I really wanted to like The Golden Age, but the experience left me underwhelmed. I ordered two tequila-based cocktails, the fingerling potatoes, hanger steak sandwich, crab fritters, and a shared plate of kebabs. Across the board, the theme was the same: everything lacked flavor. The drinks were passable--neither bad nor good--but nothing I'd come back for. Service didn't elevate the night either. It was hard to get the waitress's attention, and the overall attentiveness felt mediocre. The vibe of the space itself was pleasant enough, but I couldn't shake the confusion about what the restaurant was trying to be. Was it a cocktail bar with some food options, or a full restaurant with a serious bar program? Right now, it feels stuck in between and doesn't excel at either. In good conscience, I can't recommend The Golden Age beyond maybe grabbing a drink in a nice setting. But doesn't really seem worth it for the price.

Welcome to my faavvoorriitteee cocktail bar in all of DC. Once you enter, you immediately feel the warmth and richness of the mahogany decor and soothing music. I recently went on a Sunday where they have live jazz, and the ambiance this created was truly unmatched. The bartenders are incredibly friendly and equally skilled, making the best dirty martini money can buy. Ugh, The Golden Age, stay a while, won't you?

A really cute cocktail lounge in DuPont! We came here as a late night spot and I totally recommend. They have a pretty solid food menu, bigger than I had thought, but a smaller late night bites menu. The burger is on the menu always and is killer! So good, a perfect end of the night bite. The cocktails were also awesome! They have a solid menu and really knowledge bartenders who can really make you anything. The place is cute and classy inside so for sure worth a stop in if you're in the area!

Dropped by with a friend for a drink since we were in the area. It was packed. After perusing the drink list, I selected the Daiquiri No. 5. Not many of the drinks excited me as they were mostly classic cocktails, but I love a clarified drink so I gave it a try. It was really good. We missed their happy hour, so I would come back and give that and their food a try if I was in the area. The service was subpar.

Cozy spot in DuPont circle. Came to enjoy drinks while also enjoying a dessert of beignets. Cocktails were tasty. Service was attentive. Grabbed a table after we walked in even on a busy night. Good vibes for friends hanging out or maybe even a date night.

Happened to stumble upon this hidden gem in DuPont and I'm so glad I did! The bar was so fun. The drinks were great, albeit expensive, and the ambiance was very cool. The staff was very sweet and charged my phone for me when it died :)

The Golden Age is one of my new favorite spots in the city! I had always passed by when coming from my nail appointments and was excited to pop in on a Thursday evening. The ambiance is unmatched! I felt as though I was transported to the 1920s. Gorgeous lighting and attention to detail. This is a sister bar to The Mirror (downtown) and resembles a similar style menu / drinks. I could see this as a great spot to start the night before dinner. Decent prices for food and drinks. I enjoyed the Confit potatoes - very well cooked, dusted with cheese, and lots of flavor in each bite. I am very excited for my next visit!

Golden Age is a fun old school DC restaurant with an almost speakeasy type vibe and fantastic cocktails. Definitely take advantage of their happy hour. I recommend having a reservation, but we arrived shortly after they opened at 5pm and were able to snag a table for two. Their food menu is just the right size: appetizers, small plates and a few entrees. We tried a few of the small plates and then ordered the pub burger and chicken kabobs for our main dishes. I highly recommend the lamb kabob as well. The confit potatoes are tasty too. My husband said his burger was on point. I enjoyed the chicken kabobs with couscous. We finished with some yummy beignets. Our server was awesome. She made some great cocktail and food recommendations. We will be back. Thanks for a great evening in DC. :-)

Cute spot to go for cocktails! Dimly lit and beautifully designed. We were able to get a table for all 6 of us. It wasn't busy when we arrived, but more people came in as we were about to leave. Delicious cocktails and a nice atmosphere. They do have low alcohol and non alcoholic options too. The staff was nice and friendly. The guy checking IDs outside played rock paper scissors with us so we could get in. We lost but of course, he was kidding and still let us go in. LOL

Fits the bill for your nice interior, low lights, going-out cocktail bar. It's classy with a capital C. It should make the list of stops on your Dupont barhopping Friday night... ...and also great for a Tuesday evening when I went. The cocktail selection is fun to read through. What caught my eye was the low alcohol section. I ended up enjoying the Paloma. My friend and I loved the glasses our drinks came in. The food menu is a cut above other bars. The entrees sounded really good, but they also have small and shareable things like charcuterie. We sat at the end of the bar and the staff was still pretty attentive to us. We got seated right away, but the place did get busier as the Tuesday night went on. Huge points to the nice bathroom in the basement. (Mints???) Probably the only time I've Shazam-ed a song in the bathroom because I was so curious what the tune was.

Tucked into the heart of Dupont Circle with its unmistakable bright blue awning, the restaurant is intimate, moody, and always buzzing. Inside, you'll find dim lighting, a handful of cozy wooden bar booths, seats along the bar, and a few outdoor tables. It's not a huge space, which only adds to its charm and makes every reservation feel like a win. The atmosphere is perfect for sharing dishes and lingering over dinner with friends. The food was incredible...I genuinely loved every single bite. Just be prepared: the Sichuan spice is no joke! If you aren't expecting it, it'll definitely sneak up on you (in the best way). My must-orders? The chili wontons, Dan Dan noodles, and beef noodles. Every dish was packed with bold flavor and left me wanting to come back for more. If you've been trying to score a reservation, keep at it. Astoria is one of those places that's absolutely deserving of its reputation, and I'll be thinking about those noodles until my next visit.

Inside had small tables and a kinda casual cocktail bar vibe Beef Noodles - the highlight and actually very good! The noodles are long and handmade and chewy. They hold onto the sauce very well! The sauce has a slight kick and is very savory. The beef is soft and also flavorful! I feel the price for the portion is kinda expensive though 8/10 Chili wontons - skin is silky and soft, sauce is savory with a small kick as well! Even though the sauces look similar to beef noodle they taste very different. The fillings had good flavor and overall were good but were a bit tougher and dryer than I would prefer. 6/10 Crab fried rice - crab is slightly overcooked but naturally sweet. It has a light curry taste throughout and was pretty good but didn't really stand out 5.5/10 Mapo tofu - slight kick and nice savory taste in the sauce! However I think they cut the tofu pieces way too large or the tofu they chose had way too much tofu flavor that overpowers the sauce. I'd prefer a very light silky tofu but this was a soft tofu. 6/10 Vpod - at first it just tasted like orange juice but then the other flavors peek through on the after taste and when I mixed it more. Even though it was good, it still felt very basic 5/10 Philadelphia Scotsman - it's pretty ginger forward. Technically the level of ginger spice is fine but strong but then the rest of the drink got completely overpowered and so this just wasn't that great 2.5/10

For context, my last visit to DC in my teens, I was looking to view DC, in a new light, as an adult. Entering Jane Jane somehow felt like home. While Nobies offers great food, Jane Jane kills it with their cocktails...and the complimentary bowl of cheese its...perfect bar food I guess? Their legend's menu is just that. Although I came in anticipating ordering one drink, that one turned into two after trying the "A La Playa". I'm not sure I'd sip it on the beach, but the sweet, slightly Smokey, fruity concoctions now lives on my list of favorites drinks. It has the perfect balance of flavors.
