I first noticed this tiny store because I saw a Chanel bag through the glass while i was having a walk with my husband and my daughter. 3 weeks later, I wanted to take my daughter to the park. I have to admit, I looked like a "mom bum" One of those days that you don't find time to look good. I passed through this place while on my way to the park. Parked my car right outside the boutique because I thought I was closer to the park than I actually was. Met the owner, Initially I was there to ask about the Chanel bag. But instead i started browsing the store. My daughter was with me so I was holding her for the majority of the time. I realized I had just gotten back one of my bags from the shoe repair shop, something super tiny that wouldn't affect anything about it. So i asked her if she also bought stuff and she said "What do you have"? And i said, i have a Fendi bag. She said, bring it in. Brought in the bag, she started to inspection it. After a couple of seconds looking at the bag, she said it was FAKE. When I asked her how she came to that conclusion, she said she had 20 years experience in the industry. I knew this handbag was authentic because I bought it in Japan in a consignment store. I also do this for a living, she did not let me expain and grilled me about me taking the bag to a shoe repair shop. Also said paying what i told her I paid was way too much. Obviously she did not have any idea of what she was talking about. So beware if you want to sell something to her and if she says it is not authentic, double check because she definitely jumps fast into conclusions. read more

Supper cute re-sale store with high quality designer items. I found a brand-new designer top with the original tags still on it. I got it for one third of the original price. Also found a cute Madewell sweater for my daughter at a quarter of what they sell for. I live in La Mesa and had driven by this store many times a week and finally stopped in one day. Mentioned she needed inventory, but near mocked my "outdated" items (i wasnt there to sell, but she insisted I bring them in.) Pretty standard encounter from a "high end" designer resale shop. My mom had clothes that she no longer wore. We took pictures of everything at home before we gave them to the owner of the unique boutique. She wrote us a contract that was good for three months. A few days before or after the contract was over we went there and looked around to see what was sold. The owner seemed very nervous. The items that were missing, she said she had sold. When I could not find one of the tops, she brought it from the back and said it had a stain on it. I told her this stain is too big for us to miss and for you to miss because you inspected everything before accepting the items. Guilt was written all over her face when she said, "I missed it!" Of course she did not know that we had taken pictures of everything. I checked the pictures and there was no stain on the top. I honestly was disgusted with her because she obviously wears or rents the clothes and lies to people and claims that she runs an honest business. We went back next week to collect everything that was not sold and told her about the picture. She looked shocked and did not say a word. I don't think she was expecting for people to take that extra step and take pictures of what they bring. I told her how could you do this to people? Of course, she kept saying, "I run an honest business!" I am writing this review so that people are aware of what is happening in some of these stores. I think it is disgusting that she claims she is running an honest business but is wearing or maybe renting these clothes and making extra money on the side. I must add that she offered to dry clean the top and called it, "courtesy of her business!!!" I should also add that some of the items that she had mentioned she had sold the previous week were in the store the following week! She blamed it on her computer system!!! Now, how can you argue with that! However, I told her that I will write a review for her business so that she cannot do this to others. My mom and I took the check for forty something dollars and walked out with the remaining clothes. We decided never to do this again because it is not worth it to deal with such people and get the nasty feeling that you have been cheated. My mom gave the cash to a charity and from now on she will donate her clothes. read more

This is one of my favorite places to shop. I love the personal attention I get from the owner, it makes me feel like a VIP shopper. Most of my closet is items from her store, and she has sold many of my items from my old days as retail salesperson which I don't use anymore. I bought few handbags and high-end weekend bag which I use every time I go out of town. I also wore a top that I bought from her on an interview. Not only did I get the job, but the employer told me to "dress like that" everyday to work. Its always fun to see what she has in store, and I love that my clothes are not the same things the department store are carrying. Rare find! read more

I had a wonderful experience consigning clothing today. I was first attracted by how friendly and accomodating the owner was on the phone when I was calling to ask for information. Compared to the other shops I called, she felt like a friend. In person, she was just as wonderful. It was a very pleasant experience. After I left her shop, I went to another local consignment shop to ask about consigning my clothing (leaving my clothes in the trunk). This particular clerk made me feel ashamed for even thinking of bringing in anything less than their standards. I quickly left. Several years ago I had visited another resale shop in the area, and left almost in tears, as the clerk had made me feel so humiliated for bringing in clothing they wouldn't even think of buying. The lady at A Unique Boutique was so warm, friendly and polite. There was never even a hint of condescension or superiority.
