What a meal...actually it was a feast! From the tofu, to the delicious beef and oh the eggplant! So many dishes were had that were shared by such a fun group of people. Everything was as delicious as the next. This spot is small, very small, but don't let that discourage you from staying and dining here. We had so much food and it was only $30 a person. What a deal! Also, you can't beat the location. Steps away from Prince St. and all the hustle and bustle of Main St.

I went to an UYE here on 11/16/25, organized by Yelp Elite Andie. My favorite menu selections were the Sweet and Spicy Tofu, the PI-PA Duck and the Eggplant with Shredded Pork and Salted Fish. The Okra and Belachan Shrimp was a satisfying comfort food. My least favorite selection was the Satay Chicken with Peanut Sauce, the Beef Rendang and the Tom Yum (Seafood Curry Soup). The service was spectacular on a table that seated eight people. Our waitress frequently came to our table, delivering us food and drink. I was impressed when she provided us clean plates when we finished eating our first several menu selections. This restaurant is definitely a must for parties. I definitely recommend Malay Restaurant for duck lovers like me. It was the best duck that I have had all year. I will be back!

On 11/16 I attended a wonderful UYE family style diner with 8 other people at my table and about 8 more at another table. So this restaurant maybe small but it's big enough to cater groups. The staff was overly kind, at all times, serving our 2 tables and not letting other groups lack for anything. I was honored to sit with a fantastic group of VIP's and break bread. Here is the menu... -- Chicken Satay w.Peanut Sauce -- Beef Rendang -- Pi-Pa Duck (whole duck) -- Eggplant w.Shredded Pork & Salted Fish -- Okra & Belachan Shrimp -- Watercress w.Thai Sauce -- Seafood Curry Stew -- Rice I sampled every thing except the eggplant dish because I was stuffed. A Tofu dish replaced the watercress dish. Every item paired well and were very delicious for my palate. I can't say which dish was the best because every dish stood out and offered a distinctive taste. I did manage to accidentally bite into a pepper. It was HOT, HOT. HOT! Some people went casual and some dressed. However you come, group or not, just make sure you have enough space for all of the food. I can get use to hanging with friends trying different foods from different cultures. Inspire more, Yelp more.

Love this restaurant!! Unassuming restaurant that is surprisingly busy during certain hours--which makes sense considering the food is so yummy!! Nowadays, I find it hard to find many authentic, hole-in-the-wall Malaysian restaurants, considering there are not too many Malaysian restaurants around. Like other mom-and-pop Asian restaurants, you are not here for the service, but for the good food and great prices. Of note, some of the staff speak both Cantonese and English--brownie points if you can speak Cantonese while ordering. When I come here, I am always shocked at how delicious the food is, considering their prices are unbeatable in post-COVID times. We always order the same thing, and it hits every time. If you come here, you have to get the Malaysian Cheong Fun Curry Noodle Soup! The in-restaurant portion is huge, and the curry is this coconut creamy goodness that just warms the soul on a cold evening. You also can't beat their classic Nasi Lemak. Best I've had in the city for both dishes so far. Please come here and support their business! What we ordered: - Malaysian Cheong Fun Curry Noodle Soup - Nasi Lemak

Very authentic Malaysian food! Everything tastes so good. My favorites were the roti canai, chicken skewers, and the bian noodles. The staff are kind and they are usually not too busy. The interior is casual and there are lots of tables.

Sketchy area, delicious food. This spot is delicious. I've never tried Malaysian food before, but if it's all like this, then I will be adding much more to my diet. We started with some roti and curry. The roti was so fragrant and warm. Perfectly chewy. It paired perfectly with the curry they gave us. I could have drank the rest. We followed that up with a chicken rendang which was phenomenal. The chicken was packed with flavor. I just wanted more and more

They have some amazing skewers! I've never tasted chicken skewers this good before! They have some cucumbers and raw onions on the side, along with a nutty sauce to dip your skewers in. The stir fried rice noodles was another banger dish. It was a big portion size that can 100% fill you up with its savory flavors. The dishes are very affordable as well.

Had an amazing time at Malay Restaurant it's been here all this time and it seems like I never saw it. My Yelp bestie Andie invited me she goes to all the good spots. It was so good and I even tried Duck for the first time. That might not be that big deal for other people but it's a big deal for me cuz I never ever wanted to try duck. But it was actually really good it actually tasted better than chicken . There was a beef dish that was really good. An ocra/shrimp I don't usually eat ocra because it's slimy but this was good. The seafood soup was really good & the eggplant dish was good. Everything was really tasty. So happy Andie invited me & also got to meet new people. 10/10 recommend.

I don't each much Malay food, but I was happy to try this place! We had nasi malek with canai roti. We also had a fried tofu appetizer dish (not picturd) that we really enjoyed. Good price and friendly!

was in the mood for some Malaysian food and decided to order some takeout dishes. The Hainanese Chicken was tasty and decently priced compared to other Malay restaurants. Also, ordered the Curry Beef tendon pot; I was surprised that the Curry based they used was the yellow curry rather than the typical belacan ones (darker and more flagrant). I kinda liked the yellow soup based curry a lot- I usually prefer it as a noodle soup anyway. Aside from the curry Beef dish overall, this is a good Malay restaurant in Flushing

This hole in the wall place is the Best Malaysian Restaurant ever!!!! I've been going to them for over 20++ years & their food has never disappointed!!! Their Curry Chicken, Snake Fish, Satay, Hainanese Chicken w Chili sauce with Oily rice, Shrimp with cream & Lobak are all delicious!!! Must try!!

If you blink you will walk right by so don't blink when looking for this little gem. The flavor is home cooked with love. The service and cook and owner is very friendly. The space is not fancy and/or spacious, but it makes up for it with authenticity. A must place to stop in and don't blink looking for this place....Cheers!

Beef Rendang. Best of the dry versions in the city. Outstanding

I've been here a handful of times with a group and heavily prefer this over the other closest Malaysian spot, Satay. Yes this place is a bit divey, and yes, it could be a bit cleaner, but the food here is outstanding especially for certain dishes. The prices have gone up over the years but then again, every place has gotten more expensive so it comes with them trying to stay in business. I would say in general that the curry dishes, the seafood dishes, and the pia pia duck are the stars here while the noodles are better in some other spots such as Curry House in Manhattan and at Coco in Elmhurst. We have had the following dishes and then some- Beef Rendang- this is easily my favorite version of the "dry style" rendang in the city. The beef is extremely tender, just spicy enough for a kick but not too much to overpower, and has just enough sweetness. I know the price of this dish keeps on going up but I will order this or insist others order this regardless of how much it goes up by as it is that good. If you're going to go here, order this without exception. As someone who loves rendang, I love this version (though for the wet version, go to Coco.) Pi-Pa Duck- We got a whole this time and have gotten a half or whole other times. The duck hasn't always been the most consistent in quality but when it's good, it's outstanding here and even the just okay versions are still tasty. Very tender duck though perhaps a little bit too much sweet sauce on the bottom. BBQ Skate Fish- Very tasty version of this uncommon fish. You can order a large or small and the large is plenty big with a lot of tender meat. Said fish is served with sambal to add a bit of a spicy kick. I'd recommend this also. I would also recommend similarly the Belacan Crispy Fish which I believe is made with tilapia which is a little bit more and also excellent. Okra & Belacan Shrimp- Solid version though I prefer other spots which have a stronger belacan/shrimp paste flavor such as Coco. Still tasty and the okra is cooked better than most other places. Eggplant With Shredded Pork & Salted Fish- Very solid version of this Cantonese casserole classic. Eggplant had a solid texture though it could have been a bit more salted but the pork was nice Seafood Curry Stew- Unfortunately contains squid so I only tried a very little bit of the broth which had a good coconut flavor and a bit of spice being reminiscent of a curry laksa though not as shrimpy. Bak Kut Teh- I ordered this once as I couldn't eat several of the dishes as I wasn't expecting there to be squid. It was a bit less herbal than the rare occasion I've had this prior being almost a bit more ginger forward but there was a good amount of tender meat especially for the small size. I felt like this would be perfect on a cold winter day. Hainanese Rice- wouldn't really recommend the substitution. I prefer the food in general here pretty heavily to Satay but the rice here is worse. It's fluffy but it lacks the strong scallion flavor I expect from said rice. Was nice that they didn't charge us for this. I hope this place stays in business though I'm not exactly sure how long it will. It's an old school spot that has been tested by Covid and many other things and still thrives for a very good reason

If you're even remotely near this neighborhood and craving pho, do yourself a favor and stop by Pho…read moreMetro. This place feels like a hidden gem you almost want to keep secret... but it's just too good not to share. What makes Pho Metro stand out right away is how authentic it feels. You can tell this is truly a labor of love. One guy runs the show and somehow manages to do it all, from cooking to serving, and the care he puts into the food absolutely shows in every single bite. It has that comforting, homemade quality that makes you feel like you've stepped into a small family kitchen rather than just another restaurant. The food itself is outstanding. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, from the herbs to the broth. I highly recommend the thin noodles with the spicy lemongrass broth (you can request this if it's not listed). It's bursting with flavor, slightly tangy, perfectly spicy, and deeply savory in a way that warms you from the inside out. Every spoonful feels like a cozy blanket on a cold day. The summer rolls are another must-order. They're fresh, light, and packed with flavor, and the peanut sauce that comes with them is absolutely delicious. It's rich, savory, and addictive enough that you'll find yourself scraping the cup to get every last drop. Another detail I really appreciated is how everything you need is right at your fingertips. All the sauces are readily available at the table, so you can customize your bowl exactly how you like it without having to ask or wait. It makes the whole experience feel easy, comfortable, and welcoming. And don't skip the Thai iced tea. It's perfectly sweet, creamy, and refreshing, especially alongside the bold flavors of the pho. It's the kind of drink that makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. Overall, this place delivers on flavor, authenticity, and heart. It's rare to find a spot where you can truly taste the effort and pride in every dish, but Pho Metro does exactly that. I will absolutely be returning again and again. If you're in the area, make the stop. You won't be disappointed.

We also ordered summer rolls and spring rolls. Hubby & dear child ordered the pho but I forgot to take pics of everything else. We ordered delivery tonight and service was pretty fast. Didn't eat in but if I am ever craving Vietnamese will check out.
