My friend and I ordered the khao soi and pad thai and both were so bomb. Highly recommend ordering the tamarind chicken wings because the skin is perfectly crispy on the outside and the inside is nicely cooked and moist. The sauce on the chicken is on a whole other level. We asked for more of the sauce so we could pour it on the pad thai because it was just that good. I also ordered a Thai tea which was also very bomb. This was the first Thai spot I tried when moving to Long Beach. Back then (pre-Covid) I ate meat and would always order their Southern Style Noodles. Absolutely delicious! If you eat chicken, order this. You won't regret it. Their Thai tea is really good as well. I recently went here to celebrate my birthday with friends and chose this spot. I chose the catfish dish and it was great. The dish bursts with flavor. Only drawback is that the fish had bones that I had to remove. I've never had catfish but would have appreciated it if this was stated on the menu. Regardless, was still good and wouldn't knock off a star just for that. Just my personal preference. This used to be my go-to Thai restaurant due to the distance but lately I've been venturing out more to go to Long Beach Thai for their boat noodles and Chiang Rai for their Khao-soi. FYI I preferred noodles soups than pan-fried noodles. I've tried their Khao-soi (northern style curried noodles) which I thought it was really good when I first had it after coming back from Thailand. The price on this is $16 which I feel is almost the same everywhere in CA and not a lot of Thai restaurants offer this dish. Other dishes that I tried was the catfish with curry sauce which was good. The papaya salad was okay. I also got the duck or larb salad(?) which I thought it was on the cusp of bad since it was served with like ONE big piece of cabbage but the protein was good. The worst dish I tried was the lunch special, Thai omelette for $12. I remember calling the restaurant about the ground chicken and they said it's in there. When I checked, it was very TINY and sparingly pieces of ground chicken in a plain omelette. They should update this dish or remove it because it was SO disappointing and sad. read more

We ordered a variety of foods for the table, which I did not partake in because I'm currently on a sad, sad diet, but it looked soooo good when it came out!! I wasn't the one who did the family-style ordering, so I'm not exactly sure what they ordered, but the fried tamarind chicken wings and crispy mee noodles looked fantastic. Eyes were hungry. I was checking out the beverage flight that they offered for $9, which is basically a sample of all their drinks. In the end, you decide what your favorite is, and they'll give you a full-size drink of that one. I love that! I also did not partake in this due to my sad diet. What I DID order was the baked shrimp & glass noodles, which I really enjoyed. It was really tasty and I would order it again if I'm ever in the area. The service was good, and overall, I really liked this restaurant. The prices were really affordable. This is by far some of the BEST Thai food in Long Beach. Food - I ordered the northern curry and when I tell you it was RICH?! It is very layered and flavorful. If you like spicy, don't mess around, just go all the way. The prices are pretty reasonable and allow for you to try a couple different things if you so choose. The service was pretty good. This is not exactly a white table cloth sit down type place, but they are very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. I WILL say that with large crowds and kids, it can get pretty loud in here and the tables in the back are so close together you will feel like you're with a party you're not actually a part of. I find that to be common in most places around the city, so it wasn't a big deal FOR ME. read more

Nestled into the little shopping plaza on the corner of Loma and Broadway, you are going to find a hidden gem of Thai food with a menu containing options that are more uncommonly found at other more mainstay Thai joints. The service is phenomenal and extremely well staffed with very friendly hosts and servers. I highly recommend the fried catfish, papaya salad, and the southern and northern style curry. This very well may be my new favorite Thai spot in the area. My husband and I, along with another friend, had dinner at Manaow. We arrived and were able to sit pretty quickly. I got a Thai iced coffee (extra sweet) and it was perfect. My husband got a Thai iced tea and it was bit too sweet for his liking but he doesn't enjoy sweet drinks like I do. I had a sip and thought it was pretty tasty. Everything we ordered was pretty good. We ordered the Crab cakes first and were surprised to see that the description included crab and minced chicken breast. They were good, especially dipped in the sweet chili sauce. We also got the Crispy Thai Spring Rolls which we good. For an entree I got the Mixed Fried Rice which was a traditional version and very filling. All in all it was good food and good service, the restaurant had a large party come in right after we ordered but it didn't delay our meal. We stopped by Manaow for a late lunch on a random Thursday. It's a cozy little place sandwiched between a laundromat and a liquor store and shares a parking lot with the nearby Lacquered chicken spot. The place is fairly new and seats approximately 30 people. It was only about a third full as we arrived around 1pm, but it can get packed on a busy Friday night or weekend and they utilize an electronic waitlist which is convenient. Tables are close together and there's even long tables for communal seating. It looks like a versatile place you can come in for a quick lunch or a date night dinner. There's good music playing in the background as you choose from a surprisingly large menu. I counted about a dozen different thai street food style appetizers, and almost two dozen main dishes to choose from. There were so many choices we didn't know where to start! Anyways, on to my 3-tier review! Quality: A We decided on 2 appetizers to start - Tamarind Ribs and Tamarind Fried Chicken Wings. The ribs came as 3pcs along with grilled pineapple and shredded carrot served over a sweet tamarind sauce. The ribs were juicy and almost fall-off-the-bone tender. The sweetness of the grilled pineapple and shredded carrots gave a nice balance to the savoriness of the ribs. I could not stop dipping each rib bite in the tamarind sauce! The fried chicken wings were huge and served fully intact. The skin was super crispy and seasoned very well. I could not taste the tamarind as much as I did with the ribs, but we enjoyed them just as much anyway. We decided to share both the Tom Yum soup and the Northern Style Curried noodles so they provided extra bowls for us to share. The Northern Style Curried noodles is a red curry with coconut milk and braised beef with crispy deep fried noodles, red onions, peppers (jalapeño?), and cilantro served with a wedge of lime. It's a very hearty curry soup that had a good amount of noodles that can really make you full if you ate it all by yourself. The spiciness sneaks up on you the more and more you eat. By the 5th-6th spoon of that creamy good soup, I started to get the spice sniffles! It's a perfect dish for the colder weather. The Tom yum soup had would looked like fish cake, chicken, and a lot of fried wontons for texture. It's more on the sour/savory side and you can ask for mild-med-spicy levels. We went mild and it was actually mild (sometimes mild feels medium at other Thai restaurants)! [Note: be sure to either eat the fried wonton quickly (they'll go very soggy quickly in the soup), or remove them to the side and eat them as you slurp your noodles and soup to preserve the crunchiness]. For me there may have been too much fried wontons to my liking. Nonetheless, a solid Tom yum soup. Much lighter broth than the curried noodle soup, so you won't feel overstuffed if you wolf this one down. And to wash it all down we ordered the Drink Sampler which is a shot glass full of their individual drink selections: Tamarind juice with a tajin rim (spicy and very sweet), Limeade with honey (super refreshing), Lemongrass iced tea (way sweeter than expected, almost like candy), Thai iced coffee (strong dark roast with sweet cream), and Thai iced tea (pretty much standard Thai iced tea). At the end we decided to choose the purple colored Limeade with honey because it was perfectly refreshing and the right balance of sour and sweet. Overall the quality of the food was a solid A in my book. Quantity: A The serving sizes of the appetizers and main dishes were about right for 2 people. We were stuffed after finishing everything we could and there was still some soup left. Prices range from $12-17 for most things and the amounts are just right. Service: A+ We were greeted by the host as soon as we walked in and because it was not busy we were seated right away. Our server was attentive and repeated our order to us after taking it down to ensure it was correct. After about 10mins the appetizers started coming out. Once we were near the finish of the apps, our main dishes came out nice and hot. Waters were refilled without having to ask and any additional requests (more napkins, to-go drink container) were quickly fulfilled. Our empty appetizer plates were bussed quickly so that the table wasn't cluttered and made for a smooth dining experience. Great service is synonymous with great experiences so I give them an A+. Overall: A Manaow's large variety of foods give you the broad spectrum of tastes from sour, sweet, savory, salty, and spicy with well prepared ingredients and care. The plate presentation is pleasing to the eye with the amount of food you get. Service is attentive and punctual. We will be coming back sometime to try more things on the menu and I hope to add more great things to write about! Bon appetit! read more

The restaurant is very clean and every other table is blocked off as a COVID precaution. Food: - Tamarind Chicken Wings: Amazing! Super flavorful and perfectly crunchy. 10/10 would purchase again - Garlic Lime Rib-eye Salad: ordered medium spicy, but should have chosen mild as the salad was extremely spicy for both my friend and I - Drunken Noodles: very tasty but also extremely spicy at the medium spice level. This is hands down the best Thai food I've had well since visiting Thailand! It's a small spot tucked into a strip mall, so it's easy to miss, but definitely worth seeking out. The vibe is casual with booths and long bench seating. They don't serve alcohol and don't deliver, but pickup is available. The service is always friendly, and while we've never had to wait, I can see it getting busy during peak times. I would choose Manaow over any Thai restaurant any day. The restaurant is super clean. Usually I don't like chicken, but wow, it was so good and Thinsulin approved, green light. Now, the noodle soups aren't the best I have eaten. It's good, but a bit salty.
