The food at Terra inside Eataly Dallas was absolutely amazing! Our first server made the experience exceptional by explaining the menu, answering our questions, and checking on us throughout the meal. Based on his recommendation, we ordered the Mezzo Pollo Affumicato (half-smoked chicken with Mediterranean herbs), and it was incredible. We also loved the Prosciutto e Mozzarella appetizer, the delicious dressing, the tiramisu, and the gelato. Unfortunately, our experience changed after the shift change. Our new server, Judson, seemed bothered whenever we asked questions. When the check arrived, he told us the restaurant doesn't split checks and had already combined everything into one bill without ever asking how we wanted to pay. Some of us ordered more than others, it wasn't fair for them to pay for my stuff. Some people ordered much more than others, so my friend had to calculate everyone's totals herself while he watched without offering to help. After that, asking for a $76 tip felt inappropriate, especially when the outstanding service came from our first server. We all became so frustrated. I will definitely come back because the food is outstanding, but I hope not to be served by Judson again. Remember when Caesar salads made table side were a thing? The server would roll up a cart and describe the ingredients as they whisked them into a bowl...an egg, anchovies, olive oil, etc. once the dressing was done, the romaine was incorporated and it the salad served with croutons, Parmesan and freshly cracked pepper. Such a lovely tradition. On a recent visit to Terra we were happy to see a table side Caesar on the menu. It makes perfect sense for a place like Eataly where you can pick up all the ingredients on your way out and try your hand at creating a scratch-made Caesar at home. We eagerly ordered it as it seemed like forever since we'd had freshly made Caesar dressing. What happened next was truly puzzling. Our server rolled up the cart and poured a container of pre-made dressing into the bowl. He then proceeded to table-side toss our salad. We actually fought laughter as he plated and served it. What was the point of that charade? Things turned worse as we noticed that the lettuce was quite old and brown on the obviously cut, not torn edges. Now I'm not so much of a salad snob that I would normally even mention the way the romaine was handled, but we really were thrown by the whole experience or should I say lack of experience. Cut or torn, the lettuce we were served had clearly not been prepared that day. Terra isn't inexpensive and we should all expect better from an establishment focused on fine food. The service was immaculate - I wish I remembered the name of the young lad with a Mexican accent - we loved him! Fantastic location in Northpark Mall and on the top floor of Eatery. The service and food are excellent. You're surrounded by friendly faces and staff who go the extra mile to make your experience one to remember. We ordered the appetizer Prosciutto Crudo, Mozzarella E Olives. It also came with a rustic bread that had a smoky flavor. I ordered the Cavatelli Al Ragù Di Rerra. The meat was fall apart tender and so delicious. My husband and daughter in law had the Tonnarelli All'Astice which is lobster and pasta. My grandson chose the Tagliatelle Alla Norcina. My son had the Tagliata which said was cooked to perfection. Everyone raved about the wonderful flavors and outstanding service. It seems like the staff really like their jobs. For dessert I had the strawberry sorbet. It was a little sour for me but my grandson made short work of it. He had my husband had the gelato which is a vanilla base upon which you add a big selection of toppings. We all enjoyed the slower pace and quiet atmosphere of Terra as opposed to the frenetic pace of the other two floors of Eatily. I am making another review, because I can't comment under the reply from the restaurant, and I wanted to take a few days so I wouldn't come across, angry, or rude. I made a review stating an experience I went through, it involved two people, and I wanted to take some time to warn others if you do have an ill experience here you won't get an apology this is what happens. It would've been better for the restaurant if the Business Manager didn't reply rather than making a reply like that. First of all the situation was me, and my boyfriend went to this establishment for my birthday I am underage, we both ordered the same drink, a Shirley Temple, the drink contained alcohol in it, when we both ordered a drink that didn't, our drinks were spiked with liquor, so much so to where when we got our second drink free, because of the issue, the taste was a whole different drink. I made a review to warn others, and instead of handling it like an adult the reply I got was even worse. I will say now if the restaurant is going to reply like that again, spare me the conversation. The only reason I am doing this is for others who actually care about a good dining experience. Me, and my boyfriend had to drive home to Houston after this, so when we ordered our drinks, we emphasized no liquor, and that we were driving. Before we both received our drinks, we were talkative, respectful, we walked around just to take pictures, because those are the type of people we are. We receive our drinks, we instantly start to feel nauseous, I still remember the second I couldn't feel my face anymore, and it began to feel numb, my boyfriend couldn't feel his entire body, and he was the one driving. The restaurant replied, and expressed how they asked around, and there was no liquor in our drinks. If you did something illegal, and was asked about it, and that was your only form of income, some people will lie, and if they already spiked my drink, are we going to pretend these people are the kind of people who aren't? The restaurant should be held accountable, and I have been ordering virgin drinks, and drinks without liquor for 19 years without feeling these feelings once. I know what I felt, I know what we both went through, we felt the same things, and experienced the same body functions. Telling me how the drink is prepared, then telling me what I tasted? Is very sad, no apology, just a lie, and no justice. I have tried many Shirley Temples that are made different ways, and if I receive the first drink, and the free one tastes like a whole different drink. That will never add up. We stopped by Terra on an empty Thursday evening. This was our first time visiting Eataly and the restaurants in there. Our server was very inattentive and could not answer questions about the menu. We were ignored several times and ran out of water multiple times while the table next to us received plenty of service. Our dishes came out lukewarm and I was not impressed with the quality of the food. My husband ordered lamb and beer skewers and they came out half-warm/half-cold as if they had been sitting for a while. I would not be surprised since our server visited our table a total of 3 times. My mushroom parpadelle was fine, but for $33 I was expecting a much better served portion with some accompaniment. The bread here is $10 for 4 chunks of dry sourdough and a pat of butter. Sheesh. I really wanted to like the place as it was recommended to us but I cannot stress it enough - it is not worth it to pay for "ambience". Next time we'll check out the pizza/pasta restaurant downstairs...or head over to north Italia instead lol read more

We've been to Terra may times before and always enjoyed the food and experience, so when deciding to have my wife's birthday there with a total of 12 people, we thought we would have the same experience, we did not. Trying to book the reservation was an issue. I tried using OpenTable but it wouldn't let me due to party size and it said I needed to call in. I called in and the hostess I spoke with said they couldn't make the reservation and that I would need to give a specific person a call that dealt with parties. No one picked up but I left a voicemail and figured they would get back to me but nothing, I tried calling and leaving voicemails multiple times to no response over the course of multiple days. I finally found an email form to fill out to book an event and I filled out the info which included that it was a birthday and I got a confirmation email that it was booked. We got there and checked in with a cake for my wife's birthday. Upon being seated at our table, the our waiter asked us if we were told of that cake policy, for which we hadn't, we weren't giving an information aside from the birthday party celebration being booked. He told us it was $5 per person to have our own cake whether we cut and served it or they do it for us. Having a $5 cover charge per person for cake it absolutely ridiculous! On top of that we were never informed prior to our dinner tonight that they only do a single check for our entire table. Finding out both of these things as we are sitting down for our dinner was very frustrating. The food was great but, a male server came over asking if we wanted shredded cheese on our pasta and multiple people said yes. As he was grating cheese onto one of the women's pasta dishes, they asked him what was longest someone has him shred cheese on their food and then he said in a very off putting way that "no one lasts longer that he does" which made everyone very uncomfortable as it was very obvious what he was insinuating. It was probably around 9pm when we started taking photos with everyone. The restaurant closes at 11pm on Saturdays; but as we were trying to get photos of everyone that came, the manager kept coming over asking us when we want to get the cake cut and if we were getting table side gelato; we kept telling her we we wanted to finish taking for photos first. But she kept coming back asking the same thing over and over. It felt like they just wanted us to leave. We tell them we're ready for cake and with plenty of time before close. All they did was put the candles on it and then cut it once we finished singing happy birthday. But that for an extra $5 people person, that is just crazy, even if we would have had our own plates and forks they would have still charged us for bringing the cake. We finally get the check and it took us probably about an 40 minutes to figure it out and how to split it as it wasn't itemized, and gratuity was added already they could only take up to four cards. While trying to figure the amounts owed, the manager kept walking around us and makes a back handed question on if we were still having issues and making us sound like we were dumb and so we explained the issue and then she was like oh yeah that's just our policy and that the machine couldn't do more than four ways even though they could have grouped them together to make it easier to pay and understand the bill. And then she laughed as she walked away from our table as we sat in frustration trying to leave. All in all I don't think I would EVER recommend booking an event here as it was just too unprofessional from the start and having hidden fess for bringing cake and then issues with staff really left the entire group feeling frustrated, uncomfortable and with a bad taste in their mouths. It's really unfortunate that we had so many issues and can't image anyone in our group returning again after this experience. read more

I was very let down by our experience at Terra. We had heard many people praising this restaurant and finally tried it. Inside, the ambiance is overall well done with decent lighting and decor. We started off with the sour dough. The bread was overall a little bit dry but we did enjoy the smoky flavors in the bread and butter. We then got the cavatelli and strip steak. The steak was fairly chewy for my liking and could have been seasoned more. The cavatelli was generally enjoyable but I have had better pasta for the money. Things that brought the rating down further include the service (slow and not the most welcoming) and the fact that a large daddy long leg appeared on the wall next to us mid way through the meal which I had to remove with my napkin. Overall, I felt that this restaurant was generally very poor value given its high price tag and was lowered by the insect and poor service. read more

We have been in several years but it is still very good. We went on a date night, Saturday night after we did some shopping in the mall. To start we had the burrata, insalata estiva, and crudo di pesce. Everything had such great flavor. Out of the three items my favorite was the insalata estiva. They didn't put to much dressing and there were big pieces of romane lettuce. The crudo was a little different than how other places make it was ok. It not my favorite. The burrata was very good. We booked for Mother's Day brunch this Sunday (Mother's Day). The website advertises a nice brunch, and we were excited for brunch! We called twice and were reassured that the Mother's Day menu would be brunch. When we arrived this morning, we were told that there was not going to be a normal brunch menu as they normally do, and that they will only have 2 items that are brunch. Only serving their dinner menu besides that. We were so upset since we came in at 10:30 am expecting to eat breakfast/brunch items and had to eat dinner items in the morning. Very inconvenient !!!!! After looking at the menu, it seemed like they had some decent selections so we decided to try it anyway. At the time, they had some oysters and prawns available on the menu that sounded quite appetizing - but turned out to be extremely small portions for the price, as did the pasta. While the quality of food was just "ok", the quantity (or lack of) was nothing to cry home about. Service was otherwise good on this dead Sunday afternoon. I probably wouldn't come back just based on the poor value alone unless they brought back the buffet option. I enjoyed my meal at Terra and the location is absolutely gorgeous. Their wood fired selection is a treat. They have a lot of different options with the wood fired grill that make for an experience for the taste buds. We ordered the tomahawk to share, but I will say that it wasn't my favorite. I love steak, but the tomahawk was very gristly and not a good cut of meat. We kinda regretted the tomahawk and should have just stuck with the filet. I felt the highlight of the meal was the pastas. Perfectly made and well sauced, I enjoyed it over the steak! And their sides were excellent as well. Those smashed potatoes were bites of heaven lol. I couldn't stop eating them. This is a great place to have a nice rooftop dinner, and they also have an outdoor seating, although it was too cold when we went. Some of the other restaurants at Eataly have similar pasta menu, so if you wanna try the pastas, they are usually at any of the other restaurants too. Disappointing. Our server was clearly new. No shame in that. He did enter the wrong information for our table. Two of four orders were incorrect. The discussed allergy was overlooked. It was bad all around. He apologized and went to rectify the situation. Well done. Six employees were kitchen adjacent, clearly discussing how to handle the situation. One was the manager of the day. Their solution was to place the two correct pasta dishes back in the oven (under a heat lamp?) and re-fire the two incorrect dishes. Did the manager bother to check on us? No. Did the manager comp our apps or drinks to assuage the situation? No. Were we happy with our entrees? No (50% of us were OK with them). Did the serve offer us dessert? Yes. Did we accept? I have been to Terra at Eataly a couple of times now and have loved both visits. I've been in Eataly a number of times, but had yet to sit down at this restaurant. Wow, was I missing out! This pizza is now at the top of my list for gluten-free. This last time I went, I brought my son. He enjoyed the regular style pizza while I had some penne gluten-free pasta. It was also delicious! I would have gotten the pizza again, but they were sold out, being the day after Mother's Day. I literally drove 45 minutes to eat the pizza. Next time I will call to make sure they have it. I really loved the ambiance of this spot for brunch. There were a lot of plants, and the natural lighting was also bountiful.
