Great food, but some lapses in quality. we joined the wait list on Yelp and didn't have to wait too long before being seated. I ordered an orange juice, which was just standard no-pulp OJ. They only have one size which is quite large, so I had to take most of it to go. I had the Everyday Breakfast Sampler with Eggs, Sausage, a Bagel and Pancakes. The eggs were very average. I think they turned out exactly as if I had cooked them, so no new ground being broken here. Tue sausage was okay, but a bit on the greasy side. The bagel was average too, but the housemade jelly was great! The pancakes were fine too and even better that it's served with real butter. I sampled some fries from my mom's plate and those were top-notch! Very good fries. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was like your standard diner. Overall, the food here was good, but the OJ, bagel and eggs were quite average.
Maple Leaf Diner offers a few traditional Canadian dishes with Texan portion sizes. The majority of the menu actually features classic American dishes. The food itself was enjoyable. However, the Canadian theme and novelty of the presentation make Maple Leaf Diner what it is. If I were a local, I couldn't imagine eating here often, but it's definitely a great spot to hit once in a while or if you're from out of town.
Great place for breakfast or Lunch. Chicken fried chicken breakfast or lunch is my go to, but also had the pot roast. Come hungry!
I got the chicken bacon and waffles. Huge plate it's kind of a meme. The flavor fatigue hit fast. The waffles are good. The chicken was a bit overdone for me. The cream puff was a nice touch but just so incredibly sweet. Service was just okay.
Such a good reuben!! Big fan. Ordered it a couple more times after this. Poutine was good but very salty, as expected.
The food was great, the waiter was really kind. The place is comfortable and great. Very busy on a Saturday morning but we still only had to wait 15 minutes so they are hustling those tables! Only thing I can say to improve was that the inside was a bit confusing. Everyone was waiting around and no one was out front. While we were seated, a couple was wondering through the inside unsure on where to go. Other than that it was SO good! They are totally busy but worth the wait.
It's been a while since I reviewed Maple Leaf Diner. Since my last review, the COVID pandemic is over so this review focuses on Maple Leaf Diner's current interior. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - There is a new remodeled interior (since my last review). Maple Leaf Diner is still in the same location, but the COVID friendly walls have been replaced by traditional booths and seating. There's more decoration on the walls too - especially if you walk down the hall to use the bathroom. Here you can read all the magazine articles that have written about Maple Leaf Diner. 1 Star. Service - Tip: Get in line using the Yelp App. Maple Leaf Diner is extremely popular on weekends, and if you don't get in line, you'll have to wait from 1 - 2 hours. Once you're in, you're greeted with smiles and attentive servers. 1 Star. Food - Maple Leaf Diner is known for its Canadian owners and pure Maple Leaf syrup. So if season pumpkin pancakes are on the menu, ORDER THEM. I did, and I was rewarded with a soft, fluffy stack of thick pancakes with a hint of cinnamon. I was given two small bowls of maple syrup, and I used them both. I also ordered the poutine. Just like in Canada, the poutine had fresh, hot fries smothered in brown gravy and cheese curds. It may sound weird, but it tastes delicious. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes, because there's nothing like Maple Leaf Diner. It's true, I could visit another pancake house and enjoy their pancakes, but there's no mistaking the Canadian charm and delicious food of the Maple Leaf Diner. See you next weekend! 1 Star.
The search is over! I've been looking for the best Chicken Fried Steak in Dallas, and I think Maple Leaf Diner has everyone beat. The batter is seasoned perfectly and stays crispy without falling apart--a rare find. My fiancé and I also shared a half-order of the poutine; it was delicious, addictive, and the ideal size for two people to split. The service is exactly what you want from a diner: friendly, attentive, and quick. If you're craving comfort food, this is the spot.
My boyfriend and I came here after my 10k race. We waited for 45 min (heads up, you can get in line virtually in Yelp) before we were seated. Love the atmosphere and the vibe of the place :) We saw how big the portion was, so we ordered 2 dish to split. i especially love the cream puff on top of the chicken, bacon and waffles, other than that, to me, it is kind of standard - nothing too outstanding. But the poutine *mm* - it was my first ever poutine. Heard so much about it but never had it. Better than expected and will definitely order again!!! Anyways, the dish portion is huge. Sharing is the best decision we made.
The ambience is best described as diner diner style (busy & bustling.) We were say immediately upon entering the restaurant and greeted almost within seconds by our server after sitting at the table. I was feeling breakfast and decided to go with something including pancakes. I loved the consistency, I consider myself a pancake conoseur and their pancakes hit the spot. Instead of eggs, I substituted for their breakfast potatoes which came out hot and crispy . I was even more pleased to know they offered turkey sausage as there are some restaurants that only have pork and beef options. So that game a star in my book. Overall, I'd say the meal was very filling, delicious and freshly cooked. Our server was very attentive and kept not only our water cups filled but continued to check on us throughout our time there. Great choice to stop here, as we were fresh off the airplane, coming from the airport and starving !! Way to go Maple Leaf Diner
5 stars all around. I got a half portion of the regular/classic poutine and a raspberry cream cheese cookie. Both were awesome. The poutine was flavorful and the portion size was enough to make me full. The service was great, food came out very quickly and was hot & fresh.
You guys the hype is real. Amazing service and great food at reasonable price. It's a total diner and I highly recommend you guys adding this to your list. The vibe is total old school diner and the service is impeccable! I cannot wait to return. The poutine was great and perfectly salty. The pancakes are fluffy and the waffles were perfect. My friends got cotton candy mimosa and enjoyed every drop. Add this place to your rotation!

Pot roast poutine. Pot roast poutine. Pot roast poutine. Damn, it didn't appear. I was hoping that by repeating it thrice a large dish of their delicious pot roast poutine would suddenly appear. Look, I am not an expert on poutine. The closest I have been to Canada is the Canadian steakhouse at Disney and I have a couple of part-time Canadian neighbors. I am sure there are plenty of people on Yelp who are experts on all things Canadian because they did an Ancestry test that said they are .089% Canadian. But I digress. The pot roast poutine is excellent. I am a dude from New Orleans. In New Orleans, we have french fries with cheese and roast beef gravy. It is the national dish of Louisiana. Maybe that is stretching it but I love it. The pot roast poutine here is nearly that good. Trust me on this. So now that I have raved about the poutine, what about everything else? Well, I had a Reuben that was good but nowhere near as good as the poutine. They do have a massive chicken sandwich that looked good too. Will you have to wait? Probably. Is it worth it? If you get the poutine it is. Parking is easy and service is great. For a pro tip, check the Yelp app for the waitlist. You can save yourself some waiting time that way. read more

We went to Maple Leaf Diner for a late lunch with my daughter and granddaughter. We used the Yelp waitlist which is highly recommended. During peak hours, it can be a two hour wait! We started out with a Bloody Cesar for my husband and a Canadian Whiskey Sour for me. He said it was a refreshing change from a Bloody Mary. The Whiskey Sour was refreshing with a little sweet. Then we had the Pierogies and Southern Poutine to start out with. Both were delightful. The pierogies were very tasty, with perfectly cooked bacon & onions. I'm not a big gravy fan so I didn't think I'd like the poutine. I'm so glad I tried it because it was delicious! My daughter had the bacon burger which was perfectly cooked to order and yummy. Even my granddaughter's chicken strips and fries were great! I had the stuffed cabbage and my husband had the English Pot roast in a Bonnet. The fries as my side were fresh and delicious. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and the cabbage rolls were great. My husband enjoyed his pot roast as well. Our service was great and oh yeah, the coffee was exceptional as well. This is my first meal in Dallas and couldn't have had a better time. Wait time was much shorter than what we were told initially. The servers were very nice and quick. The bakery makes the place feel cozy. Couldn't recommend more. read more

The online reservation system is life-saving as you can start the wait from home and leave when you're about to get seated. On weekends, the wait can easily be over 1.5 hours. Seated promptly when we arrived. Our server was extremely attentive given how busy it was. Food came out quickly. Definitely order the chicken, bacon and waffles - the chicken was kind of dry but it is a unique dish. The eggs benedict was standard: nothing special but what else do you expect with breakfast food. I give this place 5 stars overall because of their friendly service, ability to handle a lot of customers well, and good food. Highly recommend. read more

We absolutley loved this place!! The food was delicious!! I especially loved the cheese curds, so authentic. Our service was wonderful. Even though they were super busy the place was very clean. Came in for brunch. Just make sure you get on the waitlist because on the weekend especially it will be quite a bit of a wait. It was worth it though. The food was delicious and came out quick. Stop what you're doing and get down to Maple Leaf diner asap! Hands down the best Bacon chicken and waffles I've ever had. The dish was prepared mile high and full of bacon. They even added two cream puffs on top with extra love. The staff made me feel right at home and even told me their favorite options as well the background story of the establishment. This hole in the wall makes you feel like you're back on the farm eating fresh food prepared with care. The restaurant is clean, inviting and has tables big enough for the entire family. We had gone on a weekend, definitely should get on the waitlist ahead of time or you'll be facing an hour plus wait. Restaurant was packed with plenty of people and the smells of food were amazing. Even though it was busy on a Sunday during brunch the service was rather quick and attentive. There is a lot on the menu that is for sure. If you're visiting the area I'd recommend going outside your comfort zone and try something new. I got the country sausage waffle and a half poutine shared with my wife. This was hands down the best breakfast I've had in a while at a restaurant. The portion size was definitely worth the price and flavourful to boot. read more

Love this place! Atmosphere of comfort and casual. Can never ho wrong with their Chicken Bacon and Waffles, but had to go with the Diner Choice Omelette w/bacon,sausage, onion, spinach and pepper jack cheese. Husband got the Chicken Fried Chicken n eggs. Looked delicious, no complaints from him! Service is always good, everyone is so nice! Can't leave without some Cream Puffs, they are the BEST!! I got the little mini pies an Apple and Almond Joy, then she GAVE me the Coconut Cream so I would have one of each! Aren't they the cutest:) read more

I had a build your own omelet and my other half had the Denver skillet. The food was great, we were so hungry we didn't take photos but the food was delicious, the service was good, and the server gave us top-tier service. First visit after see many great reviews. Noon on a Thursday. Got eggs Benedict and side order cheese curds. Service was quick and efficient, but eggs were bland. With large dose of hot sauce made it better. Cheese curds were tough and just ok. Was disappointed food not better. Cafe was nice,clean and friendly. Was full , no line. Come here hungry cause if you don't you are going to have left overs for a week! My only suggestion is that you make reservations ahead of time, cause if not you are going to wait 20-40 minutes to sit. Wow is all I can say about this place. Everything that we ordered here was fantastic! The service was over the top notch with recommendations and attentiveness. I would hope so right, I mean it is a Canadian themed restaurant. We absolutely loved this place. Long wait but we did the join waitlist option from Yelp as we drove so we only waited 10-15min after checking in with the host stand. Our server was on point, so fantastic! The blueberry cream cheese scone is amazing, we dug in too fast to get a pic. This place was well worth the wait. I could only eat about a quarter of my meal but I'm taking it home for dinner. read more

We have gluten-free toast, and gluten-free French toast in addition to the things that are naturally gluten free. Our menu is made from scratch in house so there are no mystery ingredients in our menu items! Cabbage rolls.. etc are gluten free.

Not on a regular basis.

The wait typically starts around 9:30ish; if you can arrive before then you should be seated right away or shortly thereafter. Also, anytime between 3pm-9pm the wait isn’t as long and breakfast is served all day, everyday, thanks!
