It's nice to come in here to buy music band t-shirts, anime shirts, trendy shirts and various accessories and products. They have a wide selection of earrings, movie and television show memorabilia. The staff are friendly and helpful. I chose to get a t-shirt for full price so I can get a second t-shirt at 30% off. This location also sells what's trending and popular plush animals and characters. Also, this store offers its customers an incentive program by joining their loyalty membership. CJ provided more than exceptional customer service assisting me in replacing my misplaced return card 30 minutes after leaving the store. He called customer service, who gave him the run around, being transferred numerous times causing him to re-explain the story. He was patient throughout the whole ordeal and continued to remain professional and pleasant. He was given several dead ends but continued to find other paths. Of course being as big as a house in a store the size of a bird house makes you noticeable and most people cant help but ask you if you need help in general. Still, their selection of Nightmare Before Christmas stuff is limited. They did have a good selection of NBC clothes they really didn't have very many good accessories or little figurines, things like that. I found a Jack Skelington shirt for my dear friend and a pair of pajama bottoms in black with silver Hello Kitty's all over them. So one person is checked off the gift list this year. I've been coming to Hot Topic for years, back in the day it used to be "THE place" to get your skinny jeans, hello kitty shirts, or over-priced band shirts... It still is, but now-a-days, we all use the internet to get better deals than this store. I don't have a problem with Hot Topic, the demographic is very strange, though. IT brings back memories of awkward teenage years when your hair covers your eyes, and your eye-makeup is 1-inch thick lol. I recently bough a cute PInk Floyd shirt here, but other than the occasional band merchandise, I don't really buy anything here. This is coming from an ex employee who used to work at a hot topic at a different location. I of course want to give the store the benefit of the doubt but whenever I go in i get such a sense of unwelcomeness and they really dont like it when you ask questions about items or where to find them. I've seen them out right yell at customers which is something im hoping doesn't happen often although i've witnessed it about 3 times :/ even with one msn who even looked as though he had a developmental disorder which is just not a good look at all...instead of perhaps just asking them not to do something they resort to yelling and threatening to kick people out instead of problem solving. But i guess you cant be that happy while being in your (im guessing) late 40s and working retail; I sure know i wouldnt. But there is nothing wrong with working in retail at any age; but if you're projecting your unhappiness onto customers i believe its time to find a different avenue; still no excuse to take it out like that on others. anyway, besides the employees; there is hardly anything on the floor which tells me they aren't adequately putting merch onto the sales floor as i recognized mannnnyyyyy boxes of shipment in their back room and even near their cash wrap when i happened to just be wandering the store-- not to mention everything is very disorganized with no rhyme or reason as to why certain merchandise is placed and mixed up with others. it just makes things that much more difficult to shop. Though I will say their bags are organized well so yay for that? I hope they are able to get some guidance from district/regional managers so they can really show off all the cool stuff they have as well as being excited about the products instead of making the customer feel bad for simply inquiring. This hot topic is one of the best I've been to. It seemed to have better stuff than the ones in San Jose, that I usually go to. The staff was really helpful and courteous. They even gave me a discount because I told them about a bad experience I had at another one of their locations. How cool is that? Everything is organized really well and it's clean. I walked in and was greeted by Carly (sp?)...a beautiful girl with red hair and a sincere smile. I told her that I needed an outfit for an 80's party and she lit up like a Christmas tree. I've never seen someone so stoked to do her job. The first thing she told me was that I would need a wig and the best place to get that was at a shop across the street from the mall. Hot Topic's always seem the same to me, however, this location wasn't looking so "Hawt" the last time I was there over the weekend. I'm not sure what business model plans a store remodel during the weekend but 1 wall was empty and I wasnt sure if the store was going out of business or just reorganizing the Marilyn Manson and slipknot t's? Ok ok, what the hell am I doing in hot topic? yeah i know.. I'm a tshirt addict, meaning that if i was a SAT questions I would be "crack is to crack head as tshirt is to danny" Occasionally these emo children of the mall are able to lure me in with a sweet retro comic book shirt. Something that Hot Topic is always good for, retro tshirts. As long as they keep the nostalgic tshirts coming, i'll be wandering in, looking around, and hopefully i'll feel old enough to buy something. I'll show these kids! I'll buy something! Yeah! I did a buy online, pick up in-store order for a shirt. I really didn't like the image in person so about two weeks after I picked up my order, I went in to return it. I walked up to the register and Cheyenne was standing behind it. I said I wanted to make a return. I gave her the shirt (it was still in the original packaging. I never pulled it out of the clear plastic wrap) She then asked for my receipt. Since it was an online order, I gave her my phone which had the email I received after my purchase. She asks again for my receipt, I tell her it's an online order and that email has the order number. Since when has anyone received a store receipt when making an online order? She than states that if I don't have a receipt she can only do store credit. I reply with no. I have an order number for my purchase. She once again states that if I don't have a receipt she can only do store credit. (She's completely ignoring what I'm saying and reading her memorized script) I once again say no, but now I want to talk to someone else. She replies with she's the manager. Before I'm able to respond to that comment about her being the manager (because I never asked if she was the manager) she pulls up my phone and says she'll try my order number and a couple of minutes later she hands me a receipt for my return. I don't know if this is a scam hot topic pulls on their customers to avoid giving there customers their money back, but I'm not falling for it. This is extremely poor customer service especially coming from a so-called manager. If Cheyenne doesn't want to deal with customers, don't stand behind the register. This Hot Topic is pretty nice. I have always found the store to have a nice selection of their current merchandise from the website. It's a store where you can find things that you can't find anywhere else. Obviously, Hot Topic doesn't cater to the average person necessarily, but even though there's nothing in there I'd buy for myself, I've found it to be a perfect gift shop for my friends who are more into that scene. It's pretty cool how they always have themes for the latest movies or music, so if you know someone who's really into the latest trend, you can usually find it at Hot Topic. The customer service is effective but nothing special. One time I bought a tie as a gift for someone, and when I was wrapping it, I saw it was ripped in the back. I took my receipt in and the manager gave me a hard time because I'd removed the tags - I had bought it the day before, and I obviously don't wear ties with red skulls all over them, so I was surprized he would accuse me of wearing it. I think he was probably just sticking to policy but it made me not want to go back for a couple of weeks. Otherwise the customer service is fine. Usually they will say hi and then let you shop uninterrupted. If you ask questions they are always really helpful and the only time I've been ignored is when it's really busy and they don't have time to get to everyone. read more

This is my absolute favorite HT store in the bay area! The cutie store manager, Drew, is always so kind and helpful! He has extensive knowledge in body jewelry and will spend a lot of time helping customers to find out their wants and needs. Everyone at this HT has awesome customer service and the store is pretty well kept and maintained so I don't have anxiety shopping there like at other HT stores that look like a tornado blew through them.
