The food at Ocean Prime was absolutely great, but unfortunately, the service was HORRIBLE. We waited an unreasonable amount of time for everything throughout the meal. We were celebrating a birthday, and when we asked for the complimentary birthday cake, it took 35 minutes to come out. At that point, we were tired of waiting and decided to leave without it. After we left, they actually left me a voicemail asking if I still wanted the cake! The only bright spot was Denise, who was absolutely wonderful and provided great service. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care. Unfortunately, the overall experience was extremely disappointing, especially for a restaurant at this price point. Stopped by Ocean Prime for a business dinner and I really enjoyed this meal. When you arrive you can park in the garage next to the restaurant and they'll validate you parking ticket. You can also valet your car if you'd rather not park in the garage. To enter the restaurant you'll walk into the office building and then locate the ocean prime entrance. The vibe inside the restaurant was giving a high end l, upscale and sophisticated feeling. To start I ordered the Berries & Bubbles (Belvedere Organic Lemon & Basil Vodka, Marinated Blackberries, Fresh Lemon Juice, Piper Sonoma Brut, Dry Ice Smoke) which was excellent and the server brought fresh bread to the table. I also ordered a cup of the lobster bisque (with butter poached lobster) which was so good, rich, and creamy. We also split a spicy tuna roll (Avocado, Scallion, Jalapeño, Shiso) which was not too spicy and was excellent as an appetizer. For my main entree I ordered the 10 oz filet Oscar style. The filet cut like butter and was excellent. For my second drink I ordered the bourbon old fashioned (four roses small batch bourbon, Aperol, simple syrup, bitters) which was so smooth and probably my favorite drink of the evening. Lastly, I had to order a slice of the ten layer carrot cake (Layered with cream cheese icing and pineapple syrup) as I usually don't find carrot cake on menus and it's one of my favorite desserts. I went to an event at Ocean Prime and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I ordered a drink because why not? The waiter recommended the black orchid and the recommendation was on point. The food was outstanding. The appetizers were family style. The only thing that wasn't a hit was the ravioli stuffed with goat cheese. No one at my table really cared for that. Everything else was great. And of course, the entrées were really good. We all took our desserts to go. Oh, I will say that the salad was starting to brown which was very unexpected for Ocean Prime. Five stars all the way! I haven't been here in a few years, and am so so thrilled that my friend recommended their Happy Hour after our 4-mile walk. Here is the scoop...one of the ONLY places in uptown to offer HH 7 days a week, 4-6p. We each stated with a martini (1/2 off during HH), then we each had a glass of their Malbec (also 1/2 off during HH). They offer a wonderful selection on their appies (again 1/2 off!) we split the wagyu burger, which arguably is THE BEST burger in all of Dallas! This spot is elegant, clean and very well maintained...looks brand new inside and the ladies room was sparkling. Now, the best part...the service. Small quirk this time is that we visited for a very early dinner around 4:45 on Friday. It was essentially empty, just one other couple in the dining room beside us. Our server offered a halibut special which sounded so delicious, so my husband and I both ordered it. The server then returned to let us know they had "just sold the last halibut special". We understand this happens all the time, it just seemed super weird that they sold out of the special before dinner even started and the restaurant was essentially empty. We opened with the ocean roll, crab cakes, and tequila old fashioneds. The ocean roll was the one bright spot; delicate, fresh, and actually seasoned. Everything after that went downhill fast. The crab cakes were giving Saltgrass on an off night..heavy on filler, light on crab, and completely forgettable. Then came the entrées. The Chilean sea bass looked like a showstopper; perfect sear, beautiful presentation--and tasted like absolutely nothing. Not under-seasoned... unseasoned. The potato purée somehow managed to be both watery and bland, which feels like a choice. The scallops? Same story. Technically flawless sear, zero flavor. It's almost impressive how consistently everything coming off the fish station looked perfect and tasted like air. The pea risotto was aggressively one-note--just peas, no balance, no depth, none of that creamy, cohesive richness risotto is supposed to have. This restaurant was on my list of fancy restaurants to checkout with my husband so I thought my birthday would be a excuse to finally give it a visit. We made a reservation for a Saturday night, we were greeted right away and didn't have to wait to be seated. We started with a couple of old fashioned cocktails, I had the one with tequila and my husband had the traditional one with bourbon. For appetizers, we ordered the Prime Steak Tartare and the Lobster Bisque, both were delicious in different ways but for me the Lobster Bisque won that round. For the main course, I had the Chilean Sea Bass with broccolini, pearl onions, potato puree, and truffle vinaigrette. My husband had the Lobster Linguine, he said that he really enjoyed the dish and was glad that it had plenty of lobster. The Chilean Sea Bass dish was very light and fresh. We love brussels sprouts so we ordered those too. Lastly, I decided to order the Chocolate Torte for my birthday dessert and unfortunately it was a mistake. The flavor of the dessert was to intense for me so my husband ended eating more than me. With all chocolate cakes it's a hit or miss for me, if the chocolate flavor wasn't so intense, I would had enjoyed it. The beef carpaccio sushi and tempura rolls were pretty good. Calamari was okay but the topping was overwhelming in a bad way. I was missing the cheese flavor which would also bring an element of saltiness. We finished the night with a butter cake and it was honestly awful. The person I was coming with went to another location, and even though the restaurant was about to close, they allowed her to come in after hours so we could continue with our reservation. I truly appreciated that, as it could have easily led to a canceled outing. The food overall was good. For the price, I had some reservations -- I felt the steak was a bit overpriced being over charred and lacking flavor and the sides were a little bland. That said, our waiter was amazing, the service was excellent, and the restaurant itself is beautiful. I would highly recommend it and wouldn't mind returning. read more

The food was absolutely delicious. I got the Willow Bend Lamb Chops. The roasted garlic thyme jus was scrumptious. I asked for my lamb chops to be cooked medium and they were cooked perfectly. i got the lobster mac and cheese as my side. The lobster was plentiful. The mac and cheese was savory. I love Ocean Prime, I've visited many locations and I know what to expect in regards to quality and service. While the quality of everything was up to par, this location fell short in service. I'm not sure if I just caught the wrong server or if I appeared to not be important enough to deserve the same attention other patrons were receiving. I was not offered popcorn, I had to ask while everyone around me was offered. I asked about specials I was told there were none, yet it was happy hour which I knew but thought it was odd to not mention. The folk 2 seats down from me were told about happy hour and what was included. I ordered the crab cake which is always top notch! I also had the gouda tots which I would not order again, they were just ok and not worth it. This location validates parking for the garage which I loved and service from everyone else was good. My drink was just ok too, made by the server who ignored me so it was nothing special. I sat in the lounge which is a nice vibe but could use a deep cleaning, the bar lamps were extremely dusty. I love that their happy hour is daily and when I visit Dallas again it's likely I'll come back with hopes of a better service experience. read more

They provide free glasses of champagne and/or moscato if you are celebrating a special occasion (birthday, anniversary, etc.) The dining room is dim and intimate and the background music is not too loud; you can talk privately with your party without being distracted by other patrons. The drinks were amazing!!! Lots of fun concoctions to choose from at the bar. Cons - food was just okay. The steak was under seasoned and in need of salt; but there are no salt/pepper shakers on the tables. Also my risotto was not fully cooked and was crunchy. If I'm paying $220+ dollars for a meal, I expect the food to be cooked to perfection. Also... the roasted brussel sprouts were terrible!!! Five star valet service from Dwight Waited at the hostess stand, looking around, saw a few wait staff in the distance and they kept on with their routine. After at least 5 minutes, we walked into the lounge and asked if we could seat ourselves or if there was a hostess who could help us. April from the lounge was extremely helpful and willing to sit us anywhere we wanted to sit. Since we knew we could get service in the lounge, we sat there and did have 5 star service from both April and Travis who were sharing the room. We started with two jumbo crab cakes to share as an appetizer ($27/ea). They were good but not as amazing as they have the reputation for, at least not at this lunch, and certainly not for the price point. I ordered the SEA SCALLOPS which was 3 scallops over Parmesan Risotto, English Peas, Citrus Vinaigrette ($27) - 8/10 My Dad ordered a cup of the lobster bisque which he enjoyed along with the BLACKENED TEXAS RED FISH that's served over Corn Spoon Bread, Swiss Chard, Corn Emulsion ($24) My Mom enjoyed her massive SHELLFISH "COBB" SALAD with Shrimp, Lobster, Bacon, Egg, Blue Cheese, Avocado ($29) They also bring complimentary bread to the table. We came here on 1.05.23 - a very busy Friday night. While waiting for our table, we sat at the bar and enjoyed some very delicious cocktails. My linguine was beyond next-level - it was elevated way above that. There was no skimping on either lobster or pasta, and it fills you up quickly. My lady loved her dinner, as well. We couldn't eat another bite until Francisco got us with his mention of a Peanut Butter Pie. Oh, hell yes. This pie was so decadent and delicious. I wasn't even hungry but did some serious damage to it. The flavor was beyond compare. My favorite thing I ate? The pasta. For my lady it was the Bisque. We came here to celebrate my Dad's birthday last week and it was a really good choice. From the valet to the hostess to our server the service was truly amazing. We walked into a dimmly lit restaurant that felt relaxing and welcoming. Our waiter came over a few minutes after we sat down which gave us a little time to look over the menus and at least order a drink. I am a firm believer of giving me a few minutes before coming to ask if I need anything because of course I do not know what I want as soon as I sit down. We all ordered from the restaurant week menu. The steak and salmon were very good, but the seabass was a bit dry. My friend told the waiter, and he swapped it for the salmon instead which she really enjoyed. My steak was cooked well, but it cook have been cooked bit less for my liking. The sorbet was amazing. Valet parking was easy to use and the rate was $5 up to three hrs, and $15 for three hrs or more. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and exactly what you expect of a high end establishment. For our appetizers we had the seafood tower and calamari. The seafood tower was underwhelming, especially the very small oysters used. The calamari on the other hand was delicious and it had a Thai flavor that accentuated the dish. I started my meal with the lobster bisque and the soup was outstanding. I wish the lobster pieces were a little bigger, but overall the soup was top three all time for me. They do pour the soup over the lobster table side, which is a nice touch. For my entree I had the New York strip with a blue cheese crust. The steak was perfectly cooked, but the crust was a bit overdone. I would have preferred a cheesier texture over the crunchier option they use here. We tried numerous sides throughout the meal and the spinach was the star. The brussel sprouts were pretty bland and the asparagus was thin compared to other high end restaurants. Service overall was good and the staff were very attentive. The bar drinks were inconsistent with heavy pours one round and light pours the others. Overall this is a restaurant I would recommend if you're looking to celebrate a special occasion.
