Diner's current interior. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - There is a new remodeled interior (since my last review). Maple Leaf Diner is still in the same location, but the COVID friendly walls have been replaced by traditional booths and seating. There's more decoration on the walls too - especially if you walk down the hall to use the bathroom. Here you can read all the magazine articles that have written about Maple Leaf Diner. 1 Star. Service - Tip: Get in line using the Yelp App. Maple Leaf Diner is extremely popular on weekends, and if you don't get in line, you'll have to wait from 1 - 2 hours. Once you're in, you're greeted with smiles and attentive servers. 1 Star. Food - Maple Leaf Diner is known for its Canadian owners and pure Maple Leaf syrup. So if season pumpkin pancakes are on the menu, ORDER THEM. I did, and I was rewarded with a soft, fluffy stack of thick pancakes with a hint of cinnamon. I was given two small bowls of maple syrup, and I used them both. I also ordered the poutine. Just like in Canada, the poutine had fresh, hot fries smothered in brown gravy and cheese curds. It may sound weird, but it tastes delicious. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes, because there's nothing like Maple Leaf Diner. It's true, I could visit another pancake house and enjoy their pancakes, but there's no mistaking the Canadian charm and delicious food of the Maple Leaf Diner. See you next weekend! 1 Star.

The search is over! I've been looking for the best Chicken Fried Steak in Dallas, and I think Maple Leaf Diner has everyone beat. The batter is seasoned perfectly and stays crispy without falling apart--a rare find. My fiancé and I also shared a half-order of the poutine; it was delicious, addictive, and the ideal size for two people to split. The service is exactly what you want from a diner: friendly, attentive, and quick. If you're craving comfort food, this is the spot.

My boyfriend and I came here after my 10k race. We waited for 45 min (heads up, you can get in line virtually in Yelp) before we were seated. Love the atmosphere and the vibe of the place :) We saw how big the portion was, so we ordered 2 dish to split. i especially love the cream puff on top of the chicken, bacon and waffles, other than that, to me, it is kind of standard - nothing too outstanding. But the poutine *mm* - it was my first ever poutine. Heard so much about it but never had it. Better than expected and will definitely order again!!! Anyways, the dish portion is huge. Sharing is the best decision we made.

The ambience is best described as diner diner style (busy & bustling.) We were say immediately upon entering the restaurant and greeted almost within seconds by our server after sitting at the table. I was feeling breakfast and decided to go with something including pancakes. I loved the consistency, I consider myself a pancake conoseur and their pancakes hit the spot. Instead of eggs, I substituted for their breakfast potatoes which came out hot and crispy . I was even more pleased to know they offered turkey sausage as there are some restaurants that only have pork and beef options. So that game a star in my book. Overall, I'd say the meal was very filling, delicious and freshly cooked. Our server was very attentive and kept not only our water cups filled but continued to check on us throughout our time there. Great choice to stop here, as we were fresh off the airplane, coming from the airport and starving !! Way to go Maple Leaf Diner

5 stars all around. I got a half portion of the regular/classic poutine and a raspberry cream cheese cookie. Both were awesome. The poutine was flavorful and the portion size was enough to make me full. The service was great, food came out very quickly and was hot & fresh.

You guys the hype is real. Amazing service and great food at reasonable price. It's a total diner and I highly recommend you guys adding this to your list. The vibe is total old school diner and the service is impeccable! I cannot wait to return. The poutine was great and perfectly salty. The pancakes are fluffy and the waffles were perfect. My friends got cotton candy mimosa and enjoyed every drop. Add this place to your rotation!

The food is consistently excellent. We went for dinner on a Saturday night (reservations are highly recommended). The wife had the chicken as a main entree. It was outstanding. The chicken was smoky, tender, and moist. It has a bevy of vegetables that are cooked perfectly. It comes with a side and she got the baked potato with everything. She loved everything about this entree. For me, it was an easy decision. I LOVE their wedge salad and started with that. The price has gone up a bit but it remains outstanding. For some reason, the waiter gave me a small but it was fine. The small in 2026 is $7.99 and the regular size is now $11.99. For my entree, I ordered from the appetizer menu and got the crab cake. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the crab cake. It has to be the best in Dallas. It is one half pound of pure crab meat, no filler. The price has gone up to $26.99 so it is not cheap, but it is outstanding quality. The cake was perfectly cooked and the crab was sweet. It comes with three dips but to me, I want to taste the crab so I did not use them. The kid had the old fashioned fries and devoured them. Our server, Mark, was attentive and efficient. Service was excellent as usual. Overall, this is one of the best restaurants in Dallas and IMO the best in the line of Kenny's restaurants. I cannot wait to return.

Just as exciting was the opportunity to spend time with our friend and catch up. Since it was well past the lunch rush, Renny's was pleasantly quiet. We were seated immediately and settled comfortably at our table while waiting for our friend to arrive. Our server, Carlos, greeted us warmly and asked if it was our first time dining at Renny's. We assured him it wasn't. We started with a couple of glasses of their incredible iced tea, a special blend called Apricot Chardonnay. It's delightful. In fact, the restaurant sells it in the bag, and we always take one home with us. Our friend arrived just in time to look over the menu. With so many tempting choices, deciding wasn't easy. My wife, a devoted chicken salad sandwich fan, chose the chicken salad sandwich, and our friend quickly followed suit. I ordered the Friday lunch special: fried cod and fries with a side of jalapeño-infused coleslaw. During our visit, Kim, the manager, stopped by to introduce herself. She was incredibly personable and made us feel right at home. As we enjoyed our iced tea and caught up on all the latest news and gossip, Carlos arrived with our entrees. I sampled the chicken salad and can confirm that it is outstanding. The seasoning and mayonnaise are blended perfectly. My fried cod and fries looked picture-perfect. Carlos asked if I wanted malt vinegar, and my response was an enthusiastic "Of course!" Fish and chips just aren't complete without it. What a fantastic lunch we had. The ladies were all smiles and declared themselves happily satisfied. My fish and chips were among the best I've ever had. The cod was fried to perfection: crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. In a few months, we'll be traveling to Alaska, where there's supposedly a restaurant that serves the best fried cod anywhere. I'm willing to bet that Renny's cod would give them some serious competition. It was phenomenal. The fries were excellent, and the jalapeño coleslaw added the perfect touch. Even though we probably shouldn't have, we couldn't resist ordering dessert. I chose the Crème Brûlée, while the ladies shared an apple tart. The Crème Brûlée was incredible, especially paired with a cup of black coffee. They kindly gave me a taste of the apple tart, and all I can say is wow. The apple slices were cut paper-thin, likely with mandoline, and the puff pastry was baked to perfection. All in all, it was a stellar visit to Renny's. If it weren't so far from home, we would undoubtedly become weekly regulars. A special thank you to Carlos for his attentive, friendly service and to the entire team for making our lunch so memorable.

I had booked a reservation on Resy and we were seated immediately in a small, intimate booth. Initially, it was not terribly loud, but as the evening progressed and several large parties were seated nearby; the sound of the music was completely drowned out. I think more noise abatement measures could be taken to absorb some of the obtrusive loudness we were getting. For a starter, we ordered the Calamari. It was fried perfectly and was great, but the Thai Sticky sauce was too sweet and the consistency of the sauce was thin. It needed something to make it more viscous, and a secondary sauce, like a marinara or even an aioli would've been nice to balance out the sweetness of the Thai sauce. For an entree, I ordered the Maple- Ginger Salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and itself was delicious, but the sauce was too sweet and rich. The fired rice that accompanied my meal was over-the-top salty. It was almost going into "too much" territory. For desert we split the Passion Fruit Ice Cream Pie. This was actually very good and not overly sweet. It was my favorite item from my meal. Overall Renny's truly employs a lot of care and attention to the food, but some of the items crossed a line into "too much" territory. Be it sweetness or saltiness, the kitchen could exercise a bit of restraint to let the flavors of the food shine.

It has jalapeno, heaps of cilantro, and muddled avocado to tie it all together. Very fresh and pleasant. Pastrami sliders were also tasty, but I would venture to say they are a little too bready for an appetizer, but nicely done otherwise. My go to entree is of course either the hanger steak or filet with fries and semi traditional bistro sauce, can't go wrong there. Across every meal - from the redfish to the salads - the food has been as tasteless as styrofoam. I risked the oysters on my first visit, but after realizing the low quality here, I wouldn't dare touch their raw seafood again. Consistency doesn't exist at the bar, either. During a 2.5-hour happy hour, I ordered three Lemon Drops. They ranged from great to absolute swamp water depending on who was pouring. Lunch today was the final straw. The $14 "special" cheeseburger arrived on a stale bun with dry, unseasoned patties--and it doesn't even come with a side, just half a pickle. I've given this place more than enough chances, but they haven't brought their A-game once. Save your money, skip this strip-mall quality, and head to a reliable mid-range spot like Pappadeaux or Anaya's instead. Or, even better, get some good seafood and a great recipe and enjoy at home. This was absolutely not worth it.

Disappointing Birthday Experience…read more Hudson House has always been one of my favorite restaurants, which is why I chose to celebrate my birthday there with my sister during what has been an exceptionally difficult year for our family. I was genuinely looking forward to splurging and having a special experience. The hostesses were welcoming, and the bartender recognized us and kindly waved hello, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, our server, Ivan, made the experience feel very underwhelming. He was not rude, but his service was extremely detached and minimal. There was little warmth, engagement, or effort to make the evening feel special. At the end of the meal, he asked whether we wanted dessert. I pointed out that my birthday was noted on the guest check, hoping he might offer a thoughtful suggestion or acknowledge it in some way. His response was simply, "Okay," followed by, "Do you want chocolate or Key lime pie?" When I said, "Surprise me," there was no enthusiasm or attempt to make the moment memorable. I work in the hospitality industry myself, and I understand that everyone can have an off night. However, when a guest chooses to spend significant money--especially for a birthday celebration--they should feel welcomed and valued. Had I known the service would be this disengaged, I would have spent that money somewhere else. I still left a 25% tip because I believe in taking care of service staff and being the kind of person I want to be. However, the tip should not be interpreted as satisfaction with the experience. I hope management will read this and understand that while nothing was technically "wrong," the overall service fell far below the standard I have come to expect from Hudson House. I would appreciate a mgr reaching out to discuss and give feedback.
