Title: Misleading "Free" Ear Piercing Offer - Hidden $50 Fee! I went in excited for their "free" ear piercing offer, only to find out it's not really free at all. Yes, they will pierce your ears for free--but only if you buy their overpriced earrings, which cost at least $50. There's no option to bring your own or choose a more affordable pair. So in reality, you're paying $50 just to get your ears pierced, which is far from the "free" deal they advertise. It's incredibly misleading and feels like a bait-and-switch tactic. If you're going to charge a mandatory fee, just be upfront about it instead of tricking people into thinking they're getting something for free. Wouldn't recommend unless you're fine with overpaying for earrings just to get the "free" service. read more

If I could give 100+ stars I would give them to this Claire's location. I recently got my ears pierced at a different location (you can see my review dated Feb 1) and did not have a good experience. I went to this location today to redeem an offer I had received. I had seen an item online but was unable to find it in the store and Kristina the manager went out of her way to help me. She also explained recent updates to the promotion I was redeeming which helped me to get an even better deal than I had anticipated when coming into the store. She was so kind and patient. I told her the story of my horrible piercing experience at the other location and explained that I had to take the earring out and was going to have to repierce it at some point. She asked if I would be going back to the other location and I said that was not an option. Without taking an extra breath she offered to remedy the situation for me and pierce my ear again. Mind you her location and staff had nothing to do with the bad results I had at the other location but she has so much integrity and pride in her work and workplace that she wanted me to leave happy. This is the best Claire's I have ever been to and I will be recommending other people go there as well. On a different note, the store is well stocked with more variety of jewelery and accessories than the other locations I have been to. All of the staff was courteous and helpful and took the time to answer questions. I watched them do piercings on other clients and saw that all of them take great care of their clients. Went here today cause my daughter wanted to get her ears pierced for her birthday. The whole family was hesitant as we didn't know how she would react. Luckily the pink-haired lady that was working (was hoping it would be on the receipt but was not..sorry!) guided us through the whole process. She answered all our questions and made my daughter feel less nervous. There was another lady with a black beanie that also helped out as well making my daughter's experience tear-free. I would like to Thank Kristine from this Claire's location. I was there looking for gold long post and asking questions about recent 3rd lobe ear piercings I had gotten and was afraid they would close up. I just wanted to buy the earrings and left at first thinking I would get them another time. I (20 min.) later changed my mind, but by the time I went back to buy them Kristine was super busy (seems like she was the only one in the store having to help a bunch of customers)but even as busy as she was, she took the time to look for the earrings. I guess this is the place kids come to get basic ear piercing. Quick, professional and painless and experience. The days of the scary piercing gun are ancient history. They use disposable plastic devices that look like medical equipment and there is an option to get double teamed so you get both ears done at the same time. I'd give this store 5 stars for the large selection of merchandise and the ear pierce specialist who pierced 2 of my daughters took her time explaining how to clean their ears and with making the dots for piercing location. However, there were 2 problems that didn't sit well with me, which is why I ended with fewer stars: 1. The video on the Claire's website showed how the piercing specialist would disinfect everything before each customer. Meh. Ours just wiped the tabletop but never the chair, and she wore the SAME GLOVES with each person. These gloves touched the cabinets, different people, everything. That's just spreading germs, no? 2. I felt duped with the so-called "upgrade"! We chose earrings for both my kids and were charged for 2 starter kits that include the 3-week solution for EACH kid! No one ever asked if that's what we wanted. They just assumed you wanted "the package" and opened the solution, which they use to clean your ears after piercing, so you have no choice to opt out then. Each bottle costs $20. I nearly passed out that I had to pay $40 for 2 bottles of fancy hydrogen peroxide. At most, my kids could have shared one bottle. (They haven't even used a third of the bottle and they have been using the solution more than twice the length of time necessary.) Tip: if you don't want to be charged for the 3-week cleaning solution, tell them in the beginning because they will not ask you if you want this. Also ask them to disinfect everything (as they are required to) so you can lower your risk of infection. read more

I am so happy we decided to go to this Claire's to get my daughter's ear pierced! Excellent customer service and very professional! Justine helped us and right away when I walked into the store. She asked if I need help with anything or had any questions. She explained thoroughly the whole process on the different types of earrings and what's recommended for babies and toddlers. We went with the 14k yellow gold studs for our little one. Justine wiped down and sanitize the working station and then went over the cleaning process with me and my husband. She was very careful and gentle with my daughter throughout the whole process. When Justine was marking our daughters ears, so she knows where to pierce , she asked us first if we liked the placement of the studs and made adjustments. Let's begin, we went to this location to get my daughter's ears pierced. We were there for an 1 1/2. This lady seemed not very sure of herself. She did one ear and the gun got stuck in her ear and I guess it did not get released? She my daughter was screaming so bad in tears which broke my wife heart and mine. After finally getting the one earring in she fell asleep and was in a calm position, so we told the lady to do the other ear before she wakes up, but nope not this lady. She waited, and waited and then our daughter woke up which here we go again with the crying. After everything was said and done this girl/lady worker complained saying that she had really bad arthritis in her hand, which is why she was having a hard time pulling the trigger for the earring gun. Now I'm all for people that are hurt, but maybe, just maybe, we should have someone else do it that perhaps a little more confident and not in physical pain in doing something that requires some pain in children's and adult body parts. Overall it was a horrible experience and you would have thought that maybe they would have offered a discount at the least for the inconvenience and incompetence of what they did. read more

I used to think that Claire's was the bomb when I was in middle school. That was until I got my 2nd ear lobe piercing there. I was pretty young and should not have let such an unprofessional piercer anywhere near me. She pierced my 2nd earlobe piercings CROOKED. WTH. So now my 2nd ear lobe piercing on my left ear is really close to my 1st ear lobe piercing, while the right 2nd ear lobe piercing is a reasonable distance from the 1st one. I hate all Claire's and they have the most worse ear piercing guidelines available. Please, please I beg you to never take any of your children here, nor get your ears pierced yourself. At Icing's I know, that they will pierce your cartilage with a GUN. Guns are only supposed to be used on earlobes, and even then it is not safe or reliable. Guns force the earring through your ear and may rip your cartilage or ear lobe apart. Guns are usually the cause of keloids, and scar tissue buildup on ear piercings. On the cleaning solution bottle that they give you as part of the set, it says to gently twist the earring to get the solution in the ear. that is WRONG. After you get your ears pierced, you may swab the area with the piercing, but you are NOT supposed to move it around at all. This will cause infection, and improper healing. You are supposed to do 15 min. warm sea salt water soaks before/ after using the solution. Save your money, Save your ears, and go to a PROFESSIONAL piercing parlor. read more

Not a bad store to get some girly accessories for cheap. I was on a search for a cowboy-like belt. I went to Express, Bebe, and others and while I did spot a few, they were all about $40 and up. I am new to pampering myself so I wasn't able to let $40 go for just a belt so I ended up here and got a cute belt for just $14! Just at this Claire's in Stoneridge Mall as my granddaughter wanted to get her ears pierced. My granddaughter was terrified but was adamant that she was going to get her ears pierced today. I cannot even tell you how WONDERFUL the staff was with her. She was pretty much hysterical and they were so gentle and caring with her that she did allow them to do the piercing! So I got up in the chair and this guy was getting everything ready, cleaning the earring guns, etc. So then, the guy "pierced" my ears....THE EARRING GUN GOT JAMMED IN MY LOWER LOBE! Came here to get my double lobe piercings. I know people say that it's better to get your ears pierced with a needle instead of a gun, but I was feeling spontaneous and decided to just get it here, because I had gotten my first ear piercing at Claire's and had had no problems. Immediately when we went inside the associate/manager seemed to know what we wanted and started giving me forms to fill out. After I filled them out, I was already in the chair and she had the gun lined up to my ear. The whole process was extremely quick (15 minutes from entering to finishing). The girl who pierced my ears was fast and methodical. However, both times when she used the gun the back of the earring didn't stay so she had to manually put them in, which was scary because I didn't want her to jostle the piercings. Maybe I should have stuck with needles... But regardless, the piercings did not hurt at all for me, so that was a big plus. The whole thing cost around $42, which I guess isn't too bad; I opted for the crystal stainless steel earrings. The only small gripe that I have is that I realized afterwards that I was charged for the Rapid aftercare + solution, even though I did not specify at any point that I wanted this. I think this is what the girl piercing my ears originally quoted even, though I assumed that that was added the cost of bottle of solution. This ended up costing me at least $15 more than I had expected, not too big of a deal but still would have been nice if she had asked me what I wanted instead of springing the more expensive option on me. read more

I came to Claire's on Friday looking to get my triple lobe piercing done. I was apprehensive about going to Claire's rather than a piercing parlor, because I'd had questionable experiences there in the past (my double lobe piercing was done at Claire's about 3 years ago, and they're very asymmetric). However, when I came into the store, I was greeted warmly and the piercers addressed my concerns about more asymmetric piercings and convinced me they'd make sure my triples were perfect. My piercer, Megan, helped me decide between two different titanium earrings to get pierced with, and was very particular about getting the lineup perfect, as she marked and remarked my ears multiple times, asking my opinion every time. My ears turned out great, I love my new triples and will definitely come back for more and make sure Megan is piercing me so they'll look as phenomenal as my triples :) read more

Do NOT use this store ever. They are a mess and their ear piercing "experts" are badly trained and inept. Oh yeah they are also rude and don't have any customer service skills. My 7 year old had her ears pierced and the piercing was so slanted that we now have to let her ears close up and go through piercing them again. They will not refund any of the ridiculous amount of money we spent. Plus they expect us to go back to them to get the repiercing. Both my daughter and I were in tears because of their ineptitude and bad attitudes. I am so sad that what should have been a fun and exciting experience for my daughter was ruined by their useless staff. I can not state strongly enough that this store is a disaster and please don't put your child's ears in their hands. When I need something unique I at least give this place a shot. I bought a little black feather clip hair accessory that I later found out was supposed to have fake crystals in the center but they managed to fall off. So it was never worn. My least favorite thing about is the employees trying to up sell me at the register. Just let me buy my crap in peace and let me leave. I don't need one more nail polish or one more earring. I scour the clip on earring section and the ones I do walk up there with are the ones I'm going to buy and If I had to bet my life savings there isn't another pair there that I would want. The young lady who pierced my niece's ears was superb. She was very patient and understanding. The young lady did her job fast and we were well on our way. My daughter LOVES Claire's. She loves it so much that every year, she asks for a Claire's gift card for her birthday or Hanukkah. Well, she fished her wish and got one for her birthday. She spent a long time here figuring out which earrings she liked best, which accessories went with which outfit, etc. The salesperson was very helpful with the buy one get one deal. She managed to blow the whole $30.00 gift card in one visit and told me she hoped she gets another one soon. I am only saying this store is A-OK for a couple of reasons. The first is the quality of the stuff here is pretty much the suck. You can get the same quality "made in China" at Target or the drugstore. The second reason is that this store is small and packed full of stuff so that pretty much equals one crowded mess. My almost 5 year old really wanted to get her ears pierced and I couldn't think of anywhere else to take her to do so. Believe me, I tried other places. I even called the tattoo parlor in Danville to see if they could do it but in the end, we wound up at Claire's. I was really hesitant to take her here, even though I got my ears pierced some ahem years ago and mine never fell off. I was just anticipating some snot nosed teenager who had no patience for a young kid, loud music and dirty equipment. I did call ahead to see if we could get two people at once and was told there was only one person on this evening. I told my daughter that we could wait a day and get two at once or go tonight and do it one at a time. She assured me she could handle one at a time, I doubted it but we braved it. We got there around 5:45 pm and Jennifer the Asst. Manager was there by herself. It wasn't packed but there were at least 4-5 other people in there at all times. She was awesome! Seriously, so sweet to both of my daughters. She was gentle and patient and didn't do a thing without discussing it with my daughter and me. She made her feel calm and special. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that the earrings are now packaged with their own sterile gun thing and the piece that touches the ear is thrown out after it's used that one time. Much more sterile than when I got mine pierced..again eons ago...She prepped the area with an alcohol pad, wore gloves and disposed of everything properly. When all was over she was so great at making my daughter feel proud. She went in the back to get better colored lollipops and let her have two since she did such a good job. She let my little one have one as well. She then amused us and took some pictures of us all together. So a fabulous experience and one that I didn't expect. It's definitely a store geared to young girls/tweens and they do a great job with their targeted audience. Thank you Claire's and Jennifer for making my daughter's first big girl experience so great. Now i find out my order arrived at store and was sent back as abandoned?!? I never received an email or call that it finally arrived! Now I'm trying to get a refund and repurchase again but the price is now higher. I waited on hold to speak with a supervisor to try to honor a discount I received when I originally ordered. I went in to Claire's today to return my nose rings that I had purchased. I needed to return the item because as soon as I opened the packaging the jewels fell off immediately. I politely went in and asked for a return and a man helped me right away, and I explained that when I opened the packaging it fell apart, while I was explaining the problem, a girl worker who was also standing at register said loud enough for me to hear "I doubt that happened" and continued to treat me poorly. Came here with my son to pick some earnings out for his girlfriend. The whole time we were at the store they kept looking at him and following him as if he was stealing. At the register the "manager " asked him if he had stole earrings that she didn't see being put back. I asked why she had said that and she answered that mainly all guys go there to steal. I told her how could he if he was with me she went of and called me a bitch and to never return to "her" store. After all the money I have spent there it's unbelievable how my son and I got treated.
