Dang this Macy's is messy! This is the Macy's location that I grew up with. I haven't been here in so long, but I came to go shopping/kill time with my friend while we were waiting for our table at the Cheesecake Factory. Upon entering there was a table to the left of the door that had so many empty Starbucks cups and trash... okay I get it, most likely those were from customers who left it there and it's probably not the employees trash but it was so visible for anyone to see. The employees were probably all ignoring it because they didn't want to have to clean it up. I've always had a hard time finding something at this store that catered to my age range. Even when I was a kid or teenager their styles or brands never sparked my interest. Their juniors section before looked like the same exact stuff that they sell at Ross LOL not that there's anything wrong with that store. Now in my mid-20s, there's not much for me here either. I guess it caters more to an older crowd like 50+. My mom will usually stop in and look through the women's section when we're here LOL Nordstrom has more brands that cater to millenials like their BP or Topshop or Topman section. read more

This Macy's appears quality enough. I went to the womens department in search of specific brand merchandise. After searching through the racks of Maison Jules, I found what I was looking for. I didn't try them on in-store, taking a chance on the fit, which turned out to be perfect. The only issue was finding an available cashier to pay for the item. I can't speak for the rest if the store. On my previous visit, I went to the jewelry department, again looking for a specific item, found it and left. This store, compared to San Leandro Bayfair and Hayward Southland Mall is very nice and neat presentation wise, all clothing is very organized, employees actually sound helpful and inviting, and does not have security or loss prevention walking around all isles like Southland does. It is a good example of what a quality Macy's store should be. The downside is the Men's store selection here is kind of small compared to the other stores, but they have big mens sizes! (2x , 3x) and I have not found that at the other stores. The other downfall is that if you want Clinique mens skin care like the one I bought you actually have to go to the Womens cosmetics department to get the Mens skin care. A little bit of a disappointment but the customer service there was awesome (Olga showed me a new product similar to what I was using and even packed a sample for me to try at home along with my purchase of my regular skin care I use) Overall, I think it's worth the drive here from Hayward, even if its a little bit of a freeway drive, at least it's not ghetto and everything again is very organized and customer service is great. read more

What a disaster - never shopping here again. Waited 20 minutes in line on the 3rd floor women's dept to make a return. Only one employee at a register Bay for 4 employees. Waited 20mins to be told "returns only on the 2nd floor. Waited another 15 mins when I overheard a customer in front of me told "online order returns require the order #". They can't look up an order with your Macy's credit card? BS! I look up my order # online, wait my turn to be "helped" by a clerk that doesn't understand English. The clerk next to her has to point and demonstrate to her what to do. Why put her in such a position. The 3rd floor, which had been nicely remodeled, is now a dumping ground of marked down clothing racks with zero organization by size, color, brand ANYTHING. I am looking for clothes suitable for travel....and happened on a pair of EF pants here I liked. I looked for them at Nordstrom, because they were not on sale, and I would rather give my $$ to a store that has great service, they don't have them. No luck on the EF website either. I can not call in to see if they are still there, and have them pull them....Macy's has little or no staff. When I was trying them on I had to get dressed and go out and get the other size myself. So I am running over today to see if they are still there...because I want them. I don't want to buy from this store ;-( Turned out better than I thought, I not only got them at 25% off but was served by a friendly staffer....lesson learned? This review is specifically for Greg or Craig in the Shoe Dept. He has no customer service skills whatsoever. He walks around like he's better than everyone and sighs when you have to make a return. He will look at you up and down prior to asking if you need assistance, and he does not make eye contact. The first time I came in I didn't catch his name so I couldn't make a review, but the second time I was treated equally bad and I asked him his name since he wasn't wearing a name tag. I did not notice him being that way towards other customers...is it because I'm Mexican? who knows, all I know is that I will be going to spend my hard earned money somewhere else where I am treated with respect. read more

I would like to give a big shoutout to the jewelry manager - Dima Nassar. I had to return a watch that my sister bought for me for Christmas. However, I did not get the gift until May, 2022. I did not have a receipt but there was a return receipt tag on the watch. Dima came to the department, listened to my story and after some investigation, gave me full refund for the watch. I would like to say she is an excellent manager. She resolved my issue quickly and easily. Her last words were "Macy's would like to keep you as a valid customer". The least I could do is write a review to report how well she did her job and that she resolved my issue with great satisfaction. Macy's is lucky to have a competent and caring employee. Macy's Men can be characterized as incompetence!! Waited 25 minutes for shoes. Was told the shoe clerk went to lunch. After waiting for someone to get done with their customer AND chasing them down, they informed me they didn't have both shoes in stock. Employees are friendly here. When I was at the cash register, the cashier gave me additional savings on my total purchase! She was not obligated to do so, but she did. I saved like 10 bucks! She just bought me an extra drink at the bar. Besides the great service, I find the selection here great and competitively priced. The shoe selection is decent as well as their athletic wear. It's one of my favorite places to pick up some threads. I'm not much of a shopper and that says a lot. read more

Ah, the typical department store dilemma. You can probably find what you're looking for, but do you want to expend the effort to do so? That's usually when you turn to the sales associates to aid in your search. My experiences with them have ranged from fabulous and friendly to feeling like I was a smoldering cigarette butt they were trying to snuff out. The scent of commission lingers in the air particularly in the shoe department, where sometimes the wait to check out is ridiculous because your associate is busy trying to round up another three customers' shoes in the back. The store is three floors high, with the first dedicated to shoes, makeup, accessories, and juniors' clothing, the second to missy sizes (their term, not mine) clothing, and the third to petite and more professional clothing. Some items are scattered across different floors though, which increases the necessity to ask a sales associate for help and the frustration level for shoppers who like to be as independent as possible like me. Also, the quantity of clothing doesn't correspond to the variety in styling available. You can find the same kind of chunky sweater in five different sections, but only a few professional blouse styles in one very limited section. Great when I want competitive pricing for that sweater, but it sucks when the retail space doesn't seem optimized for customer demands. read more

One of my favorite places to shop around the holidays, unfortunately had to do our shopping in the day time since management (owner) doesn't care for the security of its customers. The second floor parking exists are dark since there are only 3 dimmed lights by one of the exits and the other has zero lighting and don't get me started on the parking the only light you will see is the light from cars leaving or arriving. read more

Once I told her I was here to size a watch I had just bought, she changed her dismeanor and said they were really busy and couldn't do it! How rude!!! She obviously wasn't too busy to sell me stuff. ONE REASON WHY MACYS IS DOING BADLY and may go out of business. I saw a 13 tri ply set of Calphalon pots and pans for $339 on December 29th. Today, for their "SALE' the price happen to JUMP UP to $399. I asked for the lower price and the answer was "Sorry, I could only give you the $399 price." I hate it when Macy's mark UP the price during a Sale. Please do your research for everything before you buy from Macy's. I will be using my 20% off coupon at Bed Bath N Beyond instead. Another reason is because they have too many brands in the store. Brands that don't do well and in the end Macy's looks like a hoarder. The layout of the store needs to be changed too. read more

The return line here is very poorly managed. There's 1 person doing alllll the returns. It's a Saturday night when most people are out and the return line just gets longer. There is the "Men's Macy's" and the "Women's Macy's" at this mall. I tend to hit either one or the other, but tonight I ended up hitting both. There was a deal at the Lancome counter I couldn't pass up, a deal in the lingerie department that I couldn't pass up and where I purchased something for my wedding night. Finally, there was the wedding registry that I needed to complete that part took place in the Men's Macy's which is also where housewares is located. The customer service here was stellar and I got a free canvas gift bag for showing up in person. I purchased 3 pairs of shoes online and it was charged to my PayPal account. I went today to the store to return and their return desk. Two pairs were credited to my PayPal account. The third pair they said they could not give me a reason so I was given a store credit for the one pair. I do not understand why and they do not have an explanation. I called customer service and could not get a straight answer either. I will be complaining to PayPal and any governmental agency. Macy was willing to take my money but not to give it back the way I paid for it! I'm not interested in shopping there anymore. As we were browsing through suits and trying them on we noticed one of the workers looking at us as they walked around. We didn't mind as we know they were only trying to prevent shoplifting in their stores until a man started to approach us. Confronting us he began asking what we were looking for and if we need any assistance. We said no but he decided to follow us anyway into the changing rooms. He waited outside the exit blocking the entrance as we began to feel unsafe by his presence. I showed my father the outfits I will be wearing for the prom I will be attending soon. The man decided to join in our conversation only to judge my outfit saying that it was too loose and didn't look nice on me only to oppose that they can fix it only for 40 dollars. We decided on one and paid at the front cashier which the man left us. We were not too happy with our experience shopping at Macy's nor did we will safe with the employees. read more

I had placed an online pickup of $146 (6 items total). I was unable to go and thought they will automatically refund my money. But, recently when I placed an order I saw in my order history that it was picked up. If I never went then who picked up?! I fought with them to refund me and check their security footage for proof. They did nothing! I am 100% sure one of the employees/manager took my order and know how to work their way around to make it seem like I picked it up. So an attempt to return online purchase turned into further spending! This keeps happening to me. The shoe department is immense. Sometimes, it feels overwhelming. I'm on my feet a lot at work, so comfortable shoes are always on the top of my list...I can only wear sneakers so often before I get bored. Perminder was super-helpful in finding my size. When I discovered my regular size was a bit snug, she went and got me a pair half size up that were a tad big. To my surprise, she handed me a pair of heel grips free of charge. Awesome...now that's service! Everyone at the store was very patient and friendly. It was a very good shopping experience, without the need to pay for toll and an arm and a leg for parking. I love this particular Macy's simply for their great selection of handbags, they carry more designer labels than most Macy's. They have a big variety of Michael Kors bags, Marc by Marc Jacobs and even Vince Camuto. Along with the handbags they have some very stylish phone cases, I was suckered into buying a Marc Jacobs case for my phone for a really great price. I also enjoy their Juniors section, I'm far from a Junior but still shop in that section don't judge me lol...They have a huge selection of Jessica Simpson's line and a fair amount of Levi's. I heart this Macy's location. One star off for the shoe section being so busy that you can only get help much longer after your shoe choice... Four stars because every worker I have encountered here believes in the mission of the store and wants to help you get what you need. Pros: 1)If you are of the petite size like me- go to the third floor and feast on the clearance section. I feel like it is forgotten and you can get great deals on brands like INC, Calvin Klein... The list goes on. 2) Randomly good deals on purses-who doesn't love a Coach purse for 65% off? Cons: 1) Car burglaries: More of a problem for the mall...happened while I was here less than a year ago. Park closer to the mainstream area by Cheesecake Factory instead of by the Macy's shoe section. Your car will thank you. 2) Highly disorganized discount jewelry section. I prefer that a store make it clear what is actually 30% of vs. 60% off. Overall, this is one of my favorite Macy's.. Just be sure to be assertive when you are in the shoe, jewelry or purse departments so you don't wait too long. read more

Back-to-school shopping for shoes. The shoe department was insanely chaotic when we visited. Despite having multiple salespeople on the floor, there were still too few of them. Granted, there were a bajillion customers there requesting for several shoes for specific sizes and styles. There is a lady that works in Macy's jewelry department. She is extremely heavy set (she did not wear a name tag and I do not know of any other way to describe her) ( today she wore a leopard shirt) and is well known in the department. The reason I say this is because my friend and I were jewelry shopping and were ready to check out our items. We wanted to do a little shopping before our food reservation was called. My friend made it up to the counter before I did. I still doing a little browsing (at this point our name was called for our reservation so now we need to leave before our 10minute hold is up) As she was checking someone else out another sales associate came over to tell her that some woman (she said her name but she was a customer I'm assuming because she smiled so I took it that she knew her.)was looking for her and wanted her assistance. After she finished up with the customer she looks over at us and tells us she be right back! Earlier I mentioned my Friend being up at the counter before me because later I found out that my friend had let that lady go ahead first while she waited for me. She disregard us like we didn't matter! She could have told her coworker to take over for her or tell her that she'll be right over after she finished with us. Customer service wouldn't ring up my stuff so I went over to the backstage area where finally somebody came to the register. I needed to pick up some make up from Lancôme. I usually shop at Nordstrom but, I had a gift certificate given to me by a family member, so I figured I could endure a quick trip to Macy's Women's. Well, I won't bother to endure that again. At Lancôme I met Farrah. Remember that name and if it's an older woman from the Middle East with WAAAAY too much make up on? Just keep walking. In fact, I'd recommend you go to Nordstrom's and forget Macy's exists. Apparently, Farrah wasn't thrilled that I didn't take her advice and get what she recommended. Actually, what she recommended was out of stock and without asking me, just switched the products and said 'oh, that'll be fine'. Really? Farrah would you like to be disengaged from the conversation and decisions made without being consulted? Then I asked Farrah if she would show me some individual eye shadows. Farrah proceeded to recommend a couple and then walk away and go to the cash register to chat with 3-4 other "make up artists" from the Middle East, speaking in their native tongue and once in a while in English. Something about getting to the airport and how busy it was going to be, etc... I finally nabbed someone for help and that when I found out Farrahs name. I called to Farrah, she was literally 5' away, she heard me, looked at me and went back to her conversation. Because there was NO one else who could help me EXCEPT the 4 middle eastern woman, I continued to call Farrah's name another couple of times. Then I gave up. I still spent a little over $100, but I guess that isn't enough to get just ho hum service. Macy? Are you listening? I won't be back. And, I will tell my family member who gave me the gift card about your service as well. And, anyone else who will hear me. Farrah? You should be fired, plain and simple! read more
