Disappointing Birthday Experience Hudson House has always been one of my favorite restaurants, which is why I chose to celebrate my birthday there with my sister during what has been an exceptionally difficult year for our family. I was genuinely looking forward to splurging and having a special experience. The hostesses were welcoming, and the bartender recognized us and kindly waved hello, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, our server, Ivan, made the experience feel very underwhelming. He was not rude, but his service was extremely detached and minimal. There was little warmth, engagement, or effort to make the evening feel special. At the end of the meal, he asked whether we wanted dessert. I pointed out that my birthday was noted on the guest check, hoping he might offer a thoughtful suggestion or acknowledge it in some way. His response was simply, "Okay," followed by, "Do you want chocolate or Key lime pie?" When I said, "Surprise me," there was no enthusiasm or attempt to make the moment memorable. I work in the hospitality industry myself, and I understand that everyone can have an off night. However, when a guest chooses to spend significant money--especially for a birthday celebration--they should feel welcomed and valued. Had I known the service would be this disengaged, I would have spent that money somewhere else. I still left a 25% tip because I believe in taking care of service staff and being the kind of person I want to be. However, the tip should not be interpreted as satisfaction with the experience. I hope management will read this and understand that while nothing was technically "wrong," the overall service fell far below the standard I have come to expect from Hudson House. This Addison location is absolutely gorgeous! The bar and restaurant setup just gives you a bit of an escape from everyday life. We had a delicious meal. What we ordered: the house oysters, lobster Mac n cheese, burger for my husband , and French chicken for me. Everything came out quickly as we were in a bit of a hurry. The only set back was having the send my chicken back for being a bit cold and needing to fix another mistake on the chicken. The manager quickly rectified it by sending over a brand new order. While the gesture was awesome, we noticed we didn't get a visit from our server the rest of the visit. We certainly don't think it was his fault! Just was a little bit of a bummer to feel the awkwardness after finding something in my food. This is the last time I'm going to this location literally came in here sat down at the bar nobody really greeted me or gave me a menu and this was at the bar. I come here all the time I sat here for about 10 minutes. Another Caucasian man walks up five minutes after me and gets greeted and his drink way before me this is unacceptable. Mind you it wasn't even that busy at the bar. And because I come here all the time I know how the customer service is at this bar. Hudson house has such good food. Their chicken is delicious and always seasoned well! We order the chicken parm, popcorn chicken and French chicken. All were delicious! We had a newer server and she was so sweet. We made a reservations and definitely recommend doing that if you ever decide to go. It was such a cute date night spot! read more

The sushi was the most amazing thing I have tasted in a long while. THE MONTAUK ROLL was filled with crab, tempura flake, avocado, hamachi & salmon, lemon, truffle - no rice. Brilliant! If I'm looking for something on the lighter side, my go to is the red fish, or if I'm looking to treat myself, the burger is hands down the way to go (in my opinion this is one of the best burgers in town). You have to get the chocolate silk pie. This has become my hyper fixation dessert and I cannot recommend it enough! The chocolate explosion (very rich) combined with the crumble topping and cookie like crust is unbeatable. Honestly, I was blown away. This restaurant is in a strip mall, but it would wreck most restaurants in NYC at a much higher price point. They fly their fish in from Hawaii , have an exclusive oyster vendor and, mid-martini, they swap your drink into new frosty glasses. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about explaining the food and menu items. However, the food itself was insane -- I couldn't get over the pressed ahi tuna roll. The food quality was exactly as my local neighborhood Hudson house and the ambience was just as good as well. The service was super hospitable and responsive without being overbearing. I almost always have to get the rock shrimp appetizer. I highly recommend it as it is not super heavily coated and is just the right amount of batter to shrimp. So I'm not HUGE on fish, but trying to be healthier overall with my choices when I go out on business lunches. You guys. The salmon. The fish tacos. Oh my goodness! When I first read "broiled" fish I was like hmmm I'm not sure about this one, so instead chose the "blackened" fish tacos, which is actually a burrito in my opinion, and my coworker got the salmon so we shared. Hands down, best place I've had for both the redfish and salmon in a loooong time. Ask for extra green sauce when you order the fish tacos and the side Cole slaw is soooo good. So I responded "normal water, please." I was excited to try the avocado dip. It mentioned that it was whipped. It sounded fancy. I received white-person-guacamole. My water glass remained empty the whole time because our waitress did not come fill it back up. Also, any restaurant that has the electronic bill on the table to begin with has to start at three stars and only has room to go down from there. From the moment that we were seated, and throughout our meal, it was clear that our server was in a very bad mood. She had a flat, almost angry countenance the entire time. She did not respond whenever we spoke to her. We were very polite in our interactions with her. When we decided to order dessert, she rudely informed us that she would not wait on us anymore and sent over another server. We assumed that she was leaving, so we were quite surprised to see her in the restaurant 10-15 minutes later. I stopped by the Hudson House at the Preston Forest location on a Friday - Jan 9, 2026, evening to pick up a to-go order of my favorite truffle fries. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. As soon as you walk in, the entrance opens directly into the dining room, and there is no designated area to wait for takeout orders. The only options are an enclosed patio, waiting outside, or sitting in your car. That evening, I stood at the bar area with two friends, making sure we were not blocking any walkways. After waiting about 10 minutes, a man who appeared to be a manager approached me in a rude manner and asked if I was ordering a drink. I explained I was waiting for my to-go order. He then told us this was a bad place to stand and asked us to move to the patio so he could seat another guest. His tone was unprofessional and dismissive. The layout of this location is also a major issue. The entrance and exit share a narrow doorway, creating overcrowding. I observed older patrons with physical disabilities struggling to get through, which raised concerns about accessibility and safety. Overall, the customer service was poor, and I was made to feel like an inconvenience simply because I was not dining in. I will not be returning to the Hudson House at Preston Forest. I have been to Hudson house many times at various locations in Dallas, however, this visit left me entirely disappointed. read more
