We brought a party of 12 for a special occaision. Our server, Serina did an absolutely fabulous job taking care of us. She is real pro. I have never had better service for a large party like this. Everyone enjoyed their food and the experience. The restaurant is clean and the decore is classy. Several of us had the surf and turf special. The steak was perfectly cooked and reasonably priced. The other dishes looked very well prepared. They also have a good variety of Italian wines. I would definitely go there again. read more

Went here for dinner a couple nights ago with my coworkers, very nice and welcoming atmosphere. Although the service was a bit slow, our server was very apologetic and brought us an additional bread basket. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms (meat filling was delicious) and bruschetta (pretty good) for appetizers. For the main, I ordered a filet mignon, cooked to medium perfectly. The steak was delicious and paired well with the vegetables and wild mushrooms. Mashed potatoes were quite dry and bland though, unfortunately. The appetizers and entrees at the restaurant were quite good. The cocktails were just as good as they didn't cheap out on the alcohol. The problem wasn't the food. The problem was with the waiting staff. For a restaurant that serves specialty entrees from $25-$55+, you would expect some decency from the waiting staff. Our server was not pleasant. No smiles, nothing. We just thought he had a bad day. We didn't know better and went back the next night. Same behavior except worse. Besides the usual rudeness, he was rushing the plates off the table and literally dropped his elbow on my shoulder as he reached over to grab the plate. We found our old favorite Mancuso's again! We both got our long time favorite dish (Manicotti and Lasagna) and they were as wonderful as ever. Tried some new to us appetizers (Ahi and Stuffed Mushrooms) and we really enjoyed them. The Ahi was perfect and the Stuffed Mushrooms were great but heavy. We were fortunate it wasn't a game night so Mancuso's wasn't too busy so perfect for our date night and well worth our 30 minute drive. Can't wait to go back and try some other things on the menu. I took my fiancé here last night for Valentine's Day. The GPS directions were incredibly confusing and led us to the opposite side of the street on a lower level to closed elevators. We had to check the directory to figure out where it was. I did enjoy the ambience and the view of it being on the second floor once we were sat. Service was extreeeemely slow. It took about 10-15 minutes for someone to even come over to get a drink order and probably another 10 minutes to get said drinks. We ordered our appetizer and food which did come out in a very nice timely fashion. We started with the stuffed mushrooms which were absolutely delicious and stuffed with sausage and garlic and topped with basil in a cream sauce. I ordered the salmon with the broccolini and linguine. I really enjoyed my food, it was a very nice portion of salmon. My fiancé ordered the cannelloni and was disappointed. He had ordered a second drink before our food came out and did not receive the drink until after he was done eating to which it was spilled all over his lap. The server apologized and offered to bring back some rags and took another 10-15 minutes to bring those. She was very nice and I'm sure it was busy being that it was Valentine's Day but everything was just slow. By the time we got home both of us had started feeling sick to our stomach after dinner. All in all that's why I'm giving this experience 3 stars. This was an average Italian restaurant. The sauce was bland and the fish was dry and chewy. My main issue was the service. We'll one waiter in particular. I went to Mancuso's with a large party. Now I understand that dealing with/serving a very large table can be tough but this waiter was flat out rude, condescending and thought his s**t didn't stink. He would huff and puff like a child if someone wasn't listening to him or not ordering fast enough. Numerous people at the table noticed this as well. It became a joke every time the guy came over, we would say "ohhhh he's going to get mad again" Honestly there are much, much better options in this area. Skip this place. read more

I went with wife for anniversary, I ordered Lasagna, which was fantastic, she ordered the lobster. She is not a complainer, but the first bit she spit in her napkin as she could not fully chew it. Using a serrated butter knife, it could not be cut, they didn't give us a steak knife. She did her best to eat some of it, then I tried a piece and it was like eating dried silicone pulled from around your bath tub. It was terrible. I told the waitress, who was fantastic, she did not offer any solution at all. When she returned to check on us 20 minutes later, she said we could have a free desert. At that point, I had gathered all of the lobster meat onto a small plate and said this is not any good, and we do not want a desert, this is not worth 65.00, which is what it costs that night. She said she will go speak to the manager. I did not see waitress for about 20 minutes, by then my wife left to go outside to get some air, I had long finished my meal and the table was cleared. Not once did the manager come to my table. The waitress finally came back and said "well because you ate some of it, we can only take half off the price". Well, the part we ate was still in the napkin. Every cook makes mistakes, but it is all how the manager handles it. This was not how to handle it. Let this be a teaching moment to you, Manager of Mancuso's, come to my table and tell me you are very sorry, and that you comped the lobster." As it stands I paid 32.50 (the non comped half) for the opportunity to chew on your lobster for about 10 minutes, then spit it in the napkin. Then a small mount of rice and 3 pieces of vegetables. For 32.50, what a bargain. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN YOUR RESTAURANT AGAIN!, as good as the lasagna was, you blew it with the handling of the lobster. If you are going to put something on your menu that is 65.00, you might want to make sure you know how to prepare it, and if you don't. you might want to make sure you know how to handle the complaints about it.!! read more

Awful experience, Ordered for pickup and they forgot my pepsi, it was only because of a nice lady running outside to find me that I got the pepsi. The pepsi was leaking all over my hand as they did not have adequate cups available for some reason. Then, after I get back to my room to eat the pasta I had ordered, the utensils they had promised on the phone were nowhere to be found. As well, their idea of bolognese sauce is taking meatballs and crushing them up. The pepsi was filled halfway with ice because they are obviously the cheapest people in all of phoenix. Obviously this place is a failed attempt at even acting as if it is italian. I would reccomend no one goes here, please god, allow them to go out of business, I would like to see the people who run this place suffer. read more

EXCELLENT RESTAURANT!!! My hubby and I got a night out on the town and made reservations here for dinner. The ambiance is romantic relaxing. Our waiter was knowledgeable and urged us to take our time & enjoy our appetizer and wine which he recommended a fabulous wine La creama ! Unfortunately I do not remember his real name as we quickly made friends with his great personality and found out his nick name "el guedo" and quickly started calling him by that. They made me puke, because the waitress did not listen to my dietary needs, and the dish supposedly only had a little bit of the offending ingredient. (And no, the entree was not comped). I do NOT like throwing up, especially out at a nice date restaurant, and now will feel a bit off for the rest of the night from eating that. Pros, or why I left more than one star: Fantastic Caprese salad. There aren't a lot of bad Caprese salads out there, but theirs is especially outstanding. Attentive waitstaff. The even split our appetizer, the aforementioned Caprese salad, onto two plates so we didn't have to reach over the table. Cappuccino was above average. They gave good phone directions. My friends and I were attending a The Justin Timberlake concert across the street and went to make reservations 3 weeks prior. We discovered almost every place fully booked, except this one. It all makes sense now. We were "greeted" at the door by a woman who awkwardly stared at us, and then kind of pointed us in the direction of the other hostess. We were then greeted by the server. He informed us that he h had some other things to take care of and then would come back to get drinks. When he returned some time later, he looked at the youngest lady in our party of 6, and rudely asked (as he took it upon himself to flip her menu to another page) "Are you even old enough to drink?" It was all downhill from there. We laughed the entire time at how rude and awkward our service was. While ordering, my friend asked if she could have a different side, to which he informed us that they don't do substitutions on event nights and they were far too busy to do so. I can totally understand that, however, there were 2 problems. 1) There were MAYBE 5 other tables seated at the time, and 2) my other friend commented that she was planning on ordering double veggies instead of potatoes, to which he informed her that this substitution in fine. We were all extremely confused. The food and drinks: The drinks weren't horrible, but nothing great. My friend did order a lemon drop martini, and it was PINK. Pink? Yes, pink. We came to the conclusion that it was vodka and pink lemonade, as it was unbearably sweet and she left more than half on the table. I was very happy with my linguini and clams. The calamari was horrible and tasted like it was out of a box (not to mention it was served on top of a bed of greasy tortilla chips with a side of pico de gallo). My friend's median-rare steak was medium well, but she said was good. Her double side of veggies was just green and yellow squash and the serving was about the same size as the regular size serving on my other friend's plate. Would I give this place another try? Possibly. Maybe it was a rough night with the concert, but the service was just so horrible, awkward and rude that we were still talking about it on the way home from the concert. read more

Balls. Yes . I am writing a review that starts off all about Balls. Yes. Balls. Mancuso's is located in the downtown part of Phoenix near Chase Field and The Talking Stick Arena. You may have to look a little to find it within the enclave of other building fronts of the Collier Building , but you will and when you do, it will be worth it. Now, despite this review starting off about Balls, the MEATBALL, type of balls, mind you! Mancuso's is a very classy , intimate Italian place. Down home authentic Italian. But let's get back to the Balls. In the BallRoom the most amazing meatballs are made: succulent , amazing and so yummy that you can't just have one. They are on Mancuso's Happy Hour from 4-7pm and I highly recommend you sample as many as you can prior to moving into the dining room later for dinner .. but maybe you just want to fill up on these amazing Ball Room Balls. Of course you may be stuffed if you do! For $5 you get two BIG balls made of Veal,Beef & Pork, Turkey or add a few bucks and get a special Bacon Wrapped Shrimp Ball(s). Then, add a choice of sauce : Marinara ; Arrabbiata; Alfredo or Pesto. They are served with a generous serving of Parmesan / Garlic Toast. Amazing for dipping up that sauce! IF you didn't want to leave this big ambient Ball Room , add a side of pasta or salad or veggies and quinoa for $4 ! The drink specials are also amazing : $7.50 Martinis / 1/2 priced Margs/ Wines by the Glass $3 off / Bottles of Beer $2 off and $5 Wells.. there is a great selection of mixology drinks and a great wine and beer list. The bartender , Pai, has been with the Mancuso family for a LONG time and even relocated from Bobby's in Scottsdale to this new location downtown. I loved that he could tell you the history of the family and how this location came to be. In fact, the Mancuso family has a pretty long and colorful history in the valley of over 35 plus years and the menus recipes are from Fran's ( one of the owners) mother Agnes' Mancuso and her family from Northern Italy! After we filled up on balls.. we moved into the dining room. Here we started with the Crab Lump Meat Stack a generous portion of fresh crab atop a stack of hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, greens, tomatoes and asparagus with a light dressing. I'm picky about crab being in Arizona and this was super fresh and great for sharing. My dinner entree was the Baked Meat Lasagna and although a tad heavy on the salt , it was a huge portion and like my Gram used to make! RIch, full of cheeses and meat! I couldn't finish it all.. errr maybe I was full of balls! Fran Mancuso oversees the dining , literally she walked around the night I dined here and checked on us; that gives a very homey touch! I was so impressed with Mancuso's and I'm so happy they are in the downtown arena, as I think a place such as this was needed. Perfect location, great ambiance. Lemon drop martini spot on; as was Tito's & soda but how can you mess that up lol? The wedge was....different and tasty; the gnocchi Alfredo was decent but keep in mind I am a dego from Chicago and from a family of 2-5 star chef's so very very picky but the Alfredo was a little less rich and more oily than I prefer and the gnocchi was a tad over cooked but that's a personal taste I like el Dante! Two words.... happy hour! This place has one of the best happy hours in town. First, they validate paring in their garage for 2 hours. Second, they have all of their 'tinis' on special for 7$, and these things are fairly tasty. I tried their tini with fresh brewed espresso in it.... crazy good. Third, they have a ton of food specials. We tried their meatballs (you can choose the meat and the sauce) which come with garlic bread and their risotto. The food is all insanely cheap (e.g. you can get lasagna for 7$). We got the regular pork/beef meatballs in a spicy mushroom sauce, which were very flavorful and large. The risotto of the day was a plain parm risotto, which was simple but tasty. I will 100% return! read more

They treated us very well even though we came in without a reservation for 8 of us including two kids & a baby on a Friday! I used to work at their other restaurant in Kierland (Bobby's) years ago & had never actually been to this location, but I'm glad that we decided to go there, because it was a really great experience overall. The waiter did everything perfectly, brought the kids meals out first (since they were hungry and getting tired) that was a huge help. The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing! The drinks were all correct, he was attentive, everything a waiter should be with no mistakes! Two of our party became sick after eating dinner here: -I told our waiter on ordering that I could not eat cow dairy. When my steak arrived smothered in cream sauce, I sent it back to the kitchen. Judging from the veracity of my illness the last 3 days, they scraped the sauce off the top and re-served the same steak after warming it up. -My colleague was so sick the following morning that she had to cancel her flight home that day. Everyone agreed the vegetable sides were overcooked. To top it off, they added a 20% gratuity pre-signature on the check for a table of 5. While 20% is my standard tip, this was particularly insulting given our waiter's ignorance of the ingredients in dishes. read more

Greatly disappointed by the food. I took my family here before a concert this week. The restaurant is nice and the waitstaff are fine but the food is terrible. When the seared tuna appetizer arrived on a bed of very wilted lettuce pieces we should have known that was a bad sign. The whole meal was disappointing but probably the worst was the paella - it was a bowl of flavorless, greasy rice with bland and unrecognizable vegetables and a few pieces of rubbery, overcooked seafood. The lemon wedge that came with it still had a big produce sticker stuck on it. There is no way the paella is made fresh with how tasteless and overcooked the whole dish is. If I had brought clients to a dinner or lunch like this I would have been embarrassed. Needless to say, but I will not be returning ever. read more

It gave me the perfect excuse to head here with a friend who work in the Collier tower. We started with the fried calamari, which was perfectly cooked and the warmed marinara they served with it was also divine. I ordered the linguini and clams; Jason ordered the eggplant parmesan. First, there were so many clams in my linguini, I mean an insane amount of clams! Not that I'm complaining. Jason said his eggplant parm was out of this world. The garlic bread was heavenly. A decent restaurant for a pre event dinner. About a 2-3 block walk to the arena. Had the bruschetta plate courtesy of a YELP CHECKIN COUPON and crab stack, both delicious. Then the lamb chops which were overcooked and not presented medium rare but still tasty, also the fra Diavola which was very filling. The wine list is diverse but as usual, pricy. No room for desserts but the presentation looked tempting. Service was always there when required. The red wine came at cellar temperature and was decanted as requested.
