I killed two, there was at least 4 more flying around, continuously the entire meal. We did have a big group (12). Had such a great brunch here! The vibe is bright, colorful, and fun -- great energy throughout the place. Big menu with tons of pancake, waffle, and French toast options, plus a solid drinks selection (teas, coffees, smoothies). No Bloody Marys, but they make up for it with michaladas, which was a nice surprise. They also had a few choice for mimosas and even fun mimosa flights. I got the steak and eggs 8/10-- really good. The food here is decent--solid flavors and nothing truly disappointing--but it feels noticeably overpriced for what you get. The drinks are even more expensive! Service was genuinely good and attentive, which is why we decided to give the place a second chance. Unfortunately, the flies were a major problem both times. We tried eating inside thinking it would be better, but it was actually worse. Multiple flies kept landing on our food, which completely killed the appetite. There's clearly an issue with flies in the area, and it's hard to overlook when you're paying premium prices. (And let's be honest--we all know where those flies have been.) Overall: I wanted to like this spot more, especially with the friendly service, but the combination of high prices and persistent flies makes it hard to recommend. Such a beautiful Sunday brunch at Madre's! I sat outside on the patio, and it was the perfect setting for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. I had the pistachio latte, which was delicious and such a nice change from my usual coffee, along with the steak chilaquiles. I had the Vegan just egg omelet it was flavorful and way different than that typical "omelet" you can taste all ingredients it was with some red salsa but not spicy. i loved that there wasn't a lot of the just egg. it tends to be too much and too plain at other places when i order vegan just egg omelet. Yummy spot. Cute inside with friendly staff. I was staying at the Westin around the corner. Walk was short and convenient. I wanted a Horchata latte and saw this yummy menu and decided to give it a try. The food speed was average. Coffee was flavorful. Interior was Instagram-able and fun. I would go back. My friend and I came here on a weekday for brunch. It was so cutely decorated inside and our server was so sweet and very attentive! For the food, we shared the birria omelette and the madres chilaquiles. They were both packed with lots of meat and so delicious. The chilaquiles were crispy although some were soggy in the middle because of all the toppings. The salsa was good and it came with two eggs which was perfect for our sharing! Wonderful spot in Long Beach for breakfast or brunch. They have tables inside or outside. It is really a lovely location with a cute little shop next door incase you are waiting for a table. The food is really good and plentiful. Since it was brunch, I got the Mimosa Flight which is 3 mimosas of orange juice, cranberry juice and pineapple juice - so fun! I just wish I had chosen a different dish than the Divorsados, not because they weren't good because they delicious but when our table got the French Toast dish with ice cream, I knew I should have gotten the waffle. The ambiance was a bit loud with the music they had playing inside so it was a nice day outside to sit down instead. We came at 8:45 am on a Saturday morning. We were the first people here. Greeted immediately upon entering. This is a super fun place because they change the menu so check out their Instagram to find out what their monthly specialities are!! I ordered the Michelada with Modelo. Very refreshing, and yes I know it's 8:45 in the morning but I'm on vacation! Boyfriend had a flight of coffees: abuelita which was very chocolatey, pistachio( which tasted soo good!!) and marzipan! I'd been to the Whittier location, which was very small, only to find a much more spacious location here. For a Sunday at brunch time, the restaurant wasn't very busy and we were sat right away on the patio. Our server was super sweet and they have a wide selection of coffee beverages that we partook in. Everything we had was good and with good portions of meat. Prices were what they are these days - about $150 for four people, each with a drink, and an extra entree to share. During our visit, I noticed a significant difference in the level of attention and quality of service provided to white customers compared with other guests. The white customers appeared to receive much more attentive and friendly service, while we felt overlooked and treated differently. In addition, the glasses provided to us were visibly dirty, which you can see there is still an old lipstick. Madres is ok. I stopped by when they opened one morning during the week. The pictures are better than the actual ambiance. Possibly because they'd just opened and we were the first guests but the customer service was missing. It was almost like they were irritated we were there so early. We had to ask for everything from water to silverware and boxers and the waitress had a bit of a tude when we asked for more boxes than she brought. This rating is partially my fault--I came here for what I wanted vs what I needed. I'm in Long Beach for a conference so I needed a healthy breakfast and WiFi to get some work done. First, upon entering the establishment there was no air conditioning. Pretty stuffy so I requested to sit outdoors. Is the south the only region of the US that does air conditioning?! I was initially attracted to Madres by the delicious-looking photos of their breakfast, but I didn't order any of their fun coffee flights, waffles, pancakes, or French toast, so I don't feel like I can speak to what they do best. I instead went for the fruit salad--I barely ate any of it because the fruit was mediocre, there was no need for the mounds of nuts, and the yogurt/granola was not good. No one knew the WiFi password and the password I was given by 2 different servers didn't work. I tried multiple iterations they suggested with no luck, so I had to settle for my personal hotspot. The last miss here was that there were nuts in my latte, no warning. I understand that marzipan is an almond paste, but what happened to just using flavored syrup?
