Orange Crush happy hour!
Amanda T.

Good food, better drinks and fun vibe. I'd definitely come back. The staff was friendly and attentive to our group as well. Thanks!

The burger was really delicious but the physical place is gross. Our table and booth were gross, the bathroom was gross, the menus were gross, the walls were gross. It really just needs a good clean. Our server genuinely acted like she disliked us and only came to check on us twice in two hours. There were maybe 10 people total in the restaurant at the time so it was confusing. I don't think I'll be back

The steak was excellent, and the potatoes were very good too! I really enjoyed my hot chocolate. Overall, the restaurant is beautifully set up and decorated. Our server was polite and helpful, assisting us with the menu and recommending his favorite dishes.

Madhatter is an interesting experience at 6:30 PM on a Friday. I've never been here before but one of my friends wanted to check out the happy hour here. I can see why it has a notorious reputation for being the club to be for young 20-somethings. The interior is a bit dark/creepy, crusty and slightly sticky floors -- a total reminiscent of all the clubs back on any college campus. ORANGE CRUSH (HH) - 6 I don't know how much Smirnoff Orange they put in each one but I was done for the night after two of these. Pretty solid drink, good bang for your buck especially during the happy hour pricing. We got a bunch of bar bites to share, all which were 6.00 each: MAC & CHEESE BITES - Good and cheesy, nicely fried but each order only comes with six, so it's not the best deal. LOADED NACHOS - The plate is sizable and comes with a lot of chips and toppings. The portion size is definitely worth it and it's pretty tasty. PRETZEL BITES - Lots of pretzels with good sauces on the side, but the pretzel bites were way too salty for it to be enjoyable. With less salt, it would have been nice and fluffy. CHICKEN TENDERS - Definitely the most worth it of all the bar bites. Each order comes with three big tenders that were well fried and the chicken was well-cooked and juicy. Also good dipping sauces on the side. LOADED FRIES - Lots of fries with a good amount of cheese, sour cream, and a bunch others mixed in. However, fries are pretty soggy and I don't think we finished it. It's not a classy establishment, but it works out because the pricing here is cheap. A couple of my friends ordered the frozen happy hour cocktails (pina colada and frozen mango-rita). While they thought the drinks were good, it was so cold that they got a brain freeze. The bartender was nice and made sure we got our drinks, food and water.

We were wandering around the Dupont Circle Metro station, wondering what happened to the restaurants we'd visited in the past when we spotted Madhatter. We'd been here on a recent trip and remembered good times. We were happy to hear that they had outdoor seating, so we enjoyed choosing from the vast happy hour options. The quesadilla and beer was exactly what we needed after a day at the museums. Service was pleasant and efficient. A perfect solution.

Came for the bottomless mimosas, stayed for the diner style breakfast. Honestly this spot isn't bad. Fantastic bottomless deals and the food was solid. Inside is dated yet you can stop looking around. It's decorated with everything but the kitchen sink but my god it's fun in there.

This is a tough crowd out here-- I love mad hatter. I could be biased bc it brings the nostalgia for me but this is a great place to come with friends or even solo. For the orange crush they hand squeeze the oranges in front of you. Which other bar is doing that? I'll wait lol but anywho the staff is so friendly and the crowd is friendly too. What more could you want in a happy hour--great price great atmosphere. I didn't try any light bites since it was a quick stop in but everything looked good! Don't miss the patio when the weather is good.

If you live in the DC area or are just visiting, Madhatter is a rite of passage for all 20 somethings. Think of an elevated frat party with jungle juice, except much tastier and in a humongous glass hat. A great item to spilt among friends. I've also tried their Orange Crush slushy which was recommended by the bartender - quite tasty. Their staff is speedy and the dance floor is spacious. While the music is hit or miss, Madhatter can consistently provide you with a fun time with friends. After all, you're only young once.

The Hatter's Punch was delicious! I would highly recommend getting one. They're huge and good to split with a group. Probably not that strong but it tastes like a blue jolly rancher to me which i LOVE. The different rooms in the Madhatter are also very fun! There's an upstairs and the theme of the rooms are Alice in Wonderland esque with checkered floors etc. I'm taking off a star because of the strict bathroom situation. The women's bathroom line downstairs was sooo frckin long and moved slowly and they had a security guard letting people in 1 by 1. Meanwhile the guys just waltzed in their line... I'd recommend trying the upstairs bathroom. No guard, either gender room, and it moved faster.

Called as well for confirm that our table would be near a big screen table. When we got there we were led to our reservation, tv view and sound were good. The outdoor bar area had a water jug for free refills so we can stay hydrated. I got a Sauvignon blanc, and tried some spritz drink as well. Very fitting for summer. My spouse and I decided to treat ourselves on a beautiful Thursday night and - hold on - The Admiral was the place we selected. Ok, so it's halfway between our office and our house but even if it were WAY out of the way, we would gladly go there. The food is solid, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the service is always perfection. This time I had the Filibuster Smash Burger. OMG so good! A 4 ounce burger patty topped with shaved steak, some sort of sauce that kept it moist and tasty and some veggies to make my doctor happy. The menu said the sauce had jalapeno in it but there is not even a hint of spiciness on this burger. However, it is a total huge mess to eat so I had to eat like a grandpa, cutting the burger with a knife. But I didn't care because I loved this burger! My spouse had the All American Burger and he put the server through his paces asking for every topping to be served on the side. Sounds like a mean thing to do but the server gladly satisfied his wishes. To be honest, my spouse enjoyed the burger immensely and added only the toppings he wanted, in the amounts he wanted and there is nothing wrong with that. Our server, Declan, was very friendly, fast and served us perfectly. So, another great meal at The Admiral with great food, great service and great times!!!! This is truly what a neighborhood place should be!!!

But, this weekend, I needed reservations for a group and they had what I wanted, when I needed it. So, off to the Tabard Inn we went. The restaurant is charming, quaint and old. It leans heavily into its unique character and not without some success. I felt like I was walking into the past. Old worn wood floors, old upholstered furniture that had seen better days, heck, the place even smelled old. But, rather than turn me off, it was comfortable and inviting, kind of like going to your grandma's house where everything looks like a museum but you know you're gonna get some love there. The staff could not be nicer, better, more friendly. They know how to "do" hospitality and do it well. The food was good, very good. I had the pork shank. I am telling you that I could only finish about 1/3 of it because the serving was so large. And the meat was fall of the bone, cut with your fork, tender. The flavor was rich and intense. Great job! The lamb chops looked fantastic. The fried chicken was just okay according to my spouse. Is the Tabard Inn the best restaurant in DC? No and, guess what, it's not trying to be. It is just trying to satisfy the diners. There is no haute cuisine here. Tried and true dishes, prepared very well. The other thing about this restaurant is its flexibility. You want to dress casual? Do it. You looking for a dress up, old fashioned sort of dining room? Yes, that works too. Romantic dinner with your special guy or gal? Absolutely! They seem to satisfy everyone here. And they definitely satisfied me. Will I go back again? Yes absolutely. Do I recommend the Tabard Inn? Of course!

These were honestly some of the best things I've ever eaten at any brunch spot I've visited. They were incredibly flavorful, unique, and unlike anything I've tasted before. I can genuinely say I've never had anything quite like them. If you visit, these are a must-try! The drinks were just as impressive. I had an espresso martini that was easily in my top five martinis I've ever had. It was that good! The overall drink selection and quality definitely added to the experience. Service was impeccable. Our waiter was attentive, made sure we had everything we needed, and did a great job throughout our visit. It's always nice when great food is matched with equally great service. The atmosphere was also really nice. It has that classic diner feel, but with a more upscale and modern touch. It's a comfortable setting that still feels a little elevated, making it a great spot for brunch. Prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and drinks. Unconventional Diner definitely made a great impression on me. Between the loaded breakfast biscuits, amazing espresso martini, and excellent service, this is absolutely a place I'd return to. Honestly we were so pleasantly surprised by how good the burgers are! I had the Capital Burger which had such incredible flavor and the burger itself is thick and juicy. My daughter had the wild mushrooms burger and she loved it -- the aioli had the perfect tang to go with the mushroom and Swiss, both burgers were cooked perfectly medium as requested. The old fashioned was just your typical old fashioned with a slice of candied bacon attached to the outside of the glass. We were hoping for something smokier and a little different but it was still a very good Old Fashioned. We shared the chocolate mousse and it was perfection. Yum! I could not identify or really pinpoint where the black truffles came in, but the beef was well seasoned. The additions were a dollar too expensive across the board so I skipped those. The fries were sort of stereotypical, nothing really fancy about those. I debated about having the truffle fries, but didn't really wanna pay the extra three dollars. Bless my server, he didn't know what black truffles were, either. The Reesie's peanut butter cup Skrewball milkshake was quite good. Good use of Skrewball. Could've done with a little more alcohol, but what a great combination. Good taste. Vanilla ice cream and peanut butter all the way through. My only .. concern.. were the pickles. There's this NoVA chain restaurant that serves POPCORN before the meal, which I think has to be the most depressing, unappetizing, lazy and cheap way to start a meal. Capital Burger servers sliced sweet pickles in a jar. That.. is a step up from popcorn, but not by much... If I was in the mood for a burger and boozy milkshake, this would be on the list, but not my first choice.
