decided to do my favorite thing downtown and visit two stores that i adore, one of them being the therapy store. walked in and was given a death stare by the sole worker in the store. i ignored it, probably wasn't directed towards me until I started to go deeper into the store. this worker continued to follow me staring at what I picked up what I put down and when I turned her away, she immediately stopped looking and was pretending to fix something. I find this incredibly disappointing. i did not feel welcome here and being a woc, I didnt want to believe it was because of that but i felt a sneaking suspicion that it had some influence. i just really did not feel like a customer. read more

I live in the South Bay Area and typically shop at the Campbell Therapy location. Yesterday I was have lunch with a friend in the cute town of Pleasanton and was so happy they have a store there as well. I usually love stores like this. However, just yesterday I went in with 4 students of mine (17&18) who are soon entering the world of higher education, specifically UC's. I was planning on buying them each a little something for their new journey. We had the our meadowlark ice cream and intentionally checked for any signage prior to entering the store, nothing said/noted no food. We walked in and started looking around. Obviously touching, as one does in stores, and giggling because of an inside joke. Right after we were approached and told there's no food allowed in the store. Being a group of BIPOC individuals, I can't shake the feeling of thinking it wasn't the food. Won't be back, the stares were insane. Be conscious of your wording. AND PUT UP A SIGN because clearly you know how to with all those up on the window & door. read more

We walked past the store and the no drama llama caught out attention so we walked into the store. True to its name, it feels like a therapy playground. First of all, they have the cutest things, and now we know where to buy cute socks for our friends. We stumbled upon an adorable pair of cat-themed socks and couldn't resist buying them for our friend's daughter. She has a love for cats, but unfortunately, she is allergic to them. We thought it would be a perfect way for her to show her affection for felines without being exposed to allergens. read more

This is a most unique gift shop. They have all kinds of nifty, eclectic things. If you can't find something here as a suitable gift for someone, I would be really surprised. There are lots of great gifts in all price ranges. And they seem to feature local products or personalized to the area - e.g. towels embroidered with "Pleasanton" on them. And all are very tastefully done with high quality. I bought my own Father's Day gift - the perfect stainless steel travel thermos mug. I have a bunch of travel mugs (over 2 dozen stored in a box in the garage) but this one really is perfect! It has a two-piece screw on lid so the mouth is extra wide for all sizes of ice cubes. The whole thing is very attractive. It can be drunk from any place of the mouthpiece and the part that touches your lips is plastic so it won't burn your tender/sensitive lips regardless of the temperature of the liquid inside. They come in various colors and the paint is slightly textured to make the body of the mug slip resistant. It comes in two sizes. I got the larger one (500 ml). If you want one, go to Amazon and search for Kinto 20942 Travel Tumbler, 16.9 fl oz (500 ml). Anyway, that's just one thing that caught my eye! I love this store. I love that they got creative and offered personal shopping via a virtual tour on their Instagram. I purchased a gift card to support them when we started sheltering in place so I decided to take advantage of the personal shopping offer and delivery. I sent a few messages back and forth on their instagram of some things I had liked. They sent me a pic to confirm the order of things I was looking for and then called me several hours later saying my order was ready. They're going to delivered in a few days earlier than they told me. I even asked for a card at the last minute and they threw it in at no extra charge. My order was left on my porch complete with a sweet, personal card. I'm so excited they're finally going to have an online shop. They've been around for 26 years without one which is saying a lot in this day and age. They also donate a proceed of their sales to local food banks and nonprofits in the area. I also heard that they pay their employees a living wage and offer tuition reimbursement so that's really awesome for a family owned operation. Each store has its own quirky vibe and each employee is super friendly and welcoming. They're definitely one of my favorite shops to browse and buy from. I've also found some really cool brands because of this store. Keep up the good work Therapy. I will definitely be going back to their stores once it's safe to do so. read more

I found this store by chance by walking in Pleasanton. I recently lost my dog and have been carrying around deep sadness and grief. Walking into the store helped me feel a little hopeful and more positive. I bought a few books that I think may help me live a more fulfilling life without my dog. How doesn't this store have a full five stars!!?? I went in for the first time today and everything is super effing cute. The store smells wonderful when you walk in. There's soooo many things to look at, I kept walking in circles around the tables making sure I looked at everything!! From socks to candies, jewelry to books, clothes to candles. This place reminds me of a mini urban outfitters except better. They have locally crafted jewelry and specific to location knick knacks. There's a paper by the register that explains what their business is and what they do with the money you spend at their store. Amazing people. Astrid helped me out and she is amazing! CANNOT say enough good things about this place. It is the ultimate gift shop. Anytime a holiday or birthday comes up, I stop in here and am sure to find something for ANYONE on my list. The staff is sooooo personable and helpful. The selection is great. And the vibe is always so light and happy. I stop by here every single time I pass it, and always seem to find something fun and new. My wallet isn't loving it, but I sure am. We have walked by this store dozens of times, but always late in the evening during our gelato expeditions so Therapy was closed. My husband and I enjoyed a rare free Saturday and had a leisurely lunch downtown and I finally got a chance to go into this adorable shop. I found SO many adorable things yesterday not only for myself, but gifts for friends. I was so excited about this shop I brought my daughter back today. I guess I was making up for all of those times I didn't time my visits right! Daughter's review of Therapy - "it's like crack". Not that she knows what crack is like, but you get the picture (same sense of humor - apple doesn't fall far from the tree). Daughter purchased goodies for her beau, herself, and her Secret Sister for our lacrosse season. I found even more today than I did yesterday and bought a couple more gifts for friends who could use pick-me-ups or just items which made me think of them. Therapy has an amazing selection of everything! The front 2/3 of the store is full of wonderful gifts, kitschy/fun items, jewelry, accessories, home items, and an unparalleled selection of fabulously fun socks! The back 1/3 is clothing. To be honest, I didn't go that far back because I am not a shopper of clothing and was too mesmerized by the other stuff! If you are looking for a gift this is truly one of the best places to go. Therapy has a wide variety of items which would appeal to both men and women in a huge variety of price points to fit every budget. Basically if you can't find something to buy here I can't help you - this from a person who doesn't enjoy shopping in the least! :) My point is... it's an awesome place. The staff are all friendly and helpful, the layout of the store is great with a ginormous selection of merchandize, but not cluttered or overwhelming. It's bright and fun and the music is jammin'. If any of you enjoy Modcloth or have been to the incredible Hip & Humble in Salt Lake City, this is the place for you right here in the heart of our Tri-Valley community. While I love the merchandise in the store, the employee customer service is far from acceptable. The Pleasanton Store is never open, the workers are always on break. I called to verify when the break would be and no one picked up. I then checked in and per the sign, was there 2 minutes before they reopened. Since I saw someone inside I knocked on the window and was scolded to never knock on the window and how rude that was. I tried to explain I was in a hurry and just was trying to see if they were open. The employee yelled at me to come back and that I should understand this was her personal time. 1 minute later she opened, did not greet me. I asked for help where an item was and instead only pointed. I took the item to the register to pay- she didn't thank me, ask if I found everything. And then told me I was an entitled customer. I've reached out to corporate to complain because it sounds like other customers had this experience with unhelpful, rude employees and always find the shop closed "on break". However, the store has not responded. read more

I came in here one Saturday while strolling through downtown with my son. The people here are very friendly and they make sure to take care of you. They offered to start me a fitting room once I had a few things. I love the fact that (everything is super cute and) not everything is super pricey and that they have a variety of items. I wouldn't say this shop is "DOPE" - that's some strong street cred to give out. What I can say is that this boutique definitely gives downtown Pleasanton some hip and modern appeal. Love that it's strategically located right across from PRIM. Nice touch! Love the customer service - oh so friendly! Love the interesting knick knacks they carry. They also carry a good amount of unique clothing that can range from fairly priced to really pricey. Not sure if their more pricier things is worth the purchase - quality is kinda suspect. This is my go-to place for gifts! Christina (the store manager at the Pleasanton shop) is so kind and so helpful! She's always dressed so stylish so you know you can trust her taste and she's always so happy to work with you to find the perfect gift for your loved one or for yourself! This shop has so many goodies - hilarious magnets and books, adorable baby clothing and toys, cards, hats, women's clothing and jewelry, mugs, cookbooks, puzzles, candles (omg the candles!), and more. BIG PROPS TO BRENDA AT THERAPY IN PLEASANTON!!!! I needed a cute dress for an event on Saturday. After wiping the last of the dinner off the table and loading the dishes, I called to see what time they closed. She told me they were closing in 1 minute but that she would be more than happy to stay open since she still had customers in the store. I quickly drove down (5 mins) and she helped me find 4 amazing dresses. I tried them on and wouldnt you know it, the first one she pulled was the winner! I was literally out of there in 15 minutes. She was amazing and helped this mom of three find a dress that was perfect!!! Thank you Brenda for not only staying open for me but for helping me find a beautiful dress that will look perfect on Saturday. What a cute little store! Luke and I have been exposed to stores like this and love it for its kitschiness not to mention being right there in historic downtown Pleasanton. The staff were very friendly and helpful even when we almost knocked over one of their displays. Neither hubby and I were able to find must-have items but I believe something appealed to our friend. Between the neat gizmos, great clothing, amazing accessories, and friendly/personable staff, Therapy has everything. It literally is the best shopping experience and leaves you with ZERO buyer's remorse, because at the end, you feel great supporting a local business rather than going to a bigger box store. The Pleasanton Therapy is one of a few locations and has that great boutique feel while still carrying some larger named brands like Hobo. It is easy to find and is right downtown so you can visit some other fun stores when you are done or head over to Baci for some yummy food! I love going here to buy gifts and pick up that little thing you didn't know you needed - but now you clearly MUST have it.
