I usually love shopping at Macy's but after today I won't ever feel safe shopping there again. When I was getting changed in the dressing room I noticed someone take a photo of me from under the door!!! Before I could cover myself and open the door, he had already ran out. When I brought this up to the attention of the staff, they didn't even seem to care!! They acted like it happens all the time to where they didn't even deem it worthy to direct me to a manager. What's the point in having cameras when they are so careless about the safety of their customers?! What does this kind of action show to these perverts?? Basically that they can take a peep under the door anytime they please. I ordered a dining room table and chairs from Macy's furniture in Mission Valley, San Diego on Black Friday in November. I was told at the time it was on back order and would arrive in January. I agreed to that. Today I called for an update and was told it will now be the end of March and I'm sure still charging me a delivery charge. If I had not called I would've never known about the additional 2 month delay. I am going into the store this weekend to cancel my order. 4 months to receive furniture seems unreasonable to me. read more

Have been shopping there for many years but hadn't been back for a while.Returned a few days ago and could not believe how terrible it has become. Men's shoe department is now upstairs and minuscule. Selection was awful and I'm not even sure there's a salesperson in that department anymore. Same with women's shoe department downstairs. However, there is a huge self-serve shoe area on the other side upstairs, reminiscent of a Payless or Burlington. Service in the men's clothing area was pretty good. One supervisor was very helpful, but a younger sales woman seemed bored and lackadaisical. The store is clearly outdated and in need of a major overhaul if it expects to remain in business in the digital age. The only things that interested me were the pants, shirts, and underwear. I've heard the Mission Valley men's department is much better, so will try it next time I need clothes. I have a feeling the Grossmont store is just waiting to run out its lease and close up.I was surprised that it and El Cajon weren't on the list of closures announced awhile ago. read more

My review is for the CLINIQUE counter only. The store is small and doesn't have a great selection of anything. I was surprised that the Clinique counter had more product than the parkway location. The girls were nice and very helpful! I did find out the foundation I bought back in March was returnable even without a receipt. I did not know they can look it up by credit card used. I was told as long as it wasn't 90 days old I could exchange it for another product. I am the type of shopper that keeps the receipts and boxes product came in for 30 days just in case I change my mind or it doesn't work out. This location is 15 minutes west of where I live and I believe it is worth the drive to get excellent service and great product selection. read more

These were purchased from (Mission Valley) Due to store closure I went to Grossmont. My husband bought me earrings labeled as 14k Signature Gold. Found out later by skin rash and another Jewerly store that the earrings are not gold. Took them back to Macy's like customer svc told me to do so just to get told by one store personnel that my receipt is too old and they can't do anything, then she asked me if I want to exchange. Why would I want exchange if clearly you guys sold me fake gold. The second store personnel told me that the manager "Pam" wasn't there and made copies of all my email correspondence from customer service and he said when she come in she will contact me in a rudely manner. My dispute is why advertise the earrings as 14k when in fact they are not. Daniels tested them out for me and it clearly showed not gold. My husband would not purchase fake gold especially when my skin wont tolerate it. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE TODAY. Zero stars. Last time I was here I don't remember her name but she was great escalator was broken and a WORKER walked me up the stairs her self because I'm terrified of elevators. Now I came yesterday and both escalators were broken but it was super busy so I didn't want to bother some one to walk me up came back today was slightly slower saw three employees standing around talking . OLDER ladies so since they weren't actually working I thought I'd ask cuz of course escalator is broken which does NOT bug me because I work at the Walmart right in the same shopping center where ares is always broken as well. But they ALLL looked at me crazy and decided that calling the security to help me up was a better idea than one of them who was doing nothing like I had the time to wait for them when I have two kids with me . I made an appointment to have my make up done with Liz at the MAC counter. I've never had my make up professional done so I was nervous but I was attending a black tie wedding. I chose the MAC counter because I really like the assistant manager Kylie : ) but Kylie was not available on the day I needed my make up done. I showed Liz a picture of how I would like my make up to look. She asked me to have a seat and turned my chair away from the mirror. Now, although I love MAC make up we all know that that most of the MAC technicians apply make up that is over the top, albeit beautiful. I wanted a soft, natural but dazzling look and not anything crazy!!! Liz worked away and paid special attention to my eyes really emphasizing the blue, which I requested. Now, remember I wasn't able to see what she was doing but she was talking me through the process. About an hour later she finished and turned my chair to see the finished produce. Before I looked at the finished product she said, "If there is anything you don't like just let me know." Now, I am really nervous. I'm thinking what the heck am I going to look like! When she turned my chair I couldn't believe it was me! I didn't say a word for a few seconds because I was stunned. Finally, I said, I love it its exactly like the picture! Liz wasn't pushy with the products either. I ended up buying more MAC than I intended but I looked so good I had to buy everything she used! I wasn't planning to buy lipstick but Liz informed me that MAC is having a promotion and the proceeds to to AIDS research so I bought the lipstick too! I recently went to Macy's to get a tie for my husband. I stood in the men's line, which was unacceptably long. The young man was checking out a customer and her Macy's Card wasn't going through, by then I was in line for 5 minutes. He called a manager to ask what he should do and THEN HE ASKS IF HE WANTED TO CALL THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND SHE SAID YES, FURTHER HOLDING UP THE LINE. We started screaming at him and HE STARTED CRYING AFTER WE STARTED SCREAMING AT HIM????? His managers should've trained him to not cry after being confronted by angry customers. It's beyond disrespectful. Shame on you Macy's management. Train your employees better. When I was finally able to check out I asked the manager why there isn't more employees to ring and she said "We are under staffed and hiring." What??? Just hire more people???? So disrespectful. Never again. Avoid the young man in the men's section. He's untrained and emotional. read more

Very disappointed in Macys. I'm a young 60 year old plus size woman who always loved shopping here as their plus size clothing line always included modern fashionable pieces such as American Rag. My last few shopping excursions for clothes has been fruitless as they have discontinued the line in the stores and all the clothes remaining are muu muu- ish and lack any modicum of style. read more

I am an avid Macy's customer/shopper. I do not know what has been going on lately with the low rent employees they've been hiring. And I don't mean this based on appearance alone- but the overall attitude. Some of the ghetto conversations that go on are unbelievable. I was one of 3 customers in the shoe department and completely ignored by 3 associates that were standing there laughing their asses off and telling crazy stories about their weekend they all looked at me several times making eye contact- and never once said hello or asked if i needed assistance- which I did need some help. Not much better luck at the Lancôme counter either. Stood there playing with makeup for 15 minutes while he Lancôme employee was putting makeup on a customer at the Elizabeh Arden counter! She looked at me several times and never once said she'd be with me or called anyone else for assistance- so I went over to the MAC counter and spent $320!!!! Unbelievable. This is probably the worst Macy's I've ever been to. The customer service was okay, but the layout of the store made absolutely no sense. If you are in the women's section downstairs you will suddenly find yourself in the men's suit section. Stranger yet, half of the women's clothes are upstairs and the other half are downstairs. I can't figure out what the logic of this could possibly be. I guess this store is smaller than other Macy's because they seem to hardly have anything. As if that's not bad enough, the rest of the mall at Grossmont Center sucks, with the exception of Target and Sports Authority. Enjoy your shopping elsewhere. read more

Frequently go to this Macy's. I've bought clothing, shoes and jewelry at this location. On today's occasion me and a friend decided to go look at the perfume section and see if we liked anything. Once we got to the section a sales lady quickly approached us and asked us if we needed any help. I responded "no thank you we're browsing" . Me and my friend continued chatting and looking at perfumes but anytime we moved the lady would be right behind us! Not saying anything just staring at us and "fixing" the perfumes that we looked at. Let me just add that me and my friend were not messing up the perfume displays so it was very uncomfortable to have her following us around staring us down as if we were going to steal something? The lady never left our side. Very uncomfortable as a customer to be shopping and have an employee follow you around the entire time you are there. Never got the employees name but it was an older lady with black hair. Me and my friend are in our late twenties and we were not horsing around just simply looking at the perfumes. read more

Macys at Grossmont center gave me great service. Lisa In the cologne section is fantastic. She helped me pick out a great scent. Intense euphoria by Calvin Kline, this cologne is amazing and is working well for me. She also got me hooked up with a macys credit card which gave me 20% off. That was really nice. Go see Lisa if you want good service and a kind smile and a warm heart. I also want to give a great review to three amazingly sweet women at the sunglasses hut in the same area of macys. Thank you Gaby, Tamara and Ladonna. Since I had a macys card and would get 20% off I decided to pick up some new ray bans. These women made my day. All three helped me try out some awesome shades. They catered to me and gave me their input on which shades they liked on me and why. They told me of all the options and gave me the kind of service I expect in a high class dept store. Which I'm sad to say is not always the standard these days. They made it a super fun experience which I appreciated, thank you Ladies. Worst Customer Service Ever! The manager, Emily, came down to help the salesperson and I with an email address error, she handed me a paper with the incorrect email on it, while on the phone talking to someone, and then instead of asking if she could help us, walked away still on the phone. I had 4 children with me all waiting patiently for this problem to be resolved. We had to call Emily again and have her come back to help us. It took her 30 min or so on the phone trying to figure out who could help change my email address to the correct one so I could receive my receipts for my purchases. She finally figured it out but was very rude in her manner when she helped me. I was very pleasant to her even though I was very upset with her earlier rudeness and how long it took to solve this problem. She never once aplogized or did anything to try and make me happy. I will never shop there again because of Emily's horrible customer service. Beware! read more

Every time I come in this store the associates treat me like I'm stealing. I worked in retail for 5 years in the Bay. I remember the training to "prevent shrink"/make sure people aren't stealing. These girls blatantly treat me like I'm a criminal. The excessive "Do you need help?" Literally 5 seconds after I told the last girl that I was just browsing. The broad fake smiles then lingering over my shoulder the whole time I'm in there....I've been paying close attention....the associates never treat white/non-black customers like this...I've watched closely as they wait until they're acknowledged to speak to that clientele...I'm a makeup artist and I can't even swatch in peace. Sometimes just for kicks and giggles I'll engage one of the many many associates tracking me in idol garbage conversation until they excuse themselves. I never In my life wrote a bad review or complained about something . I have always had the worst experience at Macy's but this tops it off . Today I have two events to go to and I needed my makeup done so that way I don't have to stress about doing it myself. I went to go to the counter and asked if this girl can do make up and she was nice and said yeah I can do your eyeshadow and the manager of benefit can do your face or eyebrows. I was like okay cool. She is doing my eyebrows and When isee them they look bad but I was like it's cool I'm sure she will fix it . She started doing my eyeshadow and she made it look the opposite of what I asked and looked like a 10 year old did it .. I told her nicely if she can fix it and she said okay .My eyebrows still looked super bad so I asked if the other girl can fix and asked if someone can fix my eyeshadow and do it al over again .. she had asked if this girl named Olivia can do it and I swear to god while she was doing my makeup ; people passed by me and started laughing . It looked so bad I wanted to cry .. I don't understand why Macy's hire people who don't know how to do makeup . Oh and wanna know the best part ? The girl who originally did my eyeshadow gave me the dirtiest look bcuz I had asked if I can have someone else fix it. And I can see her talking about me to her coworker. And stop with the fake stuff and saying something looks really good and when y'all know it looks like crap. You guys honestly need some training and need to get your crap together . Liz at the MAC counter helped me over the phone a few times today and blew me away with her exceptional customer service skills and willingness to go above and beyond. She personally texted me swatches of products and helped me decide on which products were best. I really appreciate it when people go the extra mile, even when they don't need to. She even booked me an appt next week to have my make-up done for free since I am already purchasing product. You are awesome Liz! Wish I could have come into the store to meet you personally.
